[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129558] New: Automatically Delete Temporary File from Recent File List

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129558

Bug ID: 129558
Summary: Automatically Delete Temporary File from Recent File
List
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: riz_17_...@yahoo.co.id

In some cases, user just open up a temporary document downloaded from web
browser. In Firefox, usually this happens when downloading a file then user
select "Open With: LibreOffice _MODULEHERE_". This document then usually placed
in temporary directory or folder (/tmp/mozilla0_username in case of GNU/Linux
user).

A day after that with assumption the machine has been restarted, the file then
lost as expected from a temporary file handling.

LibreOffice should automatically delete this file in the recent file as the
file has been deleted, or set it as grayed out to tell user that the file has
been opened.

Yes, it is from Fedora 31 for I didn't download or install it.

Today I have installed this version from Flatpak,

And LO Calc and LO Calc BASIC do not crash after downsizing 'Watches Panel' or

That's it, the problem is the VCL.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129557] New: [Feature Request Change of a UI component in "internal bookmarks", at the link of "Target in Document"

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129557

Bug ID: 129557
Summary: [Feature Request Change of a UI component in "internal
bookmarks", at the link of "Target in Document"
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: a09703...@unet.univie.ac.at

Description:
Hello libreoffice developers,

I have a feature request to make, or actually three feature requests; two are
very small and can probably be easily changed, the third one is a bit more
complicated. I will explain this and put some context.

I am using LiberOffice on Linux, latest current stable (well actually, version
is: 6.3.4.2

It works very well.

I have a fairly large document, which I keep as .odt, and then generate a .pdf
from it.

That document has about ... 50 pages or so.

Now, more importantly, I keep an "internal bookmarks" set, to allow people to
click on
the entry in the .pdf file, and jump to the relevant section.

This works fine, but I think the UI could be improved a bit.

I will explain this next:

1) First suggestion:

If you go to "Insert -> Bookmark", and then on "Target in Document", the widget
that
is opened on the left hand side for me, is quite small. I'd say perhaps ... 150
px
wide and 250 px in height, or something like that. It is about less than one
fourth
of the maximized libreoffice main window, so I always end up having to make it
a
bit larger by dragging. I don't know if this is under control of libreoffice
since
perhaps it is the WM/DE that plays a role here (I use icewm right now), but if
it
would be possible, any size increase here would help me. Note that the other
widget
that is opened up, the one BEFORE the bookmark-widget, has a decent size - it
is
perhaps 2x as much or so. So I think libreoffice already has some way to handle
the size somehow I assume.

But this is a very small request anyway. I'll expand on this a bit later.

2) Second suggestion:

This one is actually more important to me since it is more of a convenience
feature.

Right now I always have to click on the widget in order to expand all the
bookmarks.

That is, under "Insert->Hyperlinks", when you click the button on the right
hand
side that says "Target in Document", the widget that is opened up, is not only
small,
but more annoyingly, you have to manually click on expand on the bookmarks, on
that small arrow that faces right. Here I would prefer if the widget is opened
up already in an expanded manner, so that I don't have to manually click on it.

For using this only once or twice, it is not a big deal, but I have about 20
internal bookmarks already, which sometimes change, so I have to manually do
this one after the other ... which is a bit annoying. Changing the UI part here
would be helpful.

Other users may not like this, perhaps, which I can understand, so I actually
would like to suggest a THIRD option on top of that next.

3) Third suggestion:

I believe the best may be to allow for libreoffice to remember the user
choice here, and, if the same widget is opened up again, to retain the old
settings. So for example, IF I clicked on that "expand" arrow before, and
then close libreoffice, the next time I open it up, and that bookmark-widget
is opened, it would open up in a way where I could resume right away with
the old "defaults": in this context, to open up when it is expanded.

This would allow for people to decide on their own, within the application
itself, which variant they would prefer. This is perhaps a bit more
difficult to code, and may require some more discussions in general, but
I want to keep the suggestion here SIMPLE. In particular point #2 of
these three suggestions is the primary reason why I filed this feature
request change.

