[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156292] New: Unknown words cannot be added to Spanish (or other) dictionary

2023-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156292

Bug ID: 156292
Summary: Unknown words cannot be added to Spanish (or other)
dictionary
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: h.mul...@darloup.com

I have a basic model which I use to write in Spanish. It corrects the Spanish
vocabulary and the Spanish grammar 100% perfectly.

But, sometimes, I have words that are not recognised). Mainly proper nouns
which are thus underlined in red.

I therefore try to use the option "Add to dictionary" if I use them often.

When I click on the option "Add to dictionary", I am given two options:

- add to standard.dic
- add to -LT-es-ES/internal.dic

Ìt does not matter WHICH option I chose (I've tried both), the new words are
NOT kept/recognised for future reference. They are still underlined in red, not
only in the current document, but also in any future documents whenever I type
these words.

Dear Zoltan Laszlo,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Dear Iceflower S,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Not sure, but this could be a duplicate of Bug 153131 but on a different system
and OS. The problem looks similar, but I didn't see it when I first did the
search for this problem existing already.
I also tried this with Clipboard History turned off. No effect.
Also, clarifying: this problem did not exist when I first installed Calc and
Java. It started appering on an update of either windows or Java or Calc, but I
do not know the update history to identify in which update it started.
Java 371 is visible and enabled in Calc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156290] New: In Calc/Win11, copying any cell hangs with 100% CPU (not corrupt user profile)

2023-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156290

Bug ID: 156290
Summary: In Calc/Win11, copying any cell hangs with 100% CPU
(not corrupt user profile)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: xxb...@gmail.com

Description:
Running Calc from the Windows shortcut:
1. A blank sheet appears normally. Or, open any file.
2. Highlight and copy any cell.
3. Try to click on another cell.
--> Calc always hangs and CPU goes to 100%. It never becomes responsive and
must be right-click closed from the taskbar.

On the Internet, I have seen a number of reports about this that indicate it is
either a Java problem or a corrupt user profile. I have followed the
instructions for deleting and recreating a new user profile and it does not
help However, if Calc is run From the command line using SCALC, even with the
same user profile, the problem does not occur. The following is my workaround
for getting Calc to run without crashing: from a CMD prompt:

C:>"C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\scalc.exe"
-env:UserInstallation=file:///c:/Users/blk/appdata/roaming/libreoffice/4/user

Any UserInstallation= will work to avoid the problem. In fact, just running
from a command prompt with no parameters at all using scalc.exe avoids the
hang. It only happens with the windows shortcut to the app that causes the
problem. It just points at the default location.

Uninstalling and reinstalling Java will not help.

Steps to Reproduce:
See above Description.

Actual Results:
Software hang.

Expected Results:
No hang, such as when started using scalc.exe

  Hardware: All

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: trivial

 Component: UI

  Reporter: dche...@proton.me

Description:
I was mistakenly trying to save a file with a date formatted with a slash, and
was getting an unhelpful "Nonexistent object. Path to the file does not exist."
error. I had looked around for advice on this issue, only to find other bugs,
such as #90189 and forum posts regarding network file shares.
In the same vein as #95336, it would be a great improvement to user experience
if the warnings were more specific when there are invalid character issues,
instead of leaving them with a vague error that returns unhelpful results when
looking it up. Thank you.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a LibreOffice document
2. Try to save it as a new file
3. Mistakenly enter an invalid file name character such as `/`

Actual Results:
A somewhat unhelpful error, "Nonexistent object. Path to the file does not
exist.", which may lead one to overestimate their issue, is given.

Expected Results:
The user should get an error warning them of their mistake, instead of being
directed towards unrelated issues.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 154560] Data validity bugs in custom formulas and drop-down lists.

2023-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154560

The problem appears to be a matter of file format used. I did not notice until
saving my experimental edits of the test case under a different filename but
... the test case file submitted is saved in xlsx format ... not ods format!

Once the (unedited) test case file is saved in ods format, then closed and
reopened: ... all data validity formula used in column A behave just as you
would expect!

