- - -

I went into a folder in Explorer and:

- Right-Clicked on a Column > "More..."
- Enabled "Pages" column.

I then had same file in 3 different formats:

1. DOCX from Word
2. DOCX from Word->LibreOffice
3. ODT from LibreOffice

where:

1. # of Pages showed.
2. # of Pages showed.
3. NOTHING

> I confirm it, that it isn't possible with LO but with MS Word (also if you
> save LO-file as docx.

Hmmm... looks like that may have been fixed since 2020, because I saw a Page #
from an LO DOCX file.

!!!BUT!!!

Oddly, it was a:

- 412 page DOCX

but the "Pages" column showed:

- 217

and when I opened/resaved the Word->LibreOffice DOCX in LO again, the "Pages"
column then showed:

- 370

so there is definitely SOMETHING strange going on here with how the LO metadata
is calculated/saved.

In the DOCX's /docProps/app.xml file, I was able to find:

- 370

even though LO's status bar, at the time, said "Page 412 of 412".

> Not sure, if this is a bug or an enhancement request. I'm also not sure, if
> it is a bug of LO or not.

Seems like it's an Enhancement Request for the ODT filter to get Page #s out of
the ODT metadata.

So that Windows Explorer's "Pages" column can look inside the...

- ODT's meta.xml file

and grab the:

- meta:page-count

Dear Jos van den Oever,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144922] Navigator still shows items after paste to empty page & undo

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144922

--- Comment #7 from Jim Raykowski  ---
The tables that still show in the Navigator after undo are located in a
header/footer. It seems, in this case, tables located in a header/footer don't
get deleted when undo is done which causes them to show in the Navigator as
being in the document but not visible.

One solution is to not include in the Navigator Tables entries tables located
in a header/footer. It would be consistent with fields located in a
header/footer not being included in the Navigator Fields entries (bug 146490).

I have no problem filing similar bugs against other office suites, if they're
also missing this callout shape...

To be less facetious, though: You seem to be suggesting that LibreOffice avoid
technical (or usability) leadership among office suites since that hurts
compatibility. I disagree with such an argument on principle. At most,
compatibility mode toggles could be made to document-level/app-level
compatibility settings - like we have in Writer.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158063] New: Need compatibility options a-la-Writer

Bug ID: 158063
   Summary: Need compatibility options a-la-Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

Tools -> Options -> LibreOffice Writer -> Compatibility collects multiple
choices regarding compatibility with other writer-like apps: Old OpenOffice
versions and  MS Word.

While that dialog leaves much to be desired (see bug 157006) - Impress should
have one too, I believe. At the very least, this should cover:

* Animation effects unsupported by other apps
* Shapes not available/possible to draw in other apps

and I'm sure our developers can come up with a few more relevant settings.

Thank you Alain for your suggests.
In my 30 thousand code rows app, the general function structure is Basic -->
Array --> python --> Array --> Basic for improve the faster execution.
For me it is not good idea for each array value in Python call an LO API
service, maybe I will add a little number like :
round(x + 10**-(digits+3), digits), or the classic
Round = Int(x * 10 ^ digits + 0.5) / 10 ^ digits
What do you think? And about the bug (or incompatibility), it is not
correctable?

Such shapes can be created as custom shapes and provides as extension.

Perhaps we need a common place to collect shapes? Authors of one single shape
will likely not create an extension for it. But an extension that bundles all
such single shapes might be useful.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 155410] Scrolling is much slower in Writer 7.5 with gtk3 VCL in a document with lots of SVG and PNG images

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155410

--- Comment #21 from Roland Baudin  ---
I did another test with another document (test_complex_graphic.odp). This one
contains a big (silly) equation produced by TexMaths.

With gtk3, selecting the graphic image with the mouse takes a few seconds,
while it's much faster with qt5.

Here are the selection times with gtk3:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=grk3 /opt/libreoffice7.4/program/simpress => 1.5 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreoffice7.5/program/simpress => 8 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/simpress => 8 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreofficedev24.2/program/simpress => 6 s

And with qt5:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.4/program/simpress => < 1 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.5/program/simpress => < 1 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/simpress => < 1 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreofficedev24.2/program/simpress => < 1 s

So once again, we can see that gtk3 rendering is much slower than qt5
(especially in LO 7.5 and 7.6). The patch in LO dev24.2 improves things a bit,
but not much.

Note that in Inkscape, selecting the big graphic image is fast, so I think the
problem does not come from gtk3 itself, but probably from the gtk3 rendering
implemented in LibreOffice...

I don't recall here the LO versions I used, they are the same as in my previous
comment.

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=155410

--- Comment #19 from Roland Baudin  ---
OK, thanks for the patch!

I did another test: same hardware, same document, fresh LO profiles.

Here are the results:

Scrolling time:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreoffice7.4/program/swriter => 13.5 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreoffice7.5/program/swriter => 16.5 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/swriter => 16.5 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 /opt/libreofficedev24.2/program/swriter => 13.5 s

Comparison with qt5:

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.4/program/swriter => 7.5 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.5/program/swriter => 7 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/swriter => 7 s

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreofficedev24.2/program/swriter => 6.5 s

So as you can see, the patch from LO dev24.2 has clearly reduced the scrolling
time and now the performances are the same as in LO 7.4. Well done!