Thanks for your hard work on libreoffice, it is really a very high quality
suite as-is. Improvements here really help downstream users in regular
tasks (I may eventually try to autogenerate stuff, so that I don't have
to do this manual job, but the macros seem a bit difficult, and right now
I don't have the time as I have to move on doing other things - perhaps
at some later time I may review macros.)

PS: I always use the official binaries from the libreoffice main site,
debian 64 bit, but expand the .deb files before copying the directory
structure on my slackware system. This works very well by the way even
though it is not a debian system.

Steps to Reproduce:
Please see my Description report above.

Actual Results:
Please see my Description report above.

Expected Results:
Please see my Description report above.

I would recommend to adjust the UI a bit here.

Reproducible: Always

Mike Kaganski changed:

 CC||michael.st...@cib.de

Michael: could you please take a look?

The SwTextFrame::MapModelToViewPos code with the assert that own node must be
passed to the function was added in
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/c5abcfdf0c2e98c8f3445a92dd2d71eab23a7268
"sw_redlinehide: add TextFrameIndex type & SwTextFrame mapping functions"
(2018-06-08).

The two calls to the function from ReplaceBackReferences were added in
https://git.libreoffice.org/core/+/5e81b966778d82692b4763d892b457186a7f269d
"sw_redlinehide_4b: FindText() adapt the replace part as well" (2018-12-18).
And the calls are guaranteed to pass a node other than the frame's node: they
are made for a PaM that must start at end of a previous paragraph, and end at
beginning of the next - for single "$" regex that is treated specially: see
[1].

Simply commenting out the assert "solves" the problem. And release builds don't
give crashes here (so I initially thought it's a regression in master, but now
I suspect it only happens in debug builds). Could you see if this is OK, or
does it actually violates some of your assumptions in the code?

Dear Rusbearing,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Sorry -- I should have specified that the technique for linking list styles
with paragraph styles seems to have been worked out Headings. I understand
that in this case, there is an attempt to link list styles with paragraph
styles, which does not seem to be possible manually.

I can reproduce the problem using attachment 76173 with

Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1 (x64)
Build ID: 4d7e5b0c40ed843384704eca3ce21981d4e98920
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: GL; VCL: win;
Locale: da-DK (en_DK); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: CL

Additional comments.

1. Outline level "Heading 1" was set to "Text Body" (but it did not seem to
matter if it was subsequently changed to "Level 1")

2. Selecting the three lines, and toggling the number list (F12) or from
toolbar gave THREE different appearances (but I cannot explain why).

3. After trying to modify a style, then this effect disappears.

4. Tried to get things to work (without success) by modifying the styles. Is
it correct to believe that it is impossible with this method?

5. Open attachment 76173, use Tools > Chapter Numbering. Levels 1 to 4 have
No paragraph style, and "Show sublevels" is 1 for each level.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129451] Is documentation for hide section with condition correct?

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129451

(In reply to Regina Henschel from comment #1)
> I do not understand your problem.

Please note that this ticket was filed in relation to the documentation.

I will try to explain again.

I. Start with the information from:
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/swriter/guide/hidden_text.html?=WRITER=WIN

where it says:

"In the Hide area, select Hide, and then enter an expression in the Condition
box. For example, using the variable you previously defined, enter Hide==1."

Now -- I tried to do this -- *without* previously defining the variable Hide.

Putting the following into the Condition
a. If Hide==1 then the section is shown.
b. If Hide==0 then the section is not shown.

(I now understand the logic here -- when Hide is not defined, it is like "0",
so
case a. 0==1 (or any other non-zero value)is false, therefore show.
case b. 0==0 is true, so do not show.

I must explain that, in the first instance, I thought, naively, that I would
just try Hide==1, like the documentation says (but without defining "Hide"),
just to see what would happen.

