[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124414] Image is partly displayed when printing (to PDF) two pages per sheet (Linux-only)

2019-04-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #5)
> Created attachment 150622 [details]
> output

That's not the output that I obtained. In my case, there was just the image's
frame (that was well centered and sized, contrarily to this output) that
appeared.

Also, if possible, I would like not to return to a much older version, for,
with version 5.1.6.2, I had other bugs at print time (garbage appearing here
and there on the printed pages, seemingly randomly). Those problems disappeared
when I switched to version 6.2.2.2 — except for the one this whole thread is
about.

Finally, when you suggest to download a specific version, could you provide as
well the link where it dwells ? I would fear, by just looking up a given
version number, to find something irrelevant, or faulty.

Remember that I run under Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

Thanks, you all !

Fred Lemire

Since this is the result of a MSO limitatin (see comment 2), the discussion in
cemments 3 - 6 is about how to deal with such limitations. So my question is:
Should we close this bug (and open a new one with the mor general topic of
comment 3-6) or rename the bug summary?

I could repoduce it with

So I think, this bug already has been fixed. Can you try it with LO master?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to

Do you have OpenGL enabled in LibreOffice? (what does it say in About box for

If it says GL, could you give it a try after disabling it in Tools -> Options,
LibreOffice -> View under 'Use OpenGL for all rendering'?
I'd probably give updating GPU drivers a try regardless of what it says,
though.

I will highlight a passage with "Blue 1" for a Writer .docx format. I will save
it, and close Writer, and then I open it again, and the highlighted passage
will now be "Blue 3".

I tried it with another colour and I chose "Cyan 8" this time, and I saved it,

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124695] New: "Replace typewriter apostrophe or question mark" in correction suggestions does not preserve CAPS

2019-04-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124695

Bug ID: 124695
Summary: "Replace typewriter apostrophe or question mark" in
correction suggestions does not preserve CAPS
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: philipper...@gmail.com

LibreOffice writer suggests to correct straight apostrophes (which are called
typewriter apostrophes I believe) to curlier ones. However, if the word is in
all caps, for example: USSR's, it will be corrected to Ussr's (albeit with the
curly apostrophe). I would assume the correction should be case insensitive.

Apologies if this is not a bug, or if I am not using Bugzilla in its intended
fashion.

It seems that there's no Gaelic there; or one of the "#N/A" codes might
(wrongly?) be used for Gaelic, thus preventing proper identification.

In former case, it's not a bug, but just a missing localization of installer
(volunteer translators are always welcome). In the latter, in case a proper bug
report appears, it might be fixed.

It does. If for your language, it doesn't happen, that is a bug, which you are
advised to file separately, stating the specific settings that don't end up
with a desired result.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115497

I have tried the collabora demo and the problem remains. I think is due to the
fact that Apple does not support Open GL anymore, while LO develops with it. I
have also purchased NeoOffice (which should combine OO and LO and it is
specifically developed for MacOSx) and the developer resolved the issue by
removing 3d transitions from the options, though it gives you more non-3D
animation from which to choose. Don't know which sounds better, but at least in
Neo you don't have the problem that if you select an animation, it crashes like
in LO.

I am surprised that this got so little attention. In life sciences, this is
necessary to discuss part of a movie.
MS Office implements this very nicely. When user moves mouse over the video, a
video playback control field appears at the bottom edge of the video (partially
covering the video bottom edge). There, user can play/pause and navigate the
video. After leaving from that area, control bar fades away quickly to display
whole video unmasked.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124694] New: Video passing slide boundaries causes weird zoom in or shift

2019-04-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124694

Bug ID: 124694
Summary: Video passing slide boundaries causes weird zoom in or
shift
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sarentasci...@hotmail.com

Created attachment 150705
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=150705=edit
a presentation with a various of combination with a sample video

Description:

On my Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, I observe that when a video is crossing boundaries
(only right or bottom) of a slide, it causes the slide to zoom in during slide
show.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add a linked or embedded video to slide.
2. Move the video to the bottom or right edge of the slide and also leave some
part of the video outside (crossing the right/bottom edge)
3. Start slide show on this slide

Actual Results:
Slide zooms in or shifts (bigger the video -> bigger the shift/zoom)

Expected Results:
No shift or zoom. Even if the logic is to bring the video into the screen,
slide shift opposite direction moving it even further away.

Reproducible: Always

and Adobe Acrobat CC 2019.008.20080

I created a Writer document with Liberation Sans, holding the text:
"Text with U+202F entered:  right there." and Export it to PDF.

On initial opening of the exported PDF, Acrobat reports:

"Cannot extract the embedded font 'BA+LiberationSans'. Some characters may
not display or print correctly."

Uncompressing the PDF, for the stream "Text with U+202F entered:  right there."
shows the NBS is handled in the runs. And the font seems well described, and
the BT -> ET runs look correct. In the clip following the second run holding
Tf<12>Tj, is the NBS.

