[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131204] Exceptionally slow SORTING

2020-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131204

I just noticed the slowdown was occurring over the first two days of the bug
report. I ran the thing again on day two with the 8-second timing. Would that
preclude any background effects from a WIN update or is it conceivable the
update broke something and got fixed during the last 5 days?

This is embarrassing.
I have just processed the sheet with today's update and the sort was
practically instantaneous.
As the job is always performed as the first task on a Saturday morning I would
have expected my own PC environmental status to be consistent.
This makes me suspect there may have been a massive Win10 automatic update
process running in the background. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
A learning process, next time check the damn task manager for additional
activities - Look before I Leap.
My apologies, I have also set the status to RESOLVED, hope that's the right
thing to do.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this
kind of behaviour.
Indeed, whatever embedded Firebird or embedded HSQLDB, if I put 4 decimals, I
can put (EnUS UI but French decimal so ","):
1
1,1
1,11
but 1,111 is changed into 1,11

Just checked for this bug in (pre-release 6.4.2.2):

Version: 6.4.2.2 (x64)
Build ID: 4e471d8c02c9c90f512f7f9ead8875b57fcb1ec3
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win;

Calc: threaded

Macro execution problem seen in 7.0.0.0 is NOT seen in 6.4.2.2.
No other bugs are evident at this time in this test case (timespreader file).
That is, all macros, computations and data display seem to be as expected when
in 6.4.2.2.

It was an easy solution for this problem guys. :-/

The Excel 2003 XML format was removed from Calc, so this bug is no longer
present in LO 6.4 as one cannot save in Excel 2003 XML at all. Not only
formulas, nothing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131331] New: Header: If you select just TEXT, the selection wrongly incorporates a nearby frame

2020-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131331

Bug ID: 131331
Summary: Header: If you select just TEXT, the selection wrongly
incorporates a nearby frame
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: greenandpleasant2000-supp...@yahoo.co.uk

Created attachment 158671
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=158671=edit
Writer doc demonstrating a text selection issue

Version: 6.4.1.2 (x64)
Build ID: 4d224e95b98b138af42a64d84056446d09082932
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI-Language: en-GB
Calc: threaded

This problem occurs in Headers (and maybe Footers as well?) but AFAIK not in
the main body of text.

1. Open the attached writer document.
2. On page 2, select the text in the header ("Recto Page") using triple click
or any other method.
3. Cut the text.

EXPECTED RESULT: Only the Header text should be selected.
ACTUAL RESULT: The frame, which is separate from the text (and contains the
page number) is WRONGLY selected as well. Note that if you reduce the selection
by one letter, the frame is released.

Bug ID: 131330
Summary: Firebird/View-editor: Views aren't shown in table
directly after creating a view
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.2.1 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)

Status: UNCONFIRMED

Open a Firebird database.
Go to Tables > Create View...
Create a simple view of a table with the view (query) editor.
Save the view.
The editor will close automatically.
The view won't be shown in the "Tables" section.

Go to View > Refresh Tables and click on it.
The view will be shown.

Expected behavior: The vie will directly be shown after I have created it by
the view.
Refresh tables should only be needed for creating views (or tables) by Tools >
SQL

Yes: No further update.

The notebook is an Apple MacBook Pro, designed for macOS, not for Windows. It's
official supported by Apple for Windows 7, but not for Windows 10.

Independent of the graphic driver, no program should hang at all. A right
solution would be an error message, that the driver is not supported or it
should be handled automatically.

The graphic driver is the latest update, got from the Windows Update. The
manufactur of the computer (Apple MacBook Pro 2012) does not offer a driver for
Windows 10.

Created attachment 158669
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=158669=edit
Requested opengl_device.log

I disabled OpenCL like requested here:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps#Graphics-related_issues_.28OpenGL.29

With this, SOffice.exe starts without problem too.

But I tried to deactivate the hardware escalerator by using the --safe-mode
parameter before. That didn't work.

Seems there are multiple problems with LibreOffice, which should be fixed by
the developer.

Let me say that I don't want to diss the setup you have running. On my side,
I'm not used to using bugzilla. On the other hand, I've discussed some issues
for free software tools hosted on GitHub and I found the experience very
smooth, e.g. https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues

Here are some points I find better off of the top of my head:
- comment writing is much cleaner:
   - there's no quotation of the comment you are replying to in the start of
the text you're entering (like when I'm writing this)
   - markdown is supported and allows inserting `code`, and images as
printscreens, as well as nested lists (like this one),
   - you can +1 other comments or use emojis
- no need to log-in to bugzilla, or a project based webservice - I'm always
logged in on GitHub/GitLab so I don't have to remmember/reset my password like
I did today : )
- searching for issues allows for tags

I'm not sure if bugzilla offers any of these, but again people are more or less
used to working on GitHub/GitLab, and having a different forum for different
projects get's time to get accustomed to. This ultimately hurts issues
reporting and the project.

Maybe this discussion should be in a different thread? : )

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
When presenting with dual screen in Libre Office Impress, the presenter has
this very useful "presenter view" which shows upcoming slides, notes and
elapsed time.
IMAGE: https://i.stack.imgur.com/SRqdv.png

But one thing you can't see on, is the elements that are about to pop in on
next click, if you are using animations. This is default in PowerPoint.

I think it should be implemented

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131304] [META] MS Word compatiblityMode = 15

2020-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131304

(In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #3)
Hi Mike. Yes, this is exactly the kind of conversation we want to have here. I
think the key here is understanding comment 1. From my understanding,
ultimately compatibilityMode has ALMOST NOTHING to do with layout, but mostly
with allowing advanced options in the UI.

