[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131204] Exceptionally slow SORTING
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131204 --- Comment #11 from Colin --- I just noticed the slowdown was occurring over the first two days of the bug report. I ran the thing again on day two with the 8-second timing. Would that preclude any background effects from a WIN update or is it conceivable the update broke something and got fixed during the last 5 days? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131204 Colin changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |FIXED Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED --- Comment #10 from Colin --- This is embarrassing. I have just processed the sheet with today's update and the sort was practically instantaneous. As the job is always performed as the first task on a Saturday morning I would have expected my own PC environmental status to be consistent. This makes me suspect there may have been a massive Win10 automatic update process running in the background. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. A learning process, next time check the damn task manager for additional activities - Look before I Leap. My apologies, I have also set the status to RESOLVED, hope that's the right thing to do. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I am curious how exactly do you > consider it would be easier. Let me say that I don't want to diss the setup you have running. On my side, I'm not used to using bugzilla. On the other hand, I've discussed some issues for free software tools hosted on GitHub and I found the experience very smooth, e.g. https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues Here are some points I find better off of the top of my head: - comment writing is much cleaner: - there's no quotation of the comment you are replying to in the start of the text you're entering (like when I'm writing this) - markdown is supported and allows inserting `code`, and images as printscreens, as well as nested lists (like this one), - you can +1 other comments or use emojis - no need to log-in to bugzilla, or a project based webservice - I'm always logged in on GitHub/GitLab so I don't have to remmember/reset my password like I did today : ) - searching for issues allows for tags I'm not sure if bugzilla offers any of these, but again people are more or less used to working on GitHub/GitLab, and having a different forum for different projects get's time to get accustomed to. This ultimately hurts issues reporting and the project. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131304] [META] MS Word compatiblityMode = 15
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131304 --- Comment #4 from Justin L --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #3) Hi Mike. Yes, this is exactly the kind of conversation we want to have here. I think the key here is understanding comment 1. From my understanding, ultimately compatibilityMode has ALMOST NOTHING to do with layout, but mostly with allowing advanced options in the UI. > Does taking into account the document's original compatibility mode make > sense? Absolutely. It basically is required in order to fulfil the intention of being nice to the "oldest version user". And we have been doing that (round-tripping the existing compat mode) since 2014-ish. > Writing it back implies that we also write the data according to that > mode. Do we implement writing things differently for those levels? Yes, but the impact is minimal because there are currently only two cases where export differentiates. When we don't it results in bug reports. However, there are VERY few current exceptions based on compatibilityMode. The ones I could find in the code are noted in the "blocked" section of this bug report. > When someone edits a DOCX in LO, one sees the data as it was imported; and > expects that it shows in Word identically. There are two possible ways to > *approach* that: > 1. We stick to a chosen compatibility mode, and write everything accordingly; That would break the spirit of compatibility mode - to overwrite with a NEWER mode. In a shared document context, that puts the user of old Word 2007 at a disadvantage, because now new MS Word will start to add features that old Word 2007 can't understand. Of course, we could revert and say that we will only write in the oldest 2007 mode from now on, but I don't think you are suggesting that... > In any case, we likely should have flexible *import* code taking the > original mode into account - to read it as it was in original document. Nothing new here. We already have to handle importing every possible compatibilityMode. But there hasn't been much in the past 7 years. > 2. We implement export methods for each possible compatibility mode, > but do we want to make the nightmare of supporting export zoo? We already have to do this too - since we round-trip the mode. Considering that the mode number (15) hasn't changed since 2013, there is no nightmare situation here. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131328] New: Libreoffice Calc cell's show wrong dates when it is for February 2020
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131328 Bug ID: 131328 Summary: Libreoffice Calc cell's show wrong dates when it is for February 2020 Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.7.3 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: sunbear@gmail.com Description: Whenever dates pertaining to February 2020 are keyed, it always show the dates with the year appearing as 20. For example, 05/02/2020 will appear as 05/02/20. This issue does not happen for Jan or Mar 2020. To fix this problem, I do a right-click of the mouse and select "Format Cells..." . Thereafter, I set (Category= Date), (Format Code = DD/MM/YY) and click "Ok". The correct date format is now shown. A few months ago, this approach could not fix this date format issue. Now it works. But, there is a new issue. When I not click the cell with the newly formatted date to go into edit mode, the date format in the edit-mode reverts back to the default date format of MM/DD/YY instead of retaining the DD/MM/YYY format. It happens only in the cell edit mode for the column B; quite confusing for a user. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to any cell in column B and type 05/02/2020, i.e. 5th of Feb 2020. 2. Right-click cell and select Format Cell 3. Set (Category= Date), (Format Code = DD/MM/YY) and click "Ok". 4. Double click cell again. Actual Results: Showed 02/05/20 in cell edit mode. Expected Results: Show 05/02/2020 Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Nil -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131304 --- Comment #3 from Mike Kaganski --- Does taking into account the document's original compatibility mode make sense? Writing it back implies that we also write the data according to that mode. Do we implement writing things differently for those levels? When someone edits a DOCX in LO, one sees the data as it was imported; and expects that it shows in Word identically. There are two possible ways to *approach* that: 1. We stick to a chosen compatibility mode, and write everything accordingly; 2. We implement export methods for each possible compatibility mode. In any case, we likely should have flexible *import* code taking the original mode into account - to read it as it was in original document; but do we want to make the nightmare of supporting export zoo? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