Point 1:

I was surprised that:

a. I could get an effect, even though I had not defined Hide.
b. that the effect was the opposite of what the documentation was suggesting.

This raised a question for me about whether the documentation was adequate.

II. This experience motivated a new experiment, where now "Hide" would be
defined as a variable.

If I just put the variable Hide alone into the condition, then if Hide has
value 0, it is shown, and value 1 then it is hidden.

Point 2. If the "recommended" way to use the "With Condition" is with a
predefined Hide variable, then why mention Hide==1 in the documentation, when
this can be controlled "externally" so to speak by setting the Hide variable?

(It seems necessary only to put Hide, and then suggest that the variable value
should be changed.)

III. Now that I could see that I could control the section appearance with
Hide alone, then I was curious about the interaction between the external
variable and Hide==1 (in the "With Condition").

So -- please look at Test 5 (step 6) in the original report.

Thanks to your comment, I understand now why this result appears. But...

Point 3. Notice how this example "contradicts" the help page. Now we have put
in Hide==1 but the section is not hidden. Again my point is not the logic of
what has happened in the software, but the confusion that is likely to arise
with the way the help is written.

I am reasonably certain that the documentation can/should be improved -- but
was uncertain about a good/preferred way. If you could help me with the
formulation, then I can make the "commits" in the source.

Along the same lines, please look at
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/swriter/01/04020100.html?=WRITER=WIN

It has a slightly better discussion of the condition, but it also has:

"Another example would be to create the field variable "x" and set its value to
1. Then specify a condition based on this variable for hiding a section, such
as: "x eq 1". If you want to display the section, set the value of the variable
"x" to "0".

Again, it seems unnecessary (and confusing) to put "x eq 1" into the "With
condition" -- as noted in Point 2, it is enough to just change the field
variable.

In short, before I started this, I was a naive user, trying to understand how
"With condition" works. Now I am hoping to modify the documentation so that
others can continue to be naive users, but can at least get some advantage from
hiding sections (e.g., to hide answers to questions in a school paper), without
having to become sophisticated about conditional logic. I assume sophisticated
users (who know about writing and using conditional expressions) will not need
the documentation, while semi-sophisticated might be less confused with a more
parsimonious explanation.

Sorry for the length, but I hope this clarifies --

In step 2 the condition is "Hide==1" and the value of variable Hide is 0 from

correct.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129555] The caption of the textbox isn't placed at to top of the textbox

sdc.bla...@youmail.dk changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||sdc.bla...@youmail.dk

Can reproduce with

Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1 (x64)
Build ID: 4d7e5b0c40ed843384704eca3ce21981d4e98920
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: GL; VCL: win;
Locale: en-US (en_DK); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: CL

Additional information:

1. Workaround (or preferable approach): Insert frame (interactively),
right-click on frame-insert caption, in Position field, choose "Start".

(friendly warning. If you use frames, and intend to export to .doc/docx, then
do not anchor any images or shapes to the frame, but to a paragraph in the
frame, see bug #67318 and bug #49184). If you will not export, then no
warnings.

2. Reason why initial procedure does not work is:

a. textbox is a Shape.
b. By inserting a caption to this shape, a frame is introduced that starts
at the top of the textbox -- making it impossible for the caption to appear at
the top.
c. Resizing the textbox or changing its wrap will allow the caption to
come to the top.
d. But this textbox cannot be anchored to the frame that was created -- so
the textbox will/can be moved around the canvas, without the caption following
along. (not a good situation).
e. Therefore, it is wise to make the frame bigger than than the textbox,
then you can anchor it to the frame.

3. Maybe this bug should be described more in terms of the relation between
the frame and shape when a caption is added to a shape, because the same
"behavior" can also be observed/produced with geometric shapes (including
lines), QR codes (in 6.4) -- where resizing the textbox in relation to the
frame will allow the caption to come to the top.

I will leave the question to more knowledgeable persons about whether this bug
report should be adapted to this more fundamental explanation about what
happens when captions are added to shapes, or whether I should file a separate
report.

