(In reply to QA Administrators from comment #5)

Issue is still present with FireFox (rel 91.0.2) however, it will not jump to
an alternate task view 'desktop' if FireFox is not already running. Without FF
running, a launch of the help will open the new browser into the same task view
desktop where LO is running.

But if FF is already open in another task view virtual 'desktop'--launching the
help article (local or online web delivered) will jump to that desktop.

Chrome, MS Edge do not behave that way and open a new browser when needed on
the active task view 'desktop'.

Resolving Not Our Bug as the inability for LO help to open on correct task view
"virtual desktop" is internal to FF.

Dear szotsaki,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 76952] Frames are not displayed

2021-08-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76952

Dear João Mac-Cormick,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

thank you for your response. I tested your response and it does work but it
requires an extra step so I still think the system is not working properly.
If I select the row with the Sum and then select the next row with the
additional number and go to a blank cell and use the Sum function it does not
return the sum. Based on your response, I now have to highlight the sum cell
and include the other sum number. I think that is a silly extra step. I know
this is no Excel but that is not how it works in excel. I should be able to
select a row of numbers and get a sum without having to do the extra step of
going back to include a cell.
Thank you.

In the gallery sidebar, if the user right-clicks any object a popup menu will
appear with an option "Insert as Background".

In a Writer document this option will show a sub-menu with 2 options "Page" and
"Paragraph". However, in Impress, Draw and Calc there are no options available
in the sub-menu because this command is only applicable to Writer (see attached
ODG file).

Therefore, I think this option should appear only in Writer and be removed from
the other applications.

Hi Regina, I was testing the instructions in the help page you mentioned and
none of them work. I'll give more details for each section:

In "Inserting an object as a copy" it is possible to fix the instructions
because inserting objects still works in all LO applications.

In "Inserting an object as a link" it looks like it is no longer possible to
insert objects as links, so this section should be removed.

In "Inserting an object as a background graphic" the options "Insert -
Background - Page or Paragraph" are only available in Writer. However, based on
my testing they don't seem to be working.

In "Inserting an object as a texture (pattern) for another object" the
instructions did not work at all. Has this feature been removed?

In short, it seems that from the 4 use cases, only the first still works. Could
you confirm if this is indeed the case?

As for inserting objects as links I found this page saying that holding Ctrl +
Shift and dragging the object into the document inserts it as a link (this
worked in my tests):

I have also tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling LibreOffice, but it
did not help.

Even going into Tools -> Options -> User Data and deleting my first and last
name had no effect. Instead of my name covering the last line of comment text,
"Unknown Author" covers it.

This even happens in Safe Mode.

I am running the latest version of 64-bit Windows 10 on a Surface Pro 4, with
the resolution set at 2736x1824.

Screenshots of mouse cursors in Writer and Calc

Hi Heiko. I believe it would be better if mouse cursor in Calc had the same
behavior as in Writer (see the attached ODG file).

Current behavior in Writer:
- If the object is NOT selected, then the normal point mouse cursor is
presented
- If the object IS selected, then the drag cursor is presented

Current behavior in Calc:
- If the object is NOT selected, then the Fat Cross cursor is presented (should
be the normal point cursor as in Writer)
- If the object IS selected, then the drag cursor is presented (this is OK in
Calc)

So I've tried to follow most of the steps in
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FirstSteps.

1. First I removed and reinstalled LibreOffice. I've posted a print of the new
result - now the squares disapeared but I still get lots of empty spaces. I
consider it somewhat an improvement lol
2. I wiped my user profile and the only thing I did afterwards was to enable
experimental features (so I could use Firebird with LO Base and work on the
database). No changes.
3. The string I get in Help-About libreOffice is Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win. Have no
idea what it means.
4. Removed all fonts downloaded in the last couple of days (only 2 actually).
No changes.

The other steps seems to be related to Calc and/or Linux, so I didn't followed.

Hi! This is a very old bug that hasn't been taken care of.

In my opinion this is not a Documentation bug because the problem is with the
nomenclature used in the commands in LO Calc. The use of "Split cells" is
incorrect and "Unmerge cells" is a better terminology.

Also, in MS Excel the command is called "Unmerge cells".

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/merge-and-unmerge-cells-5cbd15d5-9375-4540-907f-c673a93fcedf

I believe the command should be renamed accordingly both in the Core:

https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI/CalcCommands.xcu

... and in the Help page / Documentation:

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/guide/table_cellmerge.html

Since this is a change to the name of a much used command, I would like to hear
the opinions of others on this matter before proceeding with a fix.

I support this as an additional option.

I was just running into this a few days ago where I was wanting to do two
Replace Alls on the same column, and before doing the second, I had to select
all the cells of the column again. That seems a waste of time. If I could have
a way for it to maintain the full selection, I can see that saving me time
across my many uses of Calc.

LibreOffice Help - Defining Print Ranges on a Sheet

states:

"The cells on the sheet that are not part of the defined print range are not
printed or exported."

=> You need to define a print range containing the cells w/o data you want to
be printed, through Format -> Print Ranges -> Define/Add, to get your cells
without data (but having borders only) to be printed.

This is not a bug but documented behavior.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99296] Calc: Disable headers/footers by default

Yes, it's always a surprise for the user when "page one" suddenly gets printed
on their documents.

This header/footer is per default set as on. There's no way to know this until
you print/export your fist spreadsheet, whereafter the search begins why these
words are included.

This is not wysiwyg behaviour. It’s always a search for new people how to
remove these (possibly unwanted) words.

It is indeed ment not to be edited, which is also the goal of this enhancement
request?

So in the end, this request gets closed, without any real alternative when
someone wants to have his/her slideshow converted to an uneditable slideshow
within the same format? A pity.

OnlyOffice uses Open XML format to my understanding.

The Macros seems to be in the jsaProject.bin file.
