I thought you said that LO 7.x used to work for you.

Please check whether there are driver updates available for your system. Some
Skia issues are sometimes solved with that.

You comment 6 sounds as your whole OS crashing, not just LO. That was not the
impression from comment 0. Please clarify.

Please also test using LO menu Help > Restart in Safe Mode, with the version
you have now.

Additionally, please remember not to run 2 versions of LO simultaneously – you
can have 2 versions installed in parallel, but it is recommended not to run
them both at the same time. The same goes for LO and AOO; run only one of them
at a time.

Please report back about all these points, including about updating your
(graphic) drivers.

In the mean time, I am setting this report back to unconfirmed.

[Bug 159985] Changing Macro Security level should warn about the need to reload the file to apply the settings

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159985

I disagree.

When I work with many documents, and at some point, I open a specific document,
and realize that it requires a different security level. I modify the level,
and may want to reload that specific file. But I would hate to have a nagging
prompt.

The maximal tolerable level of nagging would be an infobar. My preferred
solution would be an infotip in the security dialog. No intrusive prompts.

[Bug 100632] SIDEBAR, FILEOPEN: Certain Position & Size fields in Sidebar are not filled for this SVG

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100632

=== German ===

Rest bleibt leer; etc.

=== EDraw - Sidebar - Fields for position and size are sometimes empty (white).

Procedure
The procedure can be repeated.
Insert a filled square (any other object is also possible).
All fields Position X, Y and Width Height show values.
Deselecting the object and immediately selecting it again (even several times)
retains the values in the fields.
If there is a pause of 2-3 seconds between deselecting and selecting, the 4
fields remain empty (time factor!).
After changing the position and size of the object, the values that were
created by changing the object are displayed again.
Examples:
Moving position X causes field X to be displayed again, the rest remains empty.
Dragging the object to a larger width will display the width again, the rest
will remain empty, etc.

There seems to be no logical order in the list of field types. Might be we
should order the fields by "numeric", "date and time", "text" and others. Also
alphabetical order will be better than the order in list box of the editor now.

This behavior is as old as OpenOffice Base exists.

I will set this one to NEW.

Invisibility is inappropriate of course (as Mike points out). But - why not
give a prompt for reloading documents? That could explain why it may be
important to reload. And the user could choose whether they want to (save and)
reload everything or nothing (and perhaps individual files? Not sure.)

(In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #10)
> I suggest even do it without saving all the unsaved changes ;-P

What about prompting the user about a reload?

Bug ID: 160113
Summary: Font scaling with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt6 incorrect

Screenshot of the incorrectly sized fonts

Hi there!

I have recently started using QT6 on this Arch machine, as it hit the stable
repositories. This particular workstation is using Wayland and has one QHD
monitor (0) set to a scaling factor of 150%, and a 4K monitor (1) set to a
scaling factor of 120%.

When using SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5, the font scaling is proper on all libreoffice
apps.

If I don't specify SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN, or set it to SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt6, the
fonts used by Libreoffice are way too big, making dialog windows unreadable.
There is a screenshot attached to show what I mean.

As another workaround, I can set scaling to 100% on both monitors, the fonts
are also normally sized. For day to day work, this is not a workable solution,
as scaling is the recommended way for dealing with HDPI monitors.

For now, I will be using SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5, and I will keep an eye on this
bug report.

this is something that bothers me since long editing texts.
Presently when I click into a text to edit, the I-Beam pointer stays on the

Dear Doug,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78470

Dear AngelBlueSky,

4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Bug 160110] New: LibreOffice Draw: smart hyperlinking within a document

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160110

Bug ID: 160110
Summary: LibreOffice Draw: smart hyperlinking within a document
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.2.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: yeohak...@hotmail.com

Description:
Hyperlinks are created for pages within the same document.

When new pages are inserted or deleted in between the 'calling' and 'target'
pages, the hyperlinks have to be redone all over.

It will be great if the hyperlinks are 'smart / active', i.e. if it was
originally linked to page 4, but now page 3 has been deleted, so the link
should now be to page 3, not page 4.

In other words, the hyperlink should link to the page, not the page number. Of
course, if the page has been deleted, then it will not work, fair enough.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hyperlink a text to another page in the same Draw document.
2. Add or remove page(s) in between these two pages.

Actual Results:
The hyperlink goes to the wrong page.

Expected Results:
The hyperlink should follow the original linked page, even if pages in between
had been added or deleted.