> Does taking into account the document's original compatibility mode make
> sense?
Absolutely. It basically is required in order to fulfil the intention of being
nice to the "oldest version user". And we have been doing that (round-tripping
the existing compat mode) since 2014-ish.

> Writing it back implies that we also write the data according to that
> mode. Do we implement writing things differently for those levels?
Yes, but the impact is minimal because there are currently only two cases where
export differentiates. When we don't it results in bug reports. However, there
are VERY few current exceptions based on compatibilityMode. The ones I could
find in the code are noted in the "blocked" section of this bug report.

> When someone edits a DOCX in LO, one sees the data as it was imported; and
> expects that it shows in Word identically. There are two possible ways to
> *approach* that:
> 1. We stick to a chosen compatibility mode, and write everything accordingly;
That would break the spirit of compatibility mode - to overwrite with a NEWER
mode. In a shared document context, that puts the user of old Word 2007 at a
disadvantage, because now new MS Word will start to add features that old Word
2007 can't understand. Of course, we could revert and say that we will only
write in the oldest 2007 mode from now on, but I don't think you are suggesting
that...

> In any case, we likely should have flexible *import* code taking the
> original mode into account - to read it as it was in original document.
Nothing new here. We already have to handle importing every possible
compatibilityMode. But there hasn't been much in the past 7 years.

> 2. We implement export methods for each possible compatibility mode,
> but do we want to make the nightmare of supporting export zoo?
We already have to do this too - since we round-trip the mode.

Considering that the mode number (15) hasn't changed since 2013, there is no
nightmare situation here. The nightmare could come at the NEXT revision - and
at that time we could decide to NOT round-trip the next version number, but
replace it with the old 15 that we support - which is exactly the intention of
this flag.

I tested further more.

Right now I found a way to start SOffice.exe without "--safe-mode". To do this,
I need the file registrymodifications.xcu with the following content:

http://openoffice.org/2001/registry;
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema;
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance;>
Intel(R)
Corporation 1.1--6.3.2.2--1556963808

Since I need this, removing the user profile or resetting to factory settings
does not work.

For me, this problem is solved, I know how to use LibreOffice as well. But
imho, this problem is a bug in LibreOffice and should be fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131328] New: Libreoffice Calc cell's show wrong dates when it is for February 2020

2020-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131328

Bug ID: 131328
Summary: Libreoffice Calc cell's show wrong dates when it is
for February 2020
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.7.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sunbear@gmail.com

Description:
Whenever dates pertaining to February 2020 are keyed, it always show the dates
with the year appearing as 20. For example, 05/02/2020 will appear as 05/02/20.
This issue does not happen for Jan or Mar 2020.

To fix this problem, I do a right-click of the mouse and select "Format
Cells..." . Thereafter, I set (Category= Date), (Format Code = DD/MM/YY) and
click "Ok".

The correct date format is now shown. A few months ago, this approach could not
fix this date format issue. Now it works. But, there is a new issue. When I not
click the cell with the newly formatted date to go into edit mode, the date
format in the edit-mode reverts back to the default date format of MM/DD/YY
instead of retaining the DD/MM/YYY format. It happens only in the cell edit
mode for the column B; quite confusing for a user.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any cell in column B and type 05/02/2020, i.e. 5th of Feb 2020.
2. Right-click cell and select Format Cell
3. Set (Category= Date), (Format Code = DD/MM/YY) and click "Ok".
4. Double click cell again.

Actual Results:
Showed 02/05/20 in cell edit mode.

Expected Results:
Show 05/02/2020

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Note: This is only for "Format single data label".

Mass "Format data labels" for fonts size and color didn't work from before,
repro 3.5 (rotation and border work). ImplementationError. Another bug, unless

Fixed in 6.3.6 and 6.4.2

by commit d978f5d40102a098f1faf1e98aa39ad122284299
Author: Michael Stahl Mon Feb 10 19:20:03 2020 +0100
related: tdf#106742 sw: DOCX import/export: fix default of table indent

There's a compatibilityMode in word/settings.xml in DOCX files:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/office_standards/ms-docx/90138c4d-eb18-4edc-aa6c-dfb799cb1d0d

If a document doesn't contain compatibilityMode, then the default
is 12, but the code for table indent import/export assumed that the
default is 15, so loading an ODF document and exporting as DOCX results
in wrong table indent when loaded in Word.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131304] [META] MS Word compatiblityMode = 15

2020-03-13 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131304

Does taking into account the document's original compatibility mode make sense?
Writing it back implies that we also write the data according to that mode. Do
we implement writing things differently for those levels? When someone edits a
DOCX in LO, one sees the data as it was imported; and expects that it shows in
Word identically. There are two possible ways to *approach* that:

1. We stick to a chosen compatibility mode, and write everything accordingly;
2. We implement export methods for each possible compatibility mode.

In any case, we likely should have flexible *import* code taking the original
mode into account - to read it as it was in original document; but do we want
to make the nightmare of supporting export zoo?

> Is this bug still being worked on?
I have made many changes to the libetonyek code, so it should now be able to
retrieve more stuff from recent files. However, for these changes to appear in
LibreOffice, a new release of libetonyek must be made (and I don't know how to
do that).

> Or, is there a workaround for this?
If you know how to compile it, you can recompile the new libetonyek code see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/DLP/Libraries/libetonyek and then recompile
a standalone version of writerperfect see
https://sourceforge.net/p/libwpd/wiki/writerperfect/ ...
