Let me demonstrate to you that my desire to have such an vertical arrangement
of chapter titels and indexes is not an individual desire. The following two

("Thanks to" or "Gratitude"), "Anmerkungen" ("Remarks") and "Register"
("Register") have no chapter numbers and begin at the left edge of the text
area in the TOC, like the chapter titles above them, with chapter titles
starting with numbers.
Summary:
At least in Germany and possibly in Austria and in the German speaking parts of
Switzerland and Belgium this kind of vertical arrangement of chapter titles
with numbers and no numbers in their chapter titles at the same vertical
position in TOCs is a standard arrangement.

I am uploading both sets here. To do this the following steps work for me: i) soffice.bin --safe-mode ii) select Reset to factory settings radio button and check the two check boxes that become available; Reset settings and user interface modifications and Reset entire user profile and Apply Changes and Restart. iii) close and do soffice.bin --safe-mode again iv) select Continue in safe mode When Writer starts the Infobar should be visible and show a message like "You are running version x.x of LibreOffice for the first time. Do you want to learn what's new? followed by a Release Notes button and an X close button. 1) Open a document or enter some text - "This is a Test" 2) Position the cursor around the middle of a sentence. 3) Press F6 until focus is lost in the Infobar. This requires three presses of F6 if standard toolbar and formatting toolbar are open. 4) Press Delete, Backspace, Enter and various navigation keys. Results: Key action happens in the document window. Here the group object in the higher left of slide is NOT opened, and the the other objects are shown in the same way. in the next screenshot, having double clicked on the group object, the other 2 object are grayed out and is crystal clear to see that there is a temporarily open group being edited and what belongs to it. Finally in the third screenshot, it is LO6.3.3 now opened, and the objects outside the group do not change the way they are displayed whether the group is opened on not. If you open this with Libreoffice 3.3 and double click on the gruped object set (the group with the "hello everybody" text included), the group will open for editing single objects in it AND the other two objects in the slide (bottom right) will be grayed out. Now open the same file with LO6.3.3, and do exactly the same: the bottom right object will NOT gray out when the grouped object is opened for editing its components.
