[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137725] New: Random Uyghur text in the documentation

2020-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137725

Bug ID: 137725
Summary: Random Uyghur text in the documentation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Documentation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ddascalescu+freedesk...@gmail.com
CC: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org

At
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/ug/text/scalc/guide/userdefined_function.html
I see a bunch of junk-lookin text in the sidebar that upon Google Translate, is
autodetected to be Uyghur. I have absolutely no settings anywhere that indicate
that I'd understand that langauge, and that text is mixed in with English
anyway.

Example:

بۇ بۇيرۇقنى زىيارەت قىل…

If I click on the first one,
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/ug/text/scalc/01/0406.html?DbPAR=CALC,
it leads to a page with a bunch of sections in that language.

1. Google "libre calc python define function search"
2. Click on the first result,
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/ug/text/scalc/guide/userdefined_function.html
3. Try to follow "Choose Tools - Options - LibreOffice Basic."

It's unclear what program that refers to. I assume Calc. There's no
"LibreOffice Basic" menu under Tools -> Options.

Dear Ulrich Windl,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

proposal for Outline Content Visibility help in Navigator

@Jim, etc. - will be grateful for your assessment of this attached proposal.

A question:

Am I wrong to believe that it is exhaustive (in relation to functionality)?

A comment:

Not all variations are listed within a heading - in the belief that less is
more. That is, also adding "Hide All" for Headings seems to obscure the point.
Similarly for giving "Show all" for the "level". The idea is that in
explaining one, it will be easy to understand the other in context (and
confusing to have to understand two variations, when learning for the first
time). -- opinions?

Comments about UI -- no need to answer here.

1. Given that you use "fold" to describe the operation, perhaps "Fold All" is
better than "Hide All" ("fold" gives a better conceptual image from user POV).

2. For individual items, probably you have "state" information. So instead of
"Toggle", why not give a state-dependent: "Fold" or "Open" ?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137723] New: FORMATTING Wrong formatting of new cells after inserting a new column in a table of an Impress presentation

2020-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137723

Bug ID: 137723
Summary: FORMATTING Wrong formatting of new cells after
inserting a new column in a table of an Impress
presentation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mp3848-9...@yahoo.com

Description:
After inserting a new column in a table in an Impress presentation, the
formatting used for new cells differs from the one used in the cells that were
created with the table.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new Impress presentation.
2. Change slide layout to "Blank slide".
3. Insert a table.
4. (Optionally) Select all the cells.
5. (Optionally) Change formatting, for example, center the text in all cells.
6. Write some text (for example, "a") in all the cells of last two columns.
7. Select the last column.
8. Right click, select "Insert", then "Insert Column After".
9. Write something (for example, "a") in the newly inserted column.

Actual Results:
The text ends up written in a different style (probably the style of slide text
since it is a bulleted list and has font "Liberation Serif", as opposed to
"Liberation Sans" used in table by default).

Expected Results:
The text should have ended up written in the style in which the text of the
rest of the table is written (more specifically, the style in which the text in
the column next to the inserted one is written).

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
That does not seem to happen if there is no text in the table. Furthermore, it
looks like the formatting is only corrupted for rows which had text.

First, no problem with your English, we all here aren't native English

Second, we use headers on pages to have the same content on each page.
If you want have different headers for each page , then just set up page styles
for every page in your document (I'm not sure why it can be need, but...)

So, -1 from me and => NAB

Second sample document

I'm adding another document with a few further examples.

In addition to the different ratio (at least one picture has a smaller
one, so I'm changing the title of this report) one of the images there
appears vertically mirrored and some are colored instead of grey -- so
I am wondering whether there is a set of attributes missed upon import?

Nothing wrong with your proposed fix IMO, so that's as
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/104757

The remaining problem looks sort of odd, but seems to boil down that we throw
away the EditView on showing that dialog and we rely on Paint to recreate it if
necessary so it has to always call GetEditView() to ensure that which wasn't
obvious to me

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99116] StartCenter’s hardcoded color scheme doesn’t work for high-contrast mode users

On macOS there is neither a high-contrast mode nor a dark mode. The latter is
caused by an incompartibility of current macOS SDKs (not by colors). There are
currently no problems with coloring related to Startcenter on macOS.

I think the error happens when is not used the simple SPACE U+0020, as when I
tested with it the error didn't appear. I used the EM SPACE U+2003 after
"justifiquem." Maybe the error will appear with other horizontal whitespace
characters (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitespace_character#Unicode).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135668] [LOCALHELP] Writer: add info about submenu items for "Headings" context menu in Navigator

Created attachment 166678
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=166678=edit
Possible solution about how to provide help about Navigator context menus

Attached is a picture that shows an approach providing help about the context
menus in Navigator.

