Please ignore this about clicking on a menu item, but not the MotD part.

video demo of crash

It only happens for me when done immediately after the document opens. If the
MotD window appears, or if another action like clicking on a menu item in the
main menu is done first, it does not happen.

I repro on both:
  Lubuntu/Ubuntu 19.04 LXQt Version: 0.14.1
  Lubunto/Ubuntu 18.04 LXDE

The blanking of the Navigator content view, seen in the attached video, also
occurs for me when Edit... replaces the repro step of Rename... but does not
crash on exit of the dialog like rename does.

I have got OOo2.4.3. That is from Aug 2009. And I have got OOo3.2.1. That is
from May 2010. It works in OOo2.4.3 and is broken in OOo3.2.1.

Ralated to the bug 131608.

Then the bug is that tables aren't into frames by default.

I say this, because when I try to open a .doc or .docx document, tables can be
anywhere in the page, and they usually are, whereas LibreOffice open it, they
aren't placed in their correct positions.

There are already two autocorrect entry strings defined to insert the Unicode
U+2026 HORIZONTAL ELIPSIS (drawn from the current paragraph's font or
fallback).

Either of these strings will convert.

"..." (this is the .*... AC table entry),

":.:" (this is the "new" emoji entry).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131614] New: Ellipsis inconsistencies

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131614

Bug ID: 131614

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Reporter: li...@davidviner.com

Created attachment 159056
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=159056=edit
Three image captures demonstrating the ellipsis "strangeness".

Adding 3 stops (...) followed by a closing quote (single or double) doesn't
convert the ... to an ellipsis character as it requires a subsequent space to
be typed for the conversion to take place. This requires the user to go through
the document manually in order to convert them by adding a space between the
... and quote and then deleting the space afterwards. Also, adding three dots
into already existing text doesn't convert them either unless the space is
entered. As, in prose, it is common to show a conversation trails off by using
ellipsis before a closing quote, it would seem beneficial to me for the
conversion to take place when the third . is entered and not wait for the space
following, which wouldn't normally be entered in the example I give.

Trying to do a search and replace brings up a real problem in that entering ...
as the search term and … (the ellipsis) as the replacement results in ...…
instead of just … - it adds instead of replacing!

Another problem: a lot of the time, when entering the space, Writer will repeat
the preceding word along with the ellipsis. Deleting the space removes the
unwanted original word with the 3 dots, leaving the text as we want it, e.g.
one copy of the word with the ellipsis following. But this extra stage where
the preceding word is repeated probably needs investigating as it doesn't feel
natural.

I have attached an image showing three small screen captures demonstrating the
three stages of this happening.

The first image capture shows the original state of the text with the text:
  “Sorry... You

The second image capture shows where the space as been entered after the three
dots, which results in:
  “Sorry... “Sorry… You
In the image the cursor can be seen after the space following the ellipsis.

The third image shows the result of deleting the space, which is:
  “Sorry… You
which is what we are after. However, the presence of the intermediate stage
feels far from natural.

Note that the "Ellipsis" setting on Tools >> Options >> Language Settings >>
English Sentence Checking doesn't appear to affect the above.

I hope that all makes sense.

Thank you
David Viner

Adding a shell shortcut to new ODM document is likely an enhancement request.

Second issue could be a bug. Have you tried running Repair option via modify

So the bug can be reproduced with first LO 3.3 and considering

So the bug appeared between 2008 and 2010, is that it?

The button "Filter" should enable blur of the texture. If the button is
pressed, the texture should be "softened". If the button is not pressed, the
original texture should be used. "Blur" is a filter in image processing, often
implemented as "Gaussian blur". I have used the word "effect" because pressing
the button does not change the texture itself, but only the rendering. The bug
is about the fact, that it does not work. You need an old OpenOffice.org
version to see, how it should work.

I have created a Calc file with the data table as described in the original bug

Description:
I've got a list with some rows and columns
F1 F2=FilterF3
1 old xyz
2 new abc
3 new cde

The AutoFilter is placed in Headline picking just "new". So I do not see line 1
After updating "3 new cde" => "3 old cde":
* until some weeks ago I had to click on row 1 column 2 "Filter" and then the
Filter updated the list, excluding now also line 3
* since some weeks this does not work any more. I have to switch the
filter-value from "old" => "new" and then back from "new" => "old" to get the 2
old-lines filtered out.

I'm not when this "feature" started.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.see above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
see in description

Expected Results:
With click on "filter" the lines get excluded, no switch of filter-condition
necessary.

