Hi, I tried to bump this to major, as it has gotten no attention in 6 months,
seems easy to fix, and is an impairment while presenting. I would like to black
out the screen to avoid distraction by slides during discussions with a button
press. Then come back to the slide with a simple button press. This is promised
by the help screen, but doesn't work.

I wasn't allowed to change the Importance for lack of permissions.

I've tried printing to file on my home computer but can't replicate there using
7.3.7.2,
however haven't tried the bug when printing to a printer on the home computer
and will do so.

As an aside, neither Microsoft Office 2007 nor OpenOffice had the same bug.

The client who I discovered the bug with said it only started happening when
she changed printers. So it's possible it's some sort of printer
driver/libreoffice interaction.

Direct access to the trendline equation would also provide enable users to have
regression calculations for data sets with missing values. In contrast, Calc's
regression functions return ERROR if any values are missing. This is not the
case when trendlines are calculated - Scatter Graphs and their trendlines have
no issue with missing values in the input data sets. I would greatly appreciate
this function - and win a march over Excel, which also returns ERROR if values
are missing from regression inputs.

Dear Katarina Behrens (Inactive),

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Tooltip and Extended tip for "Export outlines" were updated recently, and refer
appropriately to headings. They also mention Table of Contents; will leave this
convenient fiction in the tips.

Thanks to Gabriel Crabbe for technical expertise.

Closing as FIXED. If further adjustments are needed, then they can be sent to

Tested with:

Version: 7.2.7.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 8d71d29d553c0f7dcbfa38fbfda25ee34cce99a2

Build ID: c41e872ed248f804249ecf4d65c4afc2e426e329)

NB. For type "Index of Tables", hyperlinks are not included in the default
Structure in the Entries tab. However, if you add them, then hyperlinks are
generated (and work). I will not open a new ticket to suggest that hyperlinks
be added to the default Structure, but it seems like an obvious and convenient
enhancement request.

that the first sentence is:

"Specify how to export outlines and hyperlinks in your document."

I believe "outlines" -> "bookmarks" is needed, plus mention of document
references, so the complete revised sentence should be:

"Specify how to export outlines, document references and hyperlinks in your
document."

Will link the patch with this ticket, which was concerned about "outlines" ->

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104804] Help on "Export Bookmarks" and help on "Export bookmarks as named destinations" is not clear enough

2023-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104804

(In reply to gabriel.crabbe from comment #24)
Thanks for helping me to untangle the text! I can see now that the solution is
simple.

I will write out the explanations here (to document the change).

The help page should be:

---

Export outlines

Select to export all headings in Writer documents as PDF bookmarks.

-

1. Reason to use "bookmarks": As an empirical fact, LO headings appear in
Adobe Reader's in the "Bookmarks" section of the Reader's Navigation Pane, so
it seemed useful (for naïve users like me) to have this consistency in the
terminology between Reader and the LO help.

2. Reason why the part about Table of Contents and hyperlinks is dropped: The
"Export outlines" option has no influence in this case, so this information is
irrelevant. Furthermore, hyperlinks (whether from Table of Contents or from
simply inserting a hyperlink seem to be exported to PDF documents, without
having to set any options). (I could not find this information documented
anywhere. Maybe it is worth mentioning somewhere?)

NextStyle(S1), S3 = NextStyle(S2) etc.

That in itself is rather confusing, and see also below.

> Eyal, you pretend to be a power user, but have you really seen the page
> style use context or used them.

Well, I'm a power user in the sense that I've used LO for nearly 10 years and
steadily for 8; I do a lot of QA work; I support other users both with LO and
MSO (especially Writer); and I use LO to author both short and long, simple and
complex documents, using styles and little direct formatting.

But, indeed, I have so far not found use for page styles. Maybe it's just a
fluke; maybe it's page styles are a bit limited (no inheritence - bug 41316, no
composition - bug 149271); maybe the list of page styles available by default
contains many confusing and/or redundant entries; and maybe a combination of
all of the above.

I'll comment only on your numbered point with which I don't agree. So, agree
with (1.),

> 2. ... Endnote is the page style used when Writer lays out the end notes;

But:

I. It's on the list of page styles for non-endnote pages. The user is somewhat
baffled by being offered to make their page into an "Endnote page". Even if
it's on the list - why is there no marking or designation of styles which get
auto-applied?

