Bug ID: 107195
Summary: Scalable tools for furigana (ruby) input, e.g. HTML
compatibility
Product: LibreOffice
Version: unspecified
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Reporter: hastra...@gmail.com
Description:
Currently the only way to insert furigana in LO is to use the rather clunky UI
in the formatting menu and go through entry by entry. At high text volumes,
that just doesn't cut it. As someone who works with Japanese quite a bit, I'd
really like to see some way to get this done faster. Some options that would
speed things up:
a. A button (like the super/subscript button) or hotkey to quickly switch
between regular text and furigana. Currently it's impossible to switch between
the two without reaching for the mouse.
b. The ability to search for and replace with furigana (see numerous tickets
for search related improvements)
c. Compatibility with other common document formats supporting furigana, e.g.
HTML5 (the <ruby> tag)
