If we put the option in the Header/Footer dialog it would be

>From a technical point of view it can only be part of the master page:
The style:first-page-number attribute belongs to the element
, which is a child element of element

not from .

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 132891] Typing before a formatted word does not formatting but it does when word is at beginning of the line

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=132891

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4)
> Could imagine users expect the formatting to stay when typing at the
> beginning likewise at the end. So unless there is a good reason not to do
> so, let's change this.

Just a second! Anything "before formatting" - which is not at the beginning of
a paragraph - is also "after formatting". The text looks like this:

[text of 1st span ][bold text of 2nd
span][text of 3rd span]...

And so, if you consider a place *after* a formatting as to continue previous
formatting, then you need to realize that place just before 2nd span is *after*
1st span, and necessarily continues its (empty - in this specific case - but
anyway) formatting.

When you have a span starting at the very beginning of the paragraph, there's
no previous span to continue.

So - "let's change this" is a bit too quick.

These shapes at the top and bottom have relative height set, which goes from
the original ~2.3 cm to 27 at import.

Somehow their height was correctly read in 4.2, then broke in 4.3, I suppose
because of the VML->DML change at those times.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133403] [UI] PDF export options dialog: Usage of term "bookmark" confusing

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133403

My PDF viewer on Linux/KDE is Okular. This tool opens "bookmarks" in a Content
view (or not if General > [ ] Export Bookmarks is off; which btw. has no effect
on the UI setting). Okular can set bookmarks and go to next/previous as
bookmarks are known.

So let's rename:

General: [ ] Export outlines
Pane: Outline and page
UI: Collapse Outlines (o) Show All ( ) Visible levels <1> (and disable these
radio buttons depending on the general option)
Links: [ ] Export outlines as named destinations (checking this option results
in no visible output, ~1kB size instead of 100; needs also to be disabled)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133433] New: LibreOffice 7.0 closed but still using memory in Task Manager

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133433

Bug ID: 133433
Summary: LibreOffice 7.0 closed but still using memory in Task
Manager
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: blank15...@protonmail.com

Description:
This morning I used LibreOffice 7.0 alpha, did some work (in Writer), and
closed it.
A few hours later, I had to open the Task Manager to see something (not related
to LibO) and I found out there were still instances (I don't know what it's
called) of LibreOffice running.

See screenshot

That's about 1 GB of memory usage despite the fact that LibreOffice is closed.
I'm not an expert in this area but it doesn't seem right.

OS :
  Windows 10 Home 64-bit 1909 (18363.836)
  Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80GHz
RAM
  8,00 Go Canal-Double DDR3 @ 654 MHz (9-9-9-24)

Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha1 (x86)
Build ID: 6a03b2a54143a9bc0c6d4c7f1...
Threads CPU : 8; OS : Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI Render : Skia/Raster; VCL:
win;
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR); UI: fr-FR
Calc: threaded

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open LibreOffice (Writer in my case)
2. Do something
3. Close LibreOffice

Look at Task Manager

Actual Results:
LibreOffice still using memory, even if closed

Expected Results:
Free the memory completely

Reproducible: Always

form fields with default font

LibreOffice can create PDF forms. When such files are opened in Acrobat Reader
(tested in 2017 version) the text that is filled in shows up as ⦁ symbols.

This was already noticed in 2018.

https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/163428/when-form-is-converted-to-pdf-dots-appear-instead-of-text/?answer=246669#post-id-246669

A solution is to set the font in the text field to 'Arial'.

Example file from Excel with a beautiful custom style

Excel has a feature for importing (custom) cell styles from another
spreadsheet. It might be useful to have a similar feature in Calc too, since
Writer already has.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a custom cell style in Excel, save the file.
2. Open a new spreadsheet and go to Cell Stlyes – Merge Styles.
3. Select the previously created file to import the custom style.

Actual results:
No similar feature in Calc.

Expected results:
Style import dialog similar to Writers Styles -> Load Styles dialog.
Currently it is only possible to save a template with custom styles and then
use that for new spreadsheets.
Idea is that transferring nice styles from one file to another can be useful in
one-off scenarios.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133429] New: Loss of critical functionality - use a single screen display - please restore this

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133429

Bug ID: 133429
Summary: Loss of critical functionality - use a single screen
display - please restore this
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: de...@dkeats.com

Until recently, it used to be possible to display a presentation on a single
screen without tying up the other screen. With the latest releases, this
functionality has been removed.

This makes Libreoffice unsuitable for many common use cases, not least of which
being presenting in Zoom and other applications where screenshare is needed but
where some functionality of other applications on the other screen is also
needed.

Common uses cases include:

1. Streaming where you need to access both the streaming application and
display the presentation full screen on the other monitor
2. Video recording from a presentation where you need to control audio and
video applications from one screen and Libreoffice presentation needs to be on
another screen.

Given that these are VERY VERY VERY common use cases, it seems strange to
remove this highly important functionality. Other presentation applications
allow this, and especially in this day of working from home, the loss of this
functionality is catastrophic.

