ODT compared LO MSO

I don't agree with WontFix because LO-saved DOC is reopened rather good with
MSO.
Meaning that DOC bug is not saving but that LO doesn't reopen it's saved DOC.
And I guess it should.

There's something unclear here. Comment 7 claims that attachment 83600 is DOC
from LO master and it looks good. But it doesn't unfortunately say which master
and which commit. Should be found. Probably some change and revert in 4.2.

I also add DOCX comparison. It's a different issue, not covered by this bug,
but let me note that spacing is not correct. Should be searched for existing
bug.

Uniqueness is one reason but the other is the ability to hide items in the

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138124

Not sure what to think about this. It almost has to have exposed an existing
potential problem. The difference between 6.0 and now after jmux's adding the
stuff back in is that he exits from utext -> lcl_utext almost right away, while
before it processed the function to the end (and supposedly effectively did
nothing). But removing jmux's "return" and letting it process all the way
through doesn't "fix" the problem now.

The fact that this is a footnote problem is too much to just be coincidence, so
I believe the bisect and this must be a decent starting point, but I'm pretty
sure that there is nothing wrong with the commit itself.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122710] PRINT DIALOG: For "Pages to print" field interpret space as separator for a list of distinct pages to print

2020-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Michael Weghorn from comment #5)
> This also matches what Gtk and Qt print dialogs do. When I enter "1 4 5"
> there, both show an error dialog, saying: "1 4 5 does not follow the correct

> and make sure ranges do not intersect with each other."

To correct myself: Actually, only the Qt print dialog shows this error message.
(I had GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 set when quickly testing, so the Gtk applications I was
testing were also using the Qt print dialog...).
When using the Gtk print dialog (tested with gedit), "1 4 5" just prints the
first page, which is not what I'd have expected.

In general, I'd suggest to be consistent with what other print dialog
implementations (like Gtk or Qt or native Win/Mac print dialogs) do, which IMHO
will help to avoid confusion for users.

(In reply to Ulf Zibis from comment #6)
> I would like:
> 1. Separators: ',' ';'

Sounds good to me.

> 2. Range specifiers: '-' ':'

I wouldn't introduce ":" as additional range specifier, it wouldn't be clear to
me. Gtk handles it as a separator...

> 3. Allow half defined ranges

That's an interesting thought.

> 4. Also allow space as separator, but only if directly surrounded by
> numbers, otherwise ignore it. This is, because space is commonly used as
> separator or just after ',' or ';', but maybe don't officially mention space

I tend to not allow space as separator (e.g. Gtk and Qt don't handle it that
way)

> Main rule: If the definition seems semantically ambiguous, never waste paper
> for possibly unwanted pages. the user can always do a 2nd run if pages are
> missing.

I have a strong preference to reject ambiguous/invalid page specifications
(e.g. by showing a dialog) and allow the user to correct that BEFORE printing
anything that the user might not expect, which would IMHO be the most effective
and least confusing way to avoid printing unwanted pages.

The expected result is that, when we type in the search box, it starts to
search from the initial state, not from the result we filtered in the next
step.

For example,
a
1
2
3
4

If we first type in "1" and click OK, then the filtered result contains 1.
Then, if we type in "2" (without clear the filter), we should get "2" in the
list, and if then click "OK", the row "2" should be shown.

I guess it's grey because in the first searched result there is no records

Interesting, I tried what you said to do and found the opposite. Opening from
the Thunderbolt Display (from Finder) to the Thunderbolt display resulted in
clear text, whereas opening it from Finder on the Retina display for the Retina
display resulted in blurry text.

I use the Windows version with Wine on Fedora 33. It has a few quirks, but it
is still far more usable than Libre Office. Fixing this bug would go a long
way to getting Libre Office to catch up to Word Pro

Dear muzzol,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 47953] "Error loading BASIC of document" error messages

2020-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47953

(In reply to Xisco Faulí from comment #20)
> is it still reproducible in a master build ? How can it be reproduced ?
The result is very easy to reproduce, delete your /basic/Standard/script.xlb , and start Writer. What deletes/truncates
the file isn't known, possibly a crash at the wrong time, so that may be
extremely hard to reproduce, and while it'd be great to fix, the likelihood of
that is slim.

This is where this bug crosses into bug 44128 territory, ie. LO should
regenerate the default files, and not throw an error (but should still notify
the user, since something bad happened before, and the slim chance of figuring
out what had gone wrong should still be kept).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138175] New: Writer maxes out CPU core when table has dotted/dashed borders

2020-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138175

Bug ID: 138175
Summary: Writer maxes out CPU core when table has dotted/dashed
borders
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: peter...@gmail.com

Description:
When I create a table and set the border line style to "Dotted", pressing Tab
to step through table cells and then create new table rows, LO-Writer becomes
increasingly slow and unusable.

Changing the border line style back to "Solid", or to "None" works around the
problem. I've not tried all the line styles, but certainly "Dotted" and
"Dashed" exhibited this problem.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice Writer
2. Insert a table - I use the tool-bar icon, and insert (say) 4 x 4, but I
don't think size is particularly part of the problem
3. Right click the table and choose Table Properties...
4. Click the Borders tab, change the Line Style to "dotted" (it's the second
one down, underneath the default "solid"), and click OK to close the Table
Properties dialog
5. With the cursor in any of the table cells, press tab. Keep pressing tab
until it starts adding new rows - cursor movement will slow and a CPU core will
be running at/near 100%

Actual Results:
LO-Writer becomes increasingly slow as Tab is pressed and table rows are added.

