[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137484] "Restart Numbering" does not "stick" for first list in a document

Hmm. You know, there is something missing from the repro steps after all. I've
been closing Writer between the close and open steps.

So, new repro steps:

1) Start Writer
2) Create a numbered list with a couple list items.
3) Select "Restart Numbering" on the first list item.
4) Save the document.
5) Close writer
6) Open the document (i.e. directly, without starting Writer first).
7) Note that "Restart Numbering" is no longer present on the first list item.

I reproduce this on Windows and Linux, with many different versions, all the
way to 3.3.0.

I found an earlier report.

Tested again with

Version: 7.2.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 2a7ea282da28d665a7dc086360567b4aea27bf08
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded

and couldn't reproduce

Steps I've tried:
1) Create a new document.
2) Create a numbered list with a couple list items.
3) Select "Restart Numbering" from the context menu on the first list item. (or
"Toggle Restart Numbering" from list toolbar)
4) Save the document.
5) Open the document.

Actual result (expected)
"Restart Numbering" is still present in context menu on the first list item
(same with "Toggle Restart Numbering" from list toolbar).

Since the bug has never been confirmed by a second person, I change status back
to UNCONFIRMED

I can still reproduce this with 7.1.5.2.

You can't be following the repro steps correctly, because I can repro this
every time, without fail.

This bug has nothing to do with Master documents per se, it's just irritating
AF when USING a master document.

You should install it because it installs separately and will not mess with
your system.

> Surely, bugs are still being fixed in the 6.x code line... right?

No, the 6.4 line had its final release a couple of days after you created this
report: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan/6.4#End_of_Life

Waiting for you test results with a newer version.

You provided a link to a 7.1 alpha build on the master branch. Why would I
install that? As I've already said, we are on 6.4 and staying with the 6.x code
line.

Surely, bugs are still being fixed in the 6.x code line... right?

I've tested with the latest "still" version, 6.4.7.2, and it's still
reproducible.

So, please confirm the bug against 6.4 and then assign.

Thanks.

> I didn't say version 7.0.2.2. I said version 6.4.6.2.

It's a basic rule in bugzilla to test bugs with LO fresh or LO Master

If I can't reproduce it with LO 7.0.2.2 it could be, that the bug has already
been fixed in LO fresh. If you don't want to update at the moment you can also
test wih LO Master. You can install it in parallel from
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/current.html

You can also try in Safe Mode (Help => Restart in SafeMode)

I didn't say version 7.0.2.2. I said version 6.4.6.2.

We are not willing to uptake version 7 at this time. This is a corporate
setting and we will stay on the 6.x codeline for some time yet.

Furthermore, it's trivial to reproduce - every time - with version 6.4.6.2.

This has NOTHING TO DO with Master documents per se. It's just that when a
master document is being used, this bug is really painful; all of the
sub-documents have their numbering continued from the previous sub-document.
And when you have 30+ sub-documents... see what I mean?

I can't confirm it with

Version: 7.0.2.2 (x64)
Build ID: 8349ace3c3162073abd90d81fd06dcfb6b36b994
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: he-IL (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: threaded

But I didn't test with master document. If this is the focus of your bug, you
should adjust bug summary and steps to reproduce.
