[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138761] New: Writer table sum feature doesn't insert formula in empty cell at bottom of selected column range
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138761 Bug ID: 138761 Summary: Writer table sum feature doesn't insert formula in empty cell at bottom of selected column range Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.6.2 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: amiable...@yahoo.com Description: In Calc can sum a column at least two ways: #1 select cell at bottom of column of numbers and click Sum button at left of Input line. Contiguous range above selected cell is selected. =sum() in input line. Click green check and formula is entered in selected cell. #2 select column of numbers and empty cell beneath column. Click sum button. =sum() appears immediately in empty cell. No need to confirm. For both methods =sum() formula is inserted in empty cell In Writer if attempt to sum column similar to #1 above then after inserting cursor in empty cell range to be summed must be selected after clicking sum button. And then must click green check to complete summing operation. If range to sum is selected and end of selection is empty cell presumed to be destination for sum formula then sum button clicked selected range is emptied and Input line appears with =sum() formula with third-to-last selected cell loaded as range of formula. Clicking check to enter formula causes 0 to be entered in last cell, value in second-to-last cell to again be visible, and value in third-to-last cell and any cells above to be empty. This is very unexpected behavior. Especially if one is familiar with either method of summing described for Calc. Request Writer table cell sum feature be modified to work like descriptions provided for Calc. Alternately, request Writer table cell sum feature be modified so that if range is selected prior to clicking sum button then sum is entered in last cell of selected range vs current behavior of emptying range. Steps to Reproduce: 1. create a multi row table in Writer 2. enter numbers in a column in the table, leave at least one empty row beneath last number 3. select column of numbers and empty cell beneath 4. click Sum button on table toolbar 5. after clicking Sum button all selected cells are empty 6. click green check mark next to =sum formula in input line 7. all except last two cells that were selected are now empty. Last cell has 0 entered. Next to last cell has number that was there before Sum button was clicked. Actual Results: The result cell value is set to 0 (zero). The cell above the result cell returns to its original value. All cells above these last two cells have been emptied. Expected Results: Selecting column of numbers then clicking sum button should sum the numbers and enter result in last selected cell. Summing cells should work way it works in Calc. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 92857] HTML Filter: Embedded images before tables breaks layout of tables
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92857 --- Comment #7 from QA Administrators --- Dear Bob Miller, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone! [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138760] New: Mail Merge does not find the source data when I go back into the document.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138760 Bug ID: 138760 Summary: Mail Merge does not find the source data when I go back into the document. Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.0.3.1 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: moonovermyspa...@protonmail.com Description: I have created a Mail Merge Document with a data source of an *.ods spreadsheet. When I go back into the document after saving it I am unable to scroll through my mail merge documents to see each individual and then when I go to the Data Sources I get an error that says "the connection to the data sources cannot be established". Then I tried to go back through the Mail Wizard to link to the Data Source but it will then create a new data source with the same name as above but with a 1 behind it. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138759] New: DRAW - multipage file refuses to save after multiple edits between saves, requests password that was never set
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138759 Bug ID: 138759 Summary: DRAW - multipage file refuses to save after multiple edits between saves, requests password that was never set Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.0.3.1 release Hardware: All OS: Mac OS X (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Draw Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ipla...