geez, so i go to delete one of the experimental copied sheets (happened to be
the one at the front, second to last just created), the confirmation dialog
pops up, to which i click 'continue' (or whatever), and LO freezes up, my CPU
jumps to 100%, and it start getting 'close/wait' dialogs. i kept waiting for a
minute or two, but had to just kill it :/

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135821] New: copying secondary sheets gives blank/broken graphs

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135821

Bug ID: 135821
Summary: copying secondary sheets gives blank/broken graphs
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jnq...@gmail.com

Description:
i have a recently created document (.ods) with which i've been experiencing
problems with empty graphs upon copying sheets.

as discussed below, there appears to be two component issues:

 1. bugs with respect to correctly copying and adjusting chart data attributes.
 2. a graphics glitch with graphs not showing data referenced from another
sheet.

let's let this bug report serve for #1, and i'll make a new one for #2 that
refers back here for details.

apologies for the large block of text that follows, this took some time to get
a handle on, and i've spent a lot of time re-writing it over and over as things
developed.

---

the document i created and experienced problems with is about a week old; it
has multiple sheets; each sheet contains graphs, with those graphs only
referencing cells of the sheet that they are embedded within. the first sheet
was copied (via 'move or copy sheet') to create the second, and the new sheet
was adjusted as necessary, including fixing the references of the graphs to
point to the cells in the new sheet rather than the original. additional sheets
were similarly copied and adjusted from others.

when i created the document i was running version 7.0.0~rc2-1 (on Debian). over
the past week or so since then, during which i've edited it, i've updated to
7.0.0-1 and then to 7.0.1~rc1-1.

note that in my testing, unless noted otherwise, i am always asking it to add
the new sheet to the end.

---

please bare with me...

earlier on during production of the document, i experienced the following
issues (of relevance here):

 1. when copying a sheet, the charts (and pivot tables) still referred to the
original sheet, requiring manual adjustment (unexpected and time wasting).
 2. there seemed to be a glitch with such charts referencing other sheets, as
they would be blank until you changed them to point to the new (current) sheet
(containing the graph), saved, closed, and re-opened the document. except if
you clicked on the chart, which would temporarily show the lines/bars until you
clicked off of it.

#2 was what i was originally coming here to report, while at the same time
looking into whether it was possible to change the existing charts to use
relative references to make creation of new sheets easier.

however whilst double checking things today in actually putting together a
report for #2 (especially since having installed an updated LO in the
meantime), things got messy. it seemed that:

 1. a whole new issue had arisen whereby charts would be copied without any
data references.
 2. copying of the first sheet in the document however did not exhibit that
problem, and in fact behaviour seemed to have changed with the copied sheet now
automatically adjusting sheet references to refer to the new sheet.
 3. i was no longer certain whether or not the graphics glitch was still
present.

as i experimented more and more whilst writing this report, i discovered that
what behaviour you experience can vary depending upon not only which sheet you
copy from, but where you choose to place it, and furthermore what actions you
have previously taken...

 - initially i was always having the new sheet placed at the back, and
experiencing issues of graphs with no data references, except when copying the
first sheet, as just described.
 - however i then on a whim tried inserting the copied sheet at the front,
which then exhibited the earlier issues, whereby it retained data references,
which pointed to the copied from sheet, and showed no data (lines/bars) unless
when clicked on. however the glitch only affected the two more complicated
(data-series based graphs), while the more simple data-range based ones showed
no such glitch (despite definitely referencing the copied-from sheet).

furthermore, having on a whim just copied a sheet to the front and experienced
different behaviour, i then copied a sheet to the back again as before, and
this time experienced the same alternate behaviour as with copying to the front
(data references to the copied-from sheet with graphics glitch).

so there's significant buggy differences from different sheet-copy actions:

 - you may end up with a perfectly copied and reference auto-adjusted graph.
 - you may end up with a graph that's not reference auto-adjusted, thus
unexpectedly pointing to the data in the original sheet copied from, and thus
experiencing this secondary graphics glitch issue.
 - you may end up with a broken graph that points to nothing at all.

In that list there are 19 reports. You can count few more by including crash
reports found by KDE crash handler from
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133712 too. Then you have
20 reports with critical severity.

Keep in mind, that at least in my cases, LibreOffice don't provide option to
crash to LibreOffice https://crashreport.libreoffice.org site. Thus crashes are
much more often than you see there.

Dear Lionel Elie Mamane,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135820] New: bad pivot table sheet relative reference auto-correction

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135820

Bug ID: 135820
Summary: bad pivot table sheet relative reference
auto-correction
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jnq...@gmail.com

Description:
i tried removing the sheet name from source and destination references of a
pivot table to see if relative referencing was supported, and thus creating new
sheets by copying existing ones could be done without then having to edit the
pivot tables.

unlike with editing chart cell references, no red warning icon was displayed,
suggesting that relative references are supported. (bug?).

when i did this with a pivot table in the first sheet of the document: on
closing the dialog (with 'okay') and reopening it, the 'destination' reference
had been automatically modified to re-introduce the sheet name. the same had
also been done for 'source', except incorrectly referring to the second sheet
rather than the first (the sheet containing it) for some reason.

when i try the same with a pivot table on other sheets, upon clicking 'okay' in
the dialog, the pivot table gets moved to the first sheet, with 'destination'
always obviously changed to refer to the first sheet, and 'source' always
changed to refer to the second sheet.

