Thanks for replying.
Based on your comment, I first tried removing the ID control altogether. This
allowed me to enter new records without error.
I was looking hard to find the "input required" setting you mentioned and just
couldn't. In the meantime, it's clear to me.
You have two ways of binding controls to the data: either you create a control
first and bind it through the properties, or you add a field using the "Add
field" dialog which creates a multiselection (i.e. grouped) control bound to
the field.
In the latter case, it's not possible to change, or even see data properties
such as "input required" which, I assume, is set to "yes" by standard.
Only after further research, I found out that it is possible to select single
objects of a multiselection group by having pressed when selecting it
with the mouse. Now you can change its properties.
So, it's not a bug. Just it could be a *lot* more intuitive :)