SO .. I'm not sure any of the following helps but it is included for
thoroughness...

There is definitely something strange happening with the formula drawn in from
an xlsx format file and used for the validity rule in column A but it is _not_
a problem with any circular reference.

The "circular reference" is legitimate because the validity rule has the type:
Allow: Custom
which necessarily takes a
Formula
and that formula cannot possibly produce an input value-dependent result if the
input value is not referred to within the formula. ... n'est-ce pas?

Just about any edit of the formula causes the formula to behave as you would
expect. i.e. an input that is not found in the list (from column A on the
second sheet) is allowed but an input that matches any value already in that
list is disallowed.

Indeed selecting any cell in Parameters column A and then opening Data Validity
then cutting and pasting the _very_same_formula_ then saving that validity rule
causes the desired behaviour.

... ah hah! file format of test case is xlxs not ods !!

I should be more accurate. It is not really unformatted text, but rather the
text with its formatting (e.g. bold). What it is not able to paste is a
complete "cell" (or range of cells), but its content. For example, a cell's
background color will not be pasted in this way.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143091] Windows 10 'Clipboard History' paste into calc cell requires cell selection and also edit cursor focus, and results in cell having an extra line of text

2023-07-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143091

The way it is working for Calc is:

1. Click on the formula bar inputwin, or enter edit mode ([F2]).
2. [WIN]+[V]
3. Click on the desired text to paste.
4. [ENTER].

I don't have to delete any LF or CR characters, but probably that depends on
what exactly is being originally copied.

Apparently, Calc is only supporting "unformatted text" in this mode. IDK
whether there is some way to activate additional formats in general. IIUC, MSO
supports more than just "unformatted text" for pasting from this mode of the
Windows Clipboard.

(In reply to Sophie Sipasseuth from comment #4)

> I don't find the clipboard of Calc.
> I only succeeded to copy-paste, one element after another.

Windows 10+ includes an option to have a history of multiple clipboards. Press
[WIN]+[V] to activate it (or search your Windows settings). Then [CTRL]+[C]
should add copied items to the clipboard history instead of replacing the prior
clipboard in memory. Then, instead of using [CTRL]+[V], use [WIN]+[V] in order
to select what to paste.

Look for the "Add an attachment" link in the page of the report bug 156288.
Once you click on that link, you will see a button to add one file, which can
be an ods file, with some additional text for the comment. After you click
"submit", the file will be attached to the report and a new comment will be
added. Repeat the steps for the second file.

Please eliminate any non-essential data in the files, making the file as
minimal as possible, just to replicate the problem.

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission

I wonder whether there is some crash information generated by LO or by your OS
that you could add to the report.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 71550] Other: Empty backups

Created attachment 188379
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=188379=edit
abc...odg: 243 character long named file that failes autosave, leaving 0-sized
file

Since autosave is now the default in 7.6, the steps are simply to open the
document and make a change. Every 10 minutes another 0-sized file is created
(assuming a modification was made to trigger autosave).

The problem in this particular case is that it is trying to create a lock file,
and adding the lock prefix pushes the filename beyond the 255 character limit.

And others have calculated the time used to type the decimal point.

For some of us, the burden is not the time or effort of actually
typing the decimal point. The hard part is the concentration required
to inhibit a decades-old habit. For me, that habit dates back to the
days of punched cards. (Yes, my beard *is* a fine shade of white,
thankyouverymuch. How did you guess?)

That said, I am not a big user of Calc, so my approval of this
proposal should count as some small fraction of one vote.

Terry.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143091] Windows 10 'Clipboard History' paste into calc cell requires cell selection and also edit cursor focus, and results in cell having an extra line of text

I tried to reproduce this bug, but I don't understand how can I do this step:

 4. Go to A1 and copy the 1 to the clipboard, Go to B1 and copy the 2 to
the clipboard, Go to C1 and copy the 3 to the clipboard.

I don't find the clipboard of Calc.
I only succeeded to copy-paste, one element after another.

Could you, please, specify precisely this step?
