[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139713] UI Footnote/endnote settings dialog caption

2021-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139713

I disagree.

“Footnotes and Endnotes Settings” ⤔ first, in English you don’t pluralize
adjectival constructions, just the noun. Then, the conjunction “and” implies
you are modifying settings for both kinds of notes, when in actuality settings
apply to both kinds and you may have only one kind of notes in your document,
so the slash works better there. Third, this is much longer and will take more
space in localized versions of the software. Fourth, this creates more churn
for localizers and documenters.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 138220] calc: calculation: roundup: rounddown: fail in 7.1 alpha

2021-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=138220

@erAck: yes, but '=ROUNDUP(-999,13;11)' shouldn't end in
-999,1310 either... right? but it does :-(

and it's not just 'display string', see:

=RAWSUBTRACT(ROUNDUP(-999,13;11);-999,13) -> -0,001000444172

vs.:

'=RAWSUBTRACT(-999,13;-999,13)' -> 0,

and:

'=RAWSUBTRACT(ROUND(-999,13;2);-999,13)' -> 0,

there are two distinct issues:

1. the patch by @Winfried Donkers -
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/69762 - disables accuracy for values
with more than 12 significant digits, such is a very questionable strategy, i
would suggest to undo the patch and fix the errors in the elementary functions
instead (roundsig and subtraction)),

2. something injects a small deviation into these calculations, imho it starts
with roundsig being inaccurate, see:

'=RAWSUBTRACT(ROUNDSIG(-999,13;12);-999,13)' -> -0,11368684

('RoundSignificant( fX, 12, fRes );' is used in the patch)

Just tested again:
(1.) The Skia option has no influence on the rendering of the logo.
(2.) The anti-aliasing option has some influence, but does not fix it:

- Without anti-aliasing, the logos are sharp, but pixelated (low-res).
- With anti-aliasing, the logos are still pixelated (low-res), but also blurry
and no longer sharp.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131025] Writer document with tables lost data in cells (apparently) replacing with 0

2021-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131025

Still problem in 7.0.4.2 - table cell values change to "0" after a save &
reload cycle.

However, the problem seems to be only with tables that have a Table Style
applied and/or those that have cell format applied. Plain "vanilla" tables with
unedited formatting are saved as expected.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open a new Writer document
2. Insert a table (3x4)
3. Populate cells with some text (e.g. A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, ...)
4. Save & Reload
* PASS: all OK

5. Apply "Elegant" Table Style to the table
6. Save & Reload
* FAIL: this time cells that were not blank were saved as "0" (apart from the
values in first row & first column which were preserved in my case).

7. Edit the cells again
8. Save & Reload
* PASS: after re-editing the values it was saved as expected

9. Now apply another ("Financial") style to the table
10. Save & Reload
* FAIL: the cells are again forced to "0" (again, all apart from the first row
& the first column).

Note that when this happens, the original data is lost since the affected cells
are saved with '0' as the value. The worrying thing is that even a backup file
won't help much because this happens silently. This means, the user may not be
even aware that parts of the document (some table cells) have been silently
replaced with zeros until the next time she/he is going through all the tables
in the affected document.

Just thinking - shouldn't LO at least warn that there was a problem with
converting values (text to number in the above case), I don't feel this should
be allowed to happen silently without some sort of warning - imagine this
happens to a commercial document, an invoice, terms sheet, etc.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Description:
When opening a spreadsheet in CALC, all words are underlined in red as if wrong
in the spell check.
You can do a manual spell check, then the respective cell looks correct
afterwards. However, after re-opening the file the same picture shows up again.
The automatic spell check does not seem to work properly (it does work still in
Version 7.0.4!)

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a spreadsheet with text included in cells
2. You will find every word marked as "wrong" (underlined in red) by the
automatic spell check.
3. You can do a manual spell check, which works properly. The respctive cells
lools ok afterwards.
4. but after saving / re-opening the file all words are marked again as wrong
(all tested in German version)

Actual Results:
with automatic spell check enabled, all words are marked as incorrect

Expected Results:
Automatic spell check should recognize words written correctly as correct.

Are you sure?

I reported bug 136633 with very similar symptom. There, for the logo in About
dialog at least, the pixelation is directly related to the anti-aliasing

Crispy sharp logo pictures :)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I use classic (non-OpenCL, non-Skia) rendering without anti-aliasing, but those
options don't seem to influence the logo's appearance anyway.

I have no clue how people managing enabling/disabling borders.. I surely use
the border picker.. and I surely get frustrated

So for me it's not 'trivial'/ bike-shedding. I survive, but keeps being
annoying.
But depends if you use tables (A) & (B) configure borders manually (or
template). (C) how often this occurs).

Disabling borders I like pretty common (see templates). Different border
settings also.

The third state is not totally 'superfluous'. At least, click an existing
border (single) (selected). And change formatting (does work).. If it word the
whole cycling third borders is different question..

The major problem, you can't move to any other 'border'.. The new formatting is
'new setting'. So every border selected subsequentially will be reformatted.
This is a feature (and a bug) at the same time :-(

In Atlantis Word processor and Word this works differently (screencast).
So 'uncoupling' formatting border settings and actually applying the formatting
already an improvement. Except there still the issue that you can't see the
'current border formatting settings'

So CTRL+CLICK Border showing current. And direct click adjust? [Atlantis
doesn't handle this case either; nor does Word]

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140148] New: Some dialogs disappear if the main window loses focus and this renders LO unusable with some mouse focus policies

2021-02-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140148

Bug ID: 140148
Summary: Some dialogs disappear if the main window loses focus
and this renders LO unusable with some mouse focus
policies
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dav1dblunk...@hotmail.com

Description:
The find and replace dialogs and the standard filter dialogs (and probably
others) vanish if another main LO window gets focused. This makes life very
hard for some desktop mouse policies (eg focus under mouse / focus follows
mouse).

For instance, I have several windows open including two or more LO windows and
the are not maximised. If I call up one of these dialogues it may appear
somewhere on the screen that does not overlap with my current LO window.

If this occurs I need to move the mouse from the LO window to the dialog to use
it. If the mouse crosses another LO window (which will momentarily get mouse
focus) the dialog disappears.

The way to rectify this is to either maximise the LO window (which is
irritating if you're trying to move information from document to document) or
create a stepping stone trail of non LO windows between the LO window and the
likely location of the dialog box.

It's infuriating.

Steps to Reproduce:
Choose an appropriate mouse focus policy: eg focus follow mouse.

Start two or more LO calc windows, position so that the dialog boxes will
appear not over the current LO window. Call up one of these transient dialogs.
Cross the other LO window with the mouse on the way to the dialog. The dialog
vanishes.

Actual Results:
 The dialog vanishes.

Expected Results:
The dialog shouldn't vanish or should somehow remain tethered to the original
LO window

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
no other information - I put linux only but this is really related to window
focus policy so affects all unixs but probably not mac or windows

tdf#139301 fix OOXML-compatible preset dash styles

Despite the purpose of the new interoperability styles
added in commit b2d8093b19642038631dfb8f1ab6745a380a652c
(tdf#127499 added 9 new line styles all are (var) and in line with MSO),
collision with commit 57c9bdab377a00649299d1a4c9ed2f9e5e03b84e
(tdf#127166, tdf#123903 improve import/export of line styles)
resulted still missing interoperability on the user interface:

1) opening an OOXML document, preset styles weren't recognized
on the UI, also the preview was a solid line on the Drawing
   Object Properties toolbar.

2) using the new compatibility preset styles, OOXML export
resulted custom styles instead of the intended preset styles.

On the UI, now the layout of the first 10 preset dash styles
follows the OOXML standard, see 20.1.10.49 ST_PresetLineDashVal
(Preset Line Dash Value) in ISO/IEC 29500-1, 2016:

dash patternname (OOXML name)
10 "Dot" (sysDot)
1000"Long Dot" (dot)
1110"Dash" (sysDash)
000 "Long Dash" (dash)
000 "Double Dash" (lgDash)
111010 "Dash Dot" (sysDashDot)
0001000 "Long Dash Dot (dashDot)
0001000 "Double Dash Dot" (lgDashDot)
11101010"Dash Dot Dot" (sysDashDotDot)
00010001000 "Double Dash Dot Dot" (lgDashDotDot)

Note: add missing "Dash Dot" (sysDashDot) and "Dash Dot Dot"
(sysDashDotDot).
Remove "Double Dot": it really wasn't an OOXML-compatible preset
style, and it has a good replacement among the older styles,
the similarly loosely dotted "Fine dotted", which is still
supported for back-compatibility.

Calc stops responding to keyboard, while mouse works normally. Happened 7 times
within 4 days. Keyboard works fine in other apps, and works after restarting
calc. If Calc has multiple windows open, there is no keyboard response in any
window. I looked for a modal dialog box, but did not see one. I assume a modal
box would block mouse input, but mouse input works. I also tried changing
focus via F6, Ctrl-F6, Esc, F10, to no avail.

We had this topic in the design meeting. Sascha thinks the default search
should be for values (having Benjamin-users in mind) with an option for
formulas (for the Eve's). And maybe rename "Values" into "Values and Results".

Since options are odd for the quickfind bar, I would think first about a
combined search. Meaning to find Values/Results, Content and Notes.

Had this topic in the design meeting.

Sascha thinks that "keep" makes no sense in many cases, e.g. edit single cell,
column, row. And consistent behavior would be: init off>on>off; init partial>on
all>off all.

Me smells bike-shedding, and while I neither see the benefit of the third state
there is/was likely a reason to introduce it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139735] "Links to External Files" is not precise

Sascha agrees and suggests "Externally Linked..." or "Linked Data and Files..."

We have
* Calc: .uno:InsertExternalDataSource "Link to E~xternal Data..."
* Draw/Impress: .uno:ManageLinks "Lin~ks to External Files..."
* Writer: .uno:LinkDialog "Lin~ks to External Files..."
+ cui/uiconfig/ui/baselinksdialog.ui is titled "Edit Links"

Streams are rather a corner case for Writer and DrawImpress but if "data" is
read similar to "file" we should harmonize according Calc.

Documentation under
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.0/en-US/text/shared/01/0218.html is
outdated.

Sascha commented the dialog has other label than menu entry, slash bad practice
for titles, and suggest naming dialog and menu entry to "Foot- and
Endnotes...".

Me agrees to "Footnotes and Endnotes Settings" (like the command is labelled)
but not to properties. Hyphen is as bad as slash.

Code pointer: sw/uiconfig/swriter/ui/footendnotedialog.ui

Sascha commented in the design meeting it could enhance workflow, but bug
128469 (terminology of Reset/Standard) has to be solved first.

However, Reset works only with hierarchically organized data and will be
changed to "Set to Parent". The F&E dialog is kind of global option and would
fit into tools > options > writer. If we add Reset it will behave as reset to
factory settings and rather add confusion than making dialogs more consistent.

Resolving WF, feel free to reopen
