[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 141296] Find & Replace: Checkmark "Current selection only" automatically unset after repeating "find" (or "find/ replace") despite that area is still marked
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141296 --- Comment #9 from ady --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #8) > So your use case is to select some cells but search everywhere @Heiko, I think that's not what Roland described. It is rather closer to the opposite. @Roland, After the initial search, some cells _seem_ selected: * some cells are seemingly selected, * only _one_ cell actually has the focus, and, * no cell is actually selected. Without touching anything else but with the F dialog already closed once, Roland is attempting to reopen the dialog and search on those seemingly selected cells. The workaround is simple (unless each search takes more than a couple of seconds at most): select the original area that is to be searched-for in the first search, perform the first search, and without closing the dialog you modify the search criteria field(s) and search for a second time. The second search is only limited to the cells that were already part of the results of the first search. The key is not to close the dialog and not to click on other cells meanwhile. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141296 Heiko Tietze changed: What|Removed |Added CC||libreoffice-ux-advise@lists ||.freedesktop.org --- Comment #8 from Heiko Tietze --- "Current selection" is checked if you have a selection, otherwise not (and it becomes disabled). So your use case is to select some cells but search everywhere- makes not much sense IMO. Just keep the dialog open, as Ady suggests in comment 6. We could remember the off-state for selections and overwrite it accordingly. But I vote for resolving the request as NAB/WF. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141296 ady changed: What|Removed |Added Keywords||needsUXEval --- Comment #6 from ady --- Please note that if the find and replace dialog is kept open, the checkbox is also kept ON (for a second search, on whichever area _seems_ selected at that moment). Only when closing the dialog and reopening, the problem is clearly noticed. STR: 1. Select area including cells with content. 2. [CTRL]+[H] 3. Perform some search on selected area that results in some cells being selected. 4. Close all dialog windows. The same cells as _after_ step 3 _seem_ still selected. 5. [CTRL]+[H] > the "Current selection only" checkbox is not set ON by default. Once the dialog is closed, some cells look highlighted (according to the result of the prior search). This is expected, and a helpful result. But only one cell is actually selected (as can be noticed by the "range" box at the left side of the formula bar). So it is understandable that the "Current selection only" checkbox won't be set ON. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141296 --- Comment #4 from QA Administrators --- Dear Roland White, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
