Additional information:

Same with paragraph style in sidebar. And very strange behaviour with character
styles: Always Default character Style is highlighted, although this style
isn't used. I haven't tested with table styles and list styles but there should
be a consistent behaviour

Confirmed.

Version: 7.0.0.3 (x64)
Build ID: 8061b3e9204bef6b321a21033174034a5e2ea88e
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

The document launch of STR is being done from the context menu of WDM
integration--and resulting ODT has a weird corruption of the default standard
template with an A4 size page but units and tabs seem correct for US locale.
Just the page size of A4?

The ODT dropped to desktop shows as if coming from cache with its meta.xml
showing
LibreOffice/6.1.5.2$Linux_X86_64 LibreOffice_project/10$Build-2

Reproducible for me with

For me it seems, that LO always highlights the style at the beginning of
selected text. I would consder this as a bug.

Dear Andreas,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

a toggle button would be fine to overcome the issues at hand at the moment. if
something else turned out to be needed or desired then we can look for a way
for it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135862] New: Calc Spreadsheet formulas are automatically recalculated on file load when the option is set to disable recalculation on file load

2020-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135862

Bug ID: 135862
Summary: Calc Spreadsheet formulas are automatically
recalculated on file load when the option is set to
disable recalculation on file load
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: oaoutpo...@gmail.com

Description:
When the Tools > Option > LibreOffice Calc > Formula > Recalculation on File
Load options are set to "Never" or "Prompt", LibreOffice still recalculates the
formulas (at least, external links) unless Data > Calculate > AutoCalculate is
disabled.

This makes sharing files with external links difficult (without sharing the
externally linked document, which may not be shareable for any number of
reasons), since the receiver of the document has no way to prevent LibreOffice
from destroying the values inside the document if the sender forgot to uncheck
the AutoCalculate option.

This creates a chicken-and-the-egg problem:
1. In order to disable AutoCalculate, one must open the spreadsheet; destroying
the links.
2. To avoid destroying the links, one has to disable AutoCalculate; requiring
one to open the document.

Apart from extracting the file with a tool like 7zip and reconfiguring the
options to disable AutoCalculate, there is no way for the receiver to fix the
problem. The only easy workaround is to pester the sender every time to fix the
setting.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create two spreadsheets. Have on spreadsheet link to the other.
2. Disable Tools > Option > LibreOffice Calc > Formula > Recalculation on File
Load
3. Leave AutoCalculate enabled.
4. Save the spreadsheets, send one to the other side of the world (anywhere
separated from the parent spreadsheet), and open it there.

Actual Results:
AutoCalculate resolved external links on document load, destroying the saved
values, even before enabling the automatic external link resolution.

Expected Results:
AutoCalculate should not execute at all on file load when Recalculate on File
Load is disabled or set to prompt.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135860] Crash in: libmergedlo.so

2020-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135860

This bug occurs both in Calc & Writer V6.4.2 and upwared. This bug DOES NOT
occur in 6.3.4 or less.

Writer:
Copy and paste text from any web page and paste into a blank Writer doc. Do
any format corrections and changes then click SAVE - app crashes. The page will
print without error but will not save.

Calc:
Copy and paste any list of characters, numbers, whatever from any web page into
a blank Calc sheet, make any formatting changes desired, click save - app
crashes.

Problem occurs in Versions from 6.4.2 upward, does not occur in 6.3.2 or lower.

I have rolled back my installation to 6.3.2 to continue work.

I have tried this procedure in V 6.4.2, 6.4.4, 6.4.6 & 7.0.0, same result.

Thank you for your comment.

After I found this bug in 7.0.0.3, I deleted everything and went back to
6.4.5.2. Problem persists.

Only difference: the version of Windows I'm using. My old PC had Win 10 x64
V1909, and it worked. Then I got new hardware and installed Win 10 x64 V2004.

So, I think it might be a problem with the version of Windows (Access rights?)

But, I'm no expert on this...

The bugtracker isn't to accessible. Registering, English only (with an
international audience); certain requirements without really 'good' guidance.
If you know what you're doing it's rather simple, but posting for the first
time quite a hurdle, IMHO.

