Have tested with LO 6.4.0.3 on OpenSUSE 15.1.
On both sides of the wizard-dialog the buttons with arrow-up won't work.
Buttons with arrow-down will work here.

I couldn't set this bug to "New" because the report says: Both buttons, up and
down, won't work.

The second, refresh of the dialog, won't appear in LO 7 daily build. Seems it
has been fixed together with other graphical bugs in Base-dialogues.

Assign any shortcut you like.

In Calc main menu, Tools -> Customize... dialog. On the 'Keyboard' for 'Calc'
module.

You'll want the "Paste Only Numbers" entry ('.uno:PasteOnlyValue'), or if you
prefer the "Paste Unformatted Text" entry ('.uno:PasteUnformatted') which as
noted is assigned the shortcut +++V.

As can be infinitely customized by user--no valid requirement to change what
are reasonable UI defaults.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55960] Filling cells with incremental numbers – wrong numbers

2020-02-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55960

In double precision,

> 0.05*39=1.9502
> -2+0.05*39=-0.049822

First idea is that if we returned not only the increment from the approxDiff,
but also the number of decimals for rounding (which is 15 in this case), and
then used the rounding in the following calculation of the resulting increment
for each cell, then this specific sequence would be OK.

Yet, this is not a full solution, since this would fail with longer sequences,
like "-22;-21.95;...". That is because when multiplying the atomic increment,
we also need to decrease resulting absolute precision proportionally (so if
initially it's 5E-16 for 0.05, then for 0.05*39, it's 5*E-16*39=1.95E-14, so we
need to round the result of 0.05*39 to 14 decimals).

Eike: if agreed, I suggest to make this an easy hack.

OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer

  Reporter: mkass...@internode.net

At present Autotext does not work on individual characters. I would like to be
able to type i followed by F3 to obtain the fi ligature (say, in Times New
Roman). Autotext does this if i is the first letter of a word, but not
otherwise (for a word beginning 'afi' if I type 'ai' followed by F3 it says it
cannot find the Autotext entry for 'ai').

Google Sheets indeed does not have this bug, because this is not a bug

Please stop spamming, and learn reading (I wrote that you need to set it to
show enough digits); learn using the tool (discover for yourself how to control
shown precision); learn what precision is (equivalency of 0.5... and
0.4... is useful here, studied in intermediate school); and finally, learn
using bug tracker - and stop abusing this issue with unrelated messages.
Thanks!

I simply cannot select and move the fields up or down anymore. The up and down
arrow buttons don't work. It won't work on both sides - either Source table or
Destination table.

The other minor glitch is that the controls aren't correctly drawn on the
window. I have to resize the window so that the controls refresh and adjust on
the window.

Reinstalling previous version 6.3.5 solves the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127801] SCROLLING: Optimal View Zoom Moves Left-Right, with no convenient means to recenter the view

2020-02-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127801

Thanks V Stuart Foote for drawing my attention to bug 37817.

Generally, I see the scroll bar requirement for off-canvas elements. Your
expert input confirm what I did not know but suspected at comment 15 when I
stated that a suggestion depends on whether horizontal scrolling is desirable
in Optimal View.

Where access to off-canvas elements is required, horizontal scrolling is
obviously not just desirable, but also necessary.

Question is: can one of the zoom modes be dedicated to the case when the user
deliberately decides not to access off-canvas elements by selecting said zoom
mode?

I cannot volunteer technical suggestion on the specific implementation as I
know practically nothing of LibreOffice internals. Not sure that extra
clicking or GUI action should be necessary. I'd rather prefer the document to
ignore the (unintended) horizontal movements on the touchpad.

I can volunteer that semantically, "Optimal View" makes me think of the most
readable view (so: largest fonts / optimization of horizontal space to show
only the text between the margins, knowing that I would see only parts of the
off-canvas elements) with the most scrolling comfort (so: guided vertically).

A follow-up question is whether there needs to be an extra action to exit this
kind of "guardrail scrolling mode" or the selection of any other zoom mode in
the menu is sufficient? Assuming that the guardrail mode is implemented,
either in lieu of Optimal View or as an additional zoom mode.

As for the duplicate status, I will leave the decision to you, as you manage
development and this analysis is input to your development work. Do what makes
your life easier, and let me know what I can contribute. There is definitely
overlap. It is also kind of daunting to see that bug 37817 has been around for
so many years. Optimal Zoom as it stands today *almost* does the job. What is
it that makes it so difficult to lock horizontal scrolling? I do not mind the
horizontal bars remaining on screen (the optimization is horizontal). I just
do not want my clumsy touchpad movement to scroll the document out of the
horizontal optimum position.

