To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58492] EDITING: TEXT BOX by default do not let modify align options.

2019-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=58492

Phillip changed:

 Resolution|WORKSFORME |---
 Status|RESOLVED|REOPENED

I really think this bug still needs to be addressed. The instructions in the
first post still replicate the bug in version 6.2.2.2.

Steps to reproduce, creates a text box with the bug:
1. Create a new Draw file
2. Click on the "Insert Text Box" button
3. Single-click on the page to create text box
4. Type the word "center"
5. Single-click outside of the text box
6. Using mouse, increase the size of the text box
7. Align-center and Align-right have no apparent effect

Steps to create a text box that does work:
1. Create a new Draw file
2. Click on the "Insert Text Box" button
3. Click-and-drag to create text box
4. Type the word "center"
5. CTRL-E for align-center
6. The text becomes centered within the text box

This bug has been opened and closed several times, so I'm going to include
significant detail here to justify why this is actually a bug.

In Bug 41084 comment 3, Rainer Bielefeld wrote, "If you increase size of
textbox after you have typed some text using Menu 'Format -> Position and
size', "Full Width" will remain unchecked, you can not use Text Alignment
icons." Unfortunately, this is not correct.

Both boxes have "Full Width" checked:
1. Create a new Draw file
2. Create a text box that exhibits the bug (use instructions above)
3. Create a text box that works normally (use instructions above)
4. Right-click on the first box, select "Edit style". Note that "Full width" is
checked.
5. Right-click on the second box, select "Edit style". Note that "Full width"
is checked.

After the two boxes have been created, I have yet to find a combination of
settings that will make the text behave in the same way in both boxes.

In Comment 9 on this page, Regina Henschel describes a way to justify the
current behavior as not a bug. If the user types "This is a very long line" on
the first line, and then types "short" on the second line, then "short" will be
centered underneath the longer line. However, the longer line is *not* centered
in the text box, which is most likely the user intention.

Steps to replicate:
1. Create a new Draw file
2. Click on the "Insert Text Box" button
3. Single-click on the page to create text box
4. Type "This is a very long long line"
5. Press to add a line
6. Type "short" on the second line
7. Using mouse, increase the size of the text box
8. Notice that the text in the second line does move when Align-center and
Align-right are selected. However, the longer line remains stationary.

Left-justified looks like this:
This is a very long long line
short

Right-justified looks like this:
This is a very long long line
short

But in both cases, the long line still appears to be left-justified compared to
the entire text box.

Here's another bug I found messing around with this that is probably related.
When changing the "Full width" check box of one text box, it also changes the
status of a different text box.

1. Click-and-drag to create a text box
2. Type "Number 1"
3. Right-click on the text box and select "Edit Style"
4. Un-check the "Full width" check box.
5. Notice that the text now appears to be centered within the text box
6. Click-and-drag to create another text box
7. Type "Number 2"
8. Right-click on the second text box and select "Edit Style"
9. Check the "Full width" check box
10. Select "OK"
11. Notice that the text in box1 and box2 now appear left justified

Perhaps this is the intended behavior and "Full width" is meant to be a global
setting rather than a per-text-box setting. If that's the case, then there's
still a bug because a text box created with click-and-type is not affected by
the global setting!

1. Create a text box using click-and-drag and call it "Number 1".
2. Uncheck "Full width"
3. Select Right-aligned on the first text box
4. Create another text box using click-and-drag and call it "Number 2".
5. Create a third text bux using single-click, then type, call it "Number 3"
6. Now make the text box of Number 3 larger.
7. Check "Full width"
8. Note that Number 1 moves to the right edge of it's text box, Number 2 moves
to the left edge, and nothing happens to number 3.
9. Uncheck "Full width"
10. Note that Number 1 becomes centered in the text box, Number 2 becomes
centered in the text box, and nothing happens to number 3.

Basically, there are two different behaviors for text boxes depending on how
they are created. That must be a bug.

Test case for excessive zooming/enlargement of the image in the gallery preview

To test this attachment, open the document, select the object and try to put it
in the gallery. The gallery preview will look like an horrible square blob. It
used to look like a dot (as it should) with older versions of LibO/OO.

--- Comment #17 from sergio.calleg...@gmail.com ---
I am also noticing that zooming is in some cases excessive. Attaching a test
case. Updated the bug title accordingly.

Also, these are all regressions. I still have in the gallery some objects that
were put on the gallery with older versions of LibO (maybe even OO). At that
time, LibO/OO used to create gallery previews where the background transparency
was not evidenced in any way. However, all the present resolution/scaling
issues were absent. All those objects that had been put in the gallery at
ancient times look fine even when I explore the gallery with a recent version
of LibO. Yet, if I take those objects out of the gallery and then I try to put
them back in the gallery, their preview is broken. Updated the bug title to
make the regression nature of the bug stand out.

vertically centered, 90 degree rotated text in table
not preserved
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: libreoff...@nisz.hu

Description:
The attached DOCX file has two 3x3 tables showcasing different combinations of
alignments and text rotations. Most of them are interpreted well in the latest
LibreOffice master, but the 90 degree rotated text in the second row of the
first table is always centered horizontally, instead of the original left –
centered – right alignment.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert a 3x3 table in Microsoft Word.
2. Rotate the text by 90 degrees: text direction should go from bottom to
top.
3. Align the text in all possible 9 directions (Horizontal: left, center,
right; Vertical: top, center, bottom).
4. Save the file as DOCX.
5. Open the file in LibreOffice Writer and see the results.

