If you have something like MDI 
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_document_interface in mind, that pattern
has been refused as bad usability many years ago and IIRC we closed all those
tickets as WF. But bug 31481 requests a side-by-side view for proofreading and
is still valid.

We've already looked at doing more with HTML 5, see bug 95861

The document framework for LibreOffice is based on ODF--the project will not
move away from that standard.

IHMO  a pretty clear => WF
