Dear Yousuf Philips (jay) (retired),

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Dear Gerhard Weydt,

In Excel, the "Automatic" calculation setting will recalculate workbooks unless
the file sets a flag (in XLSX, fullCalcOnLoad="0").

"Automatic" does not have an equivalent in LibreOffice: "Always recalculate"
will recalculate files that are explicitly set not to recalculate on file load,
"Never recalculate" will not recalculate files that are explicitly set to
recalculate, and "Prompt user" will prompt without giving an indication of the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144847] New: Changing anything on the Type tab of Image Properties box causes image to become square

2021-09-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144847

Bug ID: 144847
   Summary: Changing anything on the Type tab of Image Properties
box causes image to become square
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ravenkw...@gmail.com

Description:
For the last week, the image property tab has been malfunctioning. When the
Keep ratio field is checked. clicking on the width or height fields causes that
field value to change to match the other field (always forming a square image).

When this happens, clicking the Original Size button allows me to change one of
the fields and the other responds as expected.

Also, if I then save the image properties, close the properties box and go back
in, making any changes to the position then causes the image to flip back to
square.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an image properties box
2.Check Keep ratio
3. Save and close image property box
4. Re-open image property box
5.Click in either Width or Height

Actual Results:
Image field setting immediately changes to match the other measurement (ie
click in Width, the width changes to be the same as the height). Changing the
number in the field causes the other field to change to exactly match the
number just entered.

Expected Results:
No change on clicking in the field box. Changing the field number causes other
field to change in ratio.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

OpenGL enabled: Yes

Additional Info:
Problem persists in safe mode

I set this to high because it's a regression and a visible one, that makes user
lose confidence in LO. I do it as someone who's triaging thousands of bugs,
sometimes increasing but also decreasing importance or closing bugs.
Silent reverting to "normal" importance means it will be lost in thousands of
other bugs, maybe for a better statistics, but for a worse user experience.
Changing priority is not a favor to this bug. Bibisect is, inviting someone to
fix is.

I thick wrong. Because Priority should be High because this is regression and

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.1.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lantcod...@mail.ru

Description:
Since upgrade LO to version 7.2 I stucked with unpleasant dialogue
"Document is read-only. Open read-only or select Notify... etc"
Three buttons. WHY? I open many hundreds *.odt files, many of these files
protected from accidental deletion with read-only attribute. Okay, click open/
and see another, old information string "This document open read-only", and
button "Edit" on right corner, and a cross to close string. I does not
understand. Why first popup dialogue appears? Information string is not enought
to select action? Is this really necessary? I know, I see that opening
read-only file need to upgrade. But this way is wrong.

What I offer to do. Move buttons of new popup dialogue to information string
appears above document what opened read-only. Instead one button "Edit" - add
new button "Notify". There is a more user-friendly dialogue. We see documents
with one click, and then decide, what we do later: open read-only, notify other
user or open to editing.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make document a read-only with file attribute
2. Open it

Actual Results:
We see a dialogue that unnecessary to open file

Expected Results:
Open a document without these dialogue!

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38948] FILESAVE - Calc does not save the solver's model to files

2021-09-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38948

--- Comment #35 from Wolfgang Jäger  ---
Sorry, I won't b able to scan the cod, but...

Regarding the already mentioned complications, the problem where to store the
parameters, and how to do it per sheet or in a different way, then a probable
decision to implement an interim solution, I would suggest a simpler and
probably even more useful solution:

Create a bit of code saving the parameters of a solver job (including the
algorithm designator) to a cell range the user may describe in a field of the
dialog. A button then can trigger the action. In the same way a job could be
read from a cell range and passed to the solver object.
This would be rather simple.
I will not rework the dialog, but surely I could write the needed code even in
Basic in a reasonable time.

to be tried; see also its comment at
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sc/source/core/data/table3.cxx?r=b60b6bfa#2941

Apart from that, COUNTIFS() doesn't do range lookups, only LOOKUP, MATCH and
[HV]LOOKUP do.

   Summary: Adding a new Column to a table adds unexpected Bullets
to text
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress

  Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com

Video capture showing the bug

In Impress, if a new column is added to a table, the new column gets a weird
style with bullets for no apparent reason (see the attached video capture).

Steps to reproduce:
1) Insert a 2 by 2 table into the slide
2) Insert text into the 4 cells
3) Select the second column and right click
4) Go to Insert - Insert Column After
5) Add text to the new column; notice that it has bullets and a different font

The expected result would be the same style initially applied to the table also
being applied to the new column.

Inserting rows (above or below) does not seem to have the same problem.

