[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127687] Libreoffice Qt5 VCL plugin not scaling the UI for HiDPI

Screenshot with 3840x2160 display

I just tested current LibreOffice master on an AOC U3277PWQU screen, resolution
is 3840x2160.

The screenshot shows how it looks for me. Everything is pretty tiny due to the
high resolution, but I guess that is expected and to me, everything looks
correct at a quick glance.

A few questions:

1) What is your screen resolution?
2) Do you have any additional display settings, like scaling,... applied in
Plasma's display settings? Font settings etc. could also play a role. Can you
possibly try whether using default/different settings makes any difference?
3) As far as I can see from the screenshot, you're using the "Tabbed" user
interface (which can be selected in the menu via "View" -> "User Interface" ->
"Tabbed"). Does it work correctly when using the "Standard Toolbar" instead,
for example?
4) Can you retest whether it works OK for you with a current daily build of
LibreOffice master as available at [1]? You can install that one in parallel as
described at [2].

I noticed that the icons also look somewhat blurry in your first screenshot.
This might be the issue described in bug 122263.

My Version: 6.5.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: bc9b046fbd1d68016ae6c53c990fce97b57eb663

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128908] New: Impress font rendering problem in presentation mode still not solved

2019-11-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128908

Bug ID: 128908
Summary: Impress font rendering problem in presentation mode
still not solved
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.7.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.felsb...@liu.se

The problem
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/98075/impress-incorrect-font-rendering-in-presentation-mode/
still exists in version 6.0.7.3 which comes along with Ubuntu 18.04.

OpenCL is on. If I turn of hardware acceleration, fonts are fine, but graphics
are unacceptable quality.

If I turn on HW-acceleration, fonts are rendered in half-size at random places,
sometimes single letters. Difficult to enforce, sometimes this vanishes when
changing font.

This is critical, because without proper rendering, a presentation tool is
useless.

And I don't see a solution that automatically modifies inserted fields. But

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128316

As I understand the request, it's about some control in (different?) fields
editor that controls its casing (e.g., "No case
change"/"Lowercase"/"Uppercase"/"Sentence case"), which would apply the chosen
operation (analogous to what we have in Format->Text) to the result of the
field evaluation, *dynamically*. No macro solution could handle e.g.
requirements to templates, or to fields displaying print time.

It is unclear how this is different from tdf#108848 that you mention.

Just as in the latter, you note that "hwp" files (that are proprietary binary
format in a "compound" file) are not read by LO. Have you found a documentation
for it, like MS has created for its DOC [1], or do you offer a sponsorship to
fund the reverse engineering?

You confirm that "cell" files (that are simply renamed XLSX) and "show" files
(that are renamed PPTX) are opened in LO. Of course, we have issues related to
XLSX (tdf#108897) and PPTX (tdf#108226) support. Is your request "to fix all
those bugs (and also all unknown)"? Do you realize that full compatibility is
not possible even in theory, because the two suites are built on different
principles/document models; and that even where compatibility is possible, bugs
happen, and need to be filed and fixed one-by-one?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128907] New: Complete compatibility with Hancom Office file formats

2019-11-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128907

Bug ID: 128907
Summary: Complete compatibility with Hancom Office file formats
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: qkrrbals1...@gmail.com

Description:
Extended improvement request in ID 108848.

There is Hancom Office, which is widely used in Korea like MS Office, and there
are three file formats in total. (hwp, cell, show)

hwp : doc file in MS Word
Cell: xls file in MS Excel
show : pptx file in MS Powerpoint

It is compatible with MS Office in each case, currently, only the hwp file
cannot be opened in LibreOffice.

I request complete compatibility with Hancom Office from LibreOffice.

I attached a sample file of three file formats from Hancom Office.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the file (hwp, cell, show).
hwp : Writer
Cell: Calc
show : Impress

Actual Results:
(tested in LibreOffice 6.2.4.2)

hwp in Writer : The contents of the file are broken.

cell in Calc : The file can be opened normally,
but there is a difference in the letter size of the chart legend.

show in Impress : The file can be opened normally,
but there is a difference in the arrangement of the letters in shapes.

Expected Results:
none.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I also uploaded screenshots from Hancom Office and from LibreOffice.

Dear OfficeUser,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Dear BogdanB,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128906] New: table within a frame issues

2019-11-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128906

Bug ID: 128906
Summary: table within a frame issues
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1+
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ken.x.gra...@gmail.com

Description:
i make extensive use of tables. to easily & precisely move those tables i
insert each in a frame. however, the gap between the table bottom & frame
bottom is inconsistent & sometimes not correctable. by the way, my 4.2 writer
guide fails to define the meaning of interactively & floating creation which
appear to do nothing but might be the source of my issues.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a frame
2.insert a table
3.attempt to reduce the size of the space between the 2 bottoms.

Actual Results:
see attached. sometimes the gap can be eliminated. other times the gap can't be
changed. @ other times the gap can be significantly reduced but not eliminated.
while i would like to eliminate all gaps., failing that, i would like
consistent treatment of tables within frames.

Expected Results:
a consistent removal of that spacing

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-US
Module: TextDocument
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Windows (All)
OS is 64bit: no

Ok next iteration on the left. I would recommend to hide the Collate preview if
copies = 1 and if nothing is selected than hide the selection radio box (which
reduce the dialog widget number number and the height.

But for this I need someone how code it. However I think the dialog is not an
complete redesign but definitely an improvement.

As best as I can tell these two pages are identical.

> Now on the fact that QRcodes, signature lines and other objects don't show

> bug entry.

Yes -- that was also my point.

To summarize: I propose to make the following changes on that online help
page.

