Here are some tips from the product team on writing good feature requests.
Make sure it's unique. ...
Describe your use case. ...
Describe the problem and propose a solution. ...
Link to examples and research. ...
State the title simply and succinctly. ...
Feature request example. ...
Don't disguise as a bug, and be polite. ..

Tentatively resolving NOTOURBUG then, according to comment 55. Must be some
combination of HP printer driver version and some MS update related to jscript,
that don't co-exist. Thanks for letting us know vesper!

If closing it turns out to be wrong, please reopen.

Well as you are using LibreOffice you might want to look a little closer.

If you open Tools -> Options and in the User Data panel make any entry into the
'First/Last/initials' field when you reopen a saved document it will be
positioned where you last edited it.

Having an entry in the user will result in an 'Edit view' stanza containing
that data being written into the document on saving. Then when reopening the
document (when the last user matches your user identity) that position will be
read from the document which will reposition.

While editing, +F5 will position you back to that last edited position
(as set when document was saved).

And, as you edit--the 'edit view' location will be advanced to the cursor
position when you save the document as the document is saved. Closing and
reopening the document would reopen to that position -- the new 'Edit view'

You can also place the Sidebar Navigator in to 'Reminder' mode, and use the
'Navigator' tool bar or the Sidebar Navigator deck's Next / Previous buttons to
reposition while actively editing the document. Or with Navigator in 'Bookmark'
mode, drop bookmarks and navigate with those. The 'Bookmarks' will carry from
session to session, the 'Reminders' will not.

And, bug 92821 is open to automatically drop the markers and link the
+F5 shortcut to navigate to each of the last five edit positions of an
active editing session.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 92821 ***

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127971] New: EDITING: Template updates ignored in .doc document

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127971

Bug ID: 127971
Summary: EDITING: Template updates ignored in .doc document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.7.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stevepattin...@hotmail.com

Description:
It would seem that template changes are only detected if the file type is .odt

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new text document and use an existing user template.
2. Save the document and exit.
3. Modify and save the user template.
4. Re-open the text document

Actual Results:
1. If I had originally saved the document in Word 97-2003(.doc) format the
template change is not detected
2. If I had originally saved the document in .odt format the change is
detected.

Expected Results:
I expect the two scenarios to be processed in a similar manner, i.e. in both
cases a message is displayed saying that the dependent template has changed,
asking me what I want to do about it.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 6.2.7.1 (x64)
Build ID: 23edc44b61b830b7d749943e020e96f5a7df63bf
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;

Dear Stefan,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Dear Tamás Zolnai,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127970] New: Writer Enhancement Request - Remember last Edited Position

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127970

Bug ID: 127970
Summary: Writer Enhancement Request - Remember last Edited
Position
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: pauli...@gmail.com

Description:
This is independent of versions, though I'm using 6.3.2.2 (x64).

I recently migrated from WPS Writer, and find OpenOffice far better (so far).
However, one function I miss is that WPS Writer remembers the last edited
position in a document. In WPS Writer, If I open a previously edited document,
I can simply click a symbol at top right of the editable page (see first
attachment, enhance1.jpg) and it opens a small window that allows me to click
on two options; go to last editing position OR go to previous position (see
first attachment, enhance2.jpg) . This small icon is available at all times
that the document is open for editing and greatly speeds up moving around a
large document when editing.

This would be a much appreciated function if similar could be available in
OpenOffice.

Actual Results:
The function doesn't exist so there is no actual result

Expected Results:
If you create the enhancement, if I click on "go to last edited position" the
cursor will go to the last edited position.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127969] New: new Redact function produces merely readable text

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127969

Bug ID: 127969
Summary: new Redact function produces merely readable text
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: b...@kanka.de

Description:
The redact feature was introduced in Libreoffice 6.3
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.3#New_Feature:_Redaction
"As a result, you will have a pixellized version of the redacted document in
PDF. There will be no selectable text in it, and the redacted content will be
non-existent."

Yes, and the pixelisation makes the text almost unreadble - coarse, uneven
spacing, ugly.
If a complete conversion to a bitmap is neccessary (what I doubt) there should
be the option to choose the dpi.
Technically it should be possible to copy text not marked as 'redacted' into
the export document - as text, not bitmap.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Tools > Redact
2. Redacted export
3. Open PDF in any viewer

Actual Results:
ugly text

Expected Results:
clear text

Reproducible: Always

FIXED! (or at least what I just tested is fixed).

I have an HP 8720 printer, and after updating my printer drivers to HP's
latest, the LO crashing problem has gone away. HP released the current drivers
about a year ago, and for those of us with a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
attitude, now that it's broke, it's time to fix it. I've tested a number of
the other problem applications too, and they all seem to be working again.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125914] Validation with cells referencing themselves always gives error

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to NISZ LibreOffice Team from comment #2)
> Reproduced in Calc, without involving an XLSX file:
Indeed, I was thinking the whole thing was unsupported in Calc, but since the
cell reference works, there's no reason why self-reference shouldn't work.

