IIRC it was discussed in bug 112437 "Go to page toolbar control" and eventually decided to keep the goto spinedit there (I also remember some pondering to have it in an extra line, which wouldn't be a good solution). I agree to remove it to save space, and to use either the [Page] up/down option or the dedicated dialog (click on the statusbar panel). OTOH, it's not an issue on my Qt-based system.