The main idea: there are sometimes lots of crashes in the some area (if crash
reporter would show to full stack; currently not the case), where some small
comments could give some hints where to look.

So if they crash reporter would ask for a small description this might help. A
group of people assumes that the 'crash reporter' reports all what 'we' need to
know to solve the problem.

It's actually more used for statistics and sometimes a helpful BT. But
conversion rate from crash report to bug report not great. And the people who
make it from crash reporter to bug tracker (clicking the link in the reporter I
assume) report the default fields most of time without any additional info

However with the current quality of BT of the crash reporter it's pointless for
sure. And if it would work is questionable too.. so going for NOTABUG

Is this enhancement request still valid?

I doubt that user input will help to make LibreOffice better. Moreover you need
man power to analyze and utilize the comments. If a user want give more
information he/she is enforced to create a bug report with the crash ID. I
don't think more is needed.

Bug ID: 135858
Summary: Rename file in 8.3 format

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium

  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
I found an easy job to do in the commit "we're not in DOS anymore"
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=7c67a8f4e837669ea23d1bc98e3d6fb78025066f

The job is to rename files that have a 8.3 filename.

I build a small (and ugly but do the job) python script to find files to
rename.

The script lists every file and each file, it try to found inside the
declaration of a class where the filename is a abbreviation. For example the
script found that the file "./filter/source/graphicfilter/idxf/dxfgrprd.hxx"
has a class "DXFGroupReader" so the file should be renamed "DXFGroupReader.hxx"
or "dxfgroupreader.hxx".

I did not limit length file to 8 to be able to found more files.

What do you think about it ? Is it a good idea ?

Steps to Reproduce:
-

Actual Results:
Some filename are truncated or don't have vowel anymore.

Expected Results:
Rename file to ease maintenance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135856] New: Cannot scroll large slide content or zoom in ouside slide boundry

2020-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135856

Bug ID: 135856
Summary: Cannot scroll large slide content or zoom in ouside
slide boundry
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mihai.vasiliu...@gmail.com

Description:
When using MS PowerPoint to create a slide which has items (shapes, textboxes
etc.) outside/beyond the slide area, the items are not reachable in LO Impress.
You can zoom out to see all content beyond the slide area, but you cannot zoom
in on the elements themselves if they are far off out of the slide area. The
same applies to scrolling.
In PowerPoint the vertical and horizontal scrollbars adjust automatically so
you can scroll however you like ouside the slide area if there are elements
outside, but in Impress the scrollbars have fixed lengths so you cannot reach
the elements far away.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the pptx presentation attached.
2. Follow the instructions on the slide => Try to follow the blue arrows to
reach the orange tear at the end by any means.
3. You can't reach it, but you can see it if you zoom out enough.

Actual Results:
The horizontal scroll bar does not resize to allow to scroll the work area to
the end of the last element. In this case to be able to see the orange tear.
You cannot reach all the elements on the work area without zooming very far
away. Even if you zoom, you cannot move the orange tear outside a predefined
area by LO Impress. Editing is limited to a specific area, but in PowerPoint it
is virtually infinite.

Expected Results:
The horizontal scrollbar should auto-resize to allow scrolling to the very last
element on the work area.
Zooming should be able to zoom in on any element.
Moving the elements should be allowes outside the Impress predefined area.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
This is very important for me as me and my colleagues have very large diagrams
on the slide that go beyond the slide area that we reposition each time we want
to show different things on the slide and hide the rest.
PowerPoint works fine with this. So LO Impress has to do this as well!
Thanks.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135855] New: Enhancement: RAND.NV() recalculation extended to named and/or marked cell-ranges containing RAND.NV()

2020-08-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135855

Bug ID: 135855
Summary: Enhancement: RAND.NV() recalculation extended to named
and/or marked cell-ranges containing RAND.NV()
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gmild...@t-online.de

Description:
The introducion of RAND.NV() is fine! However it´s behaviour that it can be
triggered by F9 only when the focus is on the cell conaining RAND.NV() is
i.m.h.o. a bit too special. I expected (and tried) marked- as well as named
cell-ranges which contained
several RAND.NV()s with the focus on arbitrary cells within these ranges, but
only the specified cell was recalculated.
I´d suggest to extend RAND.NV()-functionality as described above. While giving
more flexibility, this would not spoil the
original function.
Thanx and best regards,
Gerd

Steps to Reproduce:
1.easy, see description
2.
3.

