Aside from duplicate, you can avoid the jump by selectively unlocking and
undocking the offending contextual toolbar(s).

And also worth looking at using the Contextual Single UI MUFFIN user interface
in conjunction with the undocked TBs.

In turn being reworked for bug 125040 to make the Single Toolbar user interface
context sensitive across the UI modes.

I definitely LOVE this feature!!!

Thank you so much Jim and compliments to have been able to achieve such a great
result!

A quick note: on master documents (ODM) the option to highlight the styles
doesn't appear, but it's a minor issue. Should I open a bug for that?

Anyway THANK YOU again and again!

2023-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157866

Bug ID: 157866
Summary: Toolbar dis/appearance must neither shift nor scale
the slide display
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

When we enter the scope of a table or a shape's textbox, there is usually a
shift in the position of the slide, and slide elements, on the screen. This
occurs due to the appearance or disappearance of toolbars, e.g. Table or Text
Formatting.

Regardless of whether the toolbars should or shouldn't appear - their
appearance must _not_ move anything on the screen (and not rescale the slide).
Instead, they may occlude the top or bottom part of what's currently visible -
with no movement.

The movement is jarring and confusing.

So, it seems there's only been very preliminary work, since no theme
corresponds to what we see on the Master slide, nor does selecting a theme
affect the Master slide or the document. But - it's nice to know someone has

Today I tried the issue again and it did not appear again (LO Version versions
mentioned above).

The Linux operating system has undergone the usual updates in the meantime.

I also checked the issue with the Windows 10 operating system and the version
mentioned above for that. Of course Windows 10 also undergoes regular updates.
The bug did not show up again there either.

I also tried it with the mouse connected to all available USB ports on the
computer and on the docking station. I also checked it with the other mouse
(same model as mentioned before). The issue did not show up again.

I mark this issue therefore as RESOLVED. Is FIXED the right other attribute for
this issue?

If it shows up again (hopefully never!), I'll reopen it.

Do you mean a sample document '.odt'? The problem is not in the document view,
it works fine there. The problem occurs only in the sidebar > (preview)
'character style (even if a new document is created).
I think it is also independent of the template (.ott). Because if I open a new
document with a default LibreOffice template, and I modify the background-color
to some style ('character style' tab), the same thing happens, the background
color looks good on the page, but it doesn't is displayed in the sidebar.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157864] New: Introduce presentation and/or master color scheme support

2023-10-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157864

Bug ID: 157864
Summary: Introduce presentation and/or master color scheme
support
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

A presentation often uses a scheme, or palette, of interplaying colors -
through their use in various styles, non-style color choices, like for some
animation effects, or even the color palette of the slide background image(s).
Also, while bug 152652 is unresolved and style categories are missing, direct
formatting.

I often want to create a presentation from a template, but while I like the
layout of the template, I feel the color scheme / palette is not right for me.
Maybe I want greens with cyan decorations instead of Reds with Orange.

I'm missing a dialog for editing the document "color scheme".

Note that style inheritance can't be used instead. This is both because we
don't support multiple inheritance of styles; and because an individual style
only contains one or two relevant colors, not a palette of them.

I'm not sure a color palette needs to be represented in the ODF or not; if it
isn't, UI for editing a color palette could collect its constituent colors from
various styles and put them together in a dialog, possibly with previews of the
interplay of the colors.

...Expected results: adjacent character font effect (bold, italic, colour) is

Well, you know I'm not of the opinion that we should do something just because
MSO does it, far from it :)
It was just a shortcut to say "we want to have the bullet/number colour follow
the character formatting of the text that directly follows, regardless of
component or order of action".

(In reply to Stéphane Guillou (stragu) from comment #5)
> Importantly, note that doing the same on page in Writer has the same result:

Well, now I notice that this is actually inconsistent. I just reported bug
157863 about it.

So +1 as well for bullet following character formatting set for the whole text
box (regardless of if it's applied before or after)

formatting (colour, bold, italic) depends on selection

Created attachment 190355

sample ODT

The bullet or numbering of a list inconsistently uses the formatting of an
adjacent character depending on what is selected when the list is toggled.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Create 3 paragraphs with the same text in each one
3. Apply a font colour to all text (other than Automatic)
4. In 1st paragraph: place cursor anywhere in paragraph (no selection), then
toggle ordered list
5. In 2nd paragraph: select part of the paragraph, then toggle ordered list
6. In 3rd paragraph: select the whole paragraph, then toggle ordered list

(Can also start at step 4 with example ODT.)

Result: the bullet / numbering only uses the character formatting of the
adjacent text if there is an active text selection. Using ordered lists, it is
also reproducible for italic or bold font effects.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community

Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US

Back in OOo 3.3, behaviour is a bit different: adjacent character formatting is
used only when the _whole_ paragraph is selection.