Expected Results:
Should perform the same as with border line style None or Solid which work
perfectly.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

In all those renderings, the two-dots and the shadda don't overlap. They may be

Here is a screenshot of how Arial font is shown in Window's own font previewer,

different "facets" of the same font, in this case from top to bottom, Regular,
Italic, Bold, Bold Italic, and Black.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 134226] Arabic diacritics misplaced when "fall-back" font is used

2020-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134226

First, I can reproduce both the problematic rendering like the screenshot in
attachment 162301 and the "workaround" mentioned in comment 3 (choose text,
re-assign font Arial, the rendering becomes correct) with 6.4.7 on Windows:
Version: 6.4.7.2 (x64)
Build ID: 639b8ac485750d5696d7590a72ef1b496725cfb5
CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: zh-CN (zh_CN); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

Second, I question Eyal's judgement that this is caused by fall-back font. Not
that I know any Arabic myself, but to my layman's eyes, the Arabic is rendered
very similarly on my Windows as Eyal's screenshot, and Eyal says:

(In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #8)
> By the way, perhaps I should mention I also
> have the X font cache look at a Windows installation's font directory; and I
> have a few fonts I've installed myself (not Arial of course).
But any Windows installation should have Arial font installed. So I checked my
Arial font, it does contain Arabic glyphs, and they look just like how the
sample document is rendered in LO (and Eyal's screenshot).

I therefore contend that this has nothing to do with fall-back font, but about
rendering of Arial font when it's used by default (instead of by direct
formatting).

I'll take this as it is something that is able to utilize effort made to ensure

current code specific for draw objects name uniqueness in Writer should be able
to be removed. It works the same across all modules.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122710] PRINT DIALOG: For "Pages to print" field interpret space as separator for a list of distinct pages to print

I would like:
1. Separators: ',' ';'
2. Range specifiers: '-' ':'
3. Allow half defined ranges
4. Also allow space as separator, but only if directly surrounded by numbers,
otherwise ignore it. This is, because space is commonly used as separator or
just after ',' or ';', but maybe don't officially mention space as separator in
the short tooltip.

Examples:
1:3 5 print pages 1, 2, 3, 5
1,3 5 print pages 1, 3, 5
1 3-5 print pages 1, 3, 4, 5
1 3 5 print pages 1, 3, 5
1, 3, 5 print pages 1, 3, 5(ignore spaces)
1 3 - 5 print pages 1, 3, 4, 5 (ignore spaces except 1st)
1 3;5print pages 1, 3, 5(ignore first space, so the 2nd remains
surrounded by numbers)
 -3 print pages 1, 2, 3(ignore first space, start range at 1)
1 ; 3 - print pages 1, 3, ... (ignore spaces, complete range up to last
page)

Main rule: If the definition seems semantically ambiguous, never waste paper
for possibly unwanted pages. the user can always do a 2nd run if pages are
missing.

2020-11-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138174

Bug ID: 138174
Summary: Trouble reading preferences menu on Mac
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice

  Reporter: erw...@alumni.beloit.edu

Created attachment 167245

Screen shot of LibreOffice Preferences

There's something weird going on with text rendering, especially in the
preferences menu.

I have trouble reading that in MacOS, and have a migraine from trying to read
that.

Using Libreoffice 6.4.6.2 in MacOS 10.14.6, with Tinkertool to enforce "Old
Style" font rendering, with a Benq GW2280 at 0% brightness, 30% contrast, 20%
red, 30% green, 20% blue. I am sensitive to bright light, so I need to reduce
screens below 0%, and am sensitive to strobing and animation, so I need to
reduce red more than green.

I'm sorry for giving you bad news.
Doc is a Microsoft's file extention. That means you're rewriting in the file
the formula as microsoft's formula code and after reimporting it. You wont
never get the same results. In best case scenario you get something with the
same meaning.

That doesn't contradict what I said.

There are other possible solutions, such as:

* Context-sensitivity only causes appearance, never disappearance.
* Different-scope setting: Global, per-app, per-document, per-page, per session
(of running an LO app)
* Widget for temporarily "locking" the toolbar layout from any changes

etc

At least a connection can now be made using sh2. This problem appears to be
solved. However, there is still the problem with making a connection using the
older method (native password). Obviously, a different Pb.I am happy with this
much.

Why? When you are disabling the context-sensitivity of a toolbar then it
doesn't pop up.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138173] Find and Replace dialog default should other options be closed

In BUG 129629 comment 4 is written, that the default setting for Search and
Replace dialog should be collapsed.

As there is one checkbox selected expand is the default setting. As
Diacritic-sensitive is in addition not that easy to understood, I suggest to
change the checkbox behavior (off by default) so that the Search and Replace
dialog will be collapsed by default.

As Diacritic-sensitive was selected the Other Options expander is always on. I
suggest to change the Diacritic-sensitive options that way that the checkbox is
not selected by default and the Find & Replace dialog was shown by default in
