Unfortunately, I haven't seen anyone dedicating their time to fixing any of the
root causes. So the theory of incremental improvement is very nice, but the
reality doesn't follow, thus proving the theory to be false.

And incremental improvements that ends up being a complete failure should be
reverted and then newly fixed in master, not fixed in a released product. The
massive print dialog in 6.3 was another prime example of that too.

Dear Andrzej Hunt,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 111393] Demuddle googleApiClient in CommunicationServiceWear (findbugs Medium issue)

2020-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=111393

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135433] Add support for "TK" keyword for content writing

2020-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135433

I took a look and I made it work. Something to improve is to make it a
character anchor. That way, if I add more information in the paragraph, the
image moves with the text too. I will probably need to fiddle with the code a
bit on my end, but it does the trick. I found how to make it a character (easy
enough) but I didn't try to make it fit in the margin correctly.

Thanks!

I'm marking this as blocking RTL-CTL, even though I'm only guessing that it has
something to do with the RTL direction.

Also, I believe the loss only happens when I make deletions or overwrites, not
additions. And it is certainly not consistent, i.e. most deletions and
overwrites do work.

I am currently editing a document in Hebrew (originally created in Word, i.e.
imported at some point), and making many changes - to the text, the indentation
and the numbering.

I'm noticing that, occasionally, the changes I make stop appearing, and in
fact, a chunk of text - it seems to be the entire current paragraph I'm
changing - disappears. When I re-enable viewing the tracked changes - the
paragraph is still not there. It's not marked as deleted - it is wholly
missing, and cannot be restored even when I try to Undo my last actions. The
undo buffer seems to get emptied.

Unfortunately I cannot attach the document to help with reproducing this issue
because it's too private.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 107901] Format Cells dialog overwrites user selection

2020-08-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=107901

(In reply to Timur from comment #26)

>I don't see what you're trying to achieve

It doesn't matter. The bug is in the dialog box itself:

1. when the user makes a change in the dialog box, making another change should
not revert the first change (unless there's some logic reason, which there
isn't)

2. having to click okay to apply the checkbox setting when there are literally
dozens of settings that the dialog box allows the user to assign is
counterintuitive in the extreme.

Look at the Excel screenshot. It's simple; it's obvious; it works. There's no
need for the totally confusing and buggy "remove border" and no need for the
code that changes the user's actions without explanation.

Millions of people use Excel in spite of its horrible flaws. Start with what
they know and make it better. With your misguided approached to formatting
cells, you've created a whole new house of horrors with different bugs. In all
the reports I've submitted, not one person has addressed this. I've given you
hours of free beta-testing (I used to do it full time for good money in Silicon
Valley). I'm entitled to an explanation instead of all this passive-aggressive
nit-picking. Your program is fundamentally broken in terms of the visual
control of spreadsheets and until you address this, you're going to continue to
drive users away.

I don't see what you are trying to achieve. In the example I don't see borders.
It's not obvious with thos sample and separate screenshots, better to put all
in a single file, with explanation.

Another problem is with steps. When you select "remove border" you should click
OK for that to be applied.

I think it is too bad that the as-character change wasn't simply reverted
instead of being "fixed" by changing to another setting that had no time left
for testing.

Anchoring issues have always abounded, so a change this significant will
obviously have huge ramifications.

I find it very funny that this change was meant to improve compatibility with
MS formats, but when I saved as at-character anchored image to docx format, it
round-trips as an at-paragraph anchor.

It still isn't too late to revert for stable 6.4.7...

OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

  Reporter: plateauw...@qq.com

Created attachment 164053
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=164053=edit
Example ODT file with worksheet OLE object embedded

This is a bug forwarded and translated from a Chinese LO user chat group.

When a user inserts a worksheet OLE object (just a rectangular range of cells)
inside an ODT file, the position of the worksheet is slightly off-center (or
maybe the automatically calculated size of the worksheet is slightly wrong), so
that when the OLE worksheet has its cell border visualized and with significant
width, the top and left edge of the OLE worksheet can't be displayed in full
and looks thinner than other cell borders.

This problem also presists in printing and PDF exporting.

Attached is an example file provided by the original reporter. The second
table in the attached file is an OLE object (the first is an ordinary Writer
table). I'll also attach an exported PDF and a screenshot illustrating the
problem.

I reproduced the display problem in both 6.4.5 on Windows 10:
Version: 6.4.5.2 (x64)
Build ID: a726b36747cf2001e06b58ad5db1aa3a9a1872d6

ok - thanks. i do not understand your last comment regarding the bibisect
repository, etc. that doesn't mean much to an end user but probably is
meaningful to the folks working on your team. i believe my only interest here
is knowing if you could tell me which upcoming release of libreoffice might
contain a fix for this particular defect. thank you

Sample file for test purpose.

My OS is Linux Mint 20. I think the problem started after I upgraded from Linux
Mint 18 to Linux Mint 19. The problem still exists in Linux Mint 20.

Have tested this bug again.
The '0' appears when creating a report for Calc since LO 5.3.0.3. Last version
where it fails here is 5.2.7.2

Tested with OpenSUSE 15.1 64bit rpm Linux.

I will set this one to WORKSFORME.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 124098] LibreCalc6.2: Opening a Calc with some formulas: It writes "adapt Row Height" which is taking ages to load!

I'm not able to find which lines have `style:use-optimal-row-height="true"`

But I think it's more "friendly", especially for low profile users, to add the
possibilty to switch that off by some option.

Just my two cents.

I am able to confirm this in:

Version: 6.0.7.3
Build ID: 1:6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.10
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); Calc: group

I didn't trace through it while executing, so I may be looking at the wrong
place for this particular test case, but
core/i18npool/source/search/textsearch.cxx lines 942-952 state explicitly that
they are there to ignore zero-length matches. The specific comment is this:
// #i118887# ignore zero-length matches e.g. "a*" in "bc"

It was a decision made in OpenOffice (I added the link to their bug in the See
Also field).

So this is intended behavior to avoid the matching-every-position case, not a
bug.

Whether it should be intended behavior and how to address it is another
question. Personally, I tend to think that users searching for regular
expressions are knowledgeable about the regex pattern they are providing (or
should be) and therefore we should match the pattern as written.

Could confirm the buggy behavior.

Tested with LO 7.0.0.3 on OpenSUSE 15.1 64bit rpm Linux.
Event doesn't trigger the msgbox.
Changed the event for the listbox inside the tablecontrol.
Next event doesn't trigger the msgbox.

This all works well with LO 6.4.5.2.

AFAIR, the issue was also there in LO 6.

1. Open the attached document.
2. Place the cursor in the first list (page 2) and open the Paragraph style
"Contents 4".
3. Change the font to "Linux Libertine" (not the G or any other variant, but
just the plain version). Close the dialogue.

RESULT: The TAB dotted fill characters are rendered incorrectly. This rendering
is also applied to pdf exports If you look closely, you can see that the dots
are spaced unevenly.

Installed 7.0.0.3 and tested for symptoms of write-up. Found that there has
been no improvement in the action reported as a bug.

NOTE: My previously installed version 6.3.6.2 did not notify my of the new
available version.

Also I do not really know how far back before version 6.0.0.0 this has been
going on since I have not attempted this type of format and process before that
update. I have just been waiting for the correction to happen.
