I can also confirm this bug. The fonts in the drop-downs are extremely blurry,
as are the document fonts. As of now, the software is difficult to use for any
length of time, and I shall have to revert to a 6.2 build. Please do prioritize
a fix.

As you said, your story seems to be unique from that by other writers, which I
have read. Novel is somehow a fictional story writing in general. But in order
to keep the readers thrilled, it should be well written with beauty. Being a
journalist, one can get good experience in writing with some flavors.
Generally, a journalist needs vast vocabulary and professional usage of the
language. https://www.essayjaguar.com/

I would like to confirm the fuzzy text. It is in all Libreoffice applications.

Earlier today I was running 6.2.5 and had no problems with the text in
documents.

I got the email about 6.3 release and upgraded.

Now all documents have fuzzy text.

Version: 6.3.0.4
Build ID: 057fc023c990d676a43019934386b85b21a9ee99
CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 10.14.6; UI render: default; VCL: osx;
Locale: en-CA (en_CA.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

Not sure what changed but the document display is now quite terrible.
Documents look bad with the fuzzy text.

Exporting the documents to PDF produces excellent output. So this is a display
issue not font.

Example of print preview column repetition bug in calc after using tilt wheel

While viewing a zoomed in view of the print preview, I can use my mouse tilt
wheel to scroll left or right. The view does shift fine, but at the edges where
new text should enter into the screen, the old text is still present. This
gives a somewhat 'striped' appearance with repeated text running alongside each
other down the screen.

I have included a screenshot to help. Notice the green column and the £50
column are repeated. This is after using the tilt wheel to scroll left.

This effect remains in force until I move the preview up or down (with the
mouse wheel), use the cursor keys to scroll in any direction, or simply move
the mouse cursor at all.

For reference, the mouse in question is an MS-Intellimouse Explorer 4, the
issue is only present in Calc, and only on the print preview. It does not occur
in the main screen, or on Writer preview.

Code cleanup. It was an undocumented feature that degraded the user experience
when active (it did not disable font fallback, it disabled using FontConfig for
it).

We would want to tag glyph items that came from a fallback font (not that
hard), and communicate that information all the way up to the UI layer (not my
area of expertise).

really think the individual app bundle on Mac makes lot of sense for users. I
don't like to open LO, then choose what type of document I want to create. Also
the individual app bundle allows me to put each one on the dock, and I can
easily organize all my frequently used app on the dock and remember where they

I have a suggestion:

allow anything to be selected together, and grey-out or altogether remove
possible right-click actions based on what those elements have in common.

But basic movement of images in sync with other elements of a document is
absolute base-level functionality, and should be replicated across the board.

It completely breaks user expectation, and is not replicated elsewhere in the

If you want to compete with MS Office, you can't afford to have things like
this which make no sense unless you undertstand the technical back-end of the

Repeatable Example of Table Pos Floating in Wrong Place

In this second example, again repeatable, if you go to p4, you can see a random
gap between header "Yellow" and the table that follows. Add a CR after the
heading Yellow and remove the CR, it restores the floating table's position -
now save it and reopen the document and the table has jumped away again with a
huge gap.
As mentioned, I suspect the two phenomena may be related, in that where I have
the one bug I tend to find the other also. d

You need to set the environment variable GALLERY_SHOW_HIDDEN_THEMES.

Ticked both checkboxes under "Reset to factory settings", but unfortunately
that did not help. This time icons became glitchy immediately after I changed
the icon theme to SVG variant, didn't even have to restart Writer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126783] New: FORMATTINGL Date format regresses to MM/DD/YYYY in overtyped data

2019-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126783

Bug ID: 126783
Summary: FORMATTINGL Date format regresses to MM/DD/ in
overtyped data
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: wsand...@wsanders.net

Description:
See attached sheet. Column "A" is formatted by column as MM/DD/YY. When I
overtype (re-enter) a date in column "A", the resulting date is formatted as
MM/DD/ instead of MM/DD/YY. The issue persists when the column is
reformatted as MM/DD/YY and the steps are repeated.

Data typed into an empty cell, however, gets formatted correctly.

This is a very recent regression, in the last two weeks Fedora 30 distro
updates:

libreoffice.x86_64 1:6.2.5.2-1.fc30
libreoffice-base.x86_64 1:6.2.5.2-1.fc30
libreoffice-calc.x86_64 1:6.2.5.2-1.fc30

Version: 6.2.5.2
Build ID: 6.2.5.2-1.fc30
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.1; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

From:

Steps to Reproduce:
See attached sheet. Column "A" is formatted by column as MM/DD/YY. When I
overtype (re-enter) a date in column "A", the resulting date is formatted as
MM/DD/ instead of MM/DD/YY.

