We can raise the importance, not more. The most experienced developer in the
area of TC is CC'ed and working on the code. No idea if he is aware of this
issue.

Hi all,
this bug is preventing us to assemble a full document while showing the tracked
changes. We need the full document together, otherwise the references are all
broken.

May I kindly ask if anybody is working on that?
How can I facilitate a solution to this issue?
How could I circumvent the problem in the meantime?

Thank you in advance,
Emanuele Gissi

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121455] New: Embedded PDF files request/bug

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121455

Bug ID: 121455
   Summary: Embedded PDF files request/bug
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: maarten.vandru...@tassinternational.com

Description:
user request:
to embed one of more PDF files in one odt file.
So that the PDF(s) are displayed as hyperlinks (or icon's) and after clicking
the hyperlinks the PDF reader of the operating system opens the "embedded" PDF
document.
This way the embedded PDF files stays with the document, and you solve the
problem
of broken network links, for example when a network linked PDF files get
renamed or removed.
Of course this means that the odt file will be bigger in size.

When I tried the import OLE object approach, it didn't work, after importing an
PDF file, when clicking on the OLE icon I got the following error:
Error with activating object
General error.
General input/output error.
General OLE error

There please consider an embed PDF file(s) within the *.odt file document
like described above

Steps to Reproduce:
1. fix the OLE import function
2. consider a different more easier approach (just embed PDF file(s) with the
ODT extension)

Actual Results:
In 6.1.1.2 LibreOffice Writer - Import Object - OLE Object
Select from existing document (I have Dutch version, I translated the Dutch
text to English)
and select both check marks (select, and show as pictogram)
Then browse to an PDF file and add the file, this works,
an pictogram is shown in the document, but after clicking the OLE icon
These errors are shown: Error with activating object
General error.
General input/output error.
General OLE error

Expected Results:
Errors:
Error with activating object
General error.
General input/output error.
General OLE error

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
the PDF file should be opened, after I double clicked the OLE icon.

Tested this situation also in the most recent 6.2.0.0.aplha1+ build
(2018-11-15_23:05:09) - the arrow bug persists.
The only difference I see is the comment box color - it does not change its
color to white (as it was in 6.1.2.1) and remains yellow (both in Calc and
Excel).

IMO, it would be great if (1) the resolution of the generated image for the
imported PDF fitted the output device (-> it would regenerate for each output
device, e.g., on print); and (2) it would auto-regenerate to produce the
desired result upon object manipulations, like scaling.

Created attachment 146679

A sample vector PDF tor repro steps

Original report (also the source of the PDF): [1]

Steps to reproduce:

1. Insert the attached PDF into a new text document using Insert->Image.
2. Print the resulting document.
3. Print the original PDF using a PDF reader.
4. Compare the resolution.

Additional steps:

5. In the text document from step 2, use Crop to only make some circle with
number visible
6. Stretch the result to whole page

Expected results:
the quality of printout on step 3 is the same as on step 4; step 6 results in a
smooth giant circle (PDF being a vector one)

Actual results:
the printout from step 3 is much lower resolution compared to step 4; step 6
gives a highly-pixelated image.

Reproducible with Version: 6.1.3.2 (x64)
Build ID: 86daf60bf00efa86ad547e59e09d6bb77c699acb
CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 93611] Spell checker does not treat many characters normally not part of words in the language being verified as separators

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Warm Regards,
QA Team

I tried to reproduce by following the same steps but I got the same challenge
as you see the attached picture.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a new document in Microsoft Word.
2. Click on References and choose Insert Footnote.
3. Type text before and after the footnote number below the line.
4. Save the file as DOCX.
5. Open the same file in LibreOffice Writer and compare the two versions.

I reproduce by using:

Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha1+ (x64)
Build ID: 8274c4c62df5b937b3f0bec9e1eeca85f3b219d4

The current behaviour seems more adapted to automatic processing than to users.
Users are very probably the most concerned by the actions mentioned in the
summary than automatic processing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 119415] Browser-based help search feature does not honor the "module" drop-down (local offline)

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119415

I don't understand the problem about translations. Which field gets too long?

But really, there would not be such a big problem if each application (Writer,
Calc, etc.) just started help already filtered for that application. So in
Calc, you would not get all those Writer hits first (preferably non-Calc help
would not be offered *at all* in Calc, but that's a bigger problem).

For example, in Calc, Help should open
   /help//text/scalc/main.html
straightaway, not
   /help/en-US/text/scalc/main.html
as is currently the case (in master).

In summary: Make Help in each application only show help related to that
application, or failing that, pre-configure the search mechanism to show
app-related hits first.

I don't think this is "FIXED" yet.

Ahem (also AHo). I can't seem to recreate the error (following my
instructions). Consider the issue closed (unless you would prefer to consider
the issue 'moribund').

You should change "Bug Hunting Session" to "Bug Hunting Season". Just a
thought.

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

Description:
I see this in 6.0.7.3 and 6.1.3.2 on Windows 10 with the attached files. I
have JRE disabled. It takes so long to edit the page style that it seems like
it crashed, the window stops responding. With a larger file and more pages, it
takes longer. I've been getting a lot of crashes and I'm trying to figure out
what's going on.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put cursor on second page.
2. Go to Styles & Formatting pane.
3. In docx file, modify page style "Converted1." In odt file, modify Page
style "Default Style."

Actual Results:
Window stops responding. Takes a minute or longer to bring up the style
formatting dialog.