(In reply to m.a.riosv from comment #4)
> Change the value of a cell doesn't validate against itself, what it's
> wrong?, the opposite works as if no validation, so for what is needed the
> validation, in such case?.
The point of self-referring the cell is that you only want to allow the entry
of a specific type of data (ie. whole numbers, decimals etc.), but want to put
no further restriction on it. There's no such option in the "Data" dropdown, so
it can't be done in a different way AFAIK.

And even if there's another way, this is an interop issue between Excel and
Calc, because Excel accepts any entries in a cell with self-referencing
validity criteria, as long as it conforms to the selected type of data. You can
enter data in such cell in Excel, but not in Calc, what is that if not an
issue?

No. LibreOffice is a direct competitor to their flagship office product btw,
something that MS created a Ribbon license exception for... so no, I suppose
that anyone has the same level of access to MS - but why?

Many things could need some information from printer, e.g. viewing in page
break mode in Calc...

Could you please try setting your default system printer to something else
(like some PDF virtual printer) and retry?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 121851] Calc loses time zone information for datetime cells

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121851

To begin supporting time zones, it would be necessary to first support them in
the internal structures.

I have been exploring how I can insert the current UTC time into a spreadsheet.

The Basic expression "Now" returns a value of type "Variant/Date" which shows
no time zone information in the Basic debugger.

I tried "CDateToUnoDateTime(Now)" which returns a struct with a "isUTC" field.
Since this is a boolean, it is not sufficient for me convert to UTC myself.

The IDL file is here:
https://github.com/LibreOffice/core/blob/master/offapi/com/sun/star/util/DateTime.idl

Irregardless of what the file formats support, it would be nice to at least
have an enriched UTCDateTime type available in Basic.

Right now, I am resorting to calling into Python just to get the UTC time,
which seems a bit ridiculous.

The crash dimp suggests that; also a IRC conversation with a user suffering

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127359] Match formula changes, when cells it looks to are cut and pasted.

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127359

I was able to recreate this. When the value for A2 is CUT and PASTED into A4
the formula in cell D2 changes to "=IF(ISNA(MATCH(A4,A3:A$5,0)),0,1)". Note the
"A4" in the MATCH was "A2" before the paste.

I believe (I do not know for certain) that this is normal behavior for
spreadsheets. When COPY/PASTE is used with A2 the association between the
formula in D2 and cell A2 remains intact. So the formula in D2 remains the
same. The pasted value in cell A4 is not associated with the formula in cell
D2. When CUT/PASTE is used the association between the formula in D2 and the
value remain intact. When the value is PASTED into cell A4, the first parameter
in the MATCH function changes to A4.

Not clear if this is a manifestation on OpenGL Rendering of the RenderContext()

But with OpenGL Rendering enabled confirm the empty list.

Bug 127676 to correct default GDI rendering was just patched with

I only know of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotation_mark#Summary_table that
says NBSP for French, except for French Swiss (whereas we do it also for French
Swiss). The French
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillemet#En_Suisse,_au_Liechtenstein_et_en_Norv%C3%A8ge
looks similar but the entire page doesn't even mention a NBSP (or call it by
its French name that I don't know). The German
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anf%C3%BChrungszeichen#Andere_Sprachen mentions
NBSP as "geschütztes Leerzeichen" and the exception for Schweiz (Switzerland).

So it seems quite clear that fr-CH should not have a NBSP, and probably (?) all
other fr-* should have it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127870] "Hyperlink" dialogue box trims "Text:" to 255 characters, even if it's longer

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127870

To be precise - it seems to trim the text when it's being read into the
Hyperlink dialogue. If you select text that's over 255 characters long, and
open Hyperlink, the text in the Text field will be cut off at 255 characters -
and if you hit "OK", then that cut-off text is what will be saved.

You can make the text in the Text field longer than 255 characters, and if you
hit "OK" then the extra characters are saved. So the 255-character cutoff seems
to be in the process of reading the selected text into the Hyperlink box.

For comparison, Google Docs doesn't suffer this limitation.

I started LibreOffice in safe mode (that rules out a corrupted profile, right?)
and I checked that it's not using OpenGL.

Unfortunately the latest version of LibreOffice fresh in the distro I'm using
(Arch) is 6.3.1.2, so to upgrade I will have to look into another way to obtain
LibreOffice 6.3.2.

I tried getting a backtrace as per the wiki instructions, but I got a hang
(freeze) instead of a crash when running with --backtrace, so I killed it
manually. I'm not sure if this contains the right info, but I attached it.

something is strange with measurment, e.g.:

- open new writer document
- press (F11), select "Default Style", context menu "Modify...",
- switch to "Indents & Spacing"
- measurment is: "cm"
- open Menu "Format/Paragraph..."
- switch to "Indents & Spacing"

restart LO and do it vice versa with a new writer document, and you will get

Truncating the beginning instead of the end of the string is not an option, in
my opinion, as it could create even more confusion

Can't we have the field a bit wider (as it is in the side panel already)? At
least in those interfaces where it is possible... Or have a 'wide' and 'normal'
length of the field option selectable in the toolbar settings.