Discussed with our release manager and he advised to close this as WFM:

"Having symlinks is common practice on linux, nowhere in the spec is it written
that they must be plain files. find /usr/share/icons/ -type l |wc -l → 287
links here for example.

Reason why LO uses symlinks is that the packages are relocatable (and by
default install to /opt/ - it is not possible to use plain files in another
prefix in that case, so the desktop-integration package creates the symlinks)

Distro-packages that change the installations paths are free to change how the
desktop files are installed. They don't need to care about being
relocatable/only using a single prefix, so no reason for them to keep the
symlinks."

same result

so I then reinstalled my previous download
master~2020-05-13_06.53.25
works fine

Since we are into conspiracies at the moment -.
yesterday when I installed the
master~2020-05-24_14.20.49 version the main deb must have taken almost 10x as
long to install as I am used to.

Today, when I installed the latest one it took about the same time.

one thing, just check the second text line on p2 (need to toggle formatting
marks to see it). It shows it has 9pt font size. The style tho says it should
be 11pt. When I use "clear direct formatting" it does not revert that to style.
Even when I open the character dialog and click on reset, it doe not fix revert
to 11pt as the style is.

Just found out that the PDF export options dialog in Calc has the same
"bookmark levels" options. I don't know what they do (and have asked the
original reporter in chat group), but "heading levels" for either English or
Chinese likely won't work.

Will investigate later.

Hi Mike,

Sure, with context I agree we should use PDF terms.

> But of course, this group could be
> renamed to "Bookmarks window", thus clarifying that that's specific PDF
> stuff... but do all PDF readers use "window" for that? Maybe "Bookmarks
> list"?
I don't know either.

Personally I'm more unhappy about the "bookmark levels" wording. If it were up
to me (and the Chinese translation will look like this if the English stays the
same), I'll use "All heading levels exported as bookmarks" and "Heading levels
exported as visible bookmarks" for the two options in the "Bookmarks" section.

Of course, this is assuming what the Chinese user told me is correct - these
two options change which heading styles are exported as PDF bookmarks, and also
that they don't change other "levels" I am not aware of.

4. keep "Save as a single large document" selected, press "Save Documents"
-> a dialog showing the progress appears, but it is not modal
5. press "Save Documents" in the dialog again (possible, since the other one is
not modal)

Actual Results:
When using a debug build:

LO hits an assert, "crashes"; output:

soffice.bin:
/home/michi/development/git/libreoffice/sw/source/uibase/dbui/dbmgr.cxx:422:
bool SwDBManager::Merge(const SwMergeDescriptor&): Assertion `!m_bInMerge &&
!m_pImpl->pMergeData && "merge already activated!"' failed.

When using a non-debug build: LO does not crash at once, but still crashed for
me at some point when I had multiple of those dialogs running, cancelled one of
them (exact scenario maybe more complex than when using a debug build)

Expected Results:
No crash.
While the first run is still in progress, it should not be possible to try to
start another one.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Behaviour is the same when e.g. trying to print instead of saving to a file.

for ODF 1.2 extended the loext attributes are written but the new attribute
values for the type are not written, so the loext attributes are indeed
useless.

but avoiding the writing of the loext attributes got a bit more difficult now
since this:

For developers who want to add new ODF extensions, we would like to point out
the behavioral change in commit
f1dbaac9e4b68941d845a5f0ab7b204e12de14de "xmloff: ODF export: rework version
checks in SvXMLExportPropertyMapper"
(see commit message) that should simplify things a little bit.

... so given that ODF 1.2 extended versions aren't the default i'd like to
leave this as it is for simplicity because the loext attributes don't hurt
anyone.

I checked out the blamed commit from that bug and then the preceding one. Both
showed the laggy behaviour.

I'm actually seeing this already in 4.4.7. It seems to be as old as the sidebar

2020-05-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #5 from NISZ LibreOffice Team ---
Looking a bit more at the last three numbered / bulleted paragraphs in the
table, they all have somewhat different indent settings compared to Word:

""Numbering effect""

In Word:
- Left 0.63 cm from Direct format (2.54 cm from Table style),
- Right: 0 (from Table style),
- Hanging: 0.63 cm from Direct format (not specified in Table style).
In Writer: Left 2.54 cm , Right: 0, Hanging: 0.

""Numbering effect can only apply to LRSpaceItem, and not to ULSpace, or
linespacing""

In Word:
- Left: 0.63 cm from Direct format (2.54 cm from Table style)
- Right: 3 cm from Direct format (0 from Table style, )
- Hanging: 0.63 cm from Direct format (not specified in Table style)
In Writer: Left 1.26 cm, Right 3 cm, Hanging: -0.63 cm

""Numbering effects on character properties only affect the numbering,, not the
whole paragraph""

In Word:
- Left: 0.63 cm from Direct format (0 from paragraph style
ParaSubStyleDefaults, 2.54 cm from Table style)
- Right: 2.54 cm from paragraph style ParaSubStyleDefaults (0 from Table style)
- Hanging: 0.63 cm from Direct format
In Writer: Left 2.54 cm, Right: 2.54 cm, Hanging: 0
