I came across this bug just now -- it is a major issue for using the
'Scenarios' feature in Calc. The functionality to delete or access properties
of scenarios is not available anywhere else, apparently. Hence significant loss
of functionality (see documentation Calc->Scenarios->Using Scenarios).
Basically Scenarios are useless until this bug is fixed, I think.

Any chance the fix could be applied to LO 6.3 stable version?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134741] New: Weird tip of the day - preserving cursor position requires entering name

2020-07-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134741

Bug ID: 134741
Summary: Weird tip of the day - preserving cursor position
requires entering name
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ddascalescu+freedesk...@gmail.com

Created attachment 162914
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=162914=edit
Don't make the user fix the bug

I've just opened Writer and saw this tip of the day:

"Your Writer document didn't reopen with the text cursor at the same editing
position it was when you saved it? Check Tools > Options > User Data >
First/Last name is not empty."

This doesn't make any sense to me as a user. Why do I need to enter my name in
order for Writer to remember the cursor position?

If there's some arcane technical/developer reason for this, it should be hidden
from the user (e.g. by generating some fake name). But the cursor should be
preserved along with the privacy of users who don't want to enter any name.

Dear Rich Wilson,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Dear wope,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Unfortunately I can't see how it can be renamed then. Using 2 verbs is bad, and
also won't work for the Insert > Text Box menu item.

> b) resolve as WF
Possible, but I'm not sure given that there appear to be real reasons for
confusion here.

How about this:

1) We keep the current naming as-is.

2) Clicking the button/menu item (or pressing F2) while a shape is selected
continues to enter its text edit mode, but _in addition_ allows to draw another
text box. The button/menu item is toggled until the text edit mode is cancelled
or a text box is drawn.

3) Double clicking on a shape to enter its edit mode, will not toggle the
button.

shared with Writer, Calc and Draw.

The second Align submenu (key-ID wgQ27) is shared with Draw, but located under

The problem with such a suggestion is many people simply are not really sure
how to participate on this board. Do I just send an email!?

While you may find this linear, chronological, thread a "poor way of
conversing". It took me about 25 mins of being confused to realise I was
reading the posts on Board Discuss in the wrong order. There is some
interesting information on the board, but I get totally lost trying to follow
conversations. Insisting on communicating through such a tool is a great way to
ensure that you exclude many people from the conversation.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134738] New: Paragraph styles do not update in index (ToC)

2020-07-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134738

Bug ID: 134738
Summary: Paragraph styles do not update in index (ToC)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: yr...@mun.ca

Description:
Even if we change the paragraph style (specifically in the current case: tabs)
assigned to an entry in a Table of Contents, the style change is not reflected
in the index even after we update it.

The same works well in an older version of LO (5.2.7).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select "Modify" paragraph style for an entry in the Toc
2. Change the TAB settings
3. Update index

Actual Results:
Updated index does not reflect the change in paragraph style

Expected Results:
The style change should be reflected in the doc

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
This used to work well, I believe until a recent version of LO 6. I am sorry I
cannot specify the earliest version when this happened.

2020-07-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 134737
Summary: CONFIGURATION VIEWING Menus do not offer enough
languages directly for user to set language in
document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: chris...@labs.epiuse.com

Description:
A user who wants to change the language in a document can readily choose,
through the status bar or the Tools menu, the language of
- the UI or
- the locale or
- the input method.
In order to set another language, the user has to open a new dialog window by
choosing More... from the menu that shows the above language(s).

Problems:
- The above language set of one to three distinct languages is often not
enough.
- The additional dialog is inconvenient. It should be possible for the user to
set the required languages once for all and have them in the menu every time.
- While the above problems are alleviated for Windows users who can rely on the
input method to set the language in the document (many cannot, see AOO issue
100762, link below), on GNU/Linux the input method cannot change the language
in the document (see #tdf108151).

