Me neither anymore. When I tried first Calc sorted differently to Writer with
PB-mode enabled. Anyway, if this mode would take spaces into consideration I
imagine it's a solution to both issues and a valuable enhancement. But feel

Thanks for clarification. I tested with the wrong dialog. My results
in = Indonesia (expected)
iw = he (not expected)

Expected result:
Perhaps like behaviour in Tools => Options => Language Settings => Languages:
typing iw gives result Walloon (because there is no language with iw at the

Here it the thing I objected to. The phrase "the date field should never force
either capitalisation or non-capitalisation unless the user wishes so, in which
case he must turn on spell-checker with grammar option" implies that the
spell-checker would somehow suggest and/or change capitalization of the date
field text. But *that* will not happen, because field data is not spell-checked
in any way. From spell checked point of view, a field is some kind of external
object, like image. Its content is not something that user types freely, and is
calculated automatically from some source data. Thus an expectation that spell
checker would do something instead of the field itself is wrong. Thus some
method of capitalization *must* be embedded into the field, or else user will
have no way to control that (just the same way as it it now, only the opposite
direction: when one wants capitalization, that would be impossible).

Just for clarification: You use a standard template with 100% zoom and two
pages displayed next to each other (book view I assume). And you expect hta
tevery document created with this standard template behaves this way, correct?

Attached document has doc-format. So I assume youcrreated it with your default
template "Normal" and saved it as doc-file, correct? Does ist happen with every
file you save as doc or only with this specific one?

I hope having not been misunderstood.

In my previous comment i meant that in whatever language capitalisation is a
matter of grammar. Thus the date field should never force either capitalisation
or non-capitalisation unless the user wishes so, in which case he must turn on
spell-checker with grammar option.

Even though in English day names must be capitalised, not everyone like to do
so. Libreoffice should allow users to turn off auto-capitalisation for the date
field, or whatever other field with similar concern.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138797] Impress OTP file grows hugely embedding fonts

2020-12-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #1)
> Mike: any thoughts here or any idea who may help here?

In Writer, unchecking this gives the expected result. I would start with
debugging the difference; maybe the m_bTryToEmbedFonts gets "true" somehow when
the option is unchecked in the form? maybe the properties do not modify the
correct setting (e.g., affect an embedded document instead of main ODB)?

To clarify: what I feel being *wrong* in your proposal is the *not* in the "it
should probably not be a feature in the submenu 'Format - Character'". It could
be OK if you re-phrase it as "it should probably not only be a feature in the
submenu 'Format - Character'".

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138810] New: Libre Office Draw: OCR text jump to front of image

2020-12-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138810

Bug ID: 138810
Summary: Libre Office Draw: OCR text jump to front of image
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ajku...@gmail.com

Description:
I am using Libre Office Version: 7.0.1.2 Build ID: 00(Build:2) CPU threads: 2;
OS: Linux 4.15; UC:\fakepath\Sample-raster-OCRmypdf-pdf.odfI render: default;
VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-IN (en_IN); UI: en-US Ubuntu package version:
1:7.0.1_rc2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 Calc: threaded

I noted that whenever I open a pdf file made of image + OCR in Libre Office
Draw for editing the last most text/or text in a line/ or complete text on a
page on every page is visible above the image. This cause lot of problem if I
am working with 100s of pages. I have to select image on every page and move it
to front.

I further noted in my system I scanned image using HP deskjet 1050 scanner
using Xsane.:
(Condition-1) If I open this image for editing in Gimp or okular and ocr
resulting pdf. The resultant pdf show problem as described above.
(Condition-2) If I just OCR my scanned pdf file(without editing with any other
siftware) and then open resulting file in Libre Office Draw it shows such
issues.
I also downloaded .pdf with OCR files from various websites and found similar
problem as described above.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. take a image or .pdf file open it with okular/ gimp and print it as .pdf
file using option force rasterization.
2. ocr resulting .pdf file using any ocr software in my case ocrmypdf.
3. open resulting .pdf file in Libre Office Draw. Any of the ocr text will be
visible above the image.
4. export .pdf from Libre Office Draw. the resulting .pdf will also have same
issue.

Actual Results:
The ocr text must be on back of image as it was in source pdf. But opened file
and resulting .pdf both have any of the ocr text visible on front of the image.

Expected Results:
The ocr text must be on back of image as it was in source pdf.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Again, please provide sample document in addition to screenshot if you want QA
people who don't use Sanskrit to help you on this bug.

As you can see, my screenshot with 7.0.2 has none of the problems you
mentioned.

Version 7.0.3.1 has serious drawbacks compared to 6.4.7.2

We finally got a pc to install LibreOffice 7.0.3.1

Our Observations
1. Typo Ascender is fixed, and the diacritics are no longer chopped off.

However
2. The diacritic no longer attaches to the base glyph. The geometric shape
dotted circle is always seen.

3. For some diacritics already present on the keyboard, it attaches, but most
of our diacritics are typed using INSERT SPECIAL Character, and then it does
not attach at all. This means we can no longer use LibreOffice 7.0.3.1 to type
Sanskrit documents. (Version 6.4.7.2 is still being used to type Sanskrit for
documents where certain diacritics are not needed).

4. Language SA Sanskrit(India).

Our Observations.
1. The Typo Ascender is fixed, and the diacritics are no longer chopped off.

However
2. The geometric shape dotted circle keeps showing up. That means the diacritic
no longer attaches to the base glyph when we do
a) Insert Special Character.
b) For a few special characters that are directly present on the standard
keyboard, the diacritic attaches to the base glyph.