Actual Results:

Expected Results:
either a red warning icon should be displayed with use of references lacking a
sheet name being blocked, or alternatively, it should be putting the sheet name
of the current sheet (containing the pivot table).

Reproducible: Always

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135819

Bug ID: 135819
Summary: LibreOffice 7 Fails to Remember AdoptOpenJDK Java
Runtime
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: framework
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vaughn.r...@vchc.biz

LibreOffice 7.0.0.3 X64 fails to retain the settings when a person configures
LibreOffice to use AdoptOpenJDK Java.

Steps to replicate
Finding and Choosing the Java Runtime
Open LibreOffice
Navigate to Tools --> Options --> Advanced
Select Use a Java runtime environment
Click Add
Navigate to an AdoptOpen Java Install (JDK or JRE any version X64 or X32)
The Java Runtime pops up in the window that lists found Java Runtimes
Click Apply
Click Ok

Close LibreOffice
Re-open LibreOffice
Go to Tools --> Options --> Advanced
The Java runtime just selected does not appears
Features that require Java do not work

Further troubleshooting revealed that I do not even need to close Libre Office
down as I can choose the runtime, click Apply and OK, and then re-open the
settings and the runtime is not listed.

I am able to replicate this on a fresh install and on an upgrade install 6.x.

I am also able to replicate this behavior when I am logged in as either
non-admin or admin local computer user.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135818] New: pivot table layout: hidden options not expanded when dialog maximized

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135818

Bug ID: 135818
Summary: pivot table layout: hidden options not expanded when
dialog maximized
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jnq...@gmail.com

Description:
if you open the 'pivot table layout' dialog and maximize it (e.g. drag to the
top of the screen in Gnome), then click on 'options' or 'source and
destination' to reveal the hidden options, nothing happens.

if you do so whilst not maximised it works fine.

similarly, if you click on them while maximized, then drag the window by its
title bar to unmaximize it, you then find that they are then expanded. thus
when maximized, the change in expanded/collapsed state is being correctly
recorded, but is failing to be reflected in the painted dialog.

(the reason i'm maximising the dialog is due to the bottom being cut off on my
display when not maximized, per bug #133124).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135790] "%MOD1" appears in LO Tip of the Day #41

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135790

(In reply to Ming Hua from comment #4)
> the string replacement logic only attempts to replace %MOD1/%MOD2 once
Yes, what I wrote ;-)

(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #5)
> I think we should use "while" blocks to replace MOD1 and MOD2.

Which leaves the other two issues I referenced (localization of modifier keys
and no semicolon in some keyboard layouts). What do you think of changing the
tip to mention the items in the Insert menu instead?

There are three other tips of the day in cui/inc/tipoftheday.hrc with MOD1
twice that also display garbled (and no tips with MOD2 twice):

#38: "To quickly insert or delete rows, select the desired number of rows (or
columns) and press %MOD1+ to add or %MOD1- to delete."), ""

#94: "Configure use of the %MOD1 key to open hyperlinks? Tools ▸ Options ▸
%PRODUCTNAME ▸ Security ▸ Options ▸ “%MOD1+click required to open hyperlinks”."

#153: "Apply Heading paragraph styles in Writer with shortcut keys: %MOD1+1
applies Heading 1, %MOD1+2 applies Heading 2, etc."

Note tip #38 is inconsistent, it should be %MOD1++ and %MOD1+- which is even
more confusing than Ctrl+; , another reason to render keyboard keys as keycaps.
I filed separate enhancement bug 135816.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135816] New: Tip of the Day should draw keycaps for keyboard shortcuts to be less confusing.

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135816

Bug ID: 135816
Summary: Tip of the Day should draw keycaps for keyboard
shortcuts to be less confusing.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: framework
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: i...@skierpage.com

Some of the Tips of the Day that describe keyboard shortcuts are hard to
understand because the keys aren't delineated.

#41: "Need to insert the date in a spreadsheet cell? Type Ctrl+; or
Shift+Ctrl+; to insert the time."

Should I type Ctrl and the plus key, and the semicolon is punctuation?

#85: "To quickly insert or delete rows, select the desired number of rows (or
columns) and press Ctrl+ to add or Ctrl- to delete."

This is inconsistent, it leaves out the +, probably because "Ctrl++ to add or
Ctrl+- to delete" is hard to understand.

Expected results:
Ideally the Tip of the Day would use CSS that renders keycaps around keyboard
keys, e.g. https://jsfiddle.net/7rg5pLs8/1/ . That might also address bug
130979, which talks of the difficulty of localizing the modifier key's name.
Using an HTML renderer might also allow a cleaner fix for bug 135790 by using
HTML named entities and to represent Ctrl-Alt/Cmd-Option instead
of performing string replacements in these tips, or using a templating engine.
It would also probably fix bug 135113 as HTML text is often selectable.

