[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149457] Arabic Text Scrambled and Unreadable in PDF Files Opened by LibreOffice Draw
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149457 V Stuart Foote changed: What|Removed |Added Status|REOPENED|NEW --- Comment #10 from V Stuart Foote --- @Khaldoun, thanks for the analysis. I did notice the 1st issue. I don't know if that is a font fallback, or just manifestation of the way the glyphs are being extracted from the PDF--where the logic for handling the glyph transformations is probably not present. For the second, best to think of them as partial text runs or snippets. Glyphs are encoded into the PDF with no sense of source script. We filter import them (using poppler libs) into LibreOffice as just a run of text, all lexical context is missing. Normal break iterators are not parsed even if present. They end up recorded into the draw canvas as text box objects--disjointed by which glyphs get strung together. So, given the coarseness of the filter import, just getting them into the correct RTL sequence (for bug 104597) is a great improvement. Assembling them into lexically useful strings, sentences and paragraphs is work still to be done, work done for bug 118370 is not doing well with assembling the RTL textboxes, suspect that needs additional logic to do so. I'm interested in Khaled's take on things at this juncture. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151442] [UI] Windows menu item (Sheet, Delete Rows) has a non-unique accelerator
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151442 --- Comment #9 from Sean Gugler --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #6) > you can try to modify via tools > > customize > menu: find the command at the right-hand list (use the dropdown > above for the root item), and set the hotkey with a tilde per Modify > > Rename. For example "Insert ~Rows". This does work - thank you for the excellent work-around! I had actually thought of doing this before opening my report, but after trying the "menu rename" interface I (wrongly) concluded that hotkeys could not be assigned this way, for 2 reasons: 1) The prompt in the "Rename Menu" dialog displays the existing name as simply "Delete Rows" without any markup indicating there's anything special about the "R". 2) I experimentally tried inserting an "&" character anyway, which is the native markup symbol used in Windows development, but of course this didn't work. It didn't occur to me to try "~" instead. If the prompt had been shown as "Delete ~Rows" I would have been happily on my way without ever opening a bugzilla ticket. Maybe I should open a separate ticket that "Customize > Menu > Rename" should display "~" at the appropriate position. I notice that it still displays as "Delete Rows" without any markup, even after I've successfully renamed it "Delete Ro~ws". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

As of version 7.4.2.1, text can be entered, but text commands like the “Select” command no longer work. Nuance Dragon now displays the errors “No speech available” and “Cannot find any matching text” when trying to work with the text in a LibreOffice document. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149457 --- Comment #7 from Khaldoun --- Hello, I agree, Draw is not a PDF editor. But Draw still show handle the RTL/Arabic letters properly. Which is not yet 100% fixed in this fix. In Arabic when a "Lam" letter is followed by a 'Alef" letter or "Hamza" letter, both letters are combined into a new form/shape. This looks like not being handled yet properly in this fix. Also, another issue appears that Draw sometimes split the "same word" into multiple blocks. NB. I call it a "block" but it can be named: frame, box.. etc. I am attaching new file that describes both issues. IMPORTANT: This commit fixes a big portion of the issue. Using the Insert -> Field main menu (or +F2) to enter the Fields dialog. These "Input lists" are found on the dialog 'Functions' tab as the 'Input list' field Type. For an active field, the items on the list 'Choose items' dialog ( ++F9 ) are exposed with a horizontal scroll thumb and can also be fully read with a onmouseover tooltip by pointing. Mouse pointing is needed anyhow to select. Booth seems suitable to task with no reason to wrap the text in the dialog, or make the dialog resizable. Though personally I'd set an AutoText (+F3) and mnemonic shortcuts rather than placing fields all over the document. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104597] RTL script text runs are reversed on PDF import, PDFIProcessor::mirrorString misbehaving
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104597 --- Comment #84 from V Stuart Foote --- IMHO this is fixed now. The import to Draw of Persian and Arabic sample PDFs match pretty closely their layout and rendering in Adobe Acrobat, MS Edge, or FireFox There are occasional font fallback issues, and a lot of spots where combining diacritics get separated from their root glyph garbling the text. But much better than it was. Unfortunately "Consolidate text" (bug 118370) of the runs will need some additional work to keep the runs RTL, and otherwise remains a challenge to select the draw text objects for the runs--but that is more bug 32249 related. The bug 151473 issues with bracketing punctuation is present, guess issues in the poppler libs could also be the reason for the orphaned combining diacritics. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149457 --- Comment #5 from V Stuart Foote --- The 2022-10-14 nightly [1] imports the sample PDF to Draw pretty well. Some font glitches and obvious spots where combining glyphs get separated from their root glyph. Overall greatly improved, but please consider LibreOffice is *NOT* a PDF editor, the filter import to Draw produces an ODF holding sdraw text objects arranged on a document canvas. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151530] New: Allow resizing of input list selection window UI
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151530 Bug ID: 151530 Summary: Allow resizing of input list selection window UI Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.2.3 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: bboyceisla...@gmail.com Description: I use input lists as a clause selection feature for reports where I use lots of boilerplate content. The window that pops open to select an input list item is not very wide and doesn't show much of each list item so I have to scroll from side to side to determine which paragraph is the one I want to use, which can be precarious with lots of items or long paragraphs/sentences. Allowing the user to resize the width of this window would be a significant upgrade in usability for this dialog. Alternatively, reformatting this window entirely to allow list items to wrap into multi-line format would be even more ideal. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an input list which consists of long sentences or multiple sentences as input list items. 2. Click the input list in the content of the document to select an item. Actual Results: Window displays but is too small to see much of each list item because they are long sentences and/or paragraphs which makes it difficult to determine which list item to use. Expected Results: Better readability of each list item's content.
