[Bug 92375] Impress loses cropped image ratio on saving and re-opening in different LO versions.

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92375

I am also experiencing this issue in LO draw. However, it seems not to be
correlated to the version of LO, but rather to the environment:
I am working with three PCs (all windows 11 enterprise).
Two of the PCs are working in sync (LO 7.5.2.2 & LO 7.5.5.2). The third one
opens odg-files with cropped images differently, independent of the LO-version
(tested with 7.6.6, 7.5.2.2 & LO 7.5.5.2). Different from the two other PCs,
but consistent across the three tested versions.
I have sadly no idea, what is the key difference with PC #3.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160984

Bug ID: 160984
Summary: FILEOPEN DOCX: endnote is on separate page, not inline
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vmik...@collabora.com

Created attachment 194020
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=194020&action=edit
Reproducer document

This may be the same as bug 58521, I'm not yet sure.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open the attached DOCX file.
2) Look at the order of foot/endnotes.

Expected result: "This is an endnote", then "This is a footnote"

Actual result: "This is a footnote", then "This is an endnote" on a separate
page.

I'm glad we sort of agree that using multiple sheets selected is for
experienced user.
In the case of picking a 'wrong' page style for a sheet, that will only affect
the print (preview) and produced PDF - something one would expect to be checked
- but nothing in the document is affected in any way.

Comment 2 describes the situation well.

It's not completely impossible for LO to one day support UIA, but the clear
focus for Windows is currently IAccessible2, so using a screen reader that
supports that is currently the only option to get a good experience with
LibreOffice.

Dear Ulrich Windl,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

The new UNO command only changes the Application Colors scheme for me (i.e.
changes between a black and light document background), _when the system's mode
is Dark_. It does not change the UI view mode.
It works as expected if the system is in Light mode, just like in Options >

--- Comment #21 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu)
 ---
With gtk3, the dialog adapts its width to make strings fit.
For example, testing with French UI, going to Options > Load / Save > General >
Load (Options > Chargement/enregistrement > Général > Charger).

Version: 24.2.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 433d9c2ded56988e8a90e6b2e771ee4e6a5ab2ba
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.5; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: fr-FR
Calc: CL threaded

When using the gen VCL plugin, a string is truncated, the dialog allows
reducing the width enough to hide a part of the string. It does however provide
a tooltip to read it in full.

And the next for pushing indirect formatting is: It should be more simple to
use. For example any knows ctrl-i for italic direct formatting. It should be
simple able to assign the ctrl-i instead for using character format
"Quotation". Because that is the most reason to use italic. Then I can work
without learning new stuff (as a simple user).
... but this may be another Bug number

[Bug 153309] Prevent direct formatting on writer by a password.

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153309

The problem of direct formatting is, many people want to do it. If it is made
more difficult, it will cause resentment among normal users. But professional
users should know the advantage of indirect formatting, especially it is also
familiar in such tools as Latex & co.
But professional users (document managers in companies) often have to be
convinced of the usefulness of indirect formatting. It means the problem is
first time a problem of coaching, information. Not a problem of documentation
and not a problem of LibreOffice.
But this is precisely why there should be a mode that either prohibits direct
formatting or makes it more difficult (with hints), consistently prohibiting
it. This must be simple able to be switched on and off. (not with a password,
that's nonsense or bullying).
Then, if the users are informed about the concept of indirect formatting, incl.
speaking about which styles, its meaning, also the styles should be concerted
(!), then existing direct formatting parts should be able to higlight, (for ex.
yellow background), to remove the direct formatting and think about (!) what to
do instead (!). This is hard editing working on the text. Do it step by step,
any day a part. For LibreOffice it means, this higlighting of direct formatted
parts should be on and off switchable, should not disturb the normal work.
The problem whether there are direct formatting parts in a text is not a
problem of ban and passwords, it is a problem of able to evaluate where there
are direct formatting parts. And a chief can say to the staff people, please
remove it.
It is a similar situation when there are meaningful style guides in a
programming language (C/++), which are checked with a tool and must necessarily
be fixed by the programmers in order to have a proper result.
It means we need two things:
a) Switch on/off possibity and support of direct formatting (for ex. ctrl-I for
italic or the buttons for selecting colors)
b) Switch on/off buttons for showing direct formatting parts. To clean it, the
ctrl-m exists, that is proper.

I have uploaded my experiments to
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/c/core/+/167299
With the code it is easier to discuss the problems.

With the patch, the text is at the correct position in the rotated path
objects. But sometimes more text is shown as in the unrotated path object and
sometimes text is missing. I have no idea what happens in those cases.

I do not even know at all, whether the patch is the correct way to go.
Hopefully Armin has some time to look at the problem.

LibreOffice provides no assistive technology support for Microsoft's UI
Automation framework. And MS has chosen to not support IAccessible2 in Narator,
just spotty support for legacy MSAA.

