[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88108] Feature request - Option to lock formatting on cells and/or entire sheet, while allowing editing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88108 --- Comment #8 from BDF --- It would be very helpful if you could lock conditional formatting as well. My issue is the following: I work in a field where operation/mission information is stored in an table file (it's actually an Excel file, but 1) the same is true for LibreOffice; 2) we switched to LibreOffice in August so in the upcoming future this is where it's at). The (Excel) file has a good amount of conditional formatting to ensure people put in the correct values. Because the file is stored in a shared 'HLC Notes' room and because that system is buggy AF people save the file locally, enter the values there and then just copy the information to the shared file. And here starts the problem: People don't only copy the values, but also the conditional formatting which turns into several versions of the format with just different fields where they apply. (I know they *could* copy only the values, but the group includes people who don't know or just don't care) My suggestion and what would really help is if you could just lock conditional formatting while every cell can be manipulated freely. (Not sure if this is a good fit here or if it should go into their own report) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156995] Selecting an embedded SVG is extremely slow in Linux
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156995 --- Comment #11 from Peter Bleszynski --- I'm curious why this bug is associated with OLE. A simple curve drawn in Impress or Draw, then duplicated ~1000 times and grouped causes extreme slowness in select, de-select, Navigator pane updates, file save, etc. The slowness seems to be many times worse in Linux than in Windows and MacOS. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Added new screenshot to illustrate the issue. On this HiDPI screen, I use a global scale factor of 200%. Yes, that makes stuff a little larger than "normal". But not by much. Setting the global scale to anything lower than 150%, everything on this system is too small to read. In the screenshot, note the size of the collapse button, in relation to normal 12pt text? Or also in relation to the toolbar buttons. I think the button should be about the same height (and width) of a normal text line. Or about half the height and width of the toolbar buttons you see on this screen. Or in other words, just apply the global scale factor. Right now, it seems, that the button is fixed pixels and doesn’t scale at all. This makes it unusable on HiDPI screens. --- Version: 7.5.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 9f56dff12ba03b9acd7730a5a481eea045e468f3 CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: de-CH (de_CH); UI: en-US Calc: threaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157091 Bug ID: 157091 Summary: Image inserted as character rotates wrong Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.6.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mihai.vasiliu...@gmail.com Description: If you insert an image with anchor "As Character" and then try to rotate it 90 degrees, the image is cropped as the boundry does not resize to fit the rotated image. Further resizing of the image results in weird behaviour. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a new Writer document 2. Insert a wide image (easier to demonstrate with wider images) 3. Set the anchor mode "As Character" (if not already set in options) 4. Rotate the image 90 degrees using the buttons from the toolbar. 5. Notice that the image does rotate, but the boundry does not, so it appears cropped. Actual Results: The image and boundry do not corespond, they are different sizes. Expected Results: The boundry should respect the image size/rotation and show the complete image instead of cropping. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: After the rotation, if you change the anchor to any other type, the images will be displayed correctly, but if you go back to As Character it crops again. But doesn't the label deserve to be changed in either case (i.e., cleaned-up or not)? > I'd keep the burden low for l10n. Agreed. Also agree that studying help is usually needed (i.e., no expectation that each option is transparent, only sufficiently meaningful to remind about the function (if you already know the meaning) or to indicate enough about the likely function, to decide whether worth looking further at the help). Most options seems to have an action verb. Propose the following changes: A. "Consider wrapping styles when positioning objects" Two issues here. First, according to help [1], it seems like it would usually be preferred to have this option ON, but afaict, the default is that this option is OFF. Is the help wrong? or maybe the default should be changed? If I understand the idea here, then it seems better to change the label to "Use OpenOffice 1.1 wrapping style to position objects" (and to change the backend so that when it is ON, then the "old" behavior is used). (would make it more consistent with the other "Use OpenOffice.org 1.1..." B. Protect form Help is missing. (I do not know what what this function does, but given that it is not documented, then seems better to make a reasonable label, and then add appropriate help.) The "No longer protects whole document" seems irrelevant (or is trying to move the help/tooltip function into the UI). C. Word-compatible - (bug Bug 104668) Also missing help. I could not understand the discussion in bug 104668) Is this another case of "Use OpenOffice.org 1.1..."? (if enabled)? (maybe do not need to mention Word-compatible at all) D. "Render non-breaking spaces (NBSP) as standard-space-width (off for fixed size)" Also missing help. This is bug 41652. If I understand correctly then isn't it: Do not render non-breaking spaces as fixed-width space The "off for fixed size" seems like it should be in the help, not the UI. E. "Expand word space on lines with manual line breaks in justified paragraphs" > "Justify lines with manual line breaks (in justified paragraphs)" (could skip this change if too many changes already, but I believe the meaning of the proposal is easier to guess, while the current version is tough to follow) [1] https://help.libreoffice.org/24.2/en-US/text/shared/optionen/01041000.html?DbPAR=WRITER -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157089] New: A question about lack of what seems to me a very essential feature for LibreOffice Calcs.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157089 Bug ID: 157089 Summary: A question about lack of what seems to me a very essential feature for LibreOffice Calcs. Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ayd...@gmail.com Description: Hello. Without exaggeration it was shocking to me to find that this feature is not in Calcs. But because this feature seems to me essential i don't think it was missed but rather there is reason not to support it and im curious about the reason. So in Google Sheets, the product i started my spreadsheet experience with, once i wanted to include in my array all cells from columns A, B, C and all rows beginning from 4 and down. Intuitively i tried "A4:C", and it worked. I did not read about it anywhere, it just makes sense. Then i was, mildly put, surprised to find this does not work in LibreOffice Calcs. I was like, there is no way. Out of curiosity i tried this in other products, WPS Office, OnlyOffice, even MS Office. It didn't work. Ok, at this point there has to be a reason, can someone please explain why? btw i tried this a while ago so maybe it is now supported by some of the products. Thank you. Steps to Reproduce: 1.ranges like "a3:a", "a1:4" Actual Results: not working Expected Results: should be supported Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: No other information -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
