More (b) than (a). Setting width directly would still require a second "offset"
setting to accomplish what Left- and Right-indents accomplish. But however this
is done, column widths should reflect any change in total indents or margins.

Created attachment 163341

outline mode read-only mode approach

Hello All,

It has been interesting exploring the document model/view code and many other
UI code areas involved in this enhancement. I ran into problems with
promoting/demoting folded chapters, and cases that add content to folded
outline content. Making outline mode a read-only feature avoids these problems.

Shown in the demo is use of the .uno:OutlineMode command function in toolbar
button form. It can be added to any toolbar or menu and can be assigned a
keyboard shortcut. Folded outline content is shown when either edit mode is
activated or outline mode is toggled off. Returning to outline mode will fold
the outline content previously folded.

I have only had success on how to export/save the attribute used to indicate
folded outline content state. WIP on importing. This means no persistence of
outlines folded when document is closed and reopened.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101975] Problem with utf8 html-xls to csv conversion

2020-07-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101975

Dear viacheslav.sychov,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46448] Allow custom locale settings for decimal separator, group separator, default date and time formats

Excel has 2 options, which I think is good:
1) use Windows' settings (default)
2) custom settings for Excel

Further, I am using LibreOffice with Linux, and it may not be so obvious which
is the locale settings on a Linux system, since it may depend on the desktop
(Gnome 3 or 2, KDE, XFCE, LXDE or LXQt,... In this case, overriding the
system's settings, if any, is desirable.

You should be able to skip the Salutation by just clicking "Next" if you do not
want one. I last did a mail merge with the wizard on June 9, had no problem
then but not sure what the Libre version was at that time.

I noted that even if you do create a Salutation, it won't let you continue.

Open Office does not have this bug. I just installed it and all the formatting
works correctly since it takes it from my Windows settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134997] New: Trying to save a Base file crashes LibreOffice

2020-07-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134997

Bug ID: 134997
Summary: Trying to save a Base file crashes LibreOffice
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.3.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: li...@drmartinus.de

Description:
I had a few (~5) documents open, the last action I took was saving a writer
document as pdf. Shortly before that, a few minor changes had been made to a
report in the base file, which I saved right away. However, in the Base window
it still showed the "unsaved" symbol, as usual.
Then I left and returned after 2 hours and found that LibreOffice was hanging,
the windows weren't restored. I waited several minutes, then tried to close any
of the windows, and got each time the message: LibreOffice does not reply. So I
ended it. After restart (after all files had been recovered), I closed the
files which seemed fine to me. However, saving the Base module which still
showed the unsaved state caused LibreOffice to crash and immediately to reopen
with the recovery window.
I still can open reports and databases within the database.
I tried saving the database under a different name. One of these attempts
resulted in a 0 byte document, the other in a 1.9 kB file.
Finally I managed to recover without grace by hitting the "close window" button
and then on the file save dialog hitting "don't save". After that, it behaved
normally again.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Sorry, I can't reproduce that. See my description of the process.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
See the description

Expected Results:
See the description

As seen comparing Office 365

there is a shadow effect in the former that's missing from the latter
(this still applies, even with the fixes done via bug #131175).

The code leading up to
svx/source/sidebar/inspector/InspectorTextPanel.cxx line 63 reads

61: void InspectorTextPanel::updateEntries(const std::vector& rStore)
62: {
63: mpListBoxStyles->freeze();

This function is frame #14 in the previously attached backtrace.

In the second call to this function,
mpListBoxStyles = std::unique_ptr
= {get() = 0x}
and the call to freeze() results in an immediate segfault.

Auto of curiosity. The formula frame has the wrong dimensions, and it's solved
by entering. Not sure what the scope/exten of the issue is. So if a fix being
useful or not. Related to the formula case: Is there a way to detect if it's a
formula frame, emulate the access in the background while processing. [Not sure
how expensive that would be]. With maybe a limited 'scope' to that for certain
dimensions [which ends up in guessing what problematic formula's would look
like]

There is surely one file with 390 pages and 2000 formula's around.. And
manually checking for flaws isn't something you want to do.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134994] New: Possibility to change the size of the page via GUI

2020-07-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134994

Bug ID: 134994
Summary: Possibility to change the size of the page via GUI
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.1 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: wza...@gmail.com

I often use the LibreOffice Draw to prepare figures and diagrams which are
later included in other documents (e.g., prepared with LaTeX).
That requires adjusting the size of the page to the size of the drawing.
Now it must be done iteratively, which is very inconvenient. Looking at the
rulers I have to estimate the desired page size. Then I have enter the
Format/Properties dialog box, enter the new "User" size of the page, close the
dialog, check if the new size is correct (usually it is not), modify the size
again in the dialog box... Typically the above must be repeated 3 or 4 times.
Other drawing tools, like Inkscape have a special option "Resize page to
content".
A similar tool would be also very useful in LibreOffice Draw.
In case if its implementation is too difficult, it would be nice at least to be
able to adjust the size of the page be dragging its edges, or corners in GUI
(maybe after entering the special "resize page" mode).

Thank you in advance,
With best regards,
Wojtek

--- Comment #15 from Leandro Martín Drudi ---
The worst thing I find in your suggestion is that, in the age of immediacy, you
ask me to consult in a forum and delay my work for a few hours (hopefully,
because many times I have received a response days later).
That's why LibreOffice is where it is while Microsoft Office continues to
dominate the market. So Linux is where it is and Windows is where it is on the
market.
If they do not keep up with the 21st century, they will continue with an
interface from the 90s, an efficiency from the year 2000 and a problem from the
18th century.

see
https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2020/07/20/update-on-marketing-and-communication-plans-for-the-libreoffice-7-x-series/
for current status; quote from there:

> As such, the 7.0 release of LibreOffice will not see any of the tagline/flavor

I do not believe it is necessary that the "--with-product-flavor" build switch
that started this backlash to be reverted. While Italo has revised the slide
deck for the Marketing Communications Plan

https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/s/4pLtn9xn76BkxFK

the specific labeling for the tag remains 'TBD'--To Be Determined. With
comments in the slide deck.

Meanwhile the 'Personal Edition' artwork and LibreOffice Personal and
'supported by volunteers and intended for individual use' tag line remains.
Those should probably be removed til BOD reaches decision.
