The same effect is apparent with a vertically adjacent range of cells. The same effect is apparent if the "filled" cell is at either extremity of the [Merge & Centre Cells] range If two cells contain data then the merge rules are handled correctly BUT all cells will adopt the "first cell" format. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130719] Overwriting Writer styles does not overwrite changes to Marginalia paragraph style
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130719 --- Comment #31 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to sdc.blanco from comment #30) > @Mike, is it as simple as this: > >Only styles that were applied or modified are loaded. > >This principle applies both to documents and templates, > > If this is correct, then please ignore previous message (comment 29). This is formally correct, *if* you (a user reading the help article) realizes what "modified" means - specifically, modified relative to what (and here those built-in defaults come into play). Because otherwise what "modified" might mean for a "standard" (= shipped with application) templates? They are "unmodified", aren't they? they are considered the starting point, so what "modified" has to do with those?... The "global application default" concept is itself something not very well-defined. There's nothing in *ODF* standard that tells about what, say, "Heading 2" looks like by default in text documents. So LibreOffice has some arbitrary defaults built-in, which may accidentally differ from the defaults in OOo or other implementations... The user-visible behaviour is like this: Opening any document, LibreOffice loads all styles defined in the document. They are listed in style manager. Every such style contains maybe hundreds of simple properties, but ~no document ever includes all those simple property defined in any single style. So let's say, we have two paragraph styles defined in a document (for simplicity), "Default" and "Heading 1". The "Default" is the root of the style hierarchy; in this document, it has just two properties defined: font face and font size. "Heading 1" in this document inherits from "Default", and has only two properties defined: font size and paragraph alignment. But both styles have many other properties, like line spacing, borders, etc. Every property not defined in "Heading 1" is taken from "Default"; any property not defined in "Default" it taken from some hard-coded global program default. Here we meet the program defaults for the first time. This time, to complicate things, the defaults are format-specific: e.g., for styles loaded from ODT, they will have values different from defaults for a DOCX. And if it happens that a future version of the program has different defaults, then the document may appear different (which would be a regression, so for a changed default, we usually introduce a compatibility option, but not always - e.g., László had not introduced one for page backgrounds that fill the whole page opposed to older behavior filling only area inside page margins). But after loading all the styles from the document, LibreOffice does the next step: it adds some pre-defined style names to the list. Those are styles like "Text Body", "Heading 2", etc. which are *absent* in the loaded document, but hard-coded in the program. They are listed in the style list, but they are initially only there, not in the actual document. It would be nice if they be marked somehow - say, "greyed out", as "possible to insert into this document", to highlight that they are not yet there ... but ATM there's no such highlight. Unless you do something with those "not yet existing" styles (and you don't know which in list are those), they will also not get into the file on disk when you press "save" ... so they are just something in the style list, neither read from file nor written back. They have their respective settings - and those settings are also taken from the built-in program defaults defined for each of those styles separately. *If* you open such style and modify anything, it will become modified *respective to those internal program defaults*, and then it will become part of the document. Or yo may not modify it, and instead just apply the style to anything in the document (e.g. to a paragraph). Then the style also gets into the file on save. I don't know how to describe this to a user in unambiguous and not too technical way; and there's definitely a UX problem with absence of user-visible indication which of the styles in the list are part of the document, and which are just added by the program; which settings of a style are defined in the file, and which are taken from the program defaults ... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 113383] [Calc] Transparency in charts garbles PRINT PREVIEW.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113383 --- Comment #5 from QA Administrators --- Dear kurt.pfeifle, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138079 Bug ID: 138079 Summary: Preinstalled themes colors are filling only the right part of the window, on high resolution displays Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.0.3.1 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: daniel.nede...@protonmail.com Description: Selecting and applying a preinstalled theme, instead of the default look, from Tools>Options>Personalization, leads to the color of the theme filling only the right part of the window, if the window is wide enough, on a high resolution display. The problem seem to be common to Write, Calc, Draw, Presentation, maybe other parts as well. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open any LibreOffice app, on a systems with a high resolution display 2. Select and apply a preinstalled theme from Tools>Options>Personalization 3. Widen the window until you notice the problem. 4. Voila! Actual Results: The color of the preinstalled theme is filling only a part of the window, starting from the right side [of the user]. Expected Results: The color of the preinstalled theme should fill the entire window. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: System: Windows 10 Pro, version 20H2, build 19042.572, display resolution of (3840 by 2400) pixel, when this was noticed. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 86005] EDITING: Wrongly calculated value 1 in calc
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=86005 b. changed: What|Removed |Added CC||newbie...@gmx.de --- Comment #7 from b. --- just to set some things clear: the intial fail for this bug isn't any function like INT, MOD or FLOOR ... but the representation of originally 'decimal' defined values by dyadic / binary 'floating-point' numbers with limited length, and the subtraction of such values 'with similar magnitude', e.g. '8,45 - 8' on such operations the 'upper bits' are zeroed by 'cancellation', and only few significant bits are left to define the result, (consider metering a distance to 1,052 +/-0,0005 meters, that's about +/- 0,5 promille accuracy, now subtract 1 meter with similar precision, you have 0,052 meter with a potential error of +/- 0,001 m, that's about 2 percent error range), thus the result has as much 'missing accuracy' as the magnitude of the result is below the magnitude of the arguments, because the absolute error of up to +/- 0,5 ULP, which is inherent in any fp-value, is kept, but is much bigger relative to a smaller result than the bigger operand before, and thus becomes visible, (it becomes more than one ULP of the result by 'bit shifting' to gain 'normalized' representations with a '1' in the first place), 8,45 is in the range where fp's are puzzeled together from '1,x * 2^3', while 0,45 as result is in a range where they are constructed from 1,y * 2^-2, thus an error of up to 0,5*2^-49 injected from 8,45 (where it vanishes in the lack of precision / granularity of values) is now affecting a number ~2^5 times smaller, and that is! visible ... and if not instantly spotted or rounded away for display (column to small or numberformat insufficient) it becomes visible by 'flip-flop' ('borderline') functions like INT, MOD, FLOOR etc. which don't calculate smooth 'near target', but make digital decisions 'in' or 'out', german proverb: 'just beside it is also over' as long as calc doesn't implement 'decimal-safe' datatypes or starts to consider the (decimal) string representation for the calculations ... the only chance for users is to try to avoid such calculations ... the developers try their best and achieve small improvements every now and then, but the basic problem remains and cannot be solved 'within' the simple IEEE 754 standard from 1985, '1/3 is periodically ended number but the result of the equation above is not' - the result shouldn't be, but it suffers from intermediate values like 8,45 being endless fractions in binary, and from the 'error blow up' by 'high-bit-cancellation', to get 0,45 you need 01101 in the end of the mantissa, but the mantissa doesn't know and pulls 5 zeroes from the 'off', 'So it appears that while LibreOffice may format a number to 20 places' - the 20 decimals are 'fake' in most cases, for values like 1,222... you get 14, for 0,345... you get 15 valid decimal places and 6/5 padding '0', 0,0123... can use the whole range of digits, 'the internal calculations are only valid up to 15 places.' - 64 bit fp allows 15,95 decimal digit accuracy, cutted down to 15 by calc, of which some sometimes get lost in rounding, scientific format shows max 14 digits but has at least one more digit internal (you can key it in, but cannot see ... ) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
