[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157738] New: Hidden icons in single toolbar mode don't do anything when clicked

2023-10-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157738

Bug ID: 157738
Summary: Hidden icons in single toolbar mode don't do anything
when clicked
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: joey.joey...@gmail.com

Description:
Icons that don't fit within the toolbar (indicated by ">>" on the top-right)
does not do anything when clicked.

So far, I observed it happening only in Writer.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Change UI to "Single Toolbar" (View > User Interface > Single Toolbar)
2. Resize window so that not all icons fit in toolbar
3. Click the ">>" button in the top right to reveal icons that don't fit
4. Click on any icon inside the ">>" menu
5. Whatever icon clicked does not take effect

Actual Results:
Clicking on an icon inside the ">>" menu should take effect. In this case, it
does not.
Example: let's say the bold icon is inside the ">>" menu, but when clicked,
text does not turn bold

Expected Results:
Clicking icons inside the ">>" menu should have worked.

Reproducible: Always

--- Comment #2 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu)

1. Please don't ask to "fix it now!", this is quite rude and many people work
on a volunteer basis for this project.
2. You talk about converting from PDF to PNG but your command converts to PDF.
Please clarify.
3. Please test with the latest release

Thank you

   Summary: Small Caps Style Issue

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rob...@iafrica.com

Description:
Small Caps in style is inconsistent.
In the format menu, there are two things one must do: select capitalize every
word and select small capitals.
This cannot be done in the style, there it is an either/or option.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.type text, use Heading 2
2.First word has normal cap, rest is small caps
3.select text
4.use menu to change to capitalize every word

Actual Results:
does not appear to be possible to do both in the style

Expected Results:
should be possible, is unnecessary extra work. Same could be achieved by simply
having a different size in the style

Reproducible: Always

This could be bibisected to the following range in bibisect-43all:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/log/?qt=range=c7692ae82b4c81c2ea8a9e3ee496ee525c0d44f4..558476135865d9ae7b8801a82c177fd1098386ff

There is a possible commit in that range, but it's an import fix. And indeed,
opening an RTF produced by an old version of LO in a recent LO version shows a
buggy wrap, too, which means this was never okay, just the incorrect import hid
the issue.

Dear libreoffice,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';

Seems to be fixed in master build, so closing ticket as WORKSFORME. Attached is

included, and the issue still occurs, feel free to reopen ticket.

Steps:
1. Open attachment
2. Tools > Autocorrect > Apply

OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: peeto...@ualberta.ca

Description:
For a few work flows I have it would be really useful to have a smart fill
feature that can iterate over multiple different inputs and fill in a given
direction. For example if I had a row that was A [] [] [] B [] [] [] C [] []
[], where [] notes a blank cell, it would be nice to have a Fill Cells option
that fills based on the most recent filled cell. eg. the desired output from
the example would be A A A A B B B B C C C C. I am not sure what to call this
function, maybe "Iterative Fill"?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select a range of cells
2.Sheet -> Fill Cells -> Down OR Right OR Left OR Up
3.

Actual Results:
Based on the above example using the current fill options I get A A A A A A A A
A A A A

Expected Results:
Based on the above example I would like A A A A B B B B C C C C

Reproducible: Always

this is a typical Windows shell problem... which M$ should fix (for a long
time), but off course, they never will, as they don't care about software that
does not bring in money.

so I guess it could maybe solved by totally changing the way OO or libreOffice
updates...

instead of uninstalling the current version and then installing the new one, it
could be implemented in the future versions to just upgrade the changed files
in the existing install directory.

in that way the Taskbar lnk will just stay how it was, including the pinned
documents to it. as it is not directly aware of a changed shortcut...

a lot of other windows software does its updates that way, to get around that
retarded windows shell problem.

just a proposal..?

version is actually 7.6.0.3 but i have encountered this issue with all versions
i have used.
could only find one instance of a question on google re: a ttf font not working
in spellcheck and the poster of the question was outright dismissed.
when i import a manuscript file, sometimes spellcheck works for the first third
or so - red underlines visible - but no new spell checking is done as i type.
i can open a new document and deliberately misspell a line of text, and
depending on the font selected, i will have some fonts underlined and some not.
i tried reinstalling a font, and it worked briefly in spellcheck, and then the
gd program stopped spell checking again.
i have reset user profile, and made sure all proper language boxes and defaults
are checked. all english language dictionaries that i need are installed. i am
a published writer and i need a spellcheck that works. i guess i will just pay
and get something good

I observe the same thing, original attachment 119717 had a white highlight on
the last character, which is what would hide part of the previous character.

The answer is YES. Switching to single line spacing just reduces vspacing
slightly, not changing the overall effect (which you can now see in the
screenshots).

However - something weird is happening. I hooked up my laptop to a 1920x1080
monitor - and the vspace inconsistencies persist! So - the difference between
the two systems must lie elsewhere. Not sure what it is...

As for slide 28 - I can't reproduce the problem there for some reason, so let's
focus on slide 14.

Ok thank you.

Now about your problematic file, I don't think we can do anything.
For the rest, as Alex already indicated we can only try to reproduce this to
see if it's an LO problem or a human mistake and for this, we need a step by
step process with a file.
