[Bug 160607] New: Chart does not update when an unrelated worksheet is duplicated

2024-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160607

Bug ID: 160607
Summary: Chart does not update when an unrelated worksheet is
duplicated
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bugs.documentfoundation@ronaldduncan.com

Created attachment 193591
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=193591=edit
Chart not updating when unrelated worksheet duplicated

I have a workbook with detailed calculations in Year worksheets, and a summary
worksheet which refers back to the year worksheets. The summary worksheet has
a details and a summary table and these have charts that display their data.

If I update the data the charts change to reflect the update.

However, if I duplicate a year worksheet, then the charts stop updating until I
press CTL + SHIFT + F9.

Instructions to recreate the bug

In attached workbook
Summary sheet update cell h2 to 50% see chart change
Duplicate tab - SimpleCalculator2022
Try updating Summary sheet cell h2 to 50% see chart not change

Cell h2 is just a number, you can update other cells in the table and the chart
does not change. I was changing the formulae for a column to add the 2023
results. It is easier to just make a simple change like 3.5% to 50% to see the
effect.

I am running
Version: 24.2.0.3 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 420(Build:3)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-GB (en_GB.utf8); UI: en-GB
24.2.0-2
Calc: threaded

I had the same issue last year with an earlier version of LibreOffice, but did
not report. I run manjaro so would have been on a reasonably upto date version
last year.

Dear Wolf Jäcklein,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

To help narrow down the issue, it seems that the bug occurs when freezing the
column (bug does not occur if only the row is frozen). To simplify into steps:

1. Open Calc
2. Add a table with data (or copy the table from attachment 193574)
3. Select whole table
4. Insert > Chart > Finish
5. Select B2
6. View > Freeze Rows and Columns OR View > Freeze Cells > Freeze First Column
7. Edit B2 with a new number and press Enter

Expected results: Chart updates when values of table are changed and columns
are frozen

Actual results: Chart does not update when values of table are changed and
columns are frozen

[Bug 160605] New: Calc Sort via AU3, VBA/VBS external script doesn't sort.

2024-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160605

Bug ID: 160605
Summary: Calc Sort via AU3, VBA/VBS external script doesn't
sort.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.4.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: sdk
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: donny.dan...@hotmail.com

Description:
I’m not fluent in appropriate scripting terms and what not, so please forgive
the poor usages.
I am in the process of creating a User-Defined Function (UDF) for users to
automate LibreOffice using AutoIt (AutoIt is a BASIC-like scripting language),
while working on making functions to work with Calc, I have run into a problem
while trying to use the Sort function. I have successfully worked with Calc
using AutoIt, for other functions.
I have followed Andrew Pitonyak’s book, and double checked all of my code to
ensure I haven’t missed anything. It seems to be all correct.
The problem I am encountering is as follows:
-I have a Range, say A1:A5, with the values 5, 4, 3, 1, 2. I run my AutoIt code
that is supposed to sort the range (A1:A5), and have the sort copy the results
to a separate cell, cell C3, so that I know the sort function is actually being
called.
-What occurs is the values are output to cell C3 and down, but remain in the
order they were found, in this case, 5, 4, 3, 1, 2.
-In case it matters, if I don’t copy the results, the sort still processes, but
the values aren’t sorted that way either.
-No COM Errors result from calling the script, in either case.

To rule out an incompatibility with AutoIt, I attempted to convert the code to
work in VBA/VBS (the only other BASIC language I can figure out how to use to
automate LibreOffice at the moment). The result is the same, the sort is
processed, but the output is not sorted. As a side note, the VBA code I am
running from a Microsoft Word Macro engine, the code, with a minor change runs
fine from LibrOffice itself. (see post here be JeJe
https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?p=545947=d20cea321b08fdfe50cf39c80ad6e4d7#p545947)

I have also converted the code to work in LibreOffice Basic Macro. That, of
course, works fine. I am thinking that this may be a bug in LibreOffice itself,
when an external language (or BASIC language at least) is used to call a sort
function?

As a side note, if I can explain this correctly, I think the main issue at hand
is the SortField Struct or Sortfield Array is not being recognized in the array
of sort descriptor settings. The reason for this conclusion is as follows: I
can write a simple macro and store it in the LibreOffice Calc document, such as
the following:
REM Macro for Performing a Sort Function.

Sub AU3LibreOffice_Sort(oRange, avSortDesc, atField)

For i = LBound(avSortDesc) To UBound(avSortDesc)
If (avSortDesc(i).Name() = ""SortFields"") Then
avSortDesc(i).Value = atField

Next

oRange.Sort(avSortDesc())
End Sub

After creating the above macro in the Calc document, I can go to AutoIt, and
using the SortField Struct array, the Sort Descriptor Array, and the range
Object that I tried to call the sort command with directly from AutoIt (which
failed, as noted above), I can instead pass those as parameters to the Macro in
the document, and then have the macro insert the SortField array and call the
sort, and the sort works just fine. If I pass only the Range and the
SortDescriptor array with the SortField Array inserted already to the above
Macro, the sort fails the same as when I tried to sort directly from AutoIt.

If you need me to clarify, or try to re-word anything, let me know, and I will
try my best. As stated above I have attempted to reproduce the script in other
BASIC language versions, in the hopes of demonstrating that it is not a AutoIt
specific limitation. My sincere apologies if this is something that is known,
and is not a LibreOffice bug.

I will include the scripts in the Other Information section.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run one of the below scripts external to LibreOffice
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Sort is processed but fails to sort the data.

Expected Results:
Sort should be processed, and data should be sorted.