II. Why do endnotes get a special page style, while, say, bibliographies don't?
Or Tables of Contents? This is not just arbitrary (a problem in itself), but
makes the actual use of this page style even less obvious, since the user needs
to create the mental image of the seemingly-arbitrary partial choice of what
gets a special page style.

III. Why is it "Endnote" rather than "Endnotes"?

> 7. Index is clearly intended for indexes

Points (I) and (II) about Endnote apply here.

> 5. ... Footnote has the same role when you chose to position all your
> footnotes
> at end of document.

You can't. The notes you position at the end of your document are _endnotes_.
Specifically, LibreOffice doesn't pretend footnotes are endnotes or vice-versa.

> These page styles
> are provided so that end-of-document notes have some default page style.

That's not true, or not consistently true because:

I. They would have a default page style anyway - Default Page Style.

II. Point (II) about Endnote applies here: Other entities which also need their
own page style don't have it.

> 4. First Page may have an ambiguous name because you meet "first" pages
> nearly everywhere in a document: the very first page, chapter first pages, …
> Perhaps a better name would have been Front Cover or Title Page. It is
> automatically followed by Default Page Style (Next Style configuration)

I. "Ambiguous" and "nonsensical" are pretty close...

II. Page (sequence) styles already have dispensation for different behavior on
the first page of the sequence. Not for all features, but for headers and
footers. That makes First Page at least partially redundant. Also, the fact
that one can use a page break and have a completely unrelated page (sequence)
style on the first page, renders this slightly more redundant.

So, the page sequence style here is actually "Default Page Style + Different
settings on the first page which go beyond what you can achieve by modifying
the Default page style". ... except that these different settings are
arbitrary, i.e. they will be whatever happened to change in the Default Page
Style of the current template, but not be changed in the First Page style.
That's rather nonsensical to me.

I didn't mention (4.) on my initial comment. It is actually an illustration of
a way to define a page sequence style, rather than a meaningful style on its
own. Until 41316 is implemented - I really think it should be off the list.
After that - maybe it's tolerable, but I still think another way should be
found to educate the user about defining NextStyle-based "cascades" of
individual page styles.

> but is not automatically applied
> because there is no obligation to isolate TOC,

I. There is no obligation to isolate Endnotes either - they could start on the
last page of text, with no page break.

II. While there is no _obligation_, there is an _option_ to isolate ToCs.

> Alphabetical Index or other
> Table of … in a separate group of pages (think of chapter partial TOCs
> following a chapter heading).

What about partial indices or bibliographies following chapters?

> 9. and 10. Left Page and Right Page are a consolidated pair because they are
> linked by their Next Style property.

They are nonsensical though. Giving an example of

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153867] UI checkboxes are invisible with custom dark windows theme enabled.

Are you sure LibreOffice 7.5 with this "enhanced support for detection of os/DE
color" handling all os/DE colors correctly and applies the right fg/bg values
for the checkboxes?
In LibreOffice 7.5, checkboxes are the only UI element that has this issue with
Penumbra theme. All other UI elements look correct with this theme.
LibreOffice 7.4 handled the default os/DE colors too, and the checkboxes looked
correct with Penumbra theme there (light checkmark, on a dark background, as
you can see in my screenshots)
I do not see such issue with Penumbra theme in other software that respond to
the os/DE colors.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104804] Help on "Export Bookmarks" and help on "Export bookmarks as named destinations" is not clear enough

2023-02-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104804

--- Comment #24 from gabriel.cra...@outlook.com ---
(In reply to sdc.blanco from comment #22)
> 1. First "bookmarks" in first sentence probably should be changed, but to
> what?

If the help text is correct, and "all table of contents entries (for which you
did assign hyperlinks)" are exported in addition to headings, perhaps "table of
content entries" is the most accurate description, as they include headings.
You can then add the "for which you did assign hyperlinks" qualifier (which, to
be honest, I did not understand) in the body.

> 2. Second sentence: Add "PDF" in front of "bookmarks"

The preferred nomenclature in the PDF Reference is "outline" (singular:
"outline item"), probably to avoid any confusion with the term "bookmarks"
(although it is also accepted). Please consider using "outline" here,
especially since "bookmarks" means something entirely different in LO, but
"outline" doesn't.

> 3. change "outline paragraphs" to "headings".

"headings" is good.