Reproducible: Always

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.2.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: yeohak...@hotmail.com

Description:
I need to add hyperlinks to jump around in the Draw document. However, I could
only add hyperlinks to text, not images or icons. This reduces the
attractiveness of the document.

Will be great if this feature is available in Draw.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Insert an image
2. Click on the image
3. Insert a hyperlink, and follow the steps.

Actual Results:
After all the clicking, the hyperlink does not get created!

Expected Results:
Active hyperlink on that image object.

[Bug 159885] the latest text editing version hangs unexpectedly in the middle of writing

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=159885

I am tempted to change this report back from WFM to unconfirmed. The fact that
Miguel cannot reproduce the problem does not mean that the problem is not there
or that it cannot be replicated by anyone else, or that the problem is uniquely
related to one corrupted profile.

@Paul,

Anyone trying to replicate this would need more info about your system. Please
open LO and go to menu Help > About; use the icon in the middle to copy the
info to the clipboard and then post a new comment here and paste the copied
info. There is more than just a version number.

Additionally, when you go to menu Help > Restart in Safe Mode, there is an
option to completely reset your user profile to "factory defaults", with 2
sub-items. Please check those 2 sub-items too, but BEWARE that any
customization you have had until that moment will be lost. There are also an
advance option in the same dialogue that allows you to save a backup of your
current profile before resetting it.

The reason to ask you to reset your profile is because you are able to work
normally in LO's Safe Mode, which suggests some kind of profile corruption, at
least potentially. There might be some other cause for your problem. In any
case, your situation might not be easy to replicate by other users, and
therefore not easy to resolve by a developer.

One potential semi-random test is to go to menu Tools > Options > Lode/Save >
General > Save AutoRecovery information every 10 minutes and disable that check
box.

An additional possible test could be to uninstall the current version of LO you
currently have, and re-install the latest 7.6. version (ATM 7.6.5). I am not
suggesting this as a real solution, but as a possible test (only if resetting
your profile and providing your info here has no positive results). If using
version 7.6 again would not generate the same crashes as your current 24.2
version, it would suggest that there is something unique in LO 24.2 that is not
present in 7.6 that crashes. Please use this as a last resort and only after
providing the requested info of your current version, and possibly additional
other steps that might be suggested in later comments.

@wjsim,
You claim you can replicate this report under Windows, while this report is
presented for macOS. FWIW, I also attempted to replicate this under Windows,
but I don't see the problem on any version I tested – I can clearly see the
selected area under some colored background. This is the reason I asked for a
sample spreadsheet file in comment 1.

[Bug 141578] Libreoffice unusable with different scale factors used for different screens in multimonitor setup (on kf5/qt5/qt6 vcl + wayland)

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141578

Still present in LO 24.2.1.2 running on Plasma 5.27.8.

After trying all the different combinations of WAYLAND_DISPLAY and
SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN, the one that works the best for me is (uses XWayland):

WAYLAND_DISPLAY= SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5 /usr/bin/libreoffice

The workaround that works fine for me at this time is to put an executable
script under e.g. ~/.local/bin called "libreoffice" containing:

#!/bin/bash
WAYLAND_DISPLAY= SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5 /usr/bin/libreoffice "$@"

Make sure that this location (~/.local/bin) is in your PATH. If the .desktop
files used to start the libreoffice programs call e.g. "localc" rather than
"libreoffice --calc", then you also need "localc" etc. scripts (in order to be
able to start libreoffice programs from the GUI). If the .desktop files in your
distro use an absolute path for the executable, then you need to override
those.

Sounds reasonable to me, comment 9 and comment 11 sound like this might indeed

[Bug 160102] New: Items in the field type drop-down in design view of tables should be sorted alphabetically

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160102

Bug ID: 160102
Summary: Items in the field type drop-down in design view of
tables should be sorted alphabetically
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.2.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: soljwfmxrdwydkh...@nthrw.com

Description:
As it is presented in the UI now, there doesn't seem to be a logical order.
With an alphabetical order, it will at least be easier to select from the list.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a base database (.odb) file
2. Select 'Create Table in Design View' from tasks
3. Enter a field name
4. Open the field type drop-down list