LibreOffice fully instruments IAccessible2 API calls on Windows, which NVDA
parses as "accessible events" reasonably well. JAWS a bit less so.

For other supported os/DE LibreOffice's cross platform assistive technology
support uses NS Accessibility and ATK/AT-SPI on macOS and Linux respective.

Situation on Windows os/DE will not change, as UI Automation framework is not
compatible with LibreOffices assistive technology.

Simply put just use NVDA for reasonable AT experience with LibreOffice.

[Bug 160982] New: Libre Office doesn't work with Microsoft Narrator

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160982

Bug ID: 160982
Summary: Libre Office doesn't work with Microsoft Narrator
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: docs4...@aol.com

Description:
Using Windows 11 Narrator, I was not able to use Libre Office. When I pressed
enter on the desktop icon, I couldn't put focus on items like Writer, Calc,
etc: Narrator didn't "see" anything. Then I switched screen readers (to NVDA)
to open Writer, and using Narrator again, I received no spoken feedback while
typing, when using Narrator reading commands, or when trying to access the
menus via the alt key. In other words, Libre Office is completely unusable with
Narrator. Please improve accessibility for blind users by making Libre Office
work with MS Narrator.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Windows, start Narrator with ctrl+windows+enter.
2. Open Libre Office.
3. Try using Libre Office with Narrator commands.

Actual Results:
Screen reader is unable to focus on items in initial screen/menu so no useful
spoken feedback is provided. Within the individual apps, no spoken feedback is
provided for text/data entry and readback, and focus issue appears to persist
in menus.

Expected Results:
I expect to hear menu content as I navigate. I epxect to interact with menus
and menu items. I expect to hear text/data during and after entry. In other
words, I expect to use Libre Office with Narrator as I do with other screen
readers, like NVDA.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
It should be usable by a totally blind person using MS Narrator.

Well, it's worse...: it crashes even when launching the app without opening a

Assign a keyboard shortcut from Tools -> Customize on the Keyboard tab.

Pick a key combo and assign:

.uno:ZoomPageWidth (labeled in Customize dialog as "Page Width").

Instant response.

The other zoom steps are also available to assign to keyboard, menu, r-mouse
context menu, or toolbar button. Which ever you need...

[Bug 160979] WiX packaged MSI installer offering only LO "program" and "font" for custom install

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160979

The reason it has only those two was that originally it was meant to illustrate
how things can be split into selectable packages. Once that was done there was
nothing more to do as we had to wait until upstream took care of all the CI
work and so on.

There was also some discussion that maybe the installer should not even provide
selectable options. The macOS installer does not do that either and it would
simplify the implementation. But that is a policy decision for other people to
make.

[Bug 160981] New: [WRITER] The frame looses its fixed height if I set centered content alignment

2024-05-07 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160981

Bug ID: 160981
Summary: [WRITER] The frame looses its fixed height if I set
centered content alignment
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 24.2.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: cala...@tiscalinet.it

Description:
Once I chang the vertical alignment setting of the content of a frame to
"Center", it collapses to its minimal height.

NOTE: the change seems to be destructive.
Once the frame looses its heigth, undo the action don't restore its original
height.
It seems it is not possible to restore the height in any way. It is necessary
close and reopen the document.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the sample document in Writer
2. Select a frame
3. Context menu: "Properties"
4. "Options" tab
5. Content Alignment: set to "Center"
6. Presso "Ok"

Actual Results:
The frame collapse to minimal height. The "Position and Size" tab settings are
not changed anyway.
The frame is a bit disaligned too, its position is shifted at left. Position
settings remain unchanged.
Restoring top vertical alignment don't restore frame's height while checking
"automatic size" in "Position and Size" tab surprisingly reassign a similar but
not identical height (note: the disalignment remains).

Expected Results:
The text is vertically centered inside the frame without modifying the frame
itself.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
NOTE: the menu's names could be inaccurate, I translated them from Italian but
the official English localization could be slightly different.

Other issues in the document
- Frame alignment: it seems it is not possible to aligne the right one of the
two frame on the bottom line with the right border of other frames. I tried to
do that increasing the size of the frame, but it wrap in a new line before it
reach the desired position.
- Print: when i printed the page, the right border of the frames overflowed the
printer's right margins, as if the frame was larger than showed in writer.

Current Jenkins TB78 Windows build with WiX packaging [1] does not provide
customization option selections available with Cygwin msitools based builds.

Typical msiexec.exe /a Administrative installs for testing not affected, but
doing actual /i installs are uncomfortable with the package as is. Expect also
we'll need to test the optional features with the WiX packaging get laid down
correctly.

Indeed, it is expected and normal; the file has the compatibility flag that
tells it to behave as DOCX works: NoGapAfterNoteNumber. Since the file was
created by re-saving a DOCX, this is normal.

The problem is that I didn't make the flag shown in