Actual Results:
RAND.NV() is not recalculated on F9
(no bug, is as documented)

Expected Results:
obvious, see above

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
OS is Win 10

You are right, the german local is the problem and you can even change it in
the import dialog.

However I notice some very strange behaviour. If I import the value "0.1234"
and "0.12", it will be imported as string (I think? At least I can not add to
it), even with a german local. Only if you have a number with three digits
after the dot it will be imported as number 123. Also see testcase2.csv

I would propose to make it consistent for all cases.
Thanks!

Bug ID: 135854
Summary: Image disappearing of changing page wrap to optimal
(paragraph where the 'as character' image is anchored
to' is moving up
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
Image disappearing of changing page wrap to optimal (paragraph where the 'as
character' image is anchored to' is moving up

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open the attached file
2. Change the wrap of the second image on the first page to something different

Actual Results:
Image of page 2 moves up to page 1 and gets invisible (because of the 'to
character anchoring'. Change it to 'to paragraph or to character' before
changing the wrap and the same jump occurs

Expected Results:
The hard part, there is a logical explanation for this. OTOH rather annoying
experience. As wrap can have large impact.

Sometimes I wish anchoring was to 'a row', instead of to specific 'paragraph'
or anchor. So the anchor is attached to a 'certain' line (similar to line
numbering'). Paragraphs also being virtually present at area's where image wrap
doesn't allow paragraphs. So it's anchoring is unaffected by wrap settings.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135836] UI: Discourage usage of the to page anchor by hiding it from toolbar/context menu

It;s more or less based on ask posting. "I strongly advocate against this type
of anchoring."

FWIW, there is also bug 135835. Where I'm advocating for name change. There are
more or less two different directions/proposals :-).

I surely don't know they legit user cases. However I assume quite a number of
benjamins are abusing/misusing 'to page' anchoring. And in addition you get
comp-ability issue with different formats.

Removal maybe excessive, but suppression might be helpful. We are talking about
what's desired for largest group of users, IMHO

The context menu can be customized and the 'to page' re-added if people desire
it. This more about what should be the default. And it's not so that the option
is gone; it's still in image properties; so it can be seen.

I'm surely unaware of the group using to page anchoring for legit reason "for
doing large frame and section document layouts." etc. However not sure if it
should be advisable to design posters with Writer, but that's more a hunch.

This is actually similar to the discussion about 'mark-down feature' or
'tabbed' mode. What's desired for group A is problematic for group B, and less
optimal for C. Hiding special features, make them unknown. Make special feature
more prominent and other people get confused of frustrated. As Markdown has
undesired results depending what you're doing(and I'm still bit of geeky
feature used by certain group/professions). Similar to LaTeX is being promoted
some area's.

The one size fits all will always be complicated. At some point the we end up
with modes: 'regular user' (tabbed, basic), "power-user" (toolbar + ??),
graphic designer (special toolbar setup). If this is done by an installation
wizard/ extension or whatever. Or list of setting with a preset depending on
type of user

There quite of group of people annoying by the autosuggest (without known it
can be turned off). Or as said the mark-down feature (which surely must make
some people crazy). Or people being unaware of special replacement lists. Or
even extensions like LanguageTool for that matter (not knowing much about must
used extensions actually).

I doubt the current behaviour was intentional, the more because that
column-wise handling is also applied to external range references as those are
obtained as a matrix.

This is bad on so many facets. Anchor to page is critical for doing large frame
and section document layouts. Think posters and artboards.

