[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154175] Drop Caps Buggy
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154175 --- Comment #1 from larrybradley --- Created attachment 185942 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=185942=edit To illustrate Drop Caps problem in Styles Setting Note that the style of the last paragraph is the same as the previous three paragraphs; also, be aware that after the Default Style was changed to add Drop Caps, only the first paragraph actually returned a Drop Cap. I had to manipulate the next two paragraphs to achieve a Drop Cap, and the last paragraph, the one that starts with N ow, not only did not automatically generate a Drop Cap as I defined it in the Default Paragraph style, no amount of trying to delete the paragraph and start over; re-applying the Style; or trying to change the singular paragraph style resulted in a Drop Cap. Never had this problem on several hundred documents created prior to the 7.4.5.1. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154175] New: Drop Caps Buggy
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154175 Bug ID: 154175 Summary: Drop Caps Buggy Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.4.5.1 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: larrywbrad...@gmail.com Description: Changed default style to include Drop Caps, but the new style is not "sticky," in that the next paragraph does not automatically appear in Drop Caps as defined in the style settings.Instead, there is the first letter of the word in plain text (not double the size, followed by a space that corresponds to the Distance from Text setting in the Drop Caps style setting. This is but one of many Styles glitches that are common to LO 7.4.5.1 and higher, but not to earlier versions. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Change Default Paragraph Style to add Drop Cap. 2.Create first paragraph after changing style and Drop Cap automatically begins at start of sentence as it should. 3.At the end of the first paragraph, hit the Enter/Return key to start a new paragraph; the first word of the new paragraph is not in Drop Caps, though it looks like the program recognizes it ought to be. For example, let's say the second paragraph begins with the word Now. Also, the space to text setting is 0.02. When starting a new paragraph, Instead of the N being two lines high, it is regular text (one line high), followed by the 0.02 spacing to the next letter. In other words, the first word in the paragraph is: N ow . Trying to correct it by selecting the Default style again does nothing. Creating a new style and applying it does not work. Applying drop caps to the Paragraph instead of the Default style does not work. Actual Results: Drop-cap style definition fails to invoke automatically when starting a new paragraph. See description above. Expected Results: Expect to get Drop Caps when starting a new paragraph that has Drop Caps defined in the Style settings. BTW, I am a very experienced LO user, and I have had occasion hundreds of times to use Drop Caps, never had a problem until 7.4.5.1. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: [Information automatically included from LibreOffice] Locale: en-US Module: TextDocument [Information guessed from browser] OS: Linux (All) OS is 64bit: yes -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152406] macOS Calc: Scrolling: scrollbar showing wrong position resulting in unscrollable document
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152406 --- Comment #20 from Telesto --- (In reply to steve from comment #19) > > When its in the wrong position and you click on the thumb of the scrollbar, > > does it highlight that thumb in the same "wrong position" (i'm trying to get > > a hint if its wrongly positioned or not getting redrawn) I observe this 1. Open new Calc document 2. Type AAA into cell A1 3. Swipe couple of rows down 4. Swipe up again Result: Swiping up (so vertically) row by row is fine, except if keep swiping up as if you could scroll beyond A1 (as if there where a negative reach A -1 A-2) the scroll gets converted to a horizontal scroll right. Same happens scrolling horizontally. If scroll beyond A1 to the imaginary negative reach -A1 -B1 you start scrolling down (whereas the swip is going left) So the swip exceeding the spreadsheet gets converted instead of ignoring swips because end of scrolling range. Scrolling by pressing left mouse and dragging the scrollbar is working as expected. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 127138] GNOME / KDE dark system themes don't automatically enable corresponding dark icon themes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127138 --- Comment #19 from Jeff Fortin Tam --- Also, while I'm at it, I'll reuse my thoughts I had posted on #153618, so that they are not lost: The fact that the UI bothers the user with manually choosing from a long list of light or dark themes is nonsense from a UX standpoint in a world where themes are complete; ideally, to be approved for inclusion (and to remain) in LibreOffice from here on, icon themes should be required to have both light and dark variants; then the UI should hide this complexity from the user, by just letting the user pick "Automatic (%theme_name)" or picking a preferred complete icon theme (ex: "Breeze" or "Colibre") but not a specific icon theme subvariant (ex: no "Breeze" vs "Breeze Dark", only Breeze)... then the app would automatically pick the theme's light or dark icon theme variant depending on its UI light/dark theme state. Apparently the "Elementary" icon theme in LibreOffice doesn't have a dark variant at the moment; in #153618 I also stated my personal opinion that the "Colibre" icon theme is universally suitable & usable (in terms of UX), and could be a much better default than "Elementary" on the GTK version for Linux, even though Colibre is the official LibreOffice icon theme used mainly on Windows. It's just _that good_, in my view. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127138 --- Comment #18 from Jeff Fortin Tam --- Guillaume, I'm not sure how you can test this properly with GNOME 3.36.x, because on the GNOME side, the freedesktop dark mode was only implemented in GNOME 42 and newer, in the spring of 2022. This is not really about using Adwaita-dark or Yaru-dark anymore, that's the old way (which was pretty much impossible for applications to deal with, and I can't imagine LibreOffice handling this cleanly either). More details on how it works nowadays: https://blogs.gnome.org/alexm/2021/10/04/dark-style-preference/< https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/Initiatives/-/wikis/Dark-Style-Preference Unless you're doing something _really_ special with your OS, you will need a much more recent OS to effectively test this (maybe in a VM or liveUSB or a spare computer or something). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154163 --- Comment #3 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu) --- (was about to say something very similar to Seth when our comments conflicted. Here's the updated version.) Keeping it short in these function models is justified, but the use is inconsistent throughout. - 23 times "Degrees freedom": https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/more/core/sc/inc/scfuncs.hrc?full=%22degrees+freedom%22 - 4 times "Degrees of Freedom": https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/more/core/sc/inc/scfuncs.hrc?full=%22degrees+of+freedom%22 The important thing is sticking to one form (and case) for all functions. The inconsistency is noticeable for example when going from function CHISQ.INV to CHISQ.INV.RT, which us two different forms. Adding "of" is not a big cost space-wise, but there are lots more example of more drastic abbreviations (for example STDEV for standard deviation), so it doesn't shock me. I agree with Seth that we might not want to extend these. But I do think we need to fix the inconsistency. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154163 --- Comment #2 from sdc.bla...@youmail.dk --- Thanks for your query Tuomas. I agree with you that "degrees freedom" is not common in everyday communication, but in this case, the phrase is being used as a kind of "tip" to explain statistical functions in Calc. To see it "in action" -- 1. Open Calc document. 2. Insert Function (or Ctrl+F2) 3. Search TINV (or FINV, or F.D or F.I, etc.) 4. Select one of the functions (e.g., TINV). Actual: See on right side of dialog window the function with "Degrees freedom". The strings that appear in the right side (and that you found in your search) come from sc/inc/scfuncs.hrc In this context, I believe users understand/recognize, maybe even prefer "Degrees freedom". You can read about these functions in https://help.libreoffice.org/7.6/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060182.html (for F*) https://help.libreoffice.org/7.6/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060185.html (for t-tests) where @Adolfo, we can see another problem: "DegreeFreedom" appears throughout. I assume it is not worth triggering retranslation just to add a space -- but I will leave that decision to others. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154165] Mean Value Line in wrong place when using Logarithmic scale

The step in extending the y axis range is important as the "mean" line is placed at a ridiculously high value. Please note that for testing in a version that works as expected, one probably has to trigger and update of chart (e.g. in OOo 3.3, I had to double-click on the chart for the line to jump back to where it should be, intersecting the y axis at 5.3). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
