I was unable to verify this bug at this time because I am still using OsX
10.9.5, and your latest version of LibreOffice (6.3.3) would not run on it. I
believe it said it requires 10.10.

I will attempt to verify it on one of our newer machines if I am able.

Dear Dmitry,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Bug ID: 129121
Summary: Big mod to big spreadsheet: FILESAVE Bad Allocation
crash
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mwh...@mail.com

Description:
Performing a large operation (such as selecting and copying and pasting
thousands of rows from one worksheet into another worksheet) in a large Calc

attempting to save the modified spreadsheet. The attached files demonstrate the
problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Using attached file ProblemDemo.ods, go to the sheet named Orig Price Data
2. Enter cntl-A to select the entire sheet (~4000 records in use)
3. Enter cntl-C to copy the entire sheet
4. Go to the blank sheet named Pared Price Data
5. Enter cntl-V to save all copied data
6. Enter cntl-S to save the entire spreadsheet to disk
7. Wait while this operation proceeds: takes many minutes on my little Acer
8. When the Bad Allocation error occurs, click on OK and watch Calc crash

Actual Results:
Calc exits memory. The next time it is used, it asks if you wish to restore the
above file, but nothing is there to be restored, so you are right back where
you started -- all of your extensive changes are gone.

Expected Results:
It should save the file properly, of course.

If that is somehow impossible, it should at least warn you and continue running
so that you have a chance to copy your changes (perhaps just one or two of many
worksheets) to a different file.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
I am seeing this problem A LOT over the past few days (since 25 November 2019).
I have two large files that I can send to you that should help in isolating the
problem. I will attach them to this form.

One of the files is a text version of the Windows 10 System Information (about
0.8 Mbytes) so you can see the specifications of my computer and the Windows 10
version number and all of those things. The other file is an actual spreadsheet
file (.ods file) that causes the problem very consistently. It is about 26
Mbytes.

I have spent a lot of time using LibreOffice Calc over the past few years.
About nine months ago I installed LibreOffice 6.1.5 and used it up until this
week creating a dozen or so *large* spreadsheets with file sizes of 180 Mbytes
or more. These are slow to load and slow to save, but other than that they
*had* been working fine. Suddenly that all changed this week. I cannot seem to
do the simplest operation in any of those large files without getting a Bad
Allocation error message when I try to save my changes.

I started all over on a new file and gradually built it up to be very much like
my other files. When it reached about 20 Mbytes in size, I started getting the
Bad Allocation error. It has lots of tabs (lots of sheets) but in particular it
has two named Orig Historical Price Data and Orig Historical Cap Data. The
first of these two contains almost 4000 records. I would like the second of
these two to be an exact copy of the first (as a starting point for my work).
However, I can only copy a few hundred records from one to the other and still
save the changes. If I copy thousands of records from one to the other, then I
get a Bad Allocation message when I try to save the changes.

I tried running in Safe Mode (as recommended in "instructions for resolving
User Profile corruption" and the problem still happened.

I tried running with OpenGL disabled and the problem still happened.

Comparison of scaling between KDE applications and LO.

I have the same issue. Scaling does not seem to be consistent with the rest of
the environment. Icons and other views do not seem to respect the scaling
applied to KDE. Fonts instead seems to be properly scaled.
I attached an image showing how menu icons are different and how other widgets
differ. On the top left, there is a LO menu, while on the top right there is
Konsole menu. In this case checkboxes and icons are way too small.
At the bottom, there is a similar comparison of widgets.

No. This machine was a fresh install of KDE Neon for the project.

http://www.logikalsolutions.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/LO-extensions.png

Once these 3 books are written the machine will most likely be wiped and setup
for other projects.

If KinfoCenter hadn't been showing over 10Gig of free RAM I wouldn't even have
reported this. Not using all of the RAM it could get access to points to either
a VM issue (i.e. Java) or some internal thread limit. By the last part I mean
that something limits either the number of worker threads or the amount of RAM
they are allowed to consume. Kind of tired now, might be rambling. Long day at
keyboard completing other writing projects.

Not expecting this to be fixed today. Just wanted to file the bug and have
someone thinking about LO suitability for business class documentation. I
routinely have documents well north of 600 pages and routinely run into what
appears to be resource constraints on machines which are in no way resource
constrained. That causes me to have to port the documents to other word
processors. Sometimes I even have to jump to Windows using either Word Perfect
or Word.

Honestly, I wonder if someone didn't put a 32-bit build of LO in the repos and
PPA. That would explain a lot. LO couldn't ever get more than 4Gig no matter
how hard it tried. That's just a thought from a tired brain though. Can't think
of how to check off top of head even.

Sadly, there is no way to do that. I cannot release the source file for a book
going into production or which is currently in print. I've had significant
problems with book piracy.

At some point I can attempt to reproduce the problem with a large book I did
not and will not be releasing. I do have a second edition of this book

https://theminimumyouneedtoknow.com/app_book.html

which I didn't put out due to a vendor participation (lack there-of) issue. The
first edition weighed in around 800 pages. It didn't have as many images as the
current work, but I could stick some of the images from this book in it to find
the tipping point. The problem "feels like" there is a tipping point. One image
over the limit and LO jumps off a cliff.

Thank you for the note.