Additional Information:

I think the LibreOffice help documentation likewise doesn't draw keycaps for
keyboard shortcuts, e.g.
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/04/0102.html

This is such a basic bit of functionality, and to get it so wrong... I really
don't understand how this has been overlooked for almost 8 years. The "ALT to
copy" functionality which is currently exhibited is contrary to the LibreOffice
documentation (as mentioned earlier in this thread), but *does* match the
conventions of macOS. Having said that, there is still currently no way in
LibreOffice Calc for macOS to simply rearrange rows and columns like one is
able to in MS Excel or Google Sheets.

"NEW" is not a reasonable status for this issue to have. Is this issue WONTFIX?
If not, what is the expected timeframe in which this will be addressed?

Just take out the cloud image as a standalone image. A cloud image is used to
depict Internet, internal network or sub-network.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99218] Shift-drag doesn't maintain aspect ratio when resizing graph, if graph is in edit mode

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Thomas Lendo changed:

Now in not-editing mode it's the other way around: Resizing after single-click
changes the size of the chart with fixed aspect ratio. Doing the same with
Shift key, then the aspect ratio can be changed.

But in editing mode of the chart, aspect ratio will not respected anyway and
the Shift key has no impact.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135807] Paragraph style changed to Landscape after double clicking page style in sidebar

What I wish to happen..

1) As said in bug 135813 -> The text flow 'break settings' out of the paragraph
dialog and move to dedicated dialog attached to the 'blue page break bar'
2) If I double click a page style in sidebar - page style I want they 'Breaks
with page style being applied. It shouldn't touch the Page Styles -> Next style
setting.

As that is about what the next style should be when inserting a new page break
(ALT+ENTER), if nothing specific is set.

It should solve most annoyances. Or at least some kind benjamin proof, as you
always can override the 'page style' dialog.

Note: this still doesn't solve the issue of Next page style being set on
previous page. So lacking 'page style' or this page. Next page style (for
previous page) maybe the same as 'this page style for the current page, and
also connect, but love access at the 'current page' too

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135813] New: UI: The relation of setting page break/page style inside paragraph dialog is source for confusion

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135813

Bug ID: 135813
Summary: UI: The relation of setting page break/page style
inside paragraph dialog is source for confusion
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
UI: The relation of setting page break/page style inside paragraph dialog is
source for confusion

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attachment 164350
2. Place the cursor at top of page 2
3. Format -> Paragraph -> text flow -> Breaks is checked with page style etc
4. Place cursor on page 2 above the image
5. Format -> Paragraph -> text flow -> Breaks (is unchecked)
6. Check the checkbox, choose a page style..

Actual Results:
Breaks is unchecked. After checking text moves to next page with new page style

Expected Results:
>From my point of view should the whole Text flow break stuff not being inside
the paragraph dialog, but only accessed from the blue page break bar. This
being depended on the top paragraph is evilly confusing.

Especially related because of the page style setting attached to the paragraph.
Which I would attach to the page - so page break - not paragraph.

I really don't see a connect between page style setting & paragraph. If I want
to insert a page break I press CTRL+ENTER (not needing a Text flow "insert page
break' check box). I happily set the page style stuff in the special dialog
dedicated to 'blue page break bar'.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID:
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.3 Build 9600; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: nl-NL (nl_NL); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

Can confirm on v7.0.1~rc1-1 on Debian.

This problem of the window being too large for the screen and not offering
scrolling affects me with a 3200x1800 HiDPI display set to 200% scaling.

It can be worked around by dragging the window to the top of the screen such
that it maximises.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109409] TEXTJOIN and CONCAT ignore transposition of arrays passed to them

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109409

Created attachment 164361
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=164361=edit
The new demo showing the different treatment of parameters passing references
as compared with parameters passing calculatd arrays.

It looks as if CONCAT and TEXTJOIN internally distinguish the cases of
1) a parameter being a reference
2) the parameter being a calculated array
and treat the first case "one row at a time, rows top down",
but the second case "one column at a time, columns left to right"?
This results in a diffrenece like applying TRANSPOSE() would cause it.

Since the specifications for sequences is lacking a decision which one of the
orders should be used, I cannot tell what's actually the bug.
However, the treatment should be consistent, of course.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135812] New: No Help button provided on Calc's Manage Changes dialog

2020-08-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135812

Bug ID: 135812
Summary: No Help button provided on Calc's Manage Changes
dialog
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stevemfanning...@gmail.com

Description:
Most dialogs in Calc provide a Help button which, when clicked, takes the user
to view a context sensitive page within the Help system.

The absence of such a button on this dialog is inconsistent, if not overly
problematic.

Steps to Reproduce:
Select Edit > Track Changes > Manage on the Menu bar and inspect the layout of
the Manage Changes dialog. Expect to see Help button, as on most other Calc
dialog boxes.

Actual Results:
No Help button is provided.

Expected Results:
Not applicable

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 7.0.0.2 (x64)