Otherwise, the ODF handling is pretty correct. Issues of export round-trip
import conversions as MS binary or OOXML formats are legitimate filter issues.
But do not merit elimination/supression of a substantial LO capability in

According to Weblate, there is currently no string that contains "Finish"
(which include all instances of "finished" as well) and is translated to
"Abbrechen" for German on 6-4 branch:
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/languages/de/libo_ui-6-4/search/?offset=1=source%3AFinish_by=-priority%2Cposition

The German translation "Abbrechen" usually corresponds to "Abort" or "Cancel"
in English. Such an translation error would be highly unusual. Please provide
more detailed steps to display the string in question, the current steps are
too vague (Which extension? How to use it? Exactly what is Wollmux?).

@Justin
Only out curiosity. Is this more or less the same as 135578 comment 10? Or
unrelated?

Off topic mode:
I still consider - or hope - that all of the issue being caused by one flaw (or
number of smaller flaws coming together). So one fix will squeeze the 100 bugs
of mine at once ;-). I as what I intend to do is to create a kind of sample
database.

OTOH, I'm still finding inconsistency's in M. Stahl his anchor unifying
approach. So deleting empty paragraph moves images up. So in the worst case
there plenty of smaller tweaks needed to get everything into one harmonized,
coherent single model.
Instead of a general line with quite a bunch of exceptions. Which you can call
corner cases to some extend, but with the number of anchors around and all
kinds of editing rather normal to hit once in a while. At the point you start
fixing it up again. As you can mostly can work around it, but still
infuriating, maddening, frustrating, time consuming business.

LibreOffice handles images in some ways better compared to Word, but not sure
if this is true of the whole line. Especially if you take into account DOCX
anchoring oddities not seen in ODT etc.

I get same result (i.e. broken 'button-control' font-color setting, just
reverts to black) with a different machine running Win10(x64)+ latest
LO7(release) using a new empty database and a fresh form.

As far as I have seen all other form control fonts + colors seem to be ok...

Looking at again.. this feels bit like more or less 'bad luck' on export. The
fundamental issue is position of anchors etc.

Bug 135849 is based on this (slightly modified), but illustrates similar issues
when moving.

Only thing out loud.. possibility to prevent this would be emulating a page
break presence. Image are far less likely to jump around to different pages
(but not sure what the over all effect would be related to the whole text flow
concept

The dialog to format data points (xy-charts) does not offer to pin the name of
the series to a data point. The only checkmarks are for the value or the
category. A checkmark for the data series name should be added to this dialog.

Typically the legend connects the name of the data series with its
color/symbol. If you cannot (or don't want to) use a legend, this option will
let you add the name of the data series WITHIN the chart at each data point you
want.

Hi,

I would like to link a calc table (format and content) into a writer document,
but the table should still be linked to the calc table. I didn't find a
solution to do that.

- HTML table looks very good, but does not have an option to keep the link to
the calc file
- DDE Link is not a solution, because the document should be printed to pdf and
the hyperlinks inside the table should still work.

compatibility setting for MS Word wrapping text in less space
(bnc#822908)

The document itself is stupid and uses a SURROUND_THROUGH object with a
number
of empty lines that make it act is if it in fact was SURROUND_NONE,
rather
than actually disabling wrapping for the object and be done with it.
But the difference was that Word still managed to fit those empty lines
next to the object into the little space that was there, while LO
already
considered the space too small. So keep a compatibility setting for
Word
documents in order to avoid problems with such lame documents and
hopefully
that's enough.

German locale uses comma (,) as the decimal point symbol instead of period (.),
and period (.) is used as separator in long numbers, such as 1.000.000.000 for
a (US) billion. So in your case values like 0.234 are intepreted as integer
0234 instead of 234/1000.

To import CSV files with period as decimal point, you probably need to change
"Decimal separator key" to period in Tool > Options > Language Settings >
Languages, and unselect "Same as locale setting". Maybe there is a setting in
the CSV import dialog, but my cursory search didn't find anything.

Let's close this one as fixed, since the original steps to reproduce only refer
to context menus and there's (now) a separate bug report for dialogs:
