Couple that with their being rather similar to each other, and they end up having the opposite of the intended effect: misdirecting your eye and increasing rather than decreasing the chance of clicking the wrong button. The similarity is partly due to how the bulk of the icon is a clipboard. I get the motivation of having the clipboard, but it does more good than harm, at least the way things stand right now. And I feel that you sort of need to know what the icon is supposed to mean before you can even guess what it means. I wonder if they weren't partially inspired by the MS Office paste-mode icons (see attachments). The latter are also not so great, but - they're in a narrow right-click menu, not a dialog; and the clipboard there seems lighter, less pronounced, relative to the indicators of the kind of pasting that goes on. I don't have an exact suggestion of what I would like to see, especially since there's also the text on the button which would need to move somewhere perhaps. Maybe push it down a bit, and have a "before" and "after" graphic with some arrow, better illustrating what changes in the paste? Anyway, the current state of this is suboptimal IMHO. I believe this may have been due to it auto-saving, and at the time my system was under a heavy load. I was processing some videos files in the software VidCoder, version 5.21. This may have been the moment when this corruption occurred to the file. After a short while Calc became responsive again. I was able to finish doing what I was doing and saved the file. However, whenever I have subsequently tried to open the file, Libre just goes blank and doesn't respond. I have left it in this state for a number of hours without any further progression. Looking online I learnt about changing the ods file to a zip, so as to gain access to the xml files and such. I have compared the content.xml file to another which was saved at an earlier date and was eventually able to pinpoint where the fault seems to lie. Under the Some had been changed to And some entries which didn't even exist in my older file had been added as I don't even know what these values are used for, but I thought I should make a report as the numbers may be an indicator of what has caused the problem. I wish people could enter data on this range (it remains scalable). So the cells from A1 to A3000 are not protected. I am using this named range in many formulas in my workbook (multiple sheets) My file contains a lot of sheets, a lot of named ranges, and a lot of formulas. The user must not be able to modify the formulas. I therefore protect all the cells to be protected, I also protect my entire binder. All of these protections are OK. Despite this, if a person goes to the "manage names" area, they can modify the range I created: either rename it (from "list" to "list", for example): it is not still very serious, and does not affect the results of the formulas. But they can also modify the range itself: (from A1: A3000 to A100: A300, for example). And there: the formulas will work, but all the results will be wrong, which is even worse. I've asked the community before, it doesn't appear that cell named range protection exists yet. It's easy for you to try on the example file that I upload: on this file, just go to the name box, and modify the length of the named range. despite all the protections I put on, you can do it ... and give false results. The total time taken is about 61 to 62 seconds. During this pause, the "Loading Document" status is shown at the bottom status area, and the accompanying progress bar does not fill. The Task Manager does not show any significant CPU activity. After the 60 seconds have passed, the file opens and Calc works fine. Even the simplest spreadsheet files show this behavior. The same files saved as .xlsx open without any pause. If my PC is disconnected from my wi-fi, the pause doesn't happen, .ods files open normally. Almost as if the 60 second pause is some sort of networking timeout. I've observed this behavior with two or three different v6.x.x.x releases. It was an issue for a period of weeks last year, but it went away without any specific action on my part. It has lately become a problem again. Steps to Reproduce: While connected to internet: 1. Open LibreOffice Calc 2. File -> Save As "slowfile.ods" 3. Close document 4. File -> Recent Documents -> "slowfile.ods" Actual Results: Calc re-opened "slowfile.ods" but took 60 seconds to do so. Expected Results: Calc should have re-opened "slowfile.ods" in a second or two. Latest Version and Build 7.05.2 (x64)) I have a spread sheet which I use to record 'sensitive information' using LibreOffice Calc I put a (complex) password on the file. (But did not encrypt it... not that sensitive!) I use Windows 10 Back up and Restore to back up selected files (eg Documents) on a Seagate USB Extension Drive, have done for years. There is an option on Windows 10 Back Up and Restore and Record "File History" It has a recommendation in Windows B/U to select this option. I did that (have done for ages also). It saves all revisions of any file modified... to the same drive during the Back Up process. Once the back up is complete .. the back up file appears to be encrypted and not readable. However the "File History is not". If you take the extension drive to ANY computer and plug it in a usb port, you can find ALL of the File History Data on the Extension Drive. If you have a suitable application (In my case my wife's laptop also has LibreOffice Installed) CLICK on any one of them (including the very last one (most recent). Its possible to OPEN that file in Read Only mode... displaying all of the data without any request for a password whatsoever! It is also possible to change the settings in this file to allow updates and changes which cannot overwrite the file on the extension drive but can be saved under a new name in a New Location or E Mailed /Printed etc. I wrote also to Microsoft .. it may be their problem got a rather terse reply and a form to fill up.. not expecting any interest there! I discovered this by accident when my desktop got damaged by water.. I simply plugged the extension drive into my wife's laptop.. used Windows Explorer to search the Extension drive for my files.. there were many .. I clicked on the latest one (all had dates shown in the File Name). To my surprise LibreOffice on her machine Opened the file without any password request.. and I could view all the Data. Not sure of your definition of a "Vulnerability" but I see a number of ways to obtain sensitive information using any kind of approach. Even "The Cloud" doesn't seem secure if anyone can do this? After taking a closer look at the Help file for CONVERT (link below), I believe there's a lot of room for improvement. https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060116.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3148446 For instance, the table with unit symbols could be replaced by the tables in the wiki containing the actual names of all measurement units. A few more examples could be added to the Help, specially those using prefixes. Also, the binary prefixes in the Help should be displayed as tables. My only concern is that, if we implement all of this, the CONVERT section in this help page will be much longer that all the other functions combined. Keep in mind that this help page also covers other functions as well. To overcome this issue, my suggestion is to create a separate help page for CONVERT, as is the case for many other functions as IMCOSH, IMCOT, etc. All of them are listed in 04060116.xhp but have their own help pages. Re-installing LibreOffice didn't help. Bug affects every file, even created prior to the bug. Files are spreasheets we share as friends. The spreadsheet was created on another computer, then downloaded by the person who encounters the bug. The bug does not affect the other persons using spreadsheets downloaded from same source file. Bug appeared a bit ago, with no obvious cause (no major change in using habits). What happens is : each time the spreadsheet is closed, then opened again, the spaces in the input help tooltip box are doubled. Manually modifying the input help text doesn't affect bug : the next time the sheet is closed and reopened, the spaces are doubled. (first time reporting a libre office bug.