3. In 6.4.7.2 the geometric shape is not shown, and the diacritic attaches to
the base glyph, with chopped character.

4. Please give a good thought to it as this is not a fix at all.

5. Language SA Sanskrit(India).

Dear Frederic Parrenin,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87964] FILESAVE: Line type - Stepped in Chart saved in XLS / XLSX as Smooth (comment 17)

2020-12-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87964

Dear Hannes,

This might be a windows 10 version issue. Otherwise, I cannot explain why you
dont't see the same behavior.

>If I disable Options --> Load/Save --> General --> Load user-specific setting,
>the document is always opened with the currently used Zoom-level or with the
>last used zoom-level, if writer is not open

Not for me:
1. Options --> Load/Save --> General --> Load user-specific setting = disabled
2. Opened another writer document (it's opened with 100% zoom & 2 pages are
displayed next to each other, as it should be and as my standard template view
is saved), closed writer --> this works and is valid for all my writer
documents
3. Just not for one: if I then download the attached usecase document and open
it via doubleclick, it's opened with 120% zoom and only one page is displayed
on my screen

The only difference of the used documents within File > Properties
- attached use case document shows Template: "Normal[ ]"
- all other documents show Template: " "

BTW: I don't need to close writer. Use case document always opens with 120%
zoom for me while all my other documents open with 100% zoom in parallel as it
should be.

With "standard view" I meant that I saved the default page style template while
viewing a document with 100% and 2 pages next to each other.

Sad to hear such absolutely non-substantiated decision. Thanks' to such
decisions it becomes very hard to tempt somebody to stay with Libreoffice.

In our company will find better use for money booked for donation to
Libreoffice this year.

That's why I said we need (if we want to keep explicit "TB AB" support instead
of using ODBC with some "random" datasource which happens to be sqlite and the
TB AB) some way to "plumber" LO with a sqlite ODBC driver. (That one imho also
can just happen to be on the system imho, if the stuff failed gracefully and
tells the user what to do "install SQLIte ODBC driver")

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138806] New: Drag and drop in Impress stop working after a few minutes

2020-12-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138806

Bug ID: 138806
Summary: Drag and drop in Impress stop working after a few
minutes
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.3.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: b...@uic.edu

Description:
I can drag and drop slides and reorder them in the slide view on the left.

After a few minutes of using impress, I can't reorder anything, and even moving
objects around is buggy.

That's an issue I've had for years occasionally and usually restart impress to
make it work again. But with bigger documents it starts to be painful to do
that all the time.

It happens on several machines.

WM: Gnome Wayland 3.38.2
Distribution: Archlinux (up to date this week)
LibreOffice version: 7.0.3.1

I've seen it on Fedora on a laptop as well (same thing, using Gnome wayland).

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Drag and drop slides on the view on the left
2. Use impress for some time
3. Try to drag and drop slides again.

Actual Results:
Can't drag and drop anymore.

The icon that appears when drag and dropping usually doesn't appear either.

I've noticed that when the bug starts showing up, I have issues moving objects
as well, for example sliding text blocks.

Expected Results:
Impress should behave exactly like when it is freshly started (drag and drop
working)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en (tried with fr as well)
Module: PresentationDocument
OS: Linux (All)
OS is 64bit: yes

Interestingly enough, although Clear Direct Formatting does not remove manually
inserted page breaks or manually added page breaks as format, it does re-add
manually removed page breaks if the paragraph style originally had a page break
and then the break was removed from the Format > Paragraph dialog.

There may be more if people use Sqlite ODBC to use their TB address book.

Do you mean to access TB address book by:
- using current entry (but behind the curtain there would need some
"plumbering" to use SQLite ODBC - don't know it's feasible and/or not too
difficult, just for the record, I wouldn't be able to implement this)
or
- using ODBC entry explicitely (and removing current TB address book entry) and
so add help in addition to release notes to advertise that to use TB addresse
book, you'll got to use ODBC

That's fast!! :-) I agree with removing Mork but first I would like Lionel's

So, the conclusion is reduce working space to get visible all the nice stuff in
sidebar. Sounds like programming for programmers, like somebody using
alternative office is doing programming for libreoffice, which he/she is not
using and do not considers that somebody else is really using it.

Besides, about half of vertical area in sidebar is not used in Properties and
some other views and horizontal space is used very inefficiently, e.g. in Page
view.
To my understanding more work space should be prioritized instead of continuous
visibility of all the stuff in the sidebar. I don't understand this discussion,
somebody made mistake and it should be corrected.

Of course, I can survive without sidebar, I'm already closing it, because it is
not possible to work in Writer with sidebar on, but it was really nice addition
in Libreoffice and it is still nice in alternative products. I'm using
star/open/libreoffice since 199x and I will continue to use it and pay annual
donations, but it would be nice not to propose mistakes as innovations.

Wow that is kind of a misstatement of fact. There is almost no difference in
control width layout between the 6.4 and 7.0 releases.

Otherwise users on Linux are pretty much unaffected by UI scaling, and those on
Windows are only affected when they have scaled their UI above about 150%.

If you do not like the Sidebar deck showing, collapse it to the Tab bar or use
the 'Hide'/'Show' thumbs to fully collapse--or close the Sidebar completely.
Perhaps use one of the MUFFIN layouts--the 'Single Contextual' with the Sidbar
collapsed is rather functions.

What os/DE and scaling are you working with?

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138259

Than the question is why it behaves different on my system.

I just rechecked the bug, changed Tools>Language>For all Text>English (USA)
Again, Germany disappears in all Language lists and English (USA) is set as
default language under Tools>Options>Languages>Default Language for
Documents>Western

This time and set is new for me clothing LibO Writer and start Writer new or
using File>New>Text Document resets the Default Language for Western back to
German.
But also new to me is that German in the languages lists (Tools Languages) does
sometimes not simply disappears but in some cases get replaced by other
languages like Sami, Northern (Norway) and Sorbian, Upper. None of those
languages are installed on my system.
