proportions
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Visual comparision Impress (left) vs PowerPoint (right)

Using attachment #181242 from bug #181242
( https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=181242 )

Unlike PowerPoint, Impress blows up the video in the sample slide
to the size of the bounding rectangle and distorts proportions.

Yes, that's true. The dialog has some other issues too such as no proper
padding and the dropdown is somehow cut off at left for me (can see just *LIC).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149941] Display boolean TRUE or FALSE centered

2022-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149941

Hello Eike,

thank you very much for your explanation. Indeed, I was not aware that Excel
has a "distinct boolean type". I even found out that the comparison candidates
Gnumeric, PlanMaker and OnlyOffice also have a "distinct boolean type" like
Excel.

Still, I don't think this changes the issue. LibreOffice Calc also displays the
*WORDS* TRUE and FALSE here. (In my opinion this has nothing to do with a
"simulation" of anything).

It has become established practice that *NUMERIC VALUES* in tables are
right-justified. The only reason for this is that the number of decimal places
becomes clear to the viewer more quickly.

But now it is a question of how the *WORDS* TRUE or FALSE should be displayed.
And for this I think centered is an absolutely reasonable default, which we
should follow with LibreOffice.

When I open Start Center, it displays recent documents in a window that
occupies about 66% of the screen. (This is on a laptop with an external monitor
attached via HDMI. The Start Center window also only occupies 66% of the laptop
monitor.

When I maximize the Start Center window, close LibreOffice and relaunch it, the
Start Center window is not maximized.

If I double click on a document from File Explorer and resize/maximize the
document and then close it, the document window size is not remembered.

Date acceptance patterns do affect DATEVALUE(), as the argument is just passed
to the number formatter/scanner's IsNumberFormat() with all its quirks and
bells and whistles, that parses it according to the current locale and
settings.

(In reply to roland from comment #0)

and both formula expressions return Err:502 and the same strings as cell inputs
are also not accepted as dates but stay text.
What LibreOffice version are you using anyway?

(In reply to roland from comment #2)

It does exactly that.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149941] Display boolean TRUE or FALSE centered

2022-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149941

I don't really care.
However, with the difference between Excel (which has a distinct boolean type)
and Calc (that does not have a distinct boolean type) I think it might not even
be that a good idea, because for Calc it's really just a number format, any
number can be formatted as BOOLEAN where 0 is displayed as FALSE and any other
numeric value as TRUE. This is not possible in Excel AFAIK, as soon as a
formula result changes from boolean to numeric the boolean display "format"
(which it isn't) changes to the previous applied format, IIRC. Correct me if
I'm wrong.

Emulating something like that would require much more than just centring a
boolean display format.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149953

I probably made a mistake with comment 0, I think.. As I'm unable to reproduce

1. Open attachment 180483
2. Tools -> Options -> Make sure user data being empty (close dialog)
3. Select "six" in the first line and hit backspace (bright green)
4. Select "idolatry" in the first line and press CTRL+X CTRL+V (dark green)

This appears having something to do with color schemes for different editors
using track changes..

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium

Created attachment 181239

Turned on JUMBO Mode... Hitting Ctrl+arrows on an empty sheet, I can get to
cell XFD1600 -- ok, now for real data...

With a fairly large sheet, a progress bar would be nice. It takes just over 4
minutes to load/recover a 5543960 row sheet. One person in my team informed me
he has a sheet with over 16M rows... (of course... :)

Hit Ctrl+downarrow instantly crashes. Recover; this time, use scroll bar to
move down the sheet. Got down to about 1/5 of the 5543960 rows and boom! Tried
again, this time sneaking up on the old limit of 1048576 rows; crashes when I
get there.

My system is quite capable:
Operating System: Mageia 9
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
Qt Version: 5.15.2
Kernel Version: 5.18.7-server-1.mga9 (64-bit)

Infra and website issues go to https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/ (new
accounts require a manual approval)

I mentioned this report on IRC #tdf-infra at Libera Chat. No comment so far
from admins, but I noticed the disclosure says

"The issue only affects nginx if the "resolver" directive is used in the
configuration file."

https://mailman.nginx.org/pipermail/nginx-announce/2021/000300.html

Going over the configs in
https://git.libreoffice.org/infra/salt/+/refs/heads/master/nginx I was unable
to find such a directive.

Can all files related to Dutch at
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/dictionaries/tree/ get upgraded as
described above with the versions found at
https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/5711

I have noticed that some distributions and projects use libreoffice
dictionaries as their upstream. And, these files need upgrading for the
spelling checker that is shipped by default with OO.

What is the best way to do this as this issue is open for more than one and a
half year? Shall I make a patch?

moveFrom and moveTo paragraph marks are imported as old paragraphs with new
content, i.e. accepting a removed list item and rejecting an inserted list item
leave empty list items instead removing the list items completely.

I understand the rationale, but in this case, at least with regard to the
permissions grid, we have an example of a control which exceeds the designed
width. That would probably need addressing as well.

Other UIs, e.g. MySQLWorkbench (not that I'm citing that as an example of best
practice, but certainly an example of one current practice), proposes a grid
control with vertically organized choices (tick box), rather than horizontal.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149926] Implement Role management UI in Base

2022-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149926

@prrvchr:

Basically, if you want something done in Base, you stand more of a chance of
getting it if you do it yourself, or else hire someone to do it for you.