Yes, I have to add a separate table on each new page, but the first column has
to be the same on all of them. So, when the time in that column is changed, it
has to be done in parallel of all the other pages, or else you complete the
changes on one page and then have to manually replicate them by scrolling back
and forth with the risk of mistakes. I tried both, none of these options are
satisfactory.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66454] Letter wizard creates templates with missing user data fields (names, phone, email...)

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66454

--- Comment #16 from crptdng...@gmx.net ---
I have to confirm this error is still there unfixed in version
Version: 7.5.8.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 50(Build:2)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: kf5 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.utf8); UI: de-DE
Debian package version: 4:7.5.8-1
Calc: threaded

What is also annoying about the wizard is that it always wants to create a
template instead of straight away using the newly created letter as a single
document. There should be an option neither to create nor overwrite an existing
template but use the "wizarded sheet" directly as current document for letter
editing.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158062] New: CALC: changing cell format to date type does not fix #WERT! issue in aligning cell

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158062

Bug ID: 158062
   Summary: CALC: changing cell format to date type does not fix
#WERT! issue in aligning cell
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: crptdng...@gmx.net

Description:
After correcting the format of a cell that until then contains a date in
unformatted text writing to correct date type the formular of an aligning cell
does not update its value from "#WERT!" to value expected by formula in this
cell (year of the cell).

Steps to Reproduce:
1.CALC: Create a rather large table to track monthly financial expenses. Table
contains 6 columns. Second column is "Jahr" which uses formula JAHR(#cell) to
extract calender year of aligning column 3 that is labelled "Datum"

2. In cell C4240 place a date string in unformatted format but indicating a
valid date. Cell format currently is NOT "date" type. Date string is "Mi., 01.
Nov 2023" which is a date string taken from another CALC sheet copied, just the
format is not copied, only text, so in principle this is an exact date
formatted string and should be recognized as a date formatted string.

3. In cell B4240 place formula "=JAHR(C4240)" to extract calender year from
column C date formatted cells.

4. Change cell format of C4240 to date (right mouseclick-> "Zellen formatieren"
-> Datum, use entry that fully matches the date string, -> "OK"

Actual Results:
3. Cell B4240 correctly shows "#WERT!" as cell C4240 is not formatted as a date
format. (OK)
4. BUG: Cell B4240 fails and still shows "#WERT!" (NOK)

Expected Results:
4. Cell B4240 should now show value 2023 as this is the year-part of the date
string in C4240.

Workaround: in cell C4240 type exactly the same date string again. Cell B4240
will then magically switch to 2023 as expected before.

Apparently the option to change cell format is totally useless as somehow the
overlying processes are somehow not notified that the format of a cell has
changed and a new format was applied to it. This only happens after tediously
manually entering the whole cell again by typing the exact string over again.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 158061] New: Aspect ration doesn't work in the graphics styles

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=158061

Bug ID: 158061
   Summary: Aspect ration doesn't work in the graphics styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.0.0 alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ota.ha...@seznam.cz

Description:
If you want to apply styles to images and you'll set the target image size, the
keep aspect ratio requirement is ignored, making this property completely
useless.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.F11 - Frame Styles – Graphics – Edit Style… Type
2. Width: 5 cm
3. Height: Auto
4. Keep Ratio
5. OK
6. Insert – Image…
7. The inserted image is not the expected size, but that's okay. I doubleclick
on the "frame" style and then back on "graphics".

Actual Results:
Now the image has the correct width, but the height is completely wrong. I have
tried it also in LO Writer 7.6.

Expected Results:
The image has the correct width and the correct height.

Ajlittoz, please try as follows

1. Open your document, and open TOC dialog
2. Entries tab -> in structure place tabstop behind numbering -> OK
3. Edit PS "Contents 1": Before test 0,30" and first line -0,30"
4. Change paragraph alignment to justified (makes problem more obvious) -> OK

Result: Looks much better. What remains is that you can't place page number
right of heading text. This is at least annoying for every heading of 2 lines
or more. Couldn' find a dublicate.

So for me valid enhancement request

Hi Edil,

I suggest you use Calc rounding - Round, RoundDown, RoundUp - functions instead
of user defined functions:
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/scalc/01/04060106.html?=CALC

ScriptForge Session service ExecuteCalcFunction() method provides such
programming facility..
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/sbasic/shared/03/sf_session.html?DbPAR=BASIC
.. and is based on "com.sun.star.sheet.FunctionAccess" UNO service.

Refer to
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/sbasic/shared/calc_functions.html?DbPAR=BASIC#bm_id291592361063458
if you still require to resort to BASIC.

Hope that helps

This is not true. Most native Mac apps obey the system-wide keybindings.

(Btw, I highly recommend customizing the bindings to your liking. For a
comprehensive list of available actions, see
https://gist.github.com/zsimic/1367779.)

But yeah, it’s true that the customizations defined in LO should take
precedence, which doesn’t seem to be happening currently.

(In reply to steve from comment #3)
> Would you agree that the icon is incorrectly named and that should be
> changed?

I don’t think that the name of the command is the issue here. The issue is that
the command is not triggered. Instead, LO performs the system-wide action
assigned to the key combination.

This is how Unicode Bidirectional Text Algorithm works, the Arabic comma and
semicolon have different didirectional class leading in different behaviour in

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 145279] ByRef argument modified in called Sub is returned incorrectly

2023-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=145279

--- Comment #9 from Jean-Pierre Ledure  ---
The bug could be reproduced in:

Version: 7.6.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 56f7684011345957bbf33a7ee678afaf4d2ba333
CPU threads: 6; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: fr-BE (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

No reason to change the bug status IMHO.