Thanks again.

2. Navigate to the first page of Endnotes, p. 11. Note that in the "Header" tab
of the "Endnote" page style, the "Same content on left and right pages" and
"Same content on first page" are UNCHECKED.
3. Now change the text of the header (or its style) on the first page of
endnotes.

EXPECTED RESULT: No other header should be affected.
ACTUAL RESULT: The header on p. 13 also changes.

OK - here is an image that shows the problem.

First I am again on Ubuntu 18.04, but this is using the latest LO-Dev 7.0
build.

I was trying to point out in the earlier 'how to recreate' is that the Master
Slie button is only left without the visual clue that it has been selected when
the user clicks on it while the Normal View button is active.

If you click on any of the other buttons first, ie Slide Sorter, and the Master
View the visual clue that Master View button was selected works.

The problem works the other way also.
If the user clicks on the Normal View button while the Master View button has
the highlighting then the view changes but the Normal Button does not show the
highlighting. Again, if any other combination of From -> To buttons is used the
highlighting works as expected.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130911] New: Policy on converting Perl scripts to Python

2020-02-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130911

Bug ID: 130911
Summary: Policy on converting Perl scripts to Python
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jpakk...@gmail.com

As per the discussion in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/89262

I would like to propose that converting Perl scripts used in Libreoffice can be
ported to Python without needing any special rationale. The reasons for this
are:

- more people know Python than Perl
- new developers (i.e. anyone under 35) do not know Perl at all
- Python is a lot more readable in any case
- Python has builtin functionality for a lot things where Perl needs to call
external executables (like zip, tar), reducing dependencies
- Converting all Perl code to Python is (in practice) a requirement for
removing Cygwin as a build dependency on Windows

In practice this would mean that merge requests that convert Perl to Python
could just have this in their commit messages:

See tdf#X for motivation.

Oh.
LibreOffice uses IEEE 754 double precision, which has 53 bits mantissa, and so
no less than 15 decimal digits precision. That is much higher than 8 decimal
digits that that you look for. You seem to not understand the precision, those
...9... confusing you.

Thank you for your reply Mike, I appreciate your links.

For users, personally I don't feel infinite precision is not needed. Just
accurate decimal precision, up to 8 would be ideal for most accountants etc we
work with. If coded in a soft decimal lib, that's only 27 bits, but I
appreciate, you'd have to code this in software, as compilers just generate
code for double precision.

Could I ask, does your precision patch also resolve this test case? anyway,
good to have a second test case.

that being "a comp sci", you could understand the essence of the problem here,
where LibreOffice incorrectly converts entered text "0.042" into corresponding
closest IEEE 754 double precision number. LibreOffice has a bug here, which is
identified, and a solution is needed, and is being developed. This has been
described here, right in comment 0, so hopefully you could understand that.
Taking that into account, if we fix this bug, i.e. will convert "0.042" into
the *closest* binary representation (which is still not exactly equal to 0.042:
see [1]), then LibreOffice would automatically start showing the *same* result
in this example.

Which doesn't mean that it would also show expected results everywhere: e.g.,
see the example I put into the FAQ [2]. So here comes *your* PoV (which *we*
understand clearly): that either Calc must calculate that precisely (which
requires software calculations with infinite precision, and is clear WONTFIX),
or that it at least should not show that to user automatically (unless
explicitly told so), i.e. to limit automatic number format precision - which is
what I recommended you to file separately.

I *hope* that now you realize that we do understand you, and it's time for you
to make an effort to understand *us*.

I can reproduce it under Fedora 31. It's important to have the sidebar expanded
already when the document opened. So first open Draw, expand the sidebar, close
Draw, and only then open the document.

confirming, but i think the root cause is a missing "refresh":

Summary:
After adding a property, it is not shown in dialog:
Menu File/Properties/[Custom Properties]

But it will be shown after a save & reload cycle.
And once it's shown in properties dialog, one can delete it.

I didn't file "your bug". I filed the real problem, that I found when checked
your test case; and *this* bug is not about what you would like it to be, but
is about what I filed it for.

If you want to reduce the maximum precision of default number format, please
file *that* request separately; and in that request, this specific testcase
(0.043-0.042) is *not* suitable, because it demonstrates a *different* problem
(that is handled here).