I assume by Luddite you mean this:

One who fears technology (or new technology, as they seem pleased with how
things currently are...why can't everything just be the same?)

found here: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=luddite

That's not the case. Those of us using tools to do something need those tools
to stay stable until the task is done. I upgrade often, between projects. I'm
not between writing projects right now, hence my fear of the knee-jerk response
"upgrade to the latest and then test." My fear was justified. Other things
broke. This book has missed the Christmas market now. The two others behind it
are delayed.

Still an issue in 6.3.3.2 on Windows 7 64 bit.

There is no "TIFF Options" windows when exporting in TIFF format from Draw, so
it's impossible to set Width/Height/Resolution of the exported image.

Moreover, in the exported TIFF image file the x and y resolution parameters are
both set to very weird values.

2019-11-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129120

Bug ID: 129120
Summary: Skia text rendering on Windows, 'off by one' as canvas
is scrolled
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.5.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu

Created attachment 156207
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=156207=edit
transietn 'off by one' lines in scrolling text Skia rendering

On Windows 10 Home 64-bit en-US with Intel HD Graphics 620 supporting Vulkan
1.1.114 with build Version: 6.5.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: ecc56435094e23165eb30db4d7f6a7e6aab0b47e
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18362; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win;
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

With the new Skia based rendering, scrolling a page of text shows horizontal
lines that advance up the srolled page. They line up across the bottom edge of
document canvas as it is exposed when scrolled into view. As if the canvas is
off by one.

The effect is visual and transient, and lines clear when canvas is redrawn by
focus away and return.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81720

Please make this a priority. An earlier request for work on this mentioned that
this bug causes problems with *improving* the way Zotero interacts with LO.
However, this bug as it exists now makes the existing Zotero interactions with
LO seriously inconvenient. Any edits of my LO Writer document that are too near
a Zotero reference will foul the document's reference functions. I found a
detailed description of the steps to reproduce this in bug#123224 that was
marked as a duplicate of this.

Please understand that this is a serious inconvenience to academic writing that
includes citations, references, and a bibliography.

Maybe. Weird though that it does not crash when Customize dialog is opened from
one of the modules its fine there; just crashes opened from the StartCenter.

No. Purging of all things Java to get out from under artificial restrictions
imposed by a VM is essential to allow this word processor to work with standard
business length documentation.

According to KinfoCenter there was over 10 Gig of RAM free. An application
written with a legitimate natively compiled development language would have
been able to easily utilize all of the RAM it needed. Instead we have Java code
causing the application to gasp and flail around for many minutes.

Please actually read a message thread before leaping to a baseless conclusion.
I did install a PPA. True to AGILE development it busted other things which had
been working perfectly. This is why people doing actual work don't install
"new" stuff until they are all done with actual work. This is why LTS versions
are important.

While the image handling is not as horrible in the current release, it still
cannot mail a letter to good.

Btw, there needs to be a blank entry on the second combo box so when things are
erroneously closed they can be reset properly.

(In reply to roland from comment #9)
> ... You physically cannot work from a wireframe. The image must be viewable
> by the author in its final size, not full sized in a graphics program on
> another monitor.
> ...

Well of course, and was one of the reasons EPS provides a bitmap preview.

Wireframe is done so you can manipulate your layout and scroll without the
memory and graphic processing overhead of rendering document pages. Using the
function to toggle images/graphics to wireframe lets you get your editing done.

Toggle it off to move about the document, and on to work on a specific page.
The projects Navigator deck in the Sidebar makes this easy if you title your
tables and frames and the images they contain.

Just verified the Tools -> Options -> Writer -> View "Images and Objects" is
the same .unoShowGraphc control provided from the main menu View -> 'Images and
Charts'. So no need to dig into the Options dialog.

And, for convenience it can be assigned to Context menu customizations as the
'View Images and Charts' action.

So the toggle is very convenient for use, and I'd suggest essential for working
with abusively long manuscripts.

But your 6.0.7.3 build is past EOL and this BZ issue is no longer actionable
nor really relevant.

As noted, Image/Graphics object handling was refactored at the 6.1.0 release,
improving actual memory management and lifecycle for images within an edit
session [1] (related issues against the META bug 116280)

So, please upgrade to current build when your distro allows, or PPA
provides--or maybe better integrate a TDF build. The 6.3.4 release, and the
6.4.0 release candidates will be rolling soon. Issues against those would be
appropriate and appreciated.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129115] New: OPT_* functions have no Help ID (HID) defined

2019-11-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129115

Bug ID: 129115
Summary: OPT_* functions have no Help ID (HID) defined
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org

Pricing functions
OPT_BARRIER
OPT_TOUCH
OPT_PROB_HIT
OPT_PROB_INMONEY

have no HID numbers and thus the Help pages can't be accessed from the wizard
(F1).

Suggested HID's
HID_FUNC_OPT_BARRIER
HID_FUNC_OPT_TOUCH
HID_FUNC_OPT_PROB_HIT
HID_FUNC_OPT_PROB_INMONEY

as seen in sc/inc/helpids.h

Incidentally, there is no SC_OPCODE associated to them...

This was reported for Windows; so it's a dupe of bug 98723. Similar problems
with other systems (macOS, Linux without Gnome, etc) need own issues.

This is clearly platform-specific issue; this one had been reported against
Windows; as indicated in comment 5, it's not implemented on Windows; so
possibly it's an enhancement request to implement missing functionality
(although I keep it bug, since it creates discrepancy in feature set between
supported platforms).

Similar problem on different platforms should be discussed in dedicated issues
(be it macOS, or a Linux without Gnome, etc).

Of course, one universal solution could be to re-implement this using some
portable library.