Reproducible: Always

Same on Linux, Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with LO 6.4, has the exact same behavior.
pptx file is generated using python-pptx and when opened in LO merged cells are
missing the right border. For some reason only LO does this. WPS, Free Office,
Only Office, MS Office all read the tables correctly. Unfortunately LO is the
only one that supports command line arguments to convert pptx to pdf, so the
others are not really usable. And I would really prefer to use LO.

Most of us at school use LibreOffice programs rather than Microsoft simply
because they're free and Microsoft is not. So far, LibreOffice's bugs are still
manageable and it's still better than nothing. I gave up on Microsoft a long
time ago when the 10-page term paper I was writing went poof! because Word
chose to hang and crash while I was finishing off the conclusion. I just hired
a writer from https://www.customessaymeister.com to rewrite my paper
completely, but Microsoft did me so bad that I refuse to use its programs every
again. I've tried using WPS Office too and it works well. LibreOffice is the
go-to and ultimate alternative, though. There's also Google Docs and stuff. You
just gotta maximize everything else despite the bugs just to get by.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131610] New: Impress crashes upon running the second OpenGL transition

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131610

Bug ID: 131610
Summary: Impress crashes upon running the second OpenGL
transition
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikefreeman1...@gmail.com

Description:
If I set up a presentation and use OpenGL transistions with the previews on,
the first transition runs fine in the preview, but if I select a second OpenGL
transition (doesn't matter if it's on the same slide or not), LibreOffice
crashes. I've tried turning previews off, and while that allows me to add all
the transitions I want to a presentation, the same problem happens when running
the actual fullscreen presentation: The first OpenGL transition runs just fine,
the second one crashes LibreOffice. This has been the case for every version of
LibreOffice on every Linux computer I've run it on going back for years. Still
present in the most recent version. This makes OpenGL transistions useless.
I've heard that using the Flatpak version helps, but for me the Flatpak version
shows the exact same behavior. This is on Linux Mint 19.3 (going back for many
versions - can't remember the first version I tried it on), currently on AMD A8
APU (also the same on various other AMD APU's, CPU's, and GPU's I've used).
Running the open source graphics driver. OpenGL info: OpenGL version string:
4.5 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 19.2.8 (from glxinfo). I have tried resetting
my user profile to make sure it wasn't a problem there. The same behavior
occurs on a brand new user profile.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Impress and create a presentation.
2. Add a transistion.
3. Add a second transition.
4. (If previews turned off) Run presentation through to the second OpenGL
transition.
5. Watch it crash.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice crashes completely.

Expected Results:
Transitions should all run properly without crashes.

Reproducible: Always

No, by default Table objects are placed in line with the other content on page.

Their attributes are relative to the margins for the page they land on.

If you need to work with multiple tables, you need to create them as content of
a different container added to the document--either a Frame or a Section.

Then add your table into one of those containers. The Sections will flow from
page to page. The Frames allow you to anchor multiple Tables onto a page, or
into a paragraph. They are the same frames that hold images.

I confirm the bug as fileopen (test 7.0+ in Win).
What may confuse in LO: while it looks OK, it's not, styles really don't have
numbering, can be seen if applied on empty paragraph.
What may confuse in MSO: Modify Style - Format - Numbering doesn't mark applied
bullet/numner, but it is applied, as seen in Modify Style descriptipo which
says "Bulleted" or "Numbered".

Interesting that bullet and numbering styles worked in LO 4.3, so regression
from 4.4.
So many regressions...

@Buovjaga:

> If you think some report is wrongly closed as a duplicate, please explain why
> you think so.

no, i didn't say that, thus nothing to explain,

> Findings from duplicates can be copied as comments to the open reports.

i know that, and did so sometimes,

what i'd say was:

"(i like libreoffice and consider it one of the best office suites, the weakest
points are the 'old bugs', that nobody cares for them, and that new findings
are pulled away as duplicates. this is a general weakness of the development as
a community, and the systematics of the bugtracker.)"

as an extenuation of a - gallows humor - remark:

"and again i tapped on an old bug nobody cared for since years ... "

mean point, as bugs and bugtracker are actually handeled they lead developers
to the triage: 1. new bug? oh no, it's a duplicate, 2. care for the origin? oh
no, too many comments, difficult stuff, 3. what do do? mark as dup and care for
something else. and that buries 'old bugs'.

you can verify this opinion on this bug - 6 years, no patch, no progress, on
other fields like 'shared formulas', parallelizing, - there had been some
progress - macro functionality, iterations, comment slowdowns, autocalc, #REF!
errors and so on, or on #62196 mentioned by Mike - basic functionality, six
years, 13 duplicates, no patch, no progress, it already has a sibling #65606
with some duplicates, and a grandfather #34599 ... you'll see that bug handling
for old bugs in calc (and libreoffice?) is not the most effective point of the
project.

i wouldn't cry about that in 'bugs' - imho intended for work on the factual
problems - if i'd know any better place, perhaps you can give me a hint.

reg.