Eike/Noel: the Flamegraph shows that a lot of time is in ScTable::ValidQuery
See
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/sc/source/core/data/table3.cxx?r=b60b6bfa#2979

I noticed in the loop "for (const auto& rItem : rItems)" at line 3039 that
perhaps changing the order of test may help.
For example, I thought about putting:
3069  else if (rParam.mbRangeLookup)
3070  {
3071  std::pair aThisRes =
3072  aEval.compareByRangeLookup(aCell, nCol, nRow,
rEntry, rItem);
3073  aRes.first |= aThisRes.first;
3074  aRes.second |= aThisRes.second;
3075  }
3076
3077  if (aRes.first && aRes.second)
3078  break;

just after:
3041  if (rItem.meType == ScQueryEntry::ByTextColor)
3042  {
3043  std::pair aThisRes
3044  = aEval.compareByTextColor(nCol, nRow, nTab,
rItem);
3045  aRes.first |= aThisRes.first;
3046  aRes.second |= aThisRes.second;
3047  }
3048  else if (rItem.meType == ScQueryEntry::ByBackgroundColor)
3049  {
3050  std::pair aThisRes =
3051  aEval.compareByBackgroundColor(nCol, nRow, nTab,
rItem);
3052  aRes.first |= aThisRes.first;
3053  aRes.second |= aThisRes.second;
3054  }

so these would be at the end:
3055 else if (aEval.isQueryByValue(rItem, nCol, nRow, aCell))
3056  {
3057  std::pair aThisRes =
3058  aEval.compareByValue(aCell, nCol, nRow, rEntry,
rItem, pContext);
3059  aRes.first |= aThisRes.first;
3060  aRes.second |= aThisRes.second;
3061  }
3062 else if (aEval.isQueryByString(rEntry, rItem, nCol, nRow,
aCell))
3063  {
3064  std::pair aThisRes =
3065  aEval.compareByString(aCell, nRow, rEntry, rItem,
pContext);
3066  aRes.first |= aThisRes.first;
3067  aRes.second |= aThisRes.second;
3068  }

So we would call "isQueryByValue" and/or "isQueryByString" only if necessary.

Now, I don't know if the order of evaluation matters and could change the final
result.

This is indeed weird... using the Kf5 backend the problem happens using LO
7.2.1.2 (from the Ubuntu PPA) and with the daily LO 7.3 alpha build.

However, setting SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen has the following results:
1) Using the PPA version and the 7.3 alpha daily build (deb), I get only
Insert, Preview and Copy.
2) If I build LO from source, I get Insert, Preview, Title, Delete, Copy and
Paste (no "Insert as Background").

If I run the same build I made from the source code, but using kf5, I get the
"Insert as Background" option.

What may be causing this?

True... I fixed it to avoid confusion.

This data can't be parsed as CSV, because it is not a valid csv in any case.

But you could try to turn it into one, pre-processing the data to remove
everything matching the regex \b\w+= - then the rest would be the data without
the field names (*if* the regex doesn't match anything inside the data itself).

And then you could just add a heading row with the removed column names
manually.

As an addition to Telesto's comment:

This issue is not about tab stops only. Tab stops are just one case, but if I
remember correctly, "Tools > Options" have more of them.

This issue affects settings in other places as well. For example, most "View >
Zoom" is stored in the application, but the view itself ("View > Normal" or
"View > Web") is stored in the document.

The whole idea of what I talking about is to make these things transparent for
the user.

> then write about it.

Hi Hossein! I'll take another look at the code too, to recap everything.

In order to implement this new feature I believe we're gonna need many separate
patches. One possible course of action would be:

1) Implement the ability to save solver configuration on a "per-sheet" basis at
runtime (still not saving to the file). This part might not be so difficult.

2) Save solver settings to an embedded XML file into the ODS file.

3) Make Calc load solver settings when the ODS file is opened and the user
selects a new sheet.

4) Implement XLSX export so that solver settings are compatible with MS Excel
(it seems Excel saves solver info to 'xl/workbook.xml'.

5) Implement XLSX import to be able to load solver settings from Excel files.

I have no idea how to implement steps 2 to 5.

Thanks for the explanations. I understand the problem is that part of the field

Wouldn't the Merge delimiters option work though?:
"Combines consecutive delimiters and removes blank data fields"

BTW the tabs above came from me copying/pasting from Calc. And it is not
fixed-width either. Scrubbed raw data follows:

That data doesn't look space-separated but fixed-width.
But even if it was space-separated it would not fulfil the criteria for quoted
fields because for that the *entire* field content has to be "enquoted like
this", which
logdesc="SSL VPN tunnel up"
or any other of that data is not.

