Dear Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired),

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Dear Ondřej,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142940] Enabling pair kerning breaks rendering of many common fonts

2021-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142940

--- Comment #1 from adam.m.fontenot+do...@gmail.com ---
Follow up: Looking at
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103322 again, it's worth
pointing out that if I'm reading the following correctly, LibreOffice is not
using subpixel positioning at all.

> We should switch to using floats to store glyph positions instead, which
> would make the rounding errors less visible. It would also allow us to
> benefit from sub-pixel positioning support in the graphics libraries we use.

Indeed, from testing this appears to be the case. If you look at the screenshot
I'm about to attach, you'll see that each glyph on the first line has exactly
the same subpixel offset as the corresponding glyph on the second line. This
isn't the case with a properly behaving FreeType renderer (tested in KWrite).

That's why the result of that bug is a bunch of bad glyph positioning problems.
If you type a repeated character like "mmm", the text layout engine will
(in 12 pt Arial) put each "m" slightly too close together because it lacks
subpixel positioning. Eventually it has to fix the word length and so it puts a
extra 1 pixel gap between two "m"s. Looks ugly:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88991

The thing is, so long as LibreOffice doesn't support subpixel positioning, it's
not surprising that pair kerning might make these rendering issues much worse.
Most kerning operations are relatively subtle, and when your renderer doesn't
support subpixel positioning at all, it's not surprising that that the engine
goes nuts and gives you nonsense results (like characters colliding) when asked
to make small adjustment to the glyph position.

If that turns out to be what's happening here, I think that's a further
argument for defaulting it to off.

There is no "Title Page" as a result

Search Command aka HUD-like feature (tdf#91874) is a great feature which
increase user experience quality. However, I have found that it can not query
any word that placed other than first order. For example: if we would like to
search "Title Page" in Writer, we should type "Title". The search area show
other results if we type "Page"

Step to reproduce:

1. Open Search Commands in Writer (Help > Search Commands)
2. Type "Page"

Existing result
1. "Title Page" does not appear, while "Page Width", "Page Break", "Page
Number",
"Page Style", "Page Formatting" are shown

Expected result
1. Any command that contains "Page" word should appear, even "page" word is
placed in second, third order in command

The option "replace dashes" generates an unspaced EM-DASH (U+2014) as it is
needed in English to offset parenthetical text.

The replacement table generates an EN-DASH (U+2013) and to trigger the
replacement, you need to write a blank after the code, and that blank is not
removed automatically.

So it is not duplicate and one of them cannot substitute the other.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 123095] Auto filter result is wrong when cell value contains full-width and half-width characters and case-insensitive filtering is used

I don't think that is right, or maybe the behaviour has changed since then, but
with original attachment 148812 you'll notice that:

1. Copy cell A3 and paste into AutoFilter search field, click OK
2. Result: nothing is shown
3. Go back to showing all (or Ctrl + Z)
4. Open Standard Filter, make sure "Case sensitive" is _not_ ticked
5. Paste the same contents to create the condition "Name = 乙二醇(进口料件)"
6. Result: the corresponding row (row 3) is shown

So, with AutoFilter (by default case-insensitive) and Standard Filter
(regardless of case sensitivity), we get different results in the case of those
special characters.

I think this is serious because, as mentioned in Bug 123095, whatever subset
you select in the value list, some values will never show.

In the example document, there are 20 rows of data. In the AutoFilter list,
there are three values to choose from: tuon, guet, vröude. If ticked, these
options respectively show 3, 4 and 4 values: a total of 11.

The remaining differences are due to the fact that the "center relative to

problem and independent from the originally reported wrongly skew.

I have written bug 142948 for the alignment problem.

I consider the original problem fixed here.

and callout extensions, and aligns the bounding box center with the page text
area center.
For some shape types, Word uses the snap rectangle. That is the rectangle which
has the handles to resize the object. I have found "chord", "arc", "pie" and
"block arc", but there might exist more.
For some shape types, I do not see any rule, how Word centers the object, e.g.
the shape type "half frame". The document contains a rotated "half frame".

LibreOffice uses the snap rectangle to position the object centered.

How should we handle this incompatibility? Change "center" to "from" on import
and export? Or do nothing and inform the user, that this alignment type is
incompatible? Where? Help or Wiki? Any other ideas?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142947] New: Groupedbar Compact UI : display a smaller arrow beside the popup textual menu title of each group

2021-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142947

Bug ID: 142947
Summary: Groupedbar Compact UI : display a smaller arrow beside
the popup textual menu title of each group
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.2.8.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jerome.bo...@laposte.net

Description:
I noticed that there is a big arrow beside the menu of each group in order to
show that a popup textual menu can appear after a click.