Alternatively, you can use the attached DOCX file (text_align_table.docx).

Actual Results:
The rotated text in the second row of the first table is horizontally centered
in all three columns in LO Writer.

Expected Results:
The horizontal alignment of the rotated text in the second row of the first
table should be the same in both MS Word and LO Writer.

Since LibreOffice is related to Apache OpenOffice Writer, colours of document
background, text, etc. in Apache OpenOffice Writer do change with the High
Contrast setting. However, when I highlight some words (not just selecting text
with the mouse, but highlighting text with a particular colour and saving the
document), the colour of the highlighted words stays as white so the
highlighting renders the highlighted words unreadble.

No doubt here. My point is that currently that is broken, and must be fixed by
removing the mess when some pieces of code take one set of defaults into
account, and other takes other set, which leads to errors.

I don't believe this is something actually useful. If we have a broken default,
then a newly created connection of that type would be broken - so it would be
hardly usable from the beginning. On the other hand, *if* some connection
happens to be already working with this given default (even if we consider it
broken), it doesn't make sense to "fix" it (don't fix what is not broken) with
the risk of making it work unexpectedly for the user (which might have applied
some workarounds expecting the way it worked before). I don't think that it's
more important to be able to silently fix *partially created* connections (I
mean, that apparently users would start such a connection, and then abandon
because of the broken default; or edit it manually in the ODB anyway) than to
have stable connections.

Let's see the coming patch on
connectivity/registry/mysql_jdbc/org/openoffice/Office/DataAccess/Drivers.xcu
like quick bandaid fix.

tdf#124022 would be useful indeed but seems more a redesign/refactoring which
needs someone wanting to spend some time on internal mechanism.

IMO, having per-driver defaults is important. SDBC drivers that know which
database they connect to (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, as opposed to e.g. ODBC,
JDBC, ADO) should just set the right values by default silently, and not even
give the user UI to change them to known non-working values.

> Additionally, skipping writing of the settings to ODB which are equal to

In the context of DBMS-specific drivers, on the other hand, when the default is
wrong, it allows changing the default, and fixing the connection in newer
LibreOffice versions. Else, we fix it only for files created in the new
LibreOffice version.

Please note that we have some issues, so that different defaults are used at
different levels of execution, which makes strange results when a
driver-specific default does not correspond to global defaults, like in bug
121092. I'm afraid bug 124022 should be addressed first.

If I understand well, all this is with the "MySQL (JDBC)" connection type, not
the JDBC connection type.

This looks like a LibreOffice-wide default. The right fix should probably be in
the MySQL-JDBC specific defaults, in
connectivity/registry/mysql_jdbc/org/openoffice/Office/DataAccess/Drivers.xcu

In the "" Properties part,
it should give the correct value for ParameterNameSubstitution, that is "true".
It seems it doesn't.

As usual, this will solve it only for new files...

(There is alos the Insert > Special Character... dialog where one can insert

Pressing F-1 when the help system has not been installed, and may do so if it
is installed initiates a loop of crashes and recoveries, even in Safe Mode.
F-1 help is not installed with the Ubuntu Software store nor is it available
from there.

Pressing F-1 in Writer, Calc and Draw displayes a message that help is not
installed.

Clicking [Read Help Online] opens a browser with the correct page, But it also
causes LibreOffice to crash.

Clicking [Cancel] causes LibreOffice to crash.

Recovering from the crash has involved still more crashes even in Safe Mode.
Please see attached PDF file for the details with illustrations.

It takes about five steps to make it back to an editable recovered document, if
Safe Mode is Not selected in any of the steps.

If Safe mode is selected in any step, then it takes about nine steps to get to
a recovered and editable document in a Safe Mode window.

Why I have marked Severity as Critical.

1.The Ubuntu Store does not list the help file and the option to install it
from there.

2.The help file has to be downloaded from the site with out instructions as to
which file folder it should be placed, and “attached” to the menu.

3. I used Synaptic Package Manager to download and I thought install the help
file but found while documenting this that it did not successfully make it
available to the F-1 key, creating same loop of crashes.

4. Options > LibreOffice > Paths does not list a path for "Help" Leaving the

I judged this as a Critical bug for a great majority of users, especially new

Could you please attach some screens or video how to reproduce it?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124331] New: Calc crashes on right click on the row marker

2019-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124331

Bug ID: 124331
Summary: Calc crashes on right click on the row marker
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.2.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: szots...@gmail.com

Created attachment 150291
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=150291=edit
Example file makes Calc crash

Unfortunately, I don't know the root cause of this (only have a suspicion of
being connected to arrays), therefore I attach the document.

Reproduce: just right click on the row marker number "3". After that Calc
crashes immediately for me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 120029] Bold text in dialogues not displaying

--- Comment #28 from gerhard.biss...@ub.unibe.ch

The problem of bold text in all dialogue windows not displaying, and being
replaced with squares, persists in 6.2.2. I just deleted LO and my user profile
and re-installed it, but to no avail. Is there still no solution in the
pipeline?
