Confirmed with Word 2016 - in page Properties, there is no ability to set
shading for a section. It only applies to text or paragraph.

Also confirmed that if I use LO to set a section colour, the colour is lost on
DOC and DOCX export - which just re-confirms that those formats don't have an
option for section shading. NOTABUG.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142490] New: Impress animations panel only partially visible

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142490

Bug ID: 142490
Summary: Impress animations panel only partially visible
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tonio.ta...@gmail.com

Description:
LibreOffice 7.0.4.2 on KDE Neon, screen LCD 1024x768 (old).

The lower part of animations panel is only partially visible, so it's
impossible to select many animations or set the options. The only workaround to
select animation is to undock the panel, select and dock again.

The only way to set the options is to use the right button menu on the
animation.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select an object
2.Add animation
3.

Actual Results:
The lower part of animations panel is only partially visible, so it's
impossible to select many animations or set the options.

Expected Results:
Animations panel would be totally visible using the scroll bar.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
In the 6.4 version the panel was correctly displayed.

Dear tmacalp,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

I guess I know one reason. Let’s examine the example from this post using
pdfinfo. We see:
Encrypted: yes (print:yes copy:yes change:no addNotes:no algorithm:RC4)
2/3 of my financial statements received from credit card companies and banks
have this encryption level and are also encrypted with blank passwords. When
addNotes is no, Adobe Reader, which is the standard for all financial
businesses, does not support annotations in these PDFs. Of course, it is a
funny protection, but security departments need their food.

No need to delete the series to reproduce the crash - only inserting series is
enough.

So, the steps are:

1. Insert chart in Writer, change chart type to Stock Chart 1.
2. Go to Data Table.
4. Click "Insert Series" icon on the Data Table toolbar.

-> Crash.

And this is why the UITest test_stock_chart13_insert_series fails on my system,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142489] New: Do not display "Table" toolbar by default in Impress

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142489

Bug ID: 142489
Summary: Do not display "Table" toolbar by default in Impress
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com

Created attachment 172340
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=172340=edit
Table toolbar: move to sidebar when table selected

In Impress, when the user inserts a table (or when he/she clicks on an existing
table), the default behavior is to enable the "Table" toolbar at the bottom.
The problem with this is that, when the toolbar is displayed, the slide is
moved up, and then when the table is deselected, the slide moves back down.

I don't consider this to be a smooth experience, because when the user clicks
something and the slide position changes, then whatever is beneath the mouse
pointer changes and the user has to move the mouse again to where he/she was
actually interested. Also, when the slide requires constantly clicking a table
and contents outside the table, this moving up and down becomes annoying.

So, I would like to suggest simply disabling this default behavior. So, when
the user inserts or selects a table, this toolbar remains hidden (unless the
user manually enables it by going to View > Toolbars > Table).

This won't cripple functionality, since all the buttons from the toolbar are
already available in the "Table" tab (except for the "Delete Table" button,
that could be added to the tab).

Another possibility would be to move the commands in the Table toolbar to the
sidebar, above the Table Design section (see attached image).

ExtTextOutW record with Aleph/Bet/Gimel/Dalet has ETO_GLYPH_INDEX set.

As per [MS-EMF] spec:
"This bit indicates that the codes for characters in an output text string are
indexes of the character glyphs in a TrueType font.
Glyph indexes are font-specific, so to display the correct characters on
playback,
the font that is used MUST be identical to the font used to generate the
indexes."

That could be probably supported by using HarfBuzz' hb_font_glyph_to_string()
or FreeType's FT_Get_Glyph_Name() to "convert encoding".

(Kudos to Behdad for pointing to the right APIs).

Fwiw, having the form listbox selection events call recalcul() and also the

upon loading the document as form events are fired asynchronously, which makes

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81757] Calculations order do not follow cell dependencies

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81757

The moment you observed Err:522 you should had gotten suspicious.. the culprit
is the macro that while it has a CalculateHard running that calculates
BENDALLOWANCE() that modifies the cell content of J12, which for the current
view area triggers a find for changed values and calculates formula cells that
are set "dirty" (i.e. to be recalculated), which then for F8 wants to obtain
the result of F7 that currently is already running, hence the circular
reference.

0. best do not try such dirty tricks as modifying cell content in a formula
cell's macro function. It may work or may not and may have side effects you
aren't aware of. As seen.

1. take such Err:522 circular reference error serious if you do such thing and
not expect it (i.e. the formula cells and the cell references they use are not
circular); just switching on iterations to workaround and suppress it may just
hide the cause and fool you with an unexpected result. As seen.

2. if you feel brave and want to do such nasty things anyway then switch off
all updates while the recalc executes to not have the "update the screen from
dirty values and thus recalculate" triggered, i.e. in your sub recalcul lock
and unlock the controllers with

dim component as object
component = ThisComponent
component.lockControllers()
... CalculateHard ...
component.unlockControllers()

which in this case works.

However, the better solution would be to not have the macro functions fiddle
with cell content at all but rather calculate J12 properly with another
function. Also, it would be better to not have the listboxes trigger a
CalculateHard on selection, but rather write the selection to a cell (or use
Data Validity instead of a form listbox) and use that cell as parameter to
functions. You wouldn't need any manual recalc then.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135801] There is no way to copy a path from Options / Paths.

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135801

>Why do you need to copy the path? There is no way to paste it back within the
>program.

I want to paste it into a different program. If the paths were very short, or
there were only a few of them, I might not have bothered reporting this as a
bug, but the paths are long (around 60 characters each on my Windows system),
and the dialog on my system currently shows 15 of them. That's a lot to have
to type by hand, not to mention the risk of typos.

(Actually, there *should* be a way to paste a path in; if I already have the
path in my clipboard, I shouldn't have to retype it. But that would be a
different issue.)