Actual Results:
a 21 item drop-down list is presented in the order: Tiny Integer [TINYINT],
BigInt [BIGINT], Image [LONGVARBINARY], Binary [VARBINARY], Binary (fix)
[BINARY], Memo [LONGVARCHAR], Text (fix) [CHAR], Number [NUMERIC], Decimal
[DECIMAL], Integer [INTEGER], Small Integer [SMALLINT], Float [FLOAT], Real
[REAL], Double [DOUBLE], Text [VARCHAR], Text [VARCHAR IGNORECASE], Yes/No
[BOOLEAN], Date [DATE], Time [TIME], Date/lime [TIMESTAMP], OTHER [OTHER]

Expected Results:
a drop-down list with the items sorted in some order. e.g. alphabetically
(BigInt [BIGINT], Binary (fix) [BINARY], Binary [VARBINARY], Date [DATE],
Date/lime [TIMESTAMP], Decimal [DECIMAL], Double [DOUBLE], Float [FLOAT], Image
[LONGVARBINARY], Integer [INTEGER], Memo [LONGVARCHAR], Number [NUMERIC], OTHER
[OTHER], Real [REAL], Small Integer [SMALLINT], Text (fix) [CHAR], Text
[VARCHAR IGNORECASE], Text [VARCHAR], Time [TIME], Tiny Integer [TINYINT],
Yes/No [BOOLEAN]), or in order of size.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
as the list is quite long, it's hard to find the desired type. personally i
think the alphabetical sort is the easiest to navigate

[Bug 160072] Inconsistent handling of objects on Calc sheets with select all (Delete, clear contents, copy-paste)

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160072

I never had a problem with the object being copied, and I did not comment on
it. I do not think we should make users unhappy.
I had two issues:
- The original was that if an object is considered part of a sheet or attached
to some cells, then it should be treated consistently, i.e. if I select it, it
should also be deleted with Del. I do not see why Cut should be different than
Del.
- In your quoted sentence I just replied to your comment that selecting cells
does not select the object, while actually selecting enough cells, selects the
object as well. My issue here was again not the fact that it can be copied, but
that it cannot be deleted the same way. That led me to the thought that it
would be logic to see when the object is selected and when it is not.

Thinking more on it, this highlights why the current working is inconsistent.
Imagine that a selection is always clearly visible (orange dots or animated
dashes), what probably would be good anyway.
What would we see now when Ctrl-A? This is one step and should only have one
result, either or:
Option 1. If the object is marked selected (so it should be selected!) then why
it is not deleted when I press Del?
Option 2. If the object is not marked selected (so it surely is not selected)
then why is it Cut, Copied, when I press Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C?

I still think that there should be one answer. I personally do not have a
preference, whether Option 1 or 2 is better, but I think it should be marked on
the object. If it were marked then the user could also easily add the object to
the selection (in case of Option 2) with a Ctrl-Click or similarly could remove
it (Option 1) before Del, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C.

That works for me! Sorry this fell through the cracks Jim--should have pursued
when you cobbled it together.

Context menu entry Rresident on the sd Layers bar, but should also make it onto
the context menu for shapes on the current SB Navigator deck for Draw.

Still think some mix of UI for Z-order sensitive layering on the SB is needed,
would think Navigator--but could replicate the current sd Layers bar in a new
deck. See also bug 56498 and bug 90244

[Bug 82795] inverted arrow key behavior in left to right vertical text

2024-03-08 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82795

Wow, yes, also confirming. This sure is an old bug... its visibility may be
low, but it's quite the obvious problem if you do use vertical text.

But - how does one get the document to this state? Is this a page property?
Paragraph property?

The reporter sent me a private email (please never do that):

"No.

Only happened when I used one of the themes."

Which theme was it?

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/164516 fixes this, but in an unsafe
way... Leaving the issue open to address the image path (which keeps the
FollowTextFlow attribute, while the shape path didn't).

Those are the alternative error alerts. I don't recall what is the expected
behavior when no error alert is selected in Excel (which is what was changed in
tdf#159595 for Calc).

Quoting from:

*
Warning

Warn users that the data they entered is invalid, without preventing them from
entering it.

*
Information

Inform users that the data they entered is invalid, without preventing them
from entering it. This type of error alert is the most flexible.

Whereas:

*
Stop

Prevent users from entering invalid data in a cell.

So it would seem that Excel allows any of these cases, depending on the type of
error alert.

In Calc, copying and pasting a Chart callout changes the font size. When set to
12pt, copy is 24pt

The pasted callout is at 0:0. The body of the callout is movable, but the tail
is 'behind' the chart edit border and not selectable.
