[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143797] escape character \n does not work in search box for search replace in Writer

(In reply to Federico Atristain from comment #2)

This is because in LibreOffice, search is always *inside* a single paragraph.
However, there is a way to search for an *empty* paragraph (also mentioned on
the help page):

^$Finds an empty paragraph.

However, for many advanced find/replace actions, you might want to use an
extension:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143617] can't format long number with natural space in table

2021-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143617

--- Comment #4 from patrice.karatchentz...@gmail.com ---
Hi,

In writer, insert table with column. Then add long format number, like 1.
The number is underline and a menu proposes a correction (like 10 000). It is
OK.

When you choose a relative number, like 0,0001, the number disappears and you
get only the 0.

Correction: this bug exists only after a long format number:

First column : add a long format number and correct. Second column : add a
real... and rests only 0.
Second line : possible to add real, but without formatage.

Seems very strange :(

Dear Elizabeth Holley,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Fair question. But yes, I am pretty sure that LibreOffice sees the font. The
name is not italicized anywhere and I can do this: if I select the text and
choose another font everything looks normal. Then I can select the font back to
HelveticaNeue and the line spacing is wrong again.

I attached a screenshot to give an impression of the problem.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143797] escape character \n does not work in search box for search replace in Writer

2021-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143797

Yes, thank you. I tried using the $ too but it does not work.

I have a document that has 2 empty paragraphs together after a full one for
example (I am representing the paragraph marking with (\n)):

This is the full paragraph (\n)
(\n)
(\n)

When I do a search/replace entering in the search box:
$$$

And putting in the replace box:
\n\n

I would expect to see the result as follows:
This is the full paragraph (\n)
(\n)

This means eliminating one of the "paragraph end" markings, however, it does
not work either using the \n\n\n in the search or using the $$$.

It states that it does not find it.

> When the "\n" (without quotes) escape character is used in the search and/or

And it should not. As described on the "List of Regular Expressions" help page
[1], \n in the "Find" box matches *line break that was inserted with the
Shift+Enter key combination*.

By the way, it (and any other regular expressions) only work when relevant
option is selected in the dialog/toolbar.

To search for paragraph end, use $ as the search term (again, using regular
expressions).