Import as fixed-width, placing a column separator between column 40/41 and if
after import you want to get rid of the extra spaces in column A then use a
formula in C1 =TRIM(A1) and fill that down until end of data. You may then copy
those results into clipboard and Paste-Special it onto the data in column A,
only Strings but not Formulas.

Not a bug.

--- Comment #1 from Mike Kaganski  ---
Quoted field in CSV *starts* with a quote mark (normally "), and ends with this
mark. What you show is something that includes such a character in the middle,
and is *not* a quoted field.

Proper syntax of a quoted field:

123 "123123"123

If this sample is parsed with *tab* used as field separator, then it has three
fields, first 123, second "123 123" (starting with the quote, and going until
another quote followed by field separator), and third 123.

Another proper syntax:

"logdesc=""SSL VPN tunnel up""" "action=""tunnel-up"""

Here the first field would be "logdesc=""SSL VPN tunnel up""", where the middle
quotes are so-called "2DQUOTE" in the RFC, that would come as single literal
quotes in the result.

Incorrect syntax:

logdesc="SSL VPN tunnel up" action="tunnel-up"

(which would still be read OK if you use tabs as separators, but would
*rightfully* fail your expectations if you use any space as a separator).

Ref.: RFC 4180.

Closing NOTABUG.

Bug ID: 144842
   Summary: LibreOffice Calc FILEOPEN Import csv 'Format quoted

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: itism...@gmail.com

Description:
Importing a space-separated CSV which includes quoted text in fields results in
extra columns being created rather than merging them. e.g.:

group="SSLVPN Users" dst_host="N/A" reason="Lost the connection" duration=15
sentbyte=0 rcvdbyte=0 msg="SSL tunnel shutdown"

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attempt to import space-separated CSV with quoted text in fields
2. Under Separator Options select Separated by: Space and Merge delimiters and
enter a double-quote (") in the String Delimiter field.
3. Under Other Options, select Format quoted field as text and click Ok

Actual Results:
Fields are separated into multiple columns:

logdesc="SSLVPN tunnel  up" action="tunnel-up"
logdesc="SSLVPN tunnel  up" action="tunnel-up"
logdesc="SSLVPN tunnel  down"   action="tunnel-down"

Expected Results:
Fields should be merged:

logdesc="SSL VPN tunnel up" action="tunnel-up"
logdesc="SSL VPN tunnel up" action="tunnel-up"
logdesc="SSL VPN tunnel down"   action="tunnel-down"

Reproducible: Always

Maybe, but IIUC if we were to immediately instantiate a new draw text object,
with no text entry, and then out we would leave a zero size draw object.
They'd be impossible to select and clear away. Don't want that behavior.

So, in addition to the current mouse release/click to complete draw object
creation--we would need the Draw text box object to be created fully styled on
the initial single character entry, rather than by a mouse action.

That would be to supplement currently functional drawing of full text box with
its styling and then entering text at its text cursor.

When using Tabbed Interface there's no way to access certain features, such as

to the classic interface, which is very cumbersome.

Hi! To be clear, I'm not saying it is a bug, but rather a UX issue. I mean that
it would be better if the text did not jump to a different position. Suppose
there were two options, which do you think would be more desirable for the end
user?

1) Follow the steps I did in the first video and the text remains in the same
position when the user clicks outside.

2) Follow the steps I did in the first video and the text jumps to a different
position after clicking outside.

> To me it is doing the correct and expected thing.

I followed the same steps on MS PowerPoint, Google Slides and OnlyOffice and in
all of them, when the user clicks outside the text box, the text stays in the
same position.

Notice that when the user first clicks the slide, the initial textbox already
contains all the internal padding. In LibreOffice the initial textbox does not
have internal padding and it gets applied only when the cursor leaves the
textbox.

Just as a final remark, I always like to think from the perspective of a new
user coming from other office suites to LibreOffice... and since all of them
have the same behavior, when the new user faces issues like these, he/she will
not get a good impression from LibreOffice and will think that this is a bug.

Moreover, I would have much trouble explaining to a new user that the text
changing its position is a better experience and that this is the way things
should be.

2021-09-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #4 from Concerned User  ---
It would be beyond the scope of my intent to assume that one could colorize
rasterized images such as gallery/gullet images as you call out. Being heavily
vectorized in nature, I would imagine that vectorized bullets capable of
relatively easy colorization would be preferred.

What I mean to say is that while it may only be "one condition," it is likely
the most common condition.