Steps to Reproduce:

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ag...@freemail.hu

Description:
I found a bug in PDF export of Draw when placing an image multiple times.
I placed an image via drag and drop from the Finder, adjusted the size, then
duplicated it via Copy and Paste two times and resized and rotated the copies
then exported it to PDF.
In the exported pdf there were 4 images instead of 3 and two was in bad scale
and position. In another sample the third image was just distorted and
misplaced.
Please find three odg documents along with the corresponding pdf-s.
Could you please fix it? LibreOffice 6.4.4 macOS 10.12.6, macMini 2012.
It was wrong in 6.3.x which I updated but the update did not fix it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open ML3.odg - it contains 3 images
2. File/Export As/Export as PDF... - jpg 90%,PDF/A-1b
3. compare the original odg file and the exported pdf

Or: I placed an image via drag and drop from the Finder, adjusted the size,
then duplicated it via Copy and Paste two times and resized and rotated the
copies then exported it to PDF.

Actual Results:
there are 4 images in the pdf, two of them are right, two are smaller and
misplaced

Expected Results:
something more similar in pdf compared to what I saw on screen

I add them as text for all arguments to be listed here (I correct previous

By James Harking

It is worth considering that the danger or dithering can be worse than acting,
is it worth causing such discussions and bickering for an additional 6 months?
If the decision is such that the name is changed to ‘Community Edition’ then
that would appear to me to be an acceptable compromise.

The strategy of having these two conceptually different versions (Community and
Enterprise) is sound in my mind. Or else you could well find yourself in the
same position as now for a long time and that does not serve the long term
strategy of the DF or the development requirements of the application.

You risk unnecessary delay and not showing leadership. You will never be able
to please everyone with the strategy that you choose, but making a decision
shows leadership by choosing and sticking with a decision.

I would vote for Variant 2.

By Mark S.

Calling something “Community Edition” does not give a positive impression. You
might as well call it the “Lesser Edition” or “Crippled Edition”. That is what
companies do when they open-source a restricted subset of their commercial
product. It is not something a Free Software project should even consider.

Is there a Linux Community Edition? An Apache Community Edition? A PostgreSQL
Community Edition? The answer is “No”, because these are not subsets of a
commercial product. They are the canonical reference projects that any
derivative commercial products would be based on. It is the derivative products
that must append some diminutive suffix or permutation of the original name,
based on the trademark policies of the source project.

Let LibreOffice stay LibreOffice, and let any commercial derivatives deal with
naming issues of their products on their own time.

I do agree with you.
Just keep LibreOffice LibreOffice.
The swap from MSO to LO is a very difficult step for any (as a person, a
small or large enterprises), and first of all, you have to convince the
decision-maker. And for a decision-maker, ‘Personal edition’ or ‘Community
edition’ will give a definitive feeling of cheap, low advanced, limited, while
just ‘LibreOffice’ will be more rewarding. Going to an ‘Enterprise edition’ is
a step further.

By lemc

I’m in the academia, and I have been using LibreOffice (and OpenOffice before
that) daily for more than 10 years.
What really concerns me is that this new marketing strategy might lead to the
differentiation, or branching, of the code base of the regular (“community”)
and enterprise editions, with the former being stripped down in terms of
functional features.
One reader in another forum
(https://forums.theregister.com/forum/all/2020/07/07/libreoffice_community_protests_at_introduction/)
rightfully said that the “Worst thing they can do is to split it into personal
and commercial editions and reserve highly useful and desirable features for
commercial users only”. And herein in this blog, a reader (Mark S) also
expressed his concern that a “community” edition might actually end up being a
“Lesser Edition or Crippled Edition”. His considerations about an eventual
“community” edition being a subset of the “enterprise” edition are also highly
pertinent.
So TDF should clearly make a statement about this issue, informing users
whether the “community” and enterprise editions would continue to be exactly
the same in terms of features, and that the two editions would simultaneously
receive the same updates and bug fixes. It would also be extremely desirable if
the two editions had exactly the same version number, to clearly indicate that
the core programs are the same.
However, it would be perfectly acceptable if the enterprise edition came with a
much larger collection of fonts, clip arts, and templates, as well as
pre-installed business-oriented extensions and a commercial grammar checker. In
this context, I also concur with the opinion that a special naming should be
reserved to the commercial edition, while the regular one would remain known
simply as LibreOffice.

By JR

Yes. Keep LibreOffice and LibreOffice Business Edition.
That sounds like enrichment for the company, but not crippling for the others.

on 2020-07-09

By Franck Routier

I also think that renaming the base product is a bad idea…
Why not simply create an “enterprise” brand, like “Corporate edition”,
“Professional support edition”, or anything that sounds as a added value
offering.
Would not adding a potentially pejorative qualifier make the “entreprise”
offering less

Thanks for the settings. The setting that causes this is Archive PDF/A-1b. If
you pick PDF/A-3b, the size will only be 230 kB. Perhaps this is not a bug, but
somehow related to the archival specifications.

