No the machine doesn't have a special configuration it is a standard Dell
laptop.

I've downloaded "LibreOffice 5.3.2 Portable MultilingualStandard" and it works
fine.

has this machine any special configuration?

did you try opening the same files with a portable LibO version like X-LibO? 
you can download it from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/

Yes i tried the steps with safe mod, sadly with no change. Before the crash
screen appears, i get the file recovery dialog box without any files on the
list

Hello,

Thank you for reporting the bug. To be certain the reported issue is not
related to corruption in the user profile, could you please reset your
Libreoffice profile ( https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile ) and
re-test?

I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to
'UNCONFIRMED' if the issue is still present