@tuta.io Description: I often prepare patent drawings in Draw. These drawings contain multiple A4 sheets/pages, more often than not all portrait orientation, occasionally landscape. Each page comprises at least one inserted image file, often SVG, or PNG, or TIFF. Each image is annotated with numbering (text box) and a free-floating Bezier curve tail, leading from a feature of the image to the numbering text box. The text box font size is 18 pt. The Bezier curve freehand floating tail is coloured black, and set to either 0.30 mm width thickness in the properties dialog of the object, or else to 0.8 pt in the sidebar. Entering a multiple, repeat sequence of actions involving: - adding a Bezier curve - changing Bezier curve colour to black - changing Bezier curve thickness to 0.8 pt - adding a text box number, usually by copy/paste from and adjacent text box number - attempting to save the ODG file causes an error message to be displayed first that the file can not be saved (read/write error), and second that the password, which has never been set on the file, is incorrect. It becomes impossible to save any of the changes made. Copying the pages to a new Draw file, or attempting "Save as" also leads to the same read/write error message. Closing the file without saving causes the changes made to be lost. Tested on LibreOffice Vanilla Version: 7.0.3.2 Build ID: d7547858d014d4cf69878db179d326fc3483e082 CPU threads: 8; OS: Mac OS X 10.15.7; UI render: default; VCL: osx Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR.UTF-8); Langue IHM : fr-FR Testing on a current production version of TDF LO leads to the same read/write error message, without the password error message, but the result is the same, impossible to save the changes made. The only workaround I have found so far is to save after each and every change of attribute, addition of object, etc, which is extremely tedious. This behaviour represents a regression over previous versions of LO where this behaviour did not manifest itself. Calc: threaded Steps to Reproduce: See description above. Actual Results: Impossible to save multiple changes to Draw file, leading to data loss as the file must be closed and reopened in order to continue editing. Expected Results: No read/write error should occur, the changes should be saved, and work should be able to continue as normal. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Neither OpenGL is enabled nor Skia. These are both disabled by default in the MacOS versions of LO. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138758] New: Find and replace is too coupled between documents
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138758 Bug ID: 138758 Summary: Find and replace is too coupled between documents Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.0.2.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: luke.kend...@gmail.com While waiting for the ability to search for styles to be implemented, I'm resorting to finding by attribute in one document, to find all text of a specific character style in a copied document, so I can set the style correctly. I'm in the process of making the smaller paperback edition of my book (with a smaller font size throughout). (Incidentally, this task was made harder because the user defined character style information was not copied from one document into the other.) However, finding each use of my user defined character style is made especially tedious because using F with specific attributes (font size 10 in my case) in the source document also turns that F option on in the F panel in the copied document. This means when I search in the copied document for the text I found by attribute in the source document, you can't find it, because the copied document has no text with that attribute, and the F panel in the copied document switches mode when you change it in the source document. So you have to: 1) click No Format in the copied doc F, 2) enter some of the found text to search for in the copied doc 3) find the text and set the attribute, 4) then go back to the source document and click in its F panel 5) clear the text from the Find area because the search in the copied-doc wiped out the text entered in the Find field in the source doc F Find field (That 'Find text' can either be no text, which is unreliable; or ".*" and regexp enabled which is less unreliable) 6) click on the Format button in the F panel in the source doc and navigate through to choose the format you're after 7) find the next piece of text with that format 8) Repeat steps 1-7 for every piece of text with the user-defined character style in the source document. It's a massive usability failure. Especially because defining and using a character style makes the F unreliable. It seems to find random pieces of text with that format, and fail to find others. Nor does the pattern of success and failure to find text by format seem to relate to direct formatting. Not unless DF can creep in via even more operations than I'm aware of. I also note that DF is nowhere fully described or explained in the user guides. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

However, I think it'll be a long time before we see the Keyboard tab redesigned. I think that, for now, giving better function names and eliminating duplicates is a quick short term solution. The most difficult part would be to define new names for these functions. I could try to propose some names and share here for other to comment on. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134747 --- Comment #4 from foxtrot --- Aha... I understand, what you mean, but I don't agree. It's in both cases far from text processing. Names and - in my case - song titles in a table are both "data" of the type "character". Your example of "von der Lippe" is to be solved by an additional column for "von der" - a prefix that isn't relevant for sorting. I do something similar in another table with movie titles, where I have a column for the article at the beginning of a movie title, that is not relevant for sorting (the sixth sense, the italian job...) (and I even do some calculation there... sure not with the names). But both Flemish family names and song titles can't be parted like this or cleared in another useful way but considering only letters.