Hi Caolán,
it seems the results are different, at least compared to MSO Excel 2010, but
it's the case also before fb790880eb11552b2e7d1dcf6c09d2663712290f, I'll report

How to microsoft windows system protection background tasks high disk usage?
Microsoft Window's system protection background tasks execute a legal file
which is the srtasks.exe files. This executable file generally used via the
Windows 10 task scheduler to create system restore points. Generally, all this
method occupies a little of your CPU; however, it consumes 70% or more of the
CPU usage.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131607] New: Unable to Export as PDF

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131607

Bug ID: 131607
Summary: Unable to Export as PDF
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.0.7.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: physicistsa...@gmail.com

Description:
When I try to export as a PDF to the Desktop, I get an error that states:
"Error saving the document Untitled 1:
General Error.
General input/output error."

I'm running Kubuntu 18.04LTS using the apt version of libreoffice (6.0.7.3)
(not any weird PPA). However, I tried using the snap version of libreoffice as
well, and it had the same isssue.

When I run libreoffice from terminal and try to export a PDF, I get this error
on the command line:
(soffice:27574): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 16:32:09.192: Error creating IO channel
for /proc/self/mountinfo: Permission denied (g-file-error-quark, 2)

And:

LibreOffice(23326): couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol ''.
"
LibreOffice(23326): couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol ''.
"

I've tried purges using apt purge and deleted the ~/.config/libreoffice folder.
I also tried the snap version. Both have the same error.

The file permissions for the Desktop are: drwxr-xr-x 1 sarah sarah 1982 Mar 26
11:51 Desktop/

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start new libreoffice instance from KDE's launcher menu
2. Choose new writer doc
3. Type F to pay respects to PDF writer
4. Choose file -> export as PDF
5. Choose to save to desktop
6. Get error

Actual Results:
I get the error prompt box that says:

Error saving the document Untitled 1:
General Error.
General input/output error.

on the screen and no PDF is created.

Expected Results:
PDF should be made without error

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 102335] highlighting opening and closing parenthesis in the formula editing zone

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102335

+1 to this, and I would also like to add some information that may be helpful
for implementation: LibreOffice Calc already has parenthesis matching and
highlighting code, just not in the formular bar. If you edit a cell's formula
by pressing F2, it allows editing the formula "in place" and, somehow, that
in-situ formula editor _does_ have "matching parenthesis highlighting".

So I would recommend two things for someone willing to tackle this problem:

1. Reuse/port that code from the F2 editor into the main formula bar widget.

2. For better visual clarity for users, make it do some real highlighting
(i.e.: a colored yellow background behind the matching parentheses) instead of
just making the characters bold (the bold type is really not visible enough for
me)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130774] Pasting an image in LibreOffice makes pop up a blank rectangle

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130774

I've copied it with a right-click.

I've tried with these two images:
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fDm8JdCAPeM/maxresdefault.jpg [image of cactus] and
http://i.ytimg.com/vi/ypG3yBxgDEs/maxresdefault.jpg [landscape]

It does the same thing if I copy them directly from the search engine or
opening them in a new tab and then copying them.

Pasting them with or with the right-click menu within Libreoffice
produces the same result : the blank rectangle.

I've tried with Opera beta 68.0.3618.5 and firefox 74: it produces the same
result.
I've tried with Onlyoffice Presentation: pasting works fine in each cases.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131604] New: 3D rotation object with end angle has curious fill for front polygon

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131604

Bug ID: 131604
Summary: 3D rotation object with end angle has curious fill for
front polygon
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

Created attachment 159051
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=159051=edit
Collection of 3D rotation shapes

Open attached document. It has some 3D rotation objects. They all have the same
gradient as area fill and the same texture projection setting "object
specific". They differ in the end angle of the rotation.