1. Change "titles" to "headings" (because "headings" does show up in
Navigator, but I do not think that titles appears).

2. Add "drawing objects" to the list (because it appears in both Writer and
Calc navigator).

3. Drop the word "all" from the sentence: "The Navigator displays all types
of objects contained in a document." (because as we agree, there are some
objects that are not shown in the document).

If those changes seem appropriate, then I am willing to make the commits. And
may I add you as code reviewer?

(and I guess you do not know anything about the Reference category in
Navigator?)

Thanks.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115619] Editing form size changes all form sizes

2019-11-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115619

This bug, since originally reported, has gotten worse. Sometime after
reporting all form sizes are now of a system determined size which occupy most
of the screen. No matter what the form size is set to it will generate some
default size (all the same size) for every form. Have no idea where this size
originates from.

The only method to keep this somewhat under control is to use a macro to set
the width and height.

Current version used:

Upgrade from 6.3.2 using most current installer for 6.3.3.0 (x86) on Windows 7
Home Premium selecting "customize" then "start LO when starting up windows"
fails to enable Quickstarter to run

after Reboot still does not enable Quickstarter to run.

Check quickcstarter chckbox under "Tool" | Options | General, look for flag
being set, and not set by installation progrm, in User-mode.

So there are two 'profiles' on this Win7 x86 machine. 'admin' and 'user'.

When upgrading from LO 6.3.2 to 6.3.3.0 option is given in installer.

the Option is selected.

But the installer fails to trip the flag for "Start LO on Windows Start" see
image.

Need to Manually set the flag, then Re-Boot PC, to re-initialize and re-read
registry value for Startup entries. (see picture in JPG

Can reproduce the failure with that. But unfortunately cannot get lldb to get
a backtrace (maybe because the app is not from a certified developer?): Even
after copying from the .dmg to /Applications and using Finder context-menu Open
to Open it anyway, then

> $ lldb -p 85619 # the pid of the running soffice
> (lldb) process attach --pid 85619
> error: attach failed: Error 1

and (after closing that instance of soffice)

> $ lldb /Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice
> (lldb) target create "/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice"
> Current executable set to
> '/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice' (x86_64).
> (lldb) r
> error: process exited with status -1 (Error 1)

With a similar local build (4d7e5b0c40ed843384704eca3ce21981d4e98920,
--disable-release-build --disable-debug --disable-dbgutil
--with-package-format=dmg, among others) and installing
workdir/installation/LibreOfficeDev/dmg/install/en-US/LibreOfficeDev_6.4.0.0.beta1_MacOS_x86-64.dmg,
I can not reproduce the failure.

(All on macOS 10.15.1.)

Alex: how could migration assistant be the culprit since it's not been called?
For the rest, I agree with you, the apostroph in tablename causes pb but I
don't know what's the difference between 6.0 and 6.1.
So yes it needs some bibisect.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128903] New: Please (PLEASE!) provide global autocomplete

2019-11-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128903

Bug ID: 128903
Summary: Please (PLEASE!) provide global autocomplete
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: david.c.litt...@gmail.com

I apologize if this is a duplicate request. I searched and I know I have seen
this enhancement request before but it did not come up.(I recall someone named
Sophie Freud made it or commented on it last year and there was some discussion
around it.)

It would be a tremendous help if new words were added to a global autocomplete
list rather than added only to per-document lists.

I just finished writing a book (Democratic Party Renaissance - Rank and File
Action Manifesto) and at some point will probably do a 2nd ed and perhaps a
follow up volume that addresses some of the topics in depth.

In producing the text I typed hundreds of "new" words (people, places, parties,
laws, etc.) and if I do the 2nd ed or a follow up volume I would obviously like
those words in my autocomplete list.

I have worked at a professional level as an experimental psychologist, a
computer scientist, and other fields in which there are hundreds if not
thousands of lexical items one uses every day. Not to be able to, for example,
write a second paper on the same topic as 6 months ago and use the same
autocomplete list is, to put it mildly, frustrating as all get out.

There is a hack: Make and prepopulate a word list document with just all your
words, open it whenever you're writing a new document, create the new document,
save the new document and the word list document frequently, and it kind of
works ok. But that's a pretty circuitous route to achieve what I am sure many
many people working in lexically rich disciplines would love to have and when I
describe the hack to people who would like to have global autocomplete their
eyes start to roll back after the first sentence.

At the UX level, perhaps along with the "collect words" and "discard when
closing document" check boxes in the Tools/Autocorrect/Autocorrect Options
panel, add a "add words to global autocomplete list" checkbox.

Then, in options/settings, a choice to "always load global autocomplete list"
or just do it by default and, ideally, put a button on the toolbar "Turn On/Off
Global Autocomplete" scoped to the current document.

By the way I have 8K words in my prepopulated document and have no performance
issues on an old single core 4GB W7 machine so I don't see why the limit
couldn't be bumped up to 20K.

I really like autocomplete, have used e.g., LightKey which is a really nice
piece of commercial software, and apparently W10 has some global autocomplete
functionality.

But to provide a robust global autocomplete with an open source product as good
as LibreOffice would really advance the cause.

Thanks.

Actually, I am wrong. The page has a selector tag that display contents
depending on the application (*). The selector is activated by the parameter
DbPAR= in the page URL, therefore for Calc, this is what you see:

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/shared/guide/navigator.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3147008

and for Writer:

https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/shared/guide/navigator.html?DbPAR=WRITER#bm_id3147008

(look at the "related topics" on the bottom). The selector DbPAR is activated
if you land on the Help coming from Calc or Writer.

If you want a more precise description for all modules, please provide the flat
contents you wish per module here, and I'll make it work.

Now on the fact that QRcodes, signature lines and other objects don't show in
the navigator, I think this is another issue that indeed deserves its own bug
entry.

There's an option in bug report "User profile reset" that indicates it should
be done in case of problem before submitting a report. Please do it.