Well, if would help if by default GNOME didn’t set its typeface to a ridiculous
size of 12 (!) and Adwaita didn’t have so much of its excessive padding. This
issue has nothing to do with GTK 2 vs. 3.

What we can do is ensure that the final part of the string is scrolled into
view, so that its beginning is truncated instead of its end.

Did you restart Windows to be sure the right version of the dll was in memory?
Indeed, perhaps this kind of dll is just loaded once at Windows startup.

Is it really so that *all* French locales, i.e. anything French language,
should have this treatment? Fwiw, only the double quotes get a NBSP inserted.
See editeng/source/misc/svxacorr.cxx SvxAutoCorrect::InsertQuote()
If really everything French should have that behaviour it would greatly
simplify things instead of having to keep the list up-to-date. If there are
exceptions then maybe adding some optional flag to locale data would be more
appropriate on the long term.

Hmm, the Autocorrect localized options pick up the LC_CTYPE from the fr_FR.xml
and includes just the single codepoints:

U+2018 -- ‘
U+2019 -- ’
U+00AB -- «
U+00BB -- »

the NBS, NNBS is not present there. Nor is it present in the autocorrect table
for fr_FR emoji.po

Meaning if an NBS (U+00A0) or NNBS (U+202F) is being inserted it is being done
for fr_FR locale in the sw edit engine. But I can't find it.

bug 85860 is a different facet of handling frames--distance to borders and
resizing the OLE object accordingly.

Issue here is that there is no graphical scaling of sm ODF formulas inserted to
canvas as OLE objects. That is bug 99792 but reality is it would require major
refactoring of the sm Math formula editor. Size of the OLE is protected for
good reason.

Meanwhile it is trivial to scale a formula within the sm Math formula editor
session opened with the OLE.

Simply wrap your formula in a size stanza--e.g. size ## { formula }; no fuss
no muss. Resulting increase or decrease of the formula's layout (also done in
the Math formula editor's Format menu) will render to slide canvas on leaving
the Math formula editor.

The OLE formula can then be repositioned.

Not really the issue here. sm Formulas are a strange beast--their OLE frame
responds only to the node composition as defined in the Formula editor. There
is no linkage for them to respond to changes in their Frame.

Not really true.

When you are entering your formula you are creating a StarMath (sm) syntax OLE
object. The "equation mode" is the OLE linkage to LibreOffice's sm Math formula
editor module.

When you first insert your formula, a default OLE sm object of fixed size is
positioned on canvas--but the formula entry is then performed in the Math
editor

>From Draw or another LO module, you do not graphically control the OLE object,
you can only reposition and anchor it.

Precise layout of the sm Formulas (composition of it 'nodes') is done from the
Formula editor's Format menu (it is present working in OLE mode or directly in
Math)--setting font, size and spacing for the layout of the fonts. But, simple
scaling of the formulas is done by wrapping them in a size ## { } stanza. ##
pretty much any number.

The rendered size of the OLE on the document canvas will not change until the
OLE is refreshed by returning to the document canvas--Draw in this case. The
OLE object's grips will expand to the new bounds, and the formula can be
repositioned as needed. But in effect you can scale it, just not graphically.

bug 99792 is open to make the OLE grips functional for resize after OLE edits
are complete.

So some question if dynamic resize of the OLE object's frame while entering
formula from OLE mode would really be a good UX.

Remains an issue. Attempting to resize the OLE with the grips has no function.

But for sm formula OLE, as noted comment 9 wrapping the formula in Size ## {}
will correctly resize the OLE object on document canvas with changes to the
size entered-- default 12pt would resize to 15 point:

size 15 { a^2 + b^2 = c^2 }

And the object can be repositioned on canvas. So, is enhancement needed to
directly manipulate the sm OLE with the grips? Maybe not and this is => WF

Created attachment 154761
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=154761=edit
this is the file opened with error (by impress), probably generated by WPS
Office. But it seems can be opened normally in OneDrive and Google Docs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127967] New: Errors importing ppt files (probably generated by WPS Office) to Impress

2019-10-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127967

Bug ID: 127967
Summary: Errors importing ppt files (probably generated by WPS
Office) to Impress
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ats...@hotmail.com

Description:
As the title, it looks like Impress import the ppt file(probably generated by
WPS Office) the master slide(母片)as the main slide wrongly, so it will be look
like there is nothing in the original slide.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open the file
2.then you can see the slide with error

Actual Results:
only two slides in the main screen, and each slide is almost blank

Expected Results:
it should show slide with intact pages, texts, and photos

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I am not sure how to attach the file to this big report (except using external
link), reopen the file which encountered the problem may be the fastest way to
replicate the error.

This is a consequence of my patches that set the --disable-gui configure option
and removed the X11 libs from the docker. Maybe my message did not get through
to Cloph in irc, but I asked for a make clean in the build tree of the build
host that created this docker image, because incremental build is not good
enough, apparently some object file was not regenerated after --disable-gui.

Indeed with fr_FR you get automatically the non-breaking spaces. This issue is
about making fr_CI and the other French African locales to work like fr_FR
already does.