The "back"-polygon, that one at angle 0°, shows always the same fill as the
generating shape. That is expected. But the "front"-polygon, that one at the
end angle, show various fillings. There is no rule visible, why they look this
way.

I can image two kind of behaviors
A) Always map the texture the same way to the "front"-polygon. That would be
easy to understand. But if end angle comes near to 360°, the fill would look
mirrored compared to polygon at 0°.
B) Map the texture mirrored to the "front"-polygon and keep it that way for all
angles. That would correspond to extrusion, where texture on front-face and
back-face are mirrored too. So at any angle, the blue part would be top-left
and the yellow part bottom-right in the example.

Especially confusing are jumps in the texture mapping, e.g. from 225.0° to
225.1°.

I see you reported using 2020-03-26 daily build. I recall these days I
encountered the same issue under Linux - I was building the bibisect repo
myself with a automatic script, everything worked fine before, but one day
recently it showed error message telling me in order to use nss support I need
to install ninja-build. I installed ninja-build, then everything goes fine.

I don't know this on windows. But I see the following commit

author Luboš Luňák 2020-03-06 15:52:33 +0100

build nss using gyp+ninja also on Windows

Maybe Luboš Luňák knows what's going on...

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I found I miss:
librdf.so.0 => not found
libraptor2.so.0 => not found

which provided by librdf0 package. Looks like PPA missing dependencies.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131579] UI: Some buttons have dotted box around the button text

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131579

IIUC the rectangles are necessary 'focus' indicators for UI navigation, they
are solid lines with some render engines but have been dashed with Skia
rendering.

If they appear or not depends on button's ability to take focus with keyboard
or mouseover action.

That they are dashed is visual noise with Skia--not clear it needs to (or can
be) changed.

I can confirm with a current master build as of commit
7de7512718ac192fcad441d5500d056316f72d72.

* open attached file
* make sure that cell A35 is not displayed on the screen (e.g. zoom in if
necessary)
* click on "-->Ende" in cell B2

-> cell A35 is highlighted, but you only become aware when scrolling there
manually.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131511] FILESAVE DOC(X): "Evenly distribute contents to all columns" not saved when turned off

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon

When the columnar layout belongs to page style, there's no way to distribute
evenly. That is same as with Word, and no interoperability problems here. The
difference is when sections are formatted with columns. Word is unable to *not*
distribute columns in that case, while Writer provides flexibility.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131603] New: DOCX saving to RTF style names with german Umlaute

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131603

Bug ID: 131603
Summary: DOCX saving to RTF style names with german Umlaute
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: roed...@3wplusp.de

Hello guys,

if you save a docx file which contains style names with e.g. german Umlaute (Ü,
Ä, Ö) with libreoffice writer, the stylenames are converted wrong.

A style name called "Überschrift" will be converted to "Üdcberschrift" if you
view the RTF in ms word.
In the RTF File you can see the stlye name is \u220\'dcberschrift.

It looks like the hex code of the char is appended too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131601] New: Track Changes function keeps turning on

2020-03-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131601

Bug ID: 131601
Summary: Track Changes function keeps turning on
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dlsmith...@outlook.com

I posted a bug the other day about the fact that, often, when I am using the
LibreOffice writer, my words start appearing in orange strikethrough lettering.
 I can't delete it, either.

A person named Michael wrote that it wasn't a bug but that my Track Changes
feature was on. He wrote that I needed to disable it not just hide it.

WHAT? I did actually go and turn the Track Changes off, but it keeps coming
back on. I'm not pressing Ctrl-Shift-C either.

What does "disable" Track Changes mean versus "hide" Track Changes. I see
neither of those options in the menu.

Why is this? Why does Track Changes keep turning itself back on?

Also, another thing that happens that never happened to me when I used
Microsoft Office is that I find all these errors, extra little words and typos
in my text.

I'm wondering if someone is hacking my software via Libreoffice program. Isn't
this based in Germany? I lived in Germany for almost 5 years in the 1990s, so
I hate to say this, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Germans were behind
this. Or Microsoft people trying to dissuade others from using open source
software.

I struggled with a T-mobile (German firm) issue and then finally replaced my
sim card in my phone with AT Now I have none of those issues.

There are many paste bugs.
If we split them, they will not be notices.
And besides no steps here not in others.
You should've searched before reporting.
So I'll mark duplicate.
Not sure if bug 116983 or bug 65606 or bug 90120 - you didn't even write OS.
But never mind, change if you wish.