Expected Results:
Should bring up the style formatting dialog without stalling.

Do you use a display scaling larger than 120%? (Windows 10 uses 150% as default
for HiDPI screens.) Then it might be bug 119020 and you should update to 6.1.4
when available. If you want to try in advance, whether the next version will
fix the problem for you, you can use the developer version from
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-6-1/Win-x86_64@42/2018-11-15_14.39.26/.
It will install parallel to your regular version.

Hi Jim, thanks for look at the bug! Yes, I can confirm that. Also, as soon as
you select a color, the pattern selection is removed, it doesn't change the
pattern, but there's a rectangle around the selected pattern, which disappears.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121450] New: PDF: The resolution of the images after importing the PDF

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121450

Bug ID: 121450
Summary: PDF: The resolution of the images after importing the
PDF
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: meat_12...@rambler.ru

When I import PDF, the PDF file is converted to a low-resolution image (96
ppi).

This resolution value is currently hardcoded in
vcl/source/filter/ipdf/pdfread.cxx.

Need to adjust the resolution of image that was converted.

Problem:

This low-resolution image is printed.
It is very long and unproductive to use third-party software to convert PDF to
high-resolution image.

Temporary solution:

1. (if a pdf file is a vector) - Import PDF file into DRAW, then copy to
WRITER.
2. (for any pdf) - Export the WRITER document with an imported PDF as PDF file.
In this case, the WRITER reused the original PDF.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121449] New: 6.2 export problems found (bit map import from pdf alters objects order and epub export quality)

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121449

Bug ID: 121449
Summary: 6.2 export problems found (bit map import from pdf
alters objects order and epub export quality)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lbartol...@gmail.com

Description:
I use Writer to create both pdfs for imprints and epubs. My current LO is 5.3.7
and I'm testing 6.2.0.0.alpha1 (x64).
Since there's no option to export to pdf with trim marks and color bars, I
created a pdf with them on another program from a page with a logo on it. I
covered the logo with a white square before saving this and importing as bit
map on page style.
LO 5 correctly imported it without the logo showing, but it wasn't so with LO
6.2, which also made the lines fuzzy.

Regarding the epub export, I am using Writer2Latex 1.6 extension (writer2html)
in LO 5 and the LO6 default epub export filter.

Neither of them created a cover for the book even though I selected an image in
the LO 6.2 filter menu.

LO 6.2 epub export filter only allows to select either new file at header or
page break when it should be able to let you chose whether one or both and at
which header level even if it's not adding additional options as W2L does.

LO 6.2 epub filter didn't export chapter numbers, which W2L handled correctly.

LO 6.2 epub filter added and F in front of the footnote number and added a line
between notes, which make it look pretty weird on ADE.

And LO 6.2 is not exporting style formating correctly, creating a lot of
garbage code in the epub instead of a clean export.
I'm copying the output from LO 6.2 epub export filter
Roma. (41158
palabras)

Compare the same lines from W2L export
CAPÍTULO I Roma. (41158
palabras)

You can see that LO epub export filter is not exporting language information,
which is used by epub readers to show the right dictionary for the words.

Actual Results:
Messy epub
Fuzzy lines in bitmap

Expected Results:
Output should have been at least as good as in previous LO for both things:
1. Handling of pdf imports as bitmaps keeping quality
2. epub filter should have been worked from the best existing filter around
(Writer2Latex's writer2html) to add up to it.
3. If the software had done trim/crop marks and color bars, I shouldn't have
needed another program to create the bitmap.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121448] New: Focus incorrectly moves to document when escape key is pressed while in undocked sidebar Fill control

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121448

Bug ID: 121448
Summary: Focus incorrectly moves to document when escape key is
pressed while in undocked sidebar Fill control
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.0.alpha1+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rayk...@gmail.com

When sidebar is undocked and escape is pressed while in a Fill control, not in
drop down mode, focus moves to document. This goes against guideline 5 in
Guidelines for keyboard navigation in sidebar [1].

Steps to repro:

1) open draw
2) open the sidebar
3) undock the sidebar
4) insert any shape into document and select it
5) click on Area panel Fill control in the sidebar
6) select any fill
focus is now in Fill control
7) press Escape key

Results: Focus moves to document

Expected Results: Focus moves to Area panel title

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121369] Group Header and Footer styles together at the hierarchical view

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121369

I've been inheriting the header and footer styles as Regina suggests for a
while now. I did the same for the List 1/2/3/4/5 families as well, essentially
just to get them out of the way, but I refrained from going any further.

I'm very much in favor of adding a mechanism for grouping styles in the
hierarchical view based on their intended use, and to use this mechanism to
better organize the standard styles. Ideally, it should be possible to collapse
these groups as well. This would be an improvement over switching between the
current filtered views.

But I think this needs to be separate from the inheritance system, because the
styles in a particular group do not necessarily have an formatting properties
in common. Also, there could be a need to inherit styles from two different
groups. We should consider whether we allow such styles to be displayed
separately, obscuring their relationship, or whether child styles should be
kept with the parent, reducing the usefulness of the groups.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121447] File - Exit LibreOffice doesn't work on 6.2

2018-11-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121447

The exact steps to reproduce:

Open Writer and go to Help - About Libre Office. (Don't close this file)
Now open a new Writer file. And try to close the last one from File - Exit
Libre Office.

The second file is not closing because the first one is in page About Libre
Office and this button became inactive. But it is not the same with X from the
second file. X can close the second file in the same conditions.