1. It is complete in the sense of showing all the essential characteristics.

2. But incomplete in the sense that it addresses only the first 6 categories in
Navigator, but the last 6 do not have any features not already shown here.

3. The "line-spacing" is a consequence of the tool used, but in .html pages,
it would appear like other tables that you might know (e.g., for fields,
numbering styles). I mention this because the query here is to get feedback
about the way of giving an understandable overview of the available information
(trying to be complete, but avoid unnecessary redundancy).

4. I will not explain the picture -- beyond mentioning that the items in
"blue" are links to further information, either provided on the Navigator page
or
other pages with the information -- and that all the items for Headings that
start with "Promote", "Demote", or "Outline" would get links.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137722] New: [HYPHENATION] PT-BR language does not break a word

2020-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137722

Bug ID: 137722
Summary: [HYPHENATION] PT-BR language does not break a word
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Linguistic
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: joaopauloag-freedesk...@yahoo.com.br
CC: so...@libreoffice.org

Description:
PT-BR hyphenation does not break the word "justifiquem" / "jus-ti-fi-quem".

Steps to Reproduce:
Tested on LibreOffice 6.4.6, 64 bits, and on LibreOffice Portable 7.0.1.2:

Version: 7.0.1.2 (x86)
Build ID: 7cbcfc562f6eb6708b5ff7d7397325de9e764452
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: pt-BR (pt_BR); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

1. Create a new document.
2. Change the Default Paragraph Style, Text Flow, to enable hyphenation.
Change Font, Language, to Portuguese (Brazil).
3. Type the word "justifiquem" (without quotation marks) and, before it, any
sequence of words until it is expected the hyphenator break it.

Actual Results:
LibreOffice Writer breaks the line before the word "justifiquem" instead of
breaking it on the following hyphen marks: jus-ti-fi-quem.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice Writer should break the word "justifiquem" on any of the following
hyphen marks: jus-ti-fi-quem.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The Brazilian Portuguese language is installed by default with LibreOffice
Portable for a quick test without needing to install anything.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128298] CALC - it doesn't work Paste Special (unformatted text)

2020-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128298

Colin changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED

I regularly experience this problem and may be able to offer some further
insights.

For me, it mostly occurs when copying highlighted data presented in an array
from a web page but it also happens when an excel file has been downloaded from
the internet and opened by CALC.

When the source is a web array then it's imåpossible to immediately tell
whether the data has actually been copied by [Ctrl]+C as the attempt to paste
or paste special appears not to have any data to copy because the "selection"
box simply doesn't appear when [Ctrl]+[Shift]+V is invoked. However, if
[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Alt]+V is utilised this will "Often" produce the desired
effect.

The anomaly can sometimes also be cleared by simply selecting another small
item from the internet or a single cell from the existing sheet and randomly
"pasting" that into a "scrap" location before returning to the genuine cut &
paste.

What is noticable with a failing Calc to Calc copy is the lack of the "animated
marquee" which would normally surround the source selection within calc. It
will always be missing (perhaps the ants died) and will not appear regardless
of how many [Ctrl]+C attempts are made. Again, shifting focus and producing a
"scrap" cut and paste will often clear the error and permit the genuine task to
be completed.

Given below are two Web targets that will fail almost as often as they succeed.
Be persistent ;).

The first,

https://www.euro-jackpot.net/en/results

Select "View draw details and prize breakdown" this will sort the results in
numerical order. Select the 7 results by mouse drag [Ctrl]+C and then [Ctrl]+V
into a worksheet. It's fairly random so if it works first time then simply
retry the sequence with a fresh sheet and selection attempt. Also, if it fails
but the full [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Alt]+V combination is invoked it will sometimes
copy the data but in the original random order.

The second,

https://platz.se/coronavirus/?page=overview=en

Mouse select everything from and including the "Sweden" label to the final cell
of the "Östergötlands län #21" label and paste special as "unformatted text".
There will be occasions when it works perfectly, occasions when it fails to
provide the dialogue box, occasions when [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Alt]+V will accomplish
the objective and occasions when a lesser man would consider spinning the
revolver's cylinder and seeing if he has the same success with russian roulette
;)).

If you need a good web source for an excel download that sometimes works first
time I can provide any number upon request.

I have reset the report to unconfirmed.

Thanks for all your messages and help.

This process does not work the way I thought it would and after searching the
Internet for "How do I backup my profile in Libreoffice" the reference returns
me to the place I began.

I consider this issue closed. I have a lot of work to do, a couple of weeks of
setting and testing the effect of the settings on my version of Libreoffice and
I need to get started with it.