The options regarding the archive setting had some changes in the 6.3 line, I
checked using the Linux 6.3 bibisect repository. It seems PDF/A-1b was not
available previously, but only PDFA-1a.

put initial dimensions after having changed resolution because it seems to keep
a ratio instead of just applying what I chose...
Anyway, since you reproduced this, let's let this one opened.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this
except it's another language which appears.

I use French UI, first it shows "Français (France)" (French France) +
"Irlandais" (Irish).
I create a new odt file and go back to the initial one, I take a new look at
languages, this time it shows "Français (France)" (French France) + "Anglais
(U.S.A.)" (English USA).

Heiko/Xisco: I'm not an expert but I know that in France we use meters,
centimeters, etc. in general but for resolution it's quite common to read "per
inch".

So I'm quite agree with MM, another option may be added.
Any thoughts here?

Sophie/Jean-Baptiste: since my opinion about resolution usage in France is
subjective and don't have any stats, I may be wrong here so don't hesitate to
tell if you disagree :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134734] New: Implement attribute draw:background-size completely

2020-07-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134734

Bug ID: 134734
   Summary: Implement attribute draw:background-size completely
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

ODF 1.3 allows for all kind of master-pages and
pages, not only for Draw/Impress but for Writer and Calc too.
This element has an attribute draw:background-size with values "border" and
"full" to determine whether the background fills only the area between the
border lines or the entire page.

LO 7.0 writes the attribute with the value that corresponds to its current
rendering ("full" in Writer and "border" in Draw/Impress). But LO 7.0 is not
able to render it the other way and has no UI to set the value.

Additional problems:
If a text document, which has background rendered as if it was "border" in
older versions, is opened in LO 7.0, the background is rendered as "full". So
the document looks different.

Using the fill properties from is currently not
implemented for Calc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134733] New: Fonts preview illegible in Writer with dark theme (Breeze, Opensuse).

2020-07-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134733

Bug ID: 134733
Summary: Fonts preview illegible in Writer with dark theme
(Breeze, Opensuse).
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.0.beta1+
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: victor.lar...@gmail.com

Description:
I have Libreoffice 7.0 (Opensuse Tumbleweed). When I use the Breeze theme,
Writer shows the fonts preview without problems (in the drop-down menu, white
background and black fonts). But when I use the dark theme, the drop-down menu
fails and looks almost illegible.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Apply Breeze dark theme (Opensuse Tumbleweed)
2. Check fonts preview (in Writer)
3. Drop-down fonts menu looks illegible (-very- light grey fonts with white
background).
4. The normal Breeze theme (light) works with any problems (in Writer).

Actual Results:
When I apply de dark Breeze theme the drop-down fonts menu fails: white fonts
(in fact, light grey) with white background. When I disable de fonts preview
the drop-down menu looks normal (black background with white fonts, obviously
without preview).

Expected Results:
The drop-down fonts menu (in dark mode, with fonts preview checked in Writer)
should be legible, (dark background with white fonts).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
The fonts size menu or paragraph works properly with dark theme. The problem is
only in the fonts menu with preview activated.

Hmm.. interesting issue. We embed the PDF graphic into the exporting PDF, so
that the fidelity is preserved. Seems that there is an issue with that with
some kinds of PDFs (landscape oriented maybe).

If you want a quick workaround, then enable "Use reference XObjects" in the PDF
export dialog and it should show correctly, however the vector PDF will be
converted to raster image in this case.

I would vote for Variant 2.

on 2020-07-09

Yep, I assume this is what was meant. Doesn't seem to be any better.

Python 3.7.7 (default, Jul 3 2020, 17:23:00) [MSC v.1925 64 bit (AMD64)] on
win32
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> import bz2
>>>

1) Install Python 3.7.7
2) Copy from: C:\Program Files\Python37\DLLs\_bz2.pyd
3) Paste in: C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\python-core-3.7.7\lib

But... I don't understand why many libraries of Python are trimmed in
LibreOffice for Windows, like sqlite3 for example :(