Currently, I think it is fair to say that the database code is in a state of
gradual semi-decline, with the occasional regression-fix made by some very kind
volunteers. It is barely "hangin' on in there".

Past experience of being a member of Base QA has shown that programming for the
database module is a complex, and mostly, thankless task, as pretty much
everyone who has been involved at some stage rapidly moves away to other
(sexier?) subjects - as a case in point, the development to provide a
functional embedded Firebird ODB and corresponding migration tool, which has
essentially stalled.

All coding contributors and efforts would be most welcome.

did not understand you comment. this user-interface bug is preventing me to
update libreoffice at all. i have to stay on 7.3.2.2 (last good version) until
this is fixed. because this behavior is against ALL usability. in every other
app (be it kwrite, any other editor, firefox, chrome, etc) when i press ctrl-f
i get the search dialog AND the focus is with the search field. unlike in the
recent versions of LO, where i constantly start typing my search text and that
goes into my document instead of the search field. this is extremly annoying
and i don't understand, how nobody can understand this misbehavior.

KDE / KDE plasma has (to my knowledge) never made the follow text-cursor/caret

Therefore, it is unfortunately not possible to find out if LibreOffice has the
same problem with KDE.

> open such encoded hyperlinks (e.g. "f%C3%BCr" is problematic but not "für").

That appears to be a shortcoming of those "Windows programs like PDF-XChange".
(And I suggest you get in touch with them.)

With your sample PDF files from attachment 138438, "Bug 112225 Straßenbrücken
(exported with LibO 6.1).pdf" contains

> <>

while "Bug 112225 Straßenbrücken (saved with Word 2013).pdf" contains

> <>

when interpreting the file's bytes as UTF-8. (The difference in absolute vs.
relative URL is apparently as per your comment 3.)

But at least

"PDF 1.7", section 12.6.4.7 "Interactive Features: Actions: Action Types: URI
Actions" in table 206 "Additoinal entries specific to a URI action" on page
424, specifies that key "URI" is of type "ASCII string" with value: "(Required)
The uniform resource identifier to resolve, encoded in 7-bit ASCII."

And your "...(exported with LibO 6.1).pdf" matches that requirement while your
"...(saved with Word 2013).pdf" does not.

(See also

"tdf#70833: IDNA support when exporing hyperlinks to PDF" for how we are
careful to write ASCII-only URI values.)

When I start 32-bit LO master 7.5+ on Win11 I only get application error
0xc142. 64-bit master works. I tried both install and parallel run.

Not sure this is LO bug. That error is frequent for Win 10/11, with some
general remedies. Still, worth to check and keep here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 46014] LibreOffice cannot connect to the internet via a proxy that requires authentification

2022-07-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46014

The bug still persists in LibreOffice 7.3.4.2 under Windows and Linux and a
LibreOffice 7.2.7.2 under Linux. 7.3.4.2 shows no additional error message when
searching for updates (the search simply fails there is no reason given).
7.2.7.2 under Linux fails with the additional info: Could not create SSL
connection through proxy server: 200 Connection established.
Important fact: The Proxy here does /not/ require authentication!!
It looks like LibreOffice cannot connect to anything through a proxy regardless
of an authentication at the proxy. In both cases connection to a webDAV server
also fails going through the proxy.
For the 7.2.7.2 under Linux I can configure no proxy and use a VPN to connect
to the internet, then it works like a charm.

The li element has an end tag (), but it’s optional in some cases:

An li element's end tag may be omitted if the li element is immediately
followed by another li element or if there is no more content in the parent
element.

Should we go for XHTML compliance here and close the li tag?

I have fixed it:
  - Fixed the flag ! at start of words;
  - Removed duplicate words;
  - Sorted alphabetically the dictionary.

I will release it at the end of the month for LibreOffice and OpenOffice.

But notice that the dictionary is unmaintained, look at the two screenshots I
have attached… there is a difference of 120K words between GB and ZA.

Version: 7.3.4.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 728fec16bd5f605073805c3c9e7c4212a0120dc5

You can even briefly see, when opening the form up in design mode, the last
saved position of the Form Navigator, but it is almost instantaneously
repositioned in the top left hand corner.

I just tried all of your suggestions, no difference.
(Skia is disabled, OpenGL disabled)

LO restart in Safe Mode, new user folder ... no difference.

Another examination:

(after Windows restart)

1) Start LO/Writer, no problems ... close LO/writer.
2) Start TheBat and keep it running.
3) Start Writer again => no problems.

The problem is only when TheBat is started first and running.

There is no "group, that maintains Base". There are some people, who fix bugs.
There hasn't been changed much in Base since LO exists. Firebird has been added
as (experimental) internal database. Not much more …

> I think the code needed for group management should be very similar to the
> one already in place for user management.
>
> That's all that made me come here, but maybe I'm wrong?

I don't know who created the user management. Could be it is part of LO and AOO
for a long time. I didn't notice this management, because it isn't working with
internal databases and isn't working with MySQL/MariaDB and also PostgreSQL.

This bugtracker is the right place to ask for an enhancement. Some bugs will be
fixed in a very short time, but an enhancement in Base …

What happens if you start LO via shortcut, not double click?
User Profile Reset: indicates you should do it, please try both Help-Restart in
Safe mode and rename LO user profile folder.