> I don't see much need to fiddle around with templates per file manager.

Not merely the file manager, but other programs. You may not have ever had
such a need, but I have.

> additional features just clutter the UI

I don't see how supporting +C clutters the UI. Having it copy the path
to the clipboard is fully consistent with long-established UI conventions.
Right now, that key combination does nothing, so why not have it do something
obvious and useful instead?

This functionality actually belongs in the listbox control in the GUI library;
it's a generic feature that's easily implemented.

Document with shadow in several distancies

Open attached document. It has shapes with wrap "Square" and there a left wrap
distance to text of 36px. The shapes have shadow enabled which goes to the left
(180° in UI of Word). The shadow distance varies, 0pt, 8pt, 21pt and 54pt.

The white part of the wrap area should be the same in all four examples,
because they all have the same distance to text. But the white area increases
with the shadow distance. It looks as if the shadow distance is applied twice.

Sorry, perhaps my comment was not correct enough. "It should be possible to get
the same result" = It should be possible for a developer to change behaviour of
link from Table of Figure that it behaves like link from a cross reference

I agree with NAB too; just wanted to highlight Jun’s point that having wildly
different motifs/metaphors across icon themes has implications for
documentation writing; one has to be careful to refer to icons by their
position and not their shape, which may or may not represent a complication. So
let’s be judicious in that aspect, while not erring in the side of monoculture
(which is why I hate things like the stupid, user-hostile “Don’t theme my app”
over at GNOME).

Simply change your icon theme to follow your friends.

In fact, consistency must be maintained within the same icon theme, not between
different themes. Beside that "more options/settings" or such, nowadays has
many appearances. For example browser: Firefox uses three line hamburger,
Chrome uses vertical three dots, Edge uses horizontal three dots, Opera uses
three lines with sliders. Should we shout to them to unify?

Correct. Regarding this it makes sense that the ToF points to the caption.
That, especially considering the background of when you follow the reference to
change the caption.

> So it should be possible to get the same result with an index entry
How it is possible? In order for an index to point to a picture, "Create from
object names" must be selected. In my opinion, this is not a real alternative,
because the object name does not match the caption. In addition, this only
works with some predefined index-types (Table of Figures, Index of Tables).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142485] New: Check for Updates Not Packager-Aware

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142485

Bug ID: 142485
Summary: Check for Updates Not Packager-Aware
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: michael.warner.ut+libreoff...@gmail.com

I'm using 7.1.2.2 on Linux Mint, which uses the Debian packager. LO told me
there was an update available and presented the Check for Updates window. When
I clicked Download... it took me to the downloads page with "Linux (64-bit)
(rpm)" selected, when it should be "Linux (64-bit) (deb)" in my case.

Changing the selection from the operating system pull-down menu is trivial, of
course. But other people may not be as observant and accidentally download the
wrong format.

I would think it would be easy enough for LO to pass the packager format for
the current OS as an argument in the download link and have either the server
or Javascript on the download page select the correct format.

If you don’t want to clutter Tools -> Options dialog box, I’m fine with that.
Just save the state in Config.ini (or whatever the real name is) and tell me
what the name is and I’ll set the state by hand.

Yes sorry, I missed your
"Additional Info:
Interestingly, this does not happen with a freshly created document. Also, an
XHTML export has the caption as text." as I skimmed the ticket.

>
> Also, do you confirm the behaviour when saving as HTML?

Yes the ancient HTML filter simply converts the image frame and its caption to
a GIF. So the caption "Illustration 1: my caption text" is embedded into the
bitmap and not available to AT.

For XSL based 'Export' to XHTML, just the image is embedded as PNG in base64.
The frame caption is completely dropped. And the alternative text is picked up
as normal text (not linked to the image). So an AT fail there as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135801] There is no way to copy a path from Options / Paths.

2021-05-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135801

You don't need to enter the path in Save As since it is the current path
because of this option. And I don't see much need to fiddle around with
templates per file manager.
Of course I can follow the ideas and it would be a nice-to-have thing. But
unless we have a clear use case, ideally showing the need for many users,
additional features just clutter the UI and generate coding effort.

The setting of View > [ ] Show Whitespace is saved, at least within the current
session. If we agree on making this persistent (or store per document) it would
be easy to implement.

I disagree with more options that with unclear reason. The average user is
happy with whitespace and normal view mode and has no idea why this need some
special handling ending up in confusion.

There is no direct MSO equivalent. The way they do it is to mark every
first-column cell's 1st paragraph as "keep with next paragraph" IIRC.

> Not sure it's about 28 pt. Same with 20.
This is specified on the Normal paragraph style, so it probably affects the
separator line itself, and not only the footnote. I didn't figure out how to
edit the separator line(s). (Perhaps it is only possible by editing the
footnotes.xml file itself.)

Until this bug gets fixed, a possible way to circumvent it when you want to
change table style, would be to:

- Copy the table and paste below.
- Change the style of the new table to what you want
- Save and reload the document. See that the new table has lost data.
- Select the cells of the original table and copy.
- Select the cells of the new table and paste.
- Delete the original table

To V Stuart Foote: Yes

To Heiko Tietze: Your suggestion has a problem. The program state is not saved.
That’s bad.
If I close Writer and reopen, Writer is back to its initial state.

If my suggestion is a problem, the solution is simple.
In Tools -> Options
They can add an option that says
Would you like Writer to be opened in
[X] View -> Normal mode
[X] View -> Web mode
[X] Last state before closing Writer

He could paste the path into the Name box in Save As... and then type the
filename at the end, to put a new file in the right place without browsing
through the folder structure.

Being able to copy the path would also allow him to paste it into another
program. For example, pasting it into a Windows File Explorer window so he
could quickly get to that location and then do something else.