Inserted a cross-reference to a heading, a bookmark, and to a numbered
paragraph, but nothing showed up in the Navigator under bookmarks. But
inserted bookmarks appear under bookmarks in Navigator. Therefore:

Cannot reproduce with

Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64)

and

Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1 (x64)
Build ID: 4d7e5b0c40ed843384704eca3ce21981d4e98920

NB -- if you copy and paste text from webpages, this can introduce "mysterious"
bookmarks into your navigator (under bookmarks). The given example
_Ref392861719 does not look like the Field codes inserted with Libreoffice
cross-reference.

In short, WFM

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Summary: Misleading Help information for Calc Pivot Table
keyboard shortcuts
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.0.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stevemfanning...@gmail.com

Description:
The Help information for Pivot Table keyboard shortcuts may need updating to
correctly reflect the current implementation of Calc's Pivot Tables, using the
Pivot Table Layout dialog. In particular:
(1) The shortcuts relating to the Page (Alt P) and Available Fields (Alt+A)
should be mentioned, alongside those for the Row, Column and Data Fields.
(2) The Alt+O shortcurt opens up the Options area on the dialog and does not
display options for the current field.
(3) The Ctrl+Arrow, Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End shortcuts no longer appear relevant.

The affected Help page may be found at
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/en-US/text/scalc/04/0102.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3145801
(section headed Using the pivot table). Obviously this URL will vary depending
on the LO version being used.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Help viewer.
2. Select shortcuts in Index search.
3. Scroll down to Using the pivot table section.
4. Review text against implementation.

Actual Results:
Help descriptions appear to be incorrect as described above.

Expected Results:
Correct descriptions.

Reproducible: Always

The initial report was for Alphabetical Index, but the problem seems to be the
same for the other Index Types (e.g., Table of Figures, Index of Tables, etc.)

Relevant help pages exist for these other Types.

Additional information:

1. If F1 is used, then relevant (existing) pages are shown.
2. But -- because the top half of the dialog box reuses material from Table of
Contents page, then F1 will also go to Table of Contents page.

Illustrative example.

1. Insert > Table of Contents and Index > Table of Contents, Index or
Bibliography - Type Tab.

2. Under Type and Title, select Alphabetical Index

3a. Place cursor in Title box, press F1
Result: Table of Contents Help page

3b. Place cursor in "Combine identical entries, press F1
 Result: Alphabetical Index Help page

3c. Please cursor anywhere, press Help button
Result: Table of Contents Help page

Have not tested the other variations for the other Index types.

4. Maybe there used to be only one help page (for Table of Contents) in the
past, so the dialog box is constructed in a way that this Help Button has
become the default for all the variations.

Can confirm. Ideally the perfectly-scaling SVG version would be the only
Breeze-style icon theme available, and the SVGs would have embedded stylesheets
that let them actually use colors from the user's color scheme. That's what
Breeze icons do.

tdf#123505 svx: fix invalidation loop caused by special form control geometry

Regression from commit d464d505fbf6e53a38afdd3661d320fac8c760d6
(Refactor calc non-linear ViewToDevice transform, 2018-10-12), the
problem was that the opengl menu was never painted from the starved idle
handler as a paint-invalidation loop starved the main loop.

ScGridWindow::Paint() called vcl::Window::ImplPosSizeWindow() for the
form control of the bugdoc, which triggered an invalidation -> paint ->
start again.

Checking what adjustControlGeometry_throw() did, the result of the
transformed points are quite close to each other, but not equivalent:

debug:18521:18521: adjustControlGeometry_throw: aTopLeft before transformation
is (1773,426)
debug:18521:18521: adjustControlGeometry_throw: aTopLeft after transformation
is (64.935,16.0382)
debug:18521:18521: adjustControlGeometry_throw: aPaintRectPixel is
952x586@(64,16)

If we round, rather than truncate, then the size of the control is
always the same, so no actual resize and invalidation happens during
paint.