Actual Results:
MM/DD/

Expected Results:
MM/DD/YY

Reproducible: Sometimes

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0 all versions
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)

  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress

Description:
Unusable presenting feature (F5) in Impress probably because of a scaling issue
with bigger screens at least with 1440p displays (2560x1440 pixel) resulting in
bad user experience.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a presentation (one slide is enough)
2.Press F5 or in the menu Presentation to present the slides on your monitor
3.Now you should expect to see your presentation in full screen on your monitor

Actual Results:
You will see incorrect presented slides on your monitor (distorted). Often the
lower part of the slide get shown above the upper part of the slide. Sometimes
some parts are missing.

Expected Results:
Viewing the actual complete slide.

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:
Tried with new installations from various versions of impress also with stable
ones without success. Only when you turn the resolution down to 1080p (Full HD)
the slides get shown correctly.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 126779] New: Issues in File Unlocking when program is closed

2019-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126779

Bug ID: 126779
Summary: Issues in File Unlocking when program is closed
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: narayanvenugo...@hotmail.com

Description:
I am currently working on a project editing various tabs in scalc, loading into
a database to create mail merge and address label documents.

I had, scalc, sbase, swriter( label ) all open. and eventually i saved & closed
sbase, swriter and all programs and only scalc is open

I click file > new > database > connect to spreadsheet >finish > and then
save.. I choose the existing database ( which i closed) .. However i get an
error saying it cannot be overwritten , pointing that file is open... While
file is closed.

So somewhere along the way , a lock on a file in soffice suite is not getting
unlocked , unless all other open programs in soffice suite are closed.

Version: 6.2.5.2 (x64)
Build ID: 1ec314fa52f458adc18c4f025c545a4e8b22c159
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: CL

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open excel / scalc
2. Create a database & save as some database with a name
3. Save & Close the database
4. Now make changes to excel/ scalc.
5. Save scalc.
6. You wish to update your database with the new data on the database u
created.
7. Create new database > follow database steps and register database > but you
want to overwrite this over the previous database.

8> Are you able to overwrite or unable to ( since database file appears locked
) and preventing overwrite.

Of-course you can create as a new database, but that is not the point. The
persistence of a closed file as a locked file is not an expected feature.

>> Now attempt this by closing all the soffice tools, restart and try... It
>> will work...

No, Please Don't tell me user profile. I have deleted and re-initialized user
profile umpteen times. So profile is NOT CORRUPTED.

Actual Results:
This is a redundant column. Its like repeating the things I said above in
description and steps to reproduce. Please remove this redundant column
( " Actual Results ")

Expected Results:
A lock on a file that is NOT open in write mode must be immediately released.
A read only file must never be locked.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

The "reason" assumed in bug 56873 why it should be fixed is completely wrong
and unrelated though, I guess no one reproduced it since then. Anyway, at least
we do have some OOXML sample files here at this bug (thanks!). Though clearly
if MS-Office displays the content correctly then the failure is with the iOS
viewer, specifically if it displays month and year correctly and only fails on
the day of month. Whatever, the formats and their assignments are stored
slightly different by Calc and Excel, maybe someone with such iOS viewer could
investigate what exactly makes it fail.

2019-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126777

Bug ID: 126777
Summary: Frame + text box becomes corrupted when saved as DOCX
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: filter:docx
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu
Blocks: 104449, 104528

Created attachment 153240
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=153240=edit
Sample DOCX (corrupted)

This is somewhat similar to bug 126669, except the file was saved as DOCX and
reloaded between inserting the frame and the text box.

- Add a frame to an empty document.
- Save it as DOCX, and reopen the document.
- Add a text box inside the frame, and at least one character in the text box
so it persists.
- Save it again (as DOCX), and open the file in Word.

=> Word refuses to open the file (details: Unspecified error).

Attaching a corrupted sample DOCX.

Observed using LO 6.3.0.3 & 4.4.0.3 / Windows 7.

Something could be "fixed", to quote myself from bug 118729:
"I tested with Excel 2013 and there the behaviour is:
1) Change the width of a wrapped cell, text gets cropped vertically (like with
LibO)
2) Double-click to the cell from step 1) and click away: the height adapts to
display the full text (LibO does not do this)"

So we could implement the behaviour of Excel, which would not be such a big
annoyance.

