simple chart for testing

Version: 6.2.3.2 (x64)

The Calc user guide says that if no data series is selected in a chart, then
trend lines for all data series will be created. 
What I expect to be able to do:
    1) Select the chart by double-clicking on it to enter edit mode. 
    2) Go to Insert > Trend Line on the Menu bar to open the Trend Lines dialog
(
What happens instead:
On the Insert menu, Trend Line is grayed out

Please tell me if any further information would be helpful.