Repeating steps but without the U+202F used does not error when opening in
Acrobat.

Looking at the font, the glyph #2037 uni202F is defined--but of course as a
space has no graphical feature.

So, flip a coin if this is issue with font or an issue with Acrobat too
sensitive to a single glyph. Either way I'd lean toward NotOurBug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 82184] Improve installation process for non en-US locales

2019-04-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82184

Some technical details:

1. Installer UI language (on Windows; the bug is about MSI) depends not on OS
language, but on the language set at "Region and Language" -> "Format"
(accessible using intl.cpl command line). That is per-user setting. One might
set the language there once, and if required, change all settings there
manually to have, e.g., Croatian language + en_UK decimal separator settings.
2. Creating an additional installer screen (or better re-using existing
"Welcome to the installation Wizard" screen) to place language selector (along
with the text like "you may select the language of LibreOffice UI to install
here - which is a shortcut for UI selection available under Advanced") is
possible; feel free to jump in and make it happen. Personally I could provide
you with advises; however, that's not an easy hack in my view.
3. However, selecting the language there *can not* change installer UI. This is
limitation of MSI technology; and the only workaround is some bootstrap
application mentioned in comment 6. Creating such bootstrap would be another,
even bigger task. To choose installer UI language without changing Language ->
Format, one may use ProductLanguage property with *decimal* [MS-LCID] value for
any language supported by installer and OS (shown en_US; note that link below
lists LCIDs in hexadecimal):

> msiexec /i LibreOffice_X.Y.Z_Win_x64.msi ProductLanguage=1033

It's possible.. Not the expert on this matter..

* Or create a separate install following these instructions:

Windows 10
LibreOffice 5.1.3.2

There may actually be multiple issues here. I also do not have any clipboard
software. Intermittently, I am experiencing the following in Calc, but NOT
Write:

In Sheet Copy/Paste: does not work. Cells highlight as usual.

Copy/Paste from external source WORKS

This indicates to me that the internal copy function is clearing, but not
sending the data to the clipboard, or there is a problem with the data being
sent to the clipboard.

Even the "About" page allows for "Copy", but clears the clipboard, and does not
send data to the clipboard.

Feel free to reopen yourself. My reason to close was that it's a) not our bug
and b) too many variants and dependencies make a solution unlikely.

guarantee it. Is there an easy way to install 5.4 alongside 6.2? I found v 5.4
in the archive but I'd prefer not having to uninstall v 6.2 because of it.

Thank you!

Your "solution" is not valid for Spanish nor Italian. You know, there are more
languages out there than English or German. So please, provide a valid reason
to close this bug (if there is any) or reopen it.

since about 2 weeks i observe a delay of about two seconds in the new daily

load a large table, click in a cell, lokk how fast the focus - fat border -
will change towards that cell.

slow

Expected Results:
fast

Reproducible: Always

the report was just meant as a hint,

if it reappears with future versions i'll invest some effort to narrow down.

Due to a question at ask.libreoffice.org (see
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/190046/exported-pdf-gives-liberationserif-font-error-in-adobe-acrobat-reader/)
I've made the following test.

1) Create one document containing a single U+202F code (Liberation Sans)
2) Create one document containing no U+202F code with almost the same text
3) Create an PDF Export for each .odt fikle using LibreOffice's PDF Export
function
4) Open both using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2018.010.20099 on Windows 10 Pro
1809.17763.437

Result 1 - File containig U+202F
Result is confirming reporter system. I do get the same message, when clicking
onto the text in Acrobat Reader. Please note: Other ODF Readers may not report
the error / warning, while using other creators like cups-pdf won't produce the
error when opening the PDF with Adobe Reader.

Result 2 - File *not* containig U+202F
No error / warning in Acrobat Reader reported.

PDF creation done with:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124691] New: Slow mouse wheel scrolling in Writer with GTK3 interface

2019-04-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124691

Bug ID: 124691
Summary: Slow mouse wheel scrolling in Writer with GTK3
interface
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.2.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rolan...@free.fr

Created attachment 150699
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=150699=edit
Example of complex document with graphics

Mouse scrolling complex documents is painfully slow in Writer with the GTK3
interface (on Linux).

I've attached an example document to this bug report.

See also bug #104716
(https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104716).

To reproduce:

1. Open the attached document in Writer with the GTK3 interface and set zoom
level to 140%

2. Go to page 104 and scroll around several pages with the mouse. The scrolling
is very slow, much slower than scrlling the pages with the keyboard.

3. Open the attached document in Writer with the GTK2 interface and set zoom
level to 140%

4. Go to page 104 and scroll around several pages with the mouse. The scrolling
is now fluid.

Hardware: HP workstation z820, with two Intel Xeon E5-2687W 0 @ 3.10GHz (16
cores, 32 threads), Nvidia Quadro K2000, 128 GB RAM

System: Ubuntu Linux 18.04 64 bits

Graphics driver: Nvidia 418 or Nouveau