Nothing can be fixed here..
However, I still think that automatic row height calculation after a column
resize *should* happens. Hench it did work this way before the given commit.
And it does work the same way in Excel (if i remember correctly). The
argumentation in bug 118729 is not convincing. But battling the mighty
UX-advise division is a lost cause in this case. And sadly not to many reports
for this issue either..

The midway solution would be an on/off switch for automatic row high
calculation. But that will create a whole new problem of to many settings (and
the question about the default setting). sigh

Closing as duplicate of bug 118729..

Calc is not filling a calculated series when dragging down formulas, it's like
copy instead. That's also how other major spreadsheet implementations
work. In the attached example, as only J8 is chosen as endpoint, it's the same
as copy-pasting J6 to J8. It becomes clearer when drag filling J6:J7 down until
J9, then J8:J9 are a copy-paste of J6:J7 with keeping the relative references
(and thus making them point to 2 rows below). There is no calculation of
relative differences between two selected formulas, and there shouldn't be as
it would be utterly confusing. Furthermore things would get unpredictable if a
third cell was selected that again differs from the previous difference, or if
formula cells were "incompatibly" different.

2019-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119369

Other major issues with the above type of documents are with tables that find
themself floating in the middle of a page with huge gaps from the prior text
which they are meant to be adjacent to, which is often fixed by going to the
text immediately above it (way above because of the gap) and adding a CR and it
jumps back to its place. There may be a connection between these two bugs
because both are very frequent and both seem to relate to an inability to get
the right position. If I find a repeatable example of this, I will include it.

Repeatable Example

The attached example shows the problem in a repeatable way.
Go to p15 and delete the carriage returns above Holly Blue, save and reopen -
you will find all the arrows and labels completely mangled. I found also in
moving them back (or creating new ones) and resaving, they just jump back again
but adding CR before that table makes them ok.
Much of the time they have not been repeatable, yet happen all the time,
because you often only discover on reopening the document or when you look
further down the document and find an impact.
This isn't the only problem. In general, I'm using pictures in table cells with
drawing elements (arrows and text boxes) and they are constantly mangled by all
sorts of processes - moving something somewhere else in the document (you
discover later the mangling), moving the table (particularly cut and paste -
dragging to a new place seems to be much much safer). It's far worse when you
have a single table so I am using 1 or 2-row tables that are separate and this
'contains' the mangling to individual tables and allows reordering the tables
by drag-and-drop without wrecking the drawing elements in the document so much.
I have to take a PDF snapshot all the time, so I can check every day etc what
gets mangled and fix it back. In terms of quality level the bug puts
tables-with-drawing-objects as not fit for production, but I am using
Libreoffice because it can export without quality loss, so I can put little
insets which people can zoom into on a PDF program.

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pab49...@hotmail.com

Description:
Found an issue with a spreadsheet created and saved as an .xlsx when viewed on
an iOS device (iPad/iPhone) using the device’s default viewer.

The issue is that the day of the month value in a date is displayed as the
number of days since the beginning of the year. For example, February 4 is
displayed as 2/35/19 instead of 2/4/19.

I believe this is a bug in Calc as an .xlsx spreadsheet created in Microsoft
Excel with the same dates displays correctly on an iOS device (iPad/iPhone)
with the device’s default viewer.

This issue has been observed on multiple iPads and iPhones. However, the date
is displayed correctly in Calc, Excel and an Android’s default spreadsheet
viewer.

Attached to this bug are four files. Two files are similar test case .xlsx
spreadsheets – one created using Calc and the other using Microsoft Excel 2013.
The other two files are screenshots of those two .xlsx spreadsheets when
viewed on an iPad with iOS 12.3.1.

The test case Calc spreadsheet was created using

   Version: 6.1.5.2
   Build ID: 10(Build:2)
   CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.12; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3_kde5;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group threaded

However, I saw this same issue with .xls and .xlsx spreadsheets creating using
a 5.x version of Calc on Windows 10 as well as the current version on Windows
10.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. View attached file Calc-Created-Spreadsheet.xls on a iOS device using
default speadsheet viewer

Actual Results:
1. The spreadsheet will have the the day of the month value in a date is
displayed as the number of days since the beginning of the year.

Expected Results:
1. The spreadsheet should have the the day of the month value in a date is
displayed as the number of days since the beginning of the month and not the
beginning of the year.

Reproducible: Always

Try this: from the menu Help - Restart to Safe Mode - and choose Reset to