Reproducible: Always

Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US

The scripts I have written are below. In all of them I have made it
automatically fill in the values 5, 4, 3, 1, 2 in cells A1:A5 to ease the
demonstration.

video of a stopwatch showing the last 30 seconds of loading the Lenovo
accessories spreadsheet on Linux with Calc 24.2.2.2

Everyone reporting OK load times for the xlsx file are so far running Windows…

Here is video proof of just how slow it still is on Linux:
even with a pretty recent CPU like an Intel Core i5-8350U,
it takes over 3 min 50 secs before load completes / contents show up.
It remains sluggish when using it afterwards.

I find it interesting that m_a_riosv still experiences the slow load time on
Windows when using the ods file however, I did not expect that…

@Patrick, sorry if I wasn't clear. Comment 10 was for you, and really just
thinking out loud.

Not tasking in any sense. And apologize if it seems a hijacking. You've moved
things along for all Skia implementations, not just macOS Metal and we do
appreciate it, thanks!

Julien and I have played "wack-a-mole" with Skia rendering issues and the deny
listing process to keep up with users with marginally supported hw/driver off
of Vulkan rendering.

So his comment was fair, but neither of us had looked at the macOS side--I did
and posted the links with details.

Absent some refactoring, I don't think we can use the same common deny listing
as Vulkan rendering.

Saving a file to a computer that is out of disk storage does not give an error
code, but creates a file that needs to be recovered. Recovering the file
results in an empty file and all previous data is lost.

I did not check this issue on other Libre Office programs beside Calc, but this
should be looked into as well.

The other spreadsheet that exhibits the slow performance problem but with
different code paths (as seen in the flame graphs) due to being
OpenDocument-formatted is too big to attach (80 megabytes, exceeding this bug
tracker's 30 megabytes filesize limit), but I promise to keep hosting it at:

…at least until the bug is fixed when it comes to loading that spreadsheet in

[Bug 160590] Impress crashes with skia Metal enabled, skia raster software rendering works (MacOS Monterey (12.7.4) w/Intel HD Graphics 6000)

2024-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160590

--- Comment #11 from Patrick Luby (volunteer) ---
I don't know where this bug went off the rails. Seems like it got hijacked
about adding logging.

So, to set expectations, I am a volunteer and this is just my hobby. I am
interested in stopping the crashing so when I get some time, I'll add the Intel
HD Graphics 6000 GPU to the existing macOS deny list code. But I have zero time
or interest in implementing Skia logging to match Windows and Linux.

@Giuseppe S Can you do you following steps? These steps will print out the
exact name that Metal uses for your GPU:

1. Download and install the latest nightly master build from the following URL:

https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html

2. The nightly master builds install in /Applications/LibreOfficeDev.app. These
builds are not codesigned like regular LibreOffice releases so you will need to
execute the following Terminal command after installation but before you launch
/Applications/LibreOfficeDev:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/LibreOfficeDev.app
Finder and then run LibreOfficeDev.app from the Terminal by copying the
following line into the Terminal and pressing the return key:

/Applications/LibreOfficeDev.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice

4. In the Terminal, a message similar to the following line will be printed.

warn:vcl.skia:1225:20083:vcl/quartz/cgutils.mm:105: Default MTLDevice is "Apple
M1 Pro"

5. If you don't see the above line, you are using Skia/Raster so change to
Skia/Metal and restart. Just before the crash, you should see the above line.

6. Paste message into this bug.

My take: introduce UNO commands for first/last sheet and keep the patch
unconditional.

[Bug 160590] Impress crashes with skia Metal enabled, skia raster software rendering works (MacOS Monterey (12.7.4) w/Intel HD Graphics 6000)

Looks like the Metal MTLArchitecture [1] class provides similar to Vulkan's
VkPhysicalDeviceProperties implementation [2], but not sure it can be
shoehorned into a common deny list.

METAL API ≠ Vulkan API and the available details for Metal don't really line up
to use the Vulkan centric strings.

Any inclination toward cross platform maintenance to try to force it by using
the Vulkan SDK? Or maybe best to keep to generic Metal on macOS to control our
skia rendering.

In fact the log file for SK_METAL [1] is just "RenderMethod metal"

And IIUC none of the skia VkPhysicalDeviceProperties 'props' for macOS skia
Metal are being captured.

The SK_METAL would need new assignments similar to the SK_VULKAN [2] to use the
OpenGL era common denylist.

I used a simple list because on macOS, Apple controls the hardware
configuration (i.e. walled garden) so there aren't that many types of GPUs in
Macs and the GPUs are matched to a specific type of CPU (Intel or Silicon). For
example, Apple only shipped the Radeon GPUs currently in the list in certain
models of Intel MacBook Pros. Likewise, Apple only shipped the Intel HD
Graphics 6000 GPU (which was integrated into the CPU) in 2015 and 2017 models
of Intel MacBook Airs. No issues have been reported so far with any Silicon Mac
GPUs.

If we add the Intel HD Graphics 6000 GPU, we are up to a total of 3 GPUs that
will be checked with one macOS Metal call.

Reproducible
Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 432c866072aa62cf90168d569dc56cbc7269bcda
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22631; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: es-ES (es_ES); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

Clicking on the click-button for Size, reduces the 'locked' icon, to what I
think is the normal size.
BTW the normal size looks a bit little.

Which version of macOS are you running?

Which version of LibreOffice are you running?

If your version is older than what is listed on
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/ please install the
newest version and see if the issue is persisting with that build.

After providing the requested info, please reset this bug to UNCONFIRMED
(should it be persisting) or WORKSFORME (should it be solved with a newer LO
version).