I appreciate all the input. I have opened the .xcu file and am very
intimidated by what I see. I made no changes but have no idea, without going
through all the 600+ lines of code what any of it does.

Back to the beginning. I will forget about working with Libreoffice for a few
days while I attempt to recover and maybe even fix some settings that were a
bother to me before.

I think I made a mistake when looking at Impress. It's indeed the same compared
to Draw. Maybe bad

Lets downsize the scope and stick to 'naming'.

Must it be 'Properties'. "Page Properties" and "Slide Properties" would be bit
clearer. Yes, it's might be obvious. However keep in mind you 'don't add' Page
or Slide before all of the items in the menu. So pretty inconsistent. And
doesn't affect the size of the menu. And not saying harm done by a possible
repeat.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137669] Different headers for each page

We should be able to do this with a template and defining all the page styles
needed to hold the differing header/footer content.

Done from SB -> Styles -> Page panel, selecting a model style, and using the
'New from Selection' button action.

However, was testing in current master against 7.1.0 and noticed that for
preparing a template the page header/footer tabs will not honor clearing the
for the Left, Right or First page:

'Same content on left and right'

'Same content of first'

So an extra step of having to duplicate those coming from Standard template
(and delete from template to avoid confusion).

Once the different page styles are created--one for each header/footer
needed--they are added to the template using the Insert break... dialog from
menu Insert -> More Breaks -> Manual break.

With each insert edit the header/footer the page style being defined. Use fixed
text and fields as needed.

Save-as 'ODF Text Document Template (.ott)'

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137556] Crash if I try to open the Print dialog (GTK3)

2020-10-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

> Which Linux distribution are you using?

I am (still) running Linux Mint Mate 18.3. Please find the version information
for my linux distribution included in one of the earlier posts.

> Do you reproduce the crash if you launch with --safe-mode?

Yes, definitely. I just sent another report of a crash that happened in safe
mode.

> Master now requires GTK 3.20

Good to know. This means that I will have to run LO7.1 with the generic user
interface.

Tom

Actually, it's been bibisected to Regina's commit, the commit that goes under
Norbert's name is the one in the bibisect repository, and is not relevant. The
relevant commit hash is always what follows "source sha:", which points to a
commit in the LibreOffice repository.

Raal gave the gerrit link in addition, which is another way to point to the
change. The commit itself is the following:

FWIW, in 7.1 the menu "Distribution..." was changed to "Distribute Selection",

Hudson, thanks for your enhancement request. For me it sounds like a very

request. But let's aks Design-Team for decision.

As a workaround you can work with different page styles and have individual
headers for each page style.

Alright, let's close this bug as WORKSFORME.

TorrAB, I acknowledge that there are two additional UI problems:

(1) The keyboard accelerator Alt+C is used for multiple UI items in the Find
and Replace dialog (Ctrl+H), and it would be nice to have them use separate
ones. This is a l10n issue, and should be solved by French translators.

(2) There is no accelerator for the "Match case" checkbox in the Find toolbar
(Ctrl+F) ("Respecter la casse" for French). This is for all languages and
should be solved by developers.

Please file separate bugs if you want further discussions on either of these
two issues.

No, repositioning the Properties was done with the main menu reorganization. A
function of applicable scope.

Page -> Properties
Slide -> Properties

You'll note that on Impress applicable to the Slide object, on Draw it is the
Page object but that the layout is consistent (the Properties is not on the
Format menu) and controls the specific page or slide of the ODF document.

On Writer it is Format -> 'Page style' as it is linked to Paragraph style
handling and other configuration of the entire ODF Text document

On Calc it is Format -> Page (actually also page style), though one could argue
to place it on the Sheet menu. But like Writer it configures layout of the
entire Spreadsheet as a document.

See https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/104756

I cleaned up the last bit of the patch (and a preceding line) to be more
consistent (initialise both CGRect structs there the same way), and to not use
the "x" prefix for something that is not a UNO reference.

Further improved patch based on the color depth limit patch.

1. Improved drawing performance on 10-bit displays by avoiding multiple color
space conversions.
2. Make all drawing context bitmaps have the same color space and byte order of
the host system.
3. Fixed serious CG-related memory leak (existed no later than version 7.0)
when changing the window size.

https://git.libreoffice.org/core/commit/7efd182997cb29ed4820145efc99a6c18e2c3303

I guess it can't be called a regression because the earlier original rendering
was so off.

That is not what I have proposed and it is quite different, because you get an
OLE object.
If the regular "open" does not work (why not?), an alternative is this: Set the
slide size to the same width and height as used in the Draw-document. Then use
menu Slide > Insert Slide from File.