Why not using a smaller arrow ? For example this arrow could be the same than
the arrow of the icon which provides a popup menu.

The spared space could be used for an additional icon.

Actual Results:
A big arrow use a lot of space in a group of the GrouppedBar compact UI.

Expected Results:
Spare space in order to display one additional icon.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I noticed in the versions 6.2.8.2 and 7.1.3.2.

Screen cast of disappearing text box

An inserted text box object will be automatically removed if no text was added
there, and the object looses focus. This is normal, but in the following
scenario this is wrong:

1. Create a new text box object
2. Try to right-click inside it, to get a context menu - e.g., to paste.

=> text box disappears, the context menu gets opened in the text body.

This should not happen, because logically the text box is still active.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142943] New: Can't change paragraph styles by double-clicking a style on sidebar

2021-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142943

Bug ID: 142943
Summary: Can't change paragraph styles by double-clicking a
style on sidebar
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: hsantanna+libreoff...@gmail.com

I can't change between Writer paragraph styles by double click on any style
inside sidebar.

This only happens if the double click is "too fast", with no pause between the
two clicks. If I do a pause between two clicks (e.g 0.5s) the paragraph style
will be changed (most times).

To reproduce:

1. Click at any paragraph inside the document.
2. Open paragraph sidebar list (e.g pressing F11)
3. Double click over any style inside paragraph styles list.
4. The paragraph style have not changed inside document, but the style is
selected inside styles list.
5. Click two times with ~0.5s between clicks over another style on sidebar.
6. The style will be changed inside the document.

(Also, style change can be forced by mouse selecting a style on the list and
than pressing Enter on keyboard)

Additional info:

This only happens if SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN is set to kf5 or qt5.
This will not happen if VCL is gen or gtk3.

Tested on Wayland, not tested on X11.

Tested with:

I reproduce as in the Description with:

Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 94d552f94b427f884c004dba5d4619ecf729d605

I agree with the original comment that there shouldn't be any AutoFilter menu
at all in the copy in the first place, but instead only a static copy of the
data show when filtering. (Especially given that the AutoFilter menu in the
copy is useless: it can't be used to reset the filter and show all the original
data.)

Resetting the filter when one single cell in the range is selected does reset
the filter for the whole column. So I see this as inconsistent.

I agree that there should be a clearer indication that a Standard Filter is in
use in the range the selected cell is located.
A tick box in the menu (just like for AutoFilter) is a first step, but some
indication on the spreadsheet would be welcome too (small icon overlay, like
for comments? with a border highlighting the filtered range?)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125857] Improve indications for excluded data in a pivot table

2021-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125857

Reproduced in:

Version: 7.3.0.0.alpha0+ / LibreOffice Community

TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time:

Steps to reproduce from scratch:

1. create a table with a categorical column and a numerical column (like Sheet
1 of the attachment 153496)
2. create a pivot table from that range, using the categorical column as the
"Row Fields" and the sum of the numerical for the "Data Fields".
3. Right-click on a cell of the Value column of the pivot table, click
"Filter..."
4. Setup a filter to not take some of the source data into consideration (e.g.
"Values > 0"); click OK.

Result: the results in the pivot table do update, but there is no sign of a
filter being present.
This is very misleading for someone who does not know how the spreadsheet was
set us.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 142941] New: [EMF+] DrawImagePoints SrcRect support

2021-06-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=142941

Bug ID: 142941
   Summary: [EMF+] DrawImagePoints SrcRect support
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: f...@df.ru

Description:
LO doesn't handle DrawImagePoints SrcRect properly.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open attached EMF sample.

Actual Results:
LO draws a piece of green rectangle in the top left corner and blue square in
the middle of the image.

Expected Results:
It should draw green square of the same size as a blue one on the top part of
the image.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
In this case DrawImagePoints deals with an ObjectImage of the Metafile type. LO
reads SrcRect and uses in in aGDI.Clip call, however it has wrong or no effect
depends on the specific values provided.

This was identified during analysis of EMF+ part of the issue with a file from
tdf#59814.
Solving this problem should also have a positive impact on tdf#59814.

This is actually the same issue as Bug 35923 : autofilter / standard filter
both extend the range to contiguous cells below the selected range.

Thanks for reporting this issue. In order to debug further, we will need the
file. If you feel comfortable posting that file in a public forum, would you
please attach it to this bug?

I have set the status to NEEDINFO. If you choose to attach the document, you
can set the status back to UNCONFIRMED.