Thanks for telling me &.
Probably faster than using concat, probably.
And the text function doesn't fix this.
That would make all the numbers "0" and have no meaningful result.

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128858

(In reply to Dieter Praas from comment #0)
> Actually index headings have outline level "Body Text" by default. This
> should be changed to level 1. This would have some advantages:

I was looking at how to solve this in the source code -- which raised the
following questions.

1. Perhaps "Index Heading" (as a Parent) should remain at "Text Body"
(comparable to Heading). Alternatively, maybe Index Heading should be changed
to Level 1 (on the assumption that users would interpret this label as Level
1)?

2. Independent of the answer to the first question, presumably all the children
to "Index Heading" (e.g, "Bibliography Heading", "Figure Index Heading") should
also be level 1?

Given that they are all 16pt. bold, as a user, I would assume that they appear
at the same level, and could either choose "Index Heading" and/or one more of
the children -- expecting them to show up at the same level in a Table of
Contents.

3. And just to anticipate or avoid a problem. Is it possible (yes), likely
(don't know) that "heading" styles would be used in the text after Index
Heading. In that case, "Heading 1" would be at the same level as "Index
Heading" which would probably not be intended (from a user perspective).

A user, with proper knowledge, could easily fix this -- but the original
problem that lead to this opening this ticket arose because of this "lack of
knowledge".

I do not see any obvious way around this situation.

Fair enough... except that, clearly, this is not a bug, it's a feature request.

If there was somewhere else to submit a feature request, that'd be more
appropriate. But my understanding is that this is all there is.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128453] Slide disappears if "empty" layout is chosen on iOS

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128453

Thanks a lot Tor for the investigation and your comments.

I still believe that there's something fishy here.

I test with 4.2 (27) and what the "empty" layout in my opinion should do is,
removing the "content frames" (like the frame/box with the "title" and the
frame/box with the "main content").

What it actually does, is "hiding" the entire slide (or let's maybe call it
"make it invisible").

I believe the following "facts" support my opinion:

* choose the "title + main content" layout (the second one in the sidebar list)
* set the background color of the slide to a color (e.g blue)
* select the "title frame/box" hit the backspace key on the HW keyboard
* select the "main content frame/box" hit the backspace key of the HW keyboard
Result: the slides "vanishes" - IMHO the "slide canvas" with the blue
background should still be visible.

Now do the same thing again, but put a picture on the slide.
* choose the "title + main content" layout (the second one in the sidebar list)
* set the background color of the slide to a color (e.g blue)
* add a random picture to the slide
* select the "title frame/box" hit the backspace key on the HW keyboard
* select the "main content frame/box" hit the backspace key of the HW keyboard
Result: the slides stays.

In my humble opinion, the "canvas" should not disappear if a user removes the
content "frames". But I might be wrong here - happy to understand why this
should be the way how it is. Maybe Aron has some insights here?

I'll add a video.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129549] New: Bullet and Numbering icon appears twice in

2019-12-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129549

Bug ID: 129549
Summary: Bullet and Numbering icon appears twice in
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sdc.bla...@youmail.dk

To see problem:

1. Tools > Customize - Toolbars tab
2. In search field, write: "bul"

Actual Result: Bullets and Numbering Appears twice

Expected result: ??

Additional information:

1. From registry information, probably one icon is for:

.uno:BulletsAndNumberingDialog (from UI.WriterCommands)

while the other is for:

.uno:OutlineBullet (from UI.GenericCommands)

2. Added both icons to a toolbar, tested, seem to give same result.

3. This report is made in case someone thinks there is a problem such as:
(a) the icons should be different
(b) there was an intention for these two uno commands to have a different
effect
(c) maybe the source code can/should be unified here

Tested with 4.2.x - it's now possible to delete a table.

I think, this issue can be closed.

Thanks a lot to the Collabora Team and especially Tor for taking care of this!
